Importing 1920x1080 in cs5.5

I am using panasonic HC-V500 and shot in 1920x1080 also listed as 1080p/50 AVCHD. When I import into Adobe cs5.5 to edit in workspace it plays super slowly on visuals/ is very laggy with audio staying at normal rate- so it's imposisble to view or edit. I can only assume I'm using the wrong project and sequence settings as it's working totally fine in windows movie maker!! Advie would be greatly appreciated. I only need the footage to make a youtube vid so I assume I just shoot in 1080i/25 next time?!
Thanks

  • Error when importing file into CS5

When I tried to import an Illustrator CS5 file into Flash CS5, I got an error from Windows saying that the program "stopped working" and it was searching for solutions to the problem. When it found no solutions, it said that it had to close the program. I've tried three times now and the same thing keeps happening. Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, do you know how to fix it? Please let me know. Thanks!

    Hi there,
I can reproduce the crash. It's seems to be related to Importing all layers to Stage, and selecting the "Place objects at original position" option. All other combinations seem to not crash, so at least it helps isolate what's happening and provides an option for you to import your artwork and continue with your site. I will file a bug and send this to the correct folks for evaluation - I'm not too sure what the conflict is between the AI file and Flash (it's not due to not having AI installed).
    Thanks for posting it!

  • Epiphan screen record imported to PP CS5 problems

    Hello,
I am using the Epiphan VGA2PCI-e internal screen recorder to record an external device. External device is running at 60Hz and the recorder is too. I am getting a very smooth .avi clip. I used the compressor that they recommended "Epiphan recommends using ffvfw MPEG-4 Codec for signal capture."
When imported into PP CS5 and increase the scale I get this:
Basically it is blurry unlike the .avi played in WM player.
I setup the sequence like this:
    Editing Mode: Desktop
    Timebase: 60 fps
    square pixel
    Progressive scan
    checked Maximum render quality
Is this a terrible compressor / codec to use?
Why does the .avi look great but terrible when imported?
    Thanks in advance

DUDE - you and I are having the EXACT same problem.  See my post: Capturing webcam as DVAVI type-2
I'm using one of ephiphans VGA to USB devices too.  YES - every codec I've tried is crap in Premiere and After effects, even though it plays fine in Windows Media.  In After Effects, I got repeated, jerky frames etc.  And rendering it didn't help.  So, I re-encoded the whole thing in Media Encoder.  It played fine in AFX then, the problem is that it encodes at about a rate of 10hours/per hour of video.
You don't have to use the Epiphan software to capture, as your computer sees the device as just an ordinary webcam.  It seemed like an easy thing:  just download the cedocida DV codec, load it in to any number of software titles and capture as DVAVI type 2.  As a 2nd choice, I'd take H.264, as long as it plays back smoothly in Premiere or AFX.  I've tried both (with DV codec just mentioned and the x264vfw codec).  Terrible results either way.  I've tried Virtual dub, Captureflux, Epiphan, Debut Video and GraphEditplus. Failure in every case.
I'm suspicious that our problem may stem from the inconstant frame rates that the epiphan device spits out.  Debut video allows you to change the frame rate of the device.  It thought this would fix it - setting it at 29.97 or 30.  But it doesn't. The software crashes.  I also had high hopes for GraphEditPlus, as the software allows so much flexibility.  But so far, I have not figured out how to import the DVAVI type2 codec.  And I don't know how to force the frame rate in graphedit either, but I haven't looked in to this much.
Oh, and here's the Cedocida codec: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/cedocida_dv_codec.htm
Epiphan can see it, but it can't encode to it because of the frame rate (gives an error message).  I haven't tried the Panasonic codec, but I've heard it's outdated and really buggy anyway.
I still think our best bet is software that can force the frame rate somehow, whether with the DV codec or H.264
I am working pretty much full-time trying to find a solution to this problem, as I need something ready to go by next Monday.  If you find a fix - PLEASE POST IT!!!

