Importing 1290 x 1080 .mov issues Premier Pro

I can not see a choice for making my new project settings for .mov files that are 1920 x 1080 (30fps). The only choice I have is for 1440 x 1080. I am using Premier Pro with a Vista 64 system. Any ideas on how or where to fix this issue?
Thanks, Jon

Welcome to the forum.
If you cannot find a Preset that matches your footage exactly, you can choose a Desktop Preset, and then in the settings screen, adjust almost every possible property. Desktop = custom in this instance.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - in < CS4, you do this at the Project level. With CS4 up, you do it at the Sequence level.

  • Problems importing Sony Handycam mpg files into Premier Pro CS4

I'm investigating Premier Pro CS4 for video editing and if I can make it work okay then I will purchase the Master Collection. Otherwise I may go to the MAC and use Final Cut. I need immediately to edit files downloaded from a Sony HandyCam that come off in an mpg format I believe it is (MPEG-2). My understanding is that the Premier Pro supports the importing of mpg files.
When I attempt to import one of theses mpg files I get the error, "Unsupported file format or damaged file." I know the files are okay because I can play them with Windows Media Player and have been able to edit them with Window Movie Maker. Now I need a more robust editing environment and am looking at Premier Pro to be the solutions.
Has anyone had experience with importing mpg files? Is there a Codec needed? If so where can I get it and how do I install it?

Adobe wouldn't help me on the phone, as I haven't got a support contract. Perfectly rational by them, just stupid.
I've asked my software supplier to forward on some questions and a link to this thread to Adobe support and they should be looking at it soon.
Also, there is another possible solution that might help those of you with full versions.
There is some advice here on one way to give Premiere Pro the ability to import MPEGs.
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/premiere/pro/import/mpeg-ac3.html
This is very attractive to me - as I know the AC3 audio codec is used by my MPEG files and it sounds like it could be a solution. Of course, I've tried it, and I still get the same error.
I ran the files through TSRemux and got the same 'file format not supported' error message.
I've also been trying to import a .mov file into the trial version and I get the same error. Jim, would you be able to help me by saying in which other ways the trial version is limited?

  • Importing mini DV camcorder movie to QT pro question

Does the quality of the movie that QT pro imports from a mini DV [tape] camcorder depend on the speed of one's computer? I'm using an older 450mhz G4 Cube. Or are the results the same regardless of the speed of the cpu? I can upgrade my Cube's processor if need be.
Is one better satisfied with burning the movie to DVD on a t.v. top DVD recorder and then importing the movie using software like Handbrake when it comes to the quality of the final QT movie?

I can upgrade my Cube's processor if need be.It might be easier/cheaper to simply use a free older/slower dedicated video capture application like VIDI.

  • I think I need to re install Encore off my discs. When I ask Premier Pro CS5 to send my project to Encore, Encore opens but does not receive my movie sequence. How do I re install Encore only without upsetting my movie?

Hello. I have the Premier Pro CS5 suite on Windows. Can you advise me how to re install Encore off my discs without affecting any of my movie in Premier Pro please?
I ask Pro to send the movie sequence through Dynamic Link into Encore so that I can burn the sequence to a disc.
Encore does open but the sequence does not arrive from Pro.
Last night the sequence did arrive into Encore but took forever to transcribe and I eventually cancelled the process as it appeared to get stuck and did not quite get to writing to disc.
This morning the sequence does not even arrive into Encore.
Very frustrating when I have a 4hr movie that I want to write to Bluray so I have now created 4 separate sequences and want to try writing them onto DVD in 1hr chapters.
Hope someone can help me with this. Cheers. Janice

Hello Ann. Thank you for your help. I have re installed EN and I have now
sent parts of my movie to AME. I have then tried several different methods
of getting the encoded clips into Encore successfully. Once in the Project
panel and the Timeline, the movie does not show up in the Monitor panel
above, so I have proceeded to build and write to a disc. I've tried a
number of options but always end up with EN 'not responding' and having to
    close the program down.
Something else is that I do get a message whilst in Premiere Pro that there
is an update available for AME, however, when I look online I do not see an
update for CS5, although there are 2 updates for CS6. Can you suggest what
I could do please? The Encore problem is the one that concerns me the most
as I am not able to record my movie.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Kind regards.

  • I imported M2T into CS4 Premier Pro on Mac OSX Snow Leopard does not play

I imported several M2T files into CS4 Premier Pro on Mac OSX Snow Leopard, the files import just fine and when I double click on them, I see the video in the preview panel. However when I hit play, nothing happens. It does not play, just sits on the first frame. Even when I drop it into the timeline, same thing happens. Does not play but if I export what I put into the timeline, the video exported is fine. So I can't edit it, because I cant see where to put edit points. I really need help, need to get this project done asap.

