Importing 16:9 timeline in 4:3 environment

Hi!
I've been working on a project for a client in a 16:9 aspect ratio timeline.  Recent changes have been made and the final projection MUST be in 4:3.  Is there a way to import that old timeline into a 4:3 environment without having to individualy scale each clip to fit?

You can copy everything from the 16:9 project and paste it inside a 4:3 timeline.
You'll probably end up with letterboxing - i.e. two black bands at the top and bottom of the screen - simply because the aspect ration is different. That is assuming you have kept the spatial conformity of your clips to  the default option, 'Fit'.
If this is acceptable, then that's all there is to it. If not, then you'll have to scale things and lose some visual content - if you enlarge a 16:9 to get rid of the letterboxing you'll lose the extreme bits at the sides.

  • Importing movies to timeline

how do you get movies to be on the timeline, so when your SWF
file starts you don't have to click play on the movie, it just
    automatically plays.

    you can either:
    1. place them on the main timeline in the authoring
    environment
    2. load externals swfs using loadMovie, loadMovieNum or
    loadClip
3 use attachMovie() to instantiate a library
    movieclip.

  • Sound doesn't importe in the timeline since few day

Hello excuse me for my english.
Why a video that was imported into the timeline with sound, can not be imported with a few days again later?
A video in AVI importe with sound but the video MP4 or MTS doesn't import with sound. But a few day ago this same videos were imported with sound and they are in my project. I can again read with sound in this project.
I use premiere PRO CC 7.0.0 on windows 8
    Thank you

What does the clip's icon look like in the Project panel (list view)? Is it just a film frame or does it also have an audio waveform?
Is the audio missing regardless of whether you play it in the Source Monitor or drop it in on the Timeline and play it in the Program Monitor?
If the clip's icon shows the audio waveform and you can hear it upon playing back in the Source Monitor, then most likely you don't have an audio track selected for source patching.

  • Double-click on clips in Browser imports directly to Timeline not Viewer

It's been awhile since I have posted any Mac issues, so here goes:
I have a clip that I imported into Final Cut Express (FCE), which went OK. I then divided it up into subclips, and went to bed. Now that I have opened FCE again, my Viewer is gone (though the Viewer slug is there), and double-clicking on any of my subclips in the Browser takes my directly to a tab in the Timeline, instead of the Viewer.
I have never seen this happen before, and I have played around with the settings, but could not find anything that will turn this maddening behavior off though I do get the feeling that this is nothing more that something being turned on (or off) that shouldn't be.
That being said, if there's a way to reset FCE to its default settings, which I suspect would solve the problem, I would appreciate knowing it.
If I wasn't clear before, I am trying to get back to the place were double-clicking on a subclip in the Browser takes me not to an individual tab in the Timeline, but a Viewer window. Then, if I want to move the clip to the Timeline, then I would do so, and have the clip in the Timeline show in my Browser window.
All help is, of course, appreciated.

I think I solved the problem (sort of). The clip I am using was imported from iMovie 09, after I changed it to a XML file. For some reason this type of file doesn't seem to act the same as a QuickTime file imported into Final Cut Express, which opens up a Viewer window automatically upon a double-click on the clip in the Browser.
This doesn't quite make sense to me as to why a XML file would act in such a fashion, though I had no trouble opening a Viewer when I imported a QuickTime file into FCE.
I will try opening up the file in iMovie 09 (which I cannot stand. If iMovie 06 had the functionality–converting to XML files–I would stick with that)
The XML file seems to bypass the Viewer entirely, and open in the Browser and the TimeLine.
Strange, though it does lead me to search under importing iMovie 09 XML files into Final Cut Express.
    Thanks for the assistance.

  • How do you set the duration of images before importing into a timeline

Is there a way to do a batch import of images where once I place them into a video group I can set the duration of each image automatically by detereming the overall timelime lenght as opposed to manually setting the duration of each image?

I"m not sure you can do this with a video timeline.  If you create a frame animation sequence, you can select all the frames and set the duration, then convert it to a video timeline.  Not the best answer, but I think it will work.

  • Is it possible to import a photoshop timeline into Flash CC?

I'll explain what it is I am making,
I have created a globe in photoshop which rotates 360 degrees, I'm looking to import this into flash to make the globe interactive with markers. I need to earth to be continuously spinning though when a location is clicked, the earth spins to that point, a bit like google earth. I can see there is no way to create 3D objects in flash so I cannot make a professional looking globe without it looking flat and boring unless I can make it on photoshop and somehow import it to flash while still maintaining the 3D attributes of the sphere and still have the earth rotate.
I'm not overly experience at flash but any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jamie

if you can save as a sequence of bitmaps, you can import that sequence into flash along a timeline.

  • Quality Loss When Importing Video into Timeline...Any Ideas??