  • Vector Import Problem with CS5

    Hi everyone,
I really need help with this problem as it's driving me round the bend! I've searched the forums for answers but even though i've seen a few people with similar issues, i still haven't found any answers?
    Here's my problem.
I'm using illustrator and photoshop CS5 to create web site designs and all of a sudden (i don't remember changing any settings) whenever i copy and paste a vector image from AI to PS the image always renders jagged? The page sizes are always over 1280 x 800px so this isn't a case of small images pixelating. Both resolution settings for AI and PS are high (300 ppi) so i can't work out why this has started happening.
I've tried everything to overcome this (placing the files, importing files etc) but the result is always the same, a horrible crappy jagged edge?????
    Any thoughts?
    N
By the way i'm using a MB Pro running OS X 10.6.7

    Trash the Photoshop preferences files.
    Quit Photoshop.
Go to /Users/[your acount]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings/ and move the "Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.psp file to your desktop
    Relaunch Photoshop an try again.
Often unexplained isues can be the result of a corrupt preference file. If this works, you can then simply trash teh file on your desktop.
If this does not work, you might try trashing the AI prefs as well.

  • Avi file imports into Premiere CS5.5 but not CS6

I'm trying to move a project from CS5.5 to CS6.   I have several SD avi files that CS6 says can't be imported because they're "damaged or un-supported".   After several experiments I found -
    1) The existing CS5.5 project works fine.
    2) A new CS5.5 project can import the files that fail in CS6.
    3) The files play fine in Windows Media Player.
    4) Removing Media Cache and Preview files had no effect on the issue.
I'm running Premiere 6.0.3 (most recent Cloud version) on 64-bit Windows 7.

Exactly what is inside the files?

  • Unable to select audio to import in Flash CS5

    Hi,
I'm working the Flash CS5 app on my Mac OSX v10.6.8. I've been working on a cartoon lately and trying to import some audio to my library, but I can't even select a file (of any type; .wav .mp3 .wathever). I already reinstalled Flash, updated quicktime and searched all over the web for a possible answer. Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gene

you can't see any sound file when trying to import into your library?
if so, when you click file>import>import to library, check near the bottom right of the import to library panel to see that "all files" are in the combobox.
or you see an error after selecting sound files?

  • Import 3D Objects - CS5

I've seen a few older posts on the subject of importing 3D objects into AE but none specifically speaking to CS5 and any new capabilities.  The developer of Bluff Titler asked the question on what formats could be exported from Bluff Titler so that users could import their 3D text objects into AE.
What is the "best" file format and could that object, say some 3D text, be moved about in 3D space within AE?  Is there a specification for the 3D file format and where can it be found?
Not interested in getting Photoshop involved at all, just wondering how we could use Bluff to generate object and wondering how useful they are in AE?  Thanks.

"...you still  need to import your 3d object into PS: Extended, and then import the  .psd file with PS Live enabled into AE."
    Thanks David.
    So the workflow is:
Export from 3D app (i.e. Bluff Titler), in OBJ or DAE format,
Open in PS and save as a PSD?  Does one need to  manipulate the 3D object in PS before saving to PSD?
Is there a way to simply export directly to the PSD format or is there some licensing issues with that?

  • XML import issues in CS5.5, but not CS5...

    Hi guys,
I'm currently using the Production Premium CS5.5, and have been trying to import an XML from Final Cut Pro 7 into Premiere.  The issue is that none of my audio tracks appear in the sequence, nor any video tracks aside from my 2 main tracks.
This isn't a problem in the previous version (CS5), as I can import the same XML and all my audio tracks, etc. show up in the sequence.
Since I just started playing with CS5.5, I'm wondering if there's something I don't have set up properly?  Is there a conflict w/ having CS5 and 5.5 installed?  Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?
Thanks for the response, if you got it.  I really really appreciate it.

So, I started figuring out what the issue is, but not how to fix it:
I had some overlay graphics (Quicktimes w/ Alphas) that were placed over my main video track, which I suppose Premiere doesn't like.
The thing I can't figure out, is why I could still bring in the rest of the project with CS5, but not CS5.5.....

  • Can I import settings from CS5's Live Trace to CS6's Image Trace?

I'm loving CS6 Illustrator, except for one thing. Image Trace. Here, Adobe seem to have taken away the two most usefull settings from Live Trace, and replaced all the presets with ones that are pretty much unusable. I almost always used either 'Comic Art' or 'Lettering' to trace hand-drawn images, but they're both gone. None of the new settings are good enough, even if I make a custom one. The main issue is that the sliders in Image Trace are for completely different things to those in Live Trace, so it's difficult to translate one set of settings into the other.
With Image Trace, I cannot get the same results as with Live Trace, and so far, have found myself having to have Illustrator CS5 open at the same time as CS6, just so I can get workable traces.
I don't know if it's possible, but is there any way to import the presets from Live Trace, or even the full tool, into CS6, to replace the new Image Trace presets?
If not, does anyone know how to make the equivelant of Comic Art  in Image Trace's new settings?
Images, to help define the problem: This is a close up of a file I was trying to trace, showing the major difference in quality between the two CS versions.
Left: CS5 - Comic Art setting.
Right: CS6 - This is a custom setting, but is the closest I have come to Comic Art thus far.
As you can see, the definition of Image Trace is far lower in quality than Live Trace, giving me one large connected blob of colour rather than the distictly separate lines produced in Live Trace.