I have fixed this problem myself by searching the forum with argument "playback" "playback_issue". This a known problem. Go to link for a solution http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/playback-stops-loops-soundbooth-premiere.html
    Thanks to myself.

  • After effects and Premier pro corrupted after dynamiclinkserver crash CS6

    Hi guys,
The title says it all really.
I was trying to render an after effects file in CS6
I opened Premier Pro and created a dynamic link. this crashed after a while and both programs now fail to start up.
I have tried most of the suggested fixes to no avail.
For information: I also have CC installed and it runs fine. If i log in as another user with a clean profile then they run fine. So im guessing its a common user based issue.
premier pro just stops working on launch
After effects freezes on the mediacore loading. It then gives a message saying Quicktime is not installed on this computer (It is). If i click okay it then proceeds to crash with a dialogue box which refers to the dynamiclinkserve.exe
Becasue it seems to be profile based im thinking a reinstall wont make any difference here.
    All help greatly appreciated
    all the best
    chris

    FIXED!
if you have this issue the best way to see if the dynamiclink server is in a crash loop. It will intermittently freeze your machine. On the task manager you will see it starting and quitting.

  • Importing Kodak .mov files in Premier Pro CS3?

I am using Premier Pro CS3 and I have a new Kodak Playsport Zx3.  Kodak says the .mov clips are 1080p, and 30 frames a second. I tried importing clips into CS3 and I get 'file type not supported' error.  The manual says .mov are supported.  What am I missing?  Do I need Quicktime installed for importing the files?

    Welcome to the forum.
Can you tell us more about your computer?
If you are getting the "Not Supported" error, then it is likely that you do not have the proper CODEC's installed. For the MOV format, those are usually installed with Apple's QuickTime Player. Do you have that installed? If not, it is free, though IMHO, is not that great a player. In your case, you only need the CODEC's that it installs.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - something else to consider is that many camera mfgrs. will ship their own version of the CODEC's, and these might be on the CD/DVD, that came with the camera. Sometimes, the CODEC is an extra install, sometimes it's built into the driver for the camera, and sometimes, it's part of some video editing program, that ships with the camera. It just depends.

  • How can I make my AVCHD mov. files work in premier pro?

I used Panasonic HDC-SD60 for a short film for work.  This has over about 40 clips with around 3 hours of footage However when I import the .mov files from the media browser the audio seems fine but the footage is in a sort of slow mo, and out of sync. I want to edit and do post-production using adobe premier pro, and after effects. However the footage seems to be working in final cut X. There is no lag with playback on quicktime either. What's making this happen? I've read about variable frame rates, it's seems most common in iPhones and tablets? Is that something that the panasonic do as well? Is there a fix? Or should I jump ship and make do with a slightly more limited features of Final Cut?

That does not specifically say Variable FRAME Rate, so I don't know a cure... but, see below

  • Importing sound into Premier Pro CS3

I have a Sony HDR-XR100 HD video camera.  It saves files with an .m2ts extension.  This extension is not supported by CS3.  Using Sony's PMB (Picture Motion Browser), I convert the .m2ts files to .mpeg2.  When I import these files into Premier, they appear, but have no audio.  How do I import the audio?  Thanks.
    David

I put it in the main Premier folder, presumably like you did, and it worked.  I'm not real familiar with Macs, but the folder I put it in was "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS3".  There are several other files there with similar names.  If that doesn't work, I'm lost, since obviously I had to come here for help myself :).

Subject: Importing sound into Premier Pro CS3
Hey, I'm using CS for Mac and I'm having the same issue , importing .mpg into PPro and get no audio.
I found the ad2ac3dec.dll file online but I'm not sure what folder to place it in. I've found the folder named Adobe Premire Pro CS3 and just pasted it into that but it didn't work.
My camera only records in .mpg and I really don't want to spend money on a converter after spending a bucketload for CS3...
Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Premier Pro CS4 and Camtasia imported screen capture

I have a question from one of you professionals regarding Camtasia screen capture video imported to PP. I used several settings that was suggested in the posts in these forums and others and the quality of my video is still very bad. Please Help:
I am making a four minute training video that includes some screen shots of software. The final video will be put on DVD and Flash for website.
My capture settings of Camtasia are 1024 X 768. I used Tech smith codec and I used Logarith codec to produce the video in AVI from camtasia.
I set my PC screen size to 1024 X 768 as well.
My Premier Pro CS4 Setting HDV 1080i, 29.97 frame rate. 1440 X 1080 Frame size.
I also used the following frame sizes DV NTSC, 29.97 frame rate. 720X480 frame size
    I also used MPEG2, HDTV 720p, 29.97High quality, 1280 X 720 frame rate
None of the above settings worked. Please help
    Thank you

This ARTICLE and the included links might be helpful. Be very sure to look at all of the replies by Jeff Bellune on using the TechSmith CODEC's from Camtasia. I think that he replied in most linked threads.

