Importing 10.8.5 OD archive into yosemite ????

I am having trouble doing this....

Do you have access to another 10.6 machine? If so, take you AB backup and import it there. Open AB, select all cards, or select all cards by group, and drag to desktop. This will create a "multi-VCF" card with a name like "Alan Adams and 43 others.vcf." If doing on a group-by-group basis, rename each according to group so you know which is which. Once the "multi-VCF" card(s) are created, you can delete them from the host AB. Copy the "multi-VCF" card(s) to flash drive and take to your 10.5 machine. Double-click on them and they will import. I don't know whether they retain their group info, that may be a downside to this approach in that subsequent group imports might have to be manually affiliated to a new group in the 10.5 AB, but at least you have all the data.
Regarding your 10.6 freezing issue, another approach that you might take with that is if you have a second hard drive that you could borrow, get Carbon Copy Cloner (donationware) or SuperDuper (crippleware) or similar product, clone the original drive, reformat the original drive, do a clean install of 10.6 from the DVD so there are no remnants of 10.5 floating around, then use migration assistant to import the users and applications from the clone.

  • Importing Camera Archive into new iMovie

I have years of old AVCHD camera archives on my hard drive from my old camcorders.  To work with those files, with prior versions of iMovie it was as simple as importing it (File->Import->Camera Archive as simply stated here: iMovie '11: Import video from a camera archive into iMovie)
Just upgraded to Yosemite and running iMovie 10.0.6.  When I use the import feature and navigate to where the archives are on my hard drive, they don't show up as importable.  Despite the folders and AVCHD files showing up in Finder, they do not show up in iMovie's menus.  What am I missing?  Appreciate any thoughts.

Well, interesting thing upon further research.
All my AVCHD archives were in a standard folder under Movies->iMovie Camera Archives.  Within that folder there is folder after folder of archives.  I can see them just fine in Finder.
When I go to the "iMovie Camera Archives" folder in iMovie it says: "iMovie Camera Archives.localized" and NONE of those sub-folders show up.  I copied one of the archives to my desktop and it imported perfectly fine.  So it's something odd about the iMovie Camera Archives folder itself that is preventing me from importing all those archives.  Odd.  Thanks!

  • Importing Archive into Lightroom

I need a little direction before I start this huge project. I have been put in charge of organizing a main archive that is totally uncategorized, not keyworded or even separated by subfolders. I also need to add images from current projects to the archive and organize/keyword in the same way. So, my plan is to create a LR catalog for the archive and keyword as I import. I do use LR for editing smaller projects, but I have not used LR for such a daunting project involving keywording and I just want to make sure I do this right from the get-go
Should I import the entire archive into LR, create collections and then keyword? Or should I create subfolders outside of LR and then import the subfolders individually so that I can keyword them in groups? Also, should I keep jpegs and tifs of the same image together in the same collection or keep them separate? Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Import Lx5 movies from movie archive to Imovie

    Hi,
I have problems importing videos from iMovie camera arcive into iMovie 11 (v9.0.4).
    1. I have a LX5 - Lumix camera and shout movies in AVCHD lite format.
    2. First I insert the SD-HC card into my MacBook Pro and open iMovie. To speed up import i choose in iMovie "archive all". I store them on the internal HD in a folder called "iMovies kameraarkiv" which is located at the same level in folder structure as "iMovie - projects" and "iMovie - events".
    3. Later inside iMovie I choose Archive->Import->import from "camera archive" and select one of the archived folders e.g. "Apple Internal Memory Card Reader - 2012-02-24" I get the error message "The folder is not a Camera Archive"
I can go into the the subfolder "stream" I can see and also play the .mts files using VLC.
If I allready at step 2. imports the videos to iMovie the import works fine, but many times I can not wait for several hours before I can use my camera again and need to transfer files to the hard disc.
    Thanks in advance for suggestions.
    /Björn

I think it should work as you are doing it. You do File/Import/From Archive and point to the Folder.
But it isn't, so what do I know?
Here is a way to simulate "putting it back on your camera". This may work, but it may have the same problem that your archive file has.
First, open DISK UTILITY. It should be in your Applications/Utilities folder.
In Disk Utility, create a Disk Image by clicking New Image inthe top toolbar.
Give it a name in the SAVE AS box.
Give it a name in the NAME box.
    For SIZE choose CUSTOM
For custom size, pick a size that is slightly larger than your archive folder and its contents. ( you can find this by right-clicking on the archive folder and choosing "Get Info".)
For Format, choose Mac OS Extended (journaled) - although FAT32 would probably work, too, since that is what is on your camera.
    For Encryption, choose NONE
For Partition: choose Single Partition: Apple Partition Map. (GUID would work, too)
For Image Format: Choose Read/Write/Disk Image.
    Now click CREATE.
Mount this new disk image, so it looks like an external disk mounted on your system in the Finder.
Open the Disk Image in the Finder.
Drag the contents of the Archive Folder (but not the folder itself) into the Disk Image.
Open iMovie. It should recognize the Disk Image as a camera and you can import from there.