    Hey all -
I'm fairly new to CS4, so excuse me if this question is a little dumb.
I've offered to edit a friend's actor showreel to familiarize myself with CS4. He gave me a bunch of HD clips: they're .MOV files, and are 1920x1080 and 23.976fps.
I can import a clip and drag it into the preview screen in the middle: it looks fine. However, when I drag it onto the timeline, it suddenly looks faded and blurred. It's not horrible, but it loses the vibrancy of color, the sharpness and the contrast of the original clip. A lot of the quality is gone.
I've tried opening the project with a number of different settings, no difference. I thought it might look OK when I exported it, but it looks just like it does on the timeline monitor: a little washed-out, blurred, just not as nice as the original.....
I'd hate to present it to my pal looking like this, can anyone suggest a solution? I tried everything I could think of already....
    Thanks!!
    B

    Hi Hunt -
many thanks for your reply. I've spent the last couple of days trying to follow your advice and do more research.....still no luck.
Firstly, I upgraded my OS to Windows 7, thought it might help for some reason. Didn't. I downloaded a bunch of codec packs.
    Gspot reports:
    Codec: AVC1
    Name: H.264
    Codec Status: undetermined
So I'm basically running through all the possible output formats, but really it doesn't seem to be an encoding problem: the quality loss happens as soon as I move the file from the preview screen to the timeline.
If you have any othe suggestions I'be very pleased!!
    Thanks

  • Importing Assets and Timeline problem

Hello I have just purchased and installed Encore DVD 2.0 (inside Production Studio), so I am a novice. I have several movies/ shows/ etc. I created by using the Record TV in the Media Center Edition 2005 software. I've converted the DVR-MS file type to Mpeg2 using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0/VideoWave 7.0.
Using Encore DVD 2.0 I tried Importing MPEG2 file using Import as --> Assets and Timeline. It looked like the importing was moving along the progress bar reaching approx. 3/4 point. Then it restarts the importing process again reaching the 3/4 point again stopping with a popup box appears with the text message, "Stream Requested Does Not Exist". When I click the "Ok" button the importing process stops. What can I do to get Encore DVD 2.0 to work properly? Am I doing anything wrong?
My Computer is a HP Digital Entertainment Center Z555 using XP Media Edition Center 2005.
Intel Pentium 4 processor 530j with HT technology
    2.5 Giga PC3200 DDR Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 PCI-Express graphics card
250GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive

As far as I'm aware, Nero is just fine as long as you don't create DVD-Video with it, as there was a bug with this when it seemed to not set the correct start sectors for the IFO & BUP files.
It's just fine for burning from ISO images, and for all other tasks though.
And that bug may well have been squashed by now.
Lots of people use Nero with no troubles at all - it's not my personal choice, but that means nothing.
It's certainly far superior to Roxio.
I'm actually quite surprised that Roxio & Nero are actually playing nice on the same system!
The only possible other "Gotcha" with Nero is the packet writing utility. Do not install this - it can and does interfere with burning DVD, as Packet writing works by helpfully "looking" at your burner(s) on a regular basis to "see" if there is any blank media inserted, and it will offer to format this & use it as a drag n drop type writing utility. It's called "InCD", and if already present should be uninstalled.
There is a list of stuff that is known to cause problems - some occasional, some constant - with DVD authoring at
Neil Wilkes, "Things and Software to avoid when authoring for DVD-V" #, 13 Feb 2006 6:43 am
Additionally, the utilities included with Nero are generally of a much better standard than those with Roxio.
Nero Recode, for example, has been praised in many forums.
There are a lot of users who swear by Nero, whereas there are a lot who swear
    i at
    Roxio!
    Hope this helps.

  • NWDI Activity Import fails to deploy to runtime portal environment

Recently, we have been having trouble migrating activities through our tracks and having the activities deploy into our runtime portal environments.
The activity imports complete, and the CBS does a successfuly build, but the changes fail to appear in the Portal Runtime Environment.
It varies across all activities, and tracks.
Also,  sometimes we can go into the CBS and initiate a build on the desired development component, which will then deploy.  Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not.
      Anyone have any ideas?
Please feel free to contact me at my email address below. Thanks for the help.

    Rajat,
       Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately, the problem persists after we restart the SAP Services on both the DTR and CBS servers.  Clearing out memory, etc... doesnt seem to do the trick anymore.  Oncec the CBS comes back up, and we initiate a build on the DC, changes still are not reflected in the portal runtime.
Are there any cache settings on the Portal itself that handle caching of JSPs, settings that handle when JSPs get recompiled, or any other settings you can think of?
    Thanks.

  • Problems importing cs4 premiere timeline into encore and encoder

Hi. I am still a "beginner to premiere" but have never had a problem importing premiere timelines into encoder and encore and then either creating a youtube file or dvd etc. But only recently it seems there is a problem importing the timeline ... it starts the process but then cannot continue ... it comes up with some error bug after about 5 minutes. Never happended before. I downloaded the latest version 4.2.1 but no difference. Should I uninstall/re-install??