  • Movie proportions in Premier Pro CS 5.5

I have been given video footage and while it is .mov format, I don't know it's native proportions or any information about it and I don't know how to find out so that I can import it properly into Premier Pro and have it scale properly.
I have tried importing it into differently configured sequences and each time, the people look tall and skinny (more so than usual).  Sometimes there's a black border on either side, sometimes they fit the frame and are disproportinately tall and skinny.  Clearly my ratio or something is off kilter but I can't seem to figure out which is the right size.
How do I find that out?
    Update:
ok, I had been told it was not shot in high def...but on a hunch, I tried HDV 720p and it imported proportionally.   So my question still stands...how the heck can I tell before I use the file, what it was shot in so I can match my sequence appropriately?

  • Creative Suite 5 Premier Pro Encode Issues

    Hello Fellow Experts,
I am having a problem with my Adobe Creative Suite 5 Premier Pro software. I spent a long time working on a movie and when It tries to Encode in Adobe Media Encoder, it wants to take 10 hours for 2 minutes. The file that I'm trying to encode is not complicated at all. It only consists of 20 pictures (dimensions less then 2500x2000) and one sound track.
There are transitions and a few effects in the sequence, but not enough to make it take 10-12 hours for just 2 minutes!
I've already given my 32 bit laptop more virtual memory, and that fixed a low memory error, but it is still wanting to take too long.
The original file is over 40 minutes long so it would really help if someone had an idea for me. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
I've encoded 3 minute clips before and it only took 4 hours...
I don't have access to a better computer either.
    Any ideas?

Nobody can know. Your info is at best rather broad and generic, at worst vague. In any case, your computer seems seriously underpowered and from the program possibly being too busy with decoding the full 40 minutes first to issues with disk based caches on slow drives to specific CoDec and hardware acceleration issues I could imagine a million things going on. Just because you only use a handful of effects doesn't mean that those otehr things couldn't drag your system down. Extensive file I/O can be a real killer on any project. Well, whatever. What you see is probably perfectly normal within what you can expect on your system. Some housekeeping like defragemnting disks and removing old temp files might improve matters slightly, but I realyl think short of buying a better computer there is not much you can do...

  • Aspect Ratio Issues in Premier Pro CS 5.5

I'm trying to produce a DVD for my daughter's school and my wife bought me a copy of CS 5.5 to help (thanks lovely wife!).
I made a number of rookie mistakes when originally trying to produce the final video, but I think I have managed to correct most of them. Sadly, the final product still does not play correctly on a DVD player.
Here are the attributes of the original source footage (from Windows):
And here are the settings from PP for a similar file (same settings, just a file from a little later in the filming process)
And finally, here are the settings for the sequence that I created by right-clicking on the footage in PP and creating a new sequence from the file:
The problem is this... The footage plays correctly in PP when previewed. It plays fine when exported as media and played on my PC, but when played through a media player (as a digital file) the aspect ratio is off and the file seems constrained horizontally, which pushes the top and bottom of the footage off screen (not sure I'm describing this well).
Also, when I use Encore to produce a DVD as a test, the same issue occurs. So I can only assume that the problem is the render from PP.
Can anyone help? Do you need more info to help? I'm getting frustrated... time for a beer while I wait for replies.
    Thanks in advance

Once I realised that I'd made some mistakes with the processing, I started doing some tests with a sample piece of footage. This has allowed me a much shorter render time when testing the settings.
    Here's what I did:
I took the piece of footage and imported it into a blank Premier Pro project (with no sequences). Then I created a new squence from the file (by right-clicking and selecting "create new sequence from file). Then I dickered with the footage, inserted some picture in picture and changed the speed of some of the footage (all things I intend to do with the final production). Then I sent that to a brand new Encore project created by sending the sequence via dynamic link.
Once I was in Encore, I made sure the project made sense (set the end action etc...) then I set it to build a .ISO file. I then burned that to disc (a standard 4.7Gb DVD-R) and I also sent the ISO to my DViCO TViX media player. Whether I play the disc on my Sony Blu-Ray player or the ISO on my media player, the aspect ratio is wrong. But if I play the same ISO or disc on my PC - it works fine!
I've yet to try it on another player, but I think there's something fundamentally wrong with my process, or the way I'm doing this.
Here's a piece of footage from a camera that had EXACTLY the same setting as the original footage (I used this piece of footage because it's straight from the camera - most of the files from the main camera are too big to share):

PP does support direct import of Quicktime files that can be played back on the system.
What is the correct error message after import?
Can you playback the files with the Quicktime Player?
For some codecs like DNXHD you have to install the quicktime codec first...