  • Issue migrating Notes into Yosemite

A few days ago I upgraded my MacBook's OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, and while just about everything data-wise migrated over without a problem, my Notes from the standard Notes app were deleted. I cannot seem to find a way to recover them, and they contain a few pieces of semi-important information I'd like to recover/keep if at all possible. I tried booting the oldest Mavericks version of Notes from my Time Machine backup into Yosemite, but I cannot since it's incompatible  with Yosemite. Any attempts to find my data through other methods in Finder (Show Package Contents, etc.) were fruitless; is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

    Hi Tafkap,
Once you have created the par file you have to first deploy it to your Server to store it to PCD.
    http://<server-name>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal
<b>Note:</b> There will be input box where you have to give the path of your par file. It will be having the heading as:
<b>Please specify a Portal Archive file (PAR) and press "upload" to store it into the PCD.</b>
    1) Login to the Portal.
    2) Go to Content Administration.
    3) Go to Portal Content. Right click it and you will find option (New from PAR).
    4) Create New from PAR -> iView.
    5) Now a list of PAR files deployed on PCD will appear and there you will find the PAR file which you have also deployed.
    6) click on it and press Next.
    7) Enter the Name and ID whatever you want.
    8) Finish.
    9) Now you can see the iView with the name you have mentioned. Right click it and preview it.
    10) Or just click the iView and then click on the preview option.
Now you view the page in your default browser.
    Hope this help you.

  • Importing sent e-mails as .mbox into Mail.app

After years of putting it off, I decided to finally dump Thunderbird and start using Apple's homegrown Mail app. I had tried multiple methods of getting my e-mails out of Thunderbrid and into Mail but - after many false starts and missing e-mails - I settled on simply selecting all messages in a given folder (inbox, sent) and saving as an .mbox file. Mail's own import tool never worked correctly for me, presumably because I have multiple e-mail accounts that have been merged, transfered between computers and operating systems, and tinkered with so much that Thunderbird's profile folder structure is somehow differing from the norm.
At any rate, I imported my inboxes (in .mbox format) into Mail and it worked beautifully! All the messages were marked as unread, but they were all present and accounted for and I was quite happy.
When I tried the exact same process (selecting all messages and saving as .mbox in Thunderbird, then importing into Mail) for my Sent folder, however, I encountered a problem. Mail only imported a single sent e-mail (the most recent one)! This happened with multiple attempts at multiple separate sent folders. I tried "Get Info" on the .mbox files, and - seeing as they were several hundred MB - they clearly contain more than that single message. This leads me to suspect that the issue isn't with corrupt files or Thunderbird saving them incorrectly, but rather an issue with the way Sent e-mails are handled or read by Mail.
Can anyone explain exactly what is causing this or offer advice on a way to move my sent e-mails over? I am able to save in EML, HTML, Plan Text, and other formats, though it appears that Mail really wants .mbox or a specific file from another app (once again, the Thunderbird import option doesn't work for me, so I am unable to rely on that).
    Find my details below:

    Thunderbird 17.0.2

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Go to File > Import Mailboxes> From Apple Mail.  Then select the parent level folder i.e. [email protected]  From that window will be checkboxes of every possible folder (inbox, draft, deleted, sent, draft) you had in your old Apple Mail.

What you want cannot be done. iTunes has its quirks, and the above is the kind of workaround needed to make the media display sensibly on any device. The article I pointed you to has others that you may find useful in future.

This looks like bug to me, Any suggestion?

    Hi Mohideen,
Based on my research, the issue might be related to one of the following factors:
Memory pressure. Check there is a memory challenge when the issue occurs. In addition, if the package runs in 32-bit runtime on the specific server, use the 64-bit runtime instead.
A known issue with SQL Native Client. As a workaround, use .NET data provider instead of SNAC.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can i import tables from a different schema into the existing relational model... to add these tables in the existing model? plss help

how can i import tables from a different schema into the existing relational model... to add these tables in the existing relational/logical model? plss help
note; I already have the relational/logical model ready from one schema... and I need to add few more tables to this relational/logical model
can I import the same way as I did previously??
but even if I do the same how can I add it in the model?? as the logical model has already been engineered..
    please help ...
    thanks

    Hi,
Before you start, you should probably take a backup copy of your design (the .dmd file and associated folder), in case the update does not work out as you had hoped.
You need to use Import > Data Dictionary again, to start the Data Dictionary Import Wizard.
In step 1 use a suitable database connection that can access the relevant table definitions.
In step 2 select the schema (or schemas) to import.  The "Import to" field in the lower left part of the main panel allows you to select which existing Relational Model to import into (or to specify that a new Relational Model is to be created).
In step 3 select the tables to import.  (Note that if there are an Foreign Key constraints between the new tables and any tables you had previously imported, you should also include the previous tables, otherwise the Foreign Key constraints will not be imported.)
After the import itself has completed, the "Compare Models" dialog is displayed.  This shows the differences between the model being imported and the previous state of the model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Merge button should apply all the additions and changes in the new import.
Having updated your Relational Model, you can then update your Logical Model.  To do this you repeat the "Engineer to Logical Model".  This displays the "Engineer to Logical Model" dialog, which shows the changes which will be applied to the Logical Model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Engineer button should apply all the additions and changes.
I hope this helps you achieve what you want.
    David