    >comes up with some error
That is just too vague for anyone to help
Post the TEXT of the error message... and do a forum search to see if there are other messages with the same error

  • Importing Synth Names into Logic and the "environment"

    Logic 7.2, OSX.4.something...
I'm brand spanking new to Logic (migrating from Opcode's Vision...) and I have 3 questions:
    1) The Environment: I've read the user manual chapter on "The Environment" and I'm totally lost. Is there not a way that Logic can read what's attached to it via your MIDI interface/OSX MidiCore setup and create an environment based on this automatically? This would be a good starting point at least, but there's no mention in the manual of this function and it seems crazy that one would have to create each instrument, define each channel and so on down the line.
    2) Once my synthesizer and their channels are defined how do you get synthesizer patch names into logic such that when I pick an instrument from the track or arrange window, I can see a list of all patches available in any given bank for that instrument and pick my sound (ie: send the bank or program change message....) This is not explained anywhere that I could find and I'm curious if there's a way to import via sysex or a universal librarian. I'm an old school Opcode Vision user and I have patch names for all my gear and I can't imgine having to type all the names and even if I did, there's nothing that explains how to do this and assign patch change and bank change commands. Can sombody explain or point me to a resource that explains in laymans terms how to set up ones MIDI environment based on their MIDICore setup and get patch names to come through.
    3) Librarian: I can't find anything that talks about a way to manage patches and instruments within Logic and I need some method of being able to manage and get patches into Logic. Does Logic have a librarian or do I need a 3rd party program? If it doesn't have this, can somebody suggest a program that would meet this function and integrate with Logic such that I can import and manage patches?
I hope this makes sense to somebody....
    Thanks WAY in advance....

Hi and welcome fellow former Vision user. I too came from Vision a couple years ago
    to answer
    1) Yes, the 1st time you open logic it looks at your audio midi setup (AMS) to make a basic environment from the info there. if there no hardware synths listed there they will not show up in Logic. Unfortunately Logic does not come with any synth device lists to add to your AMS so there is none to choose from. you will have to define them or you can use the MOTU list. you can download a copy here http://www.digicake.com/midnam/ download the MOTU.sit MOTU uses these midnam files for bank and patch change info. Unfortunately Logic does not use the bank and program information in them, it sure would make setting Logic up much easier
    2) To Get patch names into logic you can type them in one by one or use a word processor doc to import the names Pages 216 and 217 of the manual explain this
    3) Librarian? well sort of... Emagic had one called SoundDiver that I think is still in beta testing for OSX but I am not real familiar with it do a google search and see what you come up with
I am hoping that someday Apple will use .middev and .midnam files to address outboard synths the same way DP does. That is why I use DP when I want to make standard midi files for outboard synths. DP is very similar to Vision in that way. but for everything else Logic rules

  • Trouble Importing Clips To Timeline

I view a clip in my list of clips that are in the upper left hand corner.  I then highlight the clip that I want to edit.  When I try to drag it into the editing area down below, I often lose it or it just doesn't go down there.  Does anyone have any tips to help me to my clip more easily into the timeline?

I only know of one cause for that:
When you have finished importing the video do not go straight to editing but first save the project, close iMovie, then open the project again.
Now the clips should behave themselves!
I hardly ever use the clips pane except for occasionally 'parking' a clip for later use. I always import straight into the timeline.

  • I can see my Aperture library in FCX, but I cannot import them into Timeline!

    Please Help me understand!
I am using FCX 10.0.5 and Aperture 3.3.2 on a Macbook Pro 10.7.4 with OS X.
Last year around november I was able to "drag and drop" video clips and stills from the media browswer into the FCX timeline.
    Now I get this message:
"None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again."
What changed?? What do I do??

I am having this same issue. I actually like iTunes, but it'd be nice if my music didn't disappear.

  • Import jpegs to timeline and they appear green

    Hello,
I import a jpeg into my browser. When i click on it, the still image appears in my viewer. However, when i drag the jpep into my timeline it appears green. What am i doing wrong?
My timeline settings are at NTSC as i have to mix the still images with video. When i test a new sequence set at Jpeg, the same thing happens.
How do i solve this issue?
    Thank You

You get a render green line in your timeline when your clips don't match your timeline. Either for codec or framerate or size. The framerate of a jpeg being <1, FCP has to render...

  • After RT offline, media manager imports DV but timeline imports JPEG qualit

After RT edit I use media manager to re-import seclected full rez footage into a sequence w. DV presets. Afterward when I play the sequence, all the video is a 320x280 jpeg size inside the larger, black 720 frame. Sequence has DV settings but each clips brought into the viewer shows jpeg settings.
Two questions: 1) what am I doing wrong with Media Manager and
    2) can I use "reconnect media" somehow to connect 720 timeline with the 720 video. The which is on hardrive - it was imported during media management operation. Just didn't make it to the timeline. I dont want to reimport a second time. Thank you.
Mac Book Pro 2 gig   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCP 5.0 IMport via DVX 100A

Captured in Offline RT initially, finished the sequence then used media manager to reimport the footage used in the sequence. Defined DV settings for the sequence but even though media manager had me insert all my tapes and captured DV quality footage - which I can see on my drive - the new sequence (which has DV full frame settings) plays 320 jpeg sized video.
I had done a test of media manager before I started the project and it worked. So I may be doing something wrong with a setting somewhere. FCP Help is a little light on explaing the steps.
Also, since media manager DID import the DV footage I need, can I connect the DV seqenece to this footge without having to import again. I tried highlighting a few cuts in the sequence and selecting "reconnect media" but that just reconnected me to the JPEG material.
    Thanks.