I can't show the original as it is a HUGE file, 10000 pixels wide. I scan as high as my scanner will go. And that 10000 is shrunk down already so as not to exhaust my RAM. Below is a smaller version, but yes it is a b/w drawing but on a colour scan. It's been treated using Levels in Photoshop to remove the grey/blue colour of the paper, but nothing else.
I can see round the edges of the black in Photoshop that there are bits of colour, mainly reds/yellows. What do you think I need to do to it to help it trace better?
Actually, I'll throw in my Image Trace settings too, so people can see what settings I'm currenty trying... I got the Threshold directly from Comic Art in CS5.5.

  • Generic import error - Lion - CS5.5 - Will not import

Hi. I just upgraded to cs5.5 with Lion and now a number of my previous cs4 projects will not load various flavors of video. One major problem I discovered was that after installing Lion, both of my Quicktime folders in the user and system library were missing (the system library is hidden in Lion by default, so I revealed it). These folders hold various quictime components, which I recreated from a backup. Now Quictime will play all of the video, but PPro responds with a generic import error. I have included a number of screen shots below showing the video file and library info. (I wish bridge would interogate the files and provide this information, but I use video spec). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have a number of clients waiting for resolution. Thank you. -Jeff

Well, I solved the problem but I had to de-install Lion to do it, so I will not close out the thread until I update the post after the next Lion attempt.
Here are the steps I took.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard from the DVD. This erased everything on the HD.
    Update all system software.
    Download and install Quicktime 7.6.6
Register Quicktime Pro (Fortunately I had the old receipt) This drops in the AppleMPEG2Codec.component
Copy over the AppleHDVCodec.component to the user library.
    Install CS5.5
    Big smile.
One important change is that I did NOT install Final Cut this time.
I just copied in the missing AppleHDVCodec.component to the library.
I had this file in the correct folder post install of Lion, but for some reason PPro would not recognize it.
My best guess is some other file (maybe a framework file) in the library was corrupted or altered during the Lion Installation.
I also have not copied over all of the other codec.compents yet. I plan to drop these in as needed if new import errors occur.
Below are the screen shots of the new librarys.

  • Scanner missing in Import of PS CS5?

    Hi again,
I just stumbled over another problem in PS CS5
I have a Canon Lide60 Scanner and in all previous Versions of PS it was just there in the Import-Menu, without any action from my side.
In CS5 however, it is suddendly missing.
I tried re-installing the Scanner-Driver, but there is still no entry in Photoshop?
Any ideas what's wrong here and how to integrate it again ??
    (Vista, 32 Bit)
    Thanks!
    bw

Adobe made their "stupid" decision because the Twain plug was causing problems and they couldn't support it universally under those circumstances.
    From the download page:
TWAIN - The TWAIN scanner plug-in is no longer installed with Photoshop CS5, but is available via web download. Supported on 32-bit Windows, 32-bit Mac OS, and 64-bit Mac OS with scanners that support 64-bit scanner drivers.

  • CS5.5 Crashes When importing Projects from CS5

I'm trying to update ll my CS5 projects into CS5.5.  However it will load the project, but while indexing the files it goes super slow and eventually stops.  Then crashes.  This happens to all of my CS5 projects I try to import.  CS5.5 however works perfectly fine on it own.  Is there a fix for this or do I have change a setting since I still have both CS5 and CS5.5 installed on the same computer?

First of all, projects don't have these settings any more, sequences do, and you can have any number of different sequences in any given project.
Right click on a clip in the bin and select New Sequence from Clip.  That will create a new sequence that properly matches your footage.  Then delete the clip that's there, and Copy/Paste everything from your old sequence into the new.  You may have to go through and adjust some edits, depending on the settings for the first sequence.

  • Importing PNG in CS5.5 used to also auto-create a symbol, this is switched off in CS6

I regularly need to import lots and lots of screenshot (.PNG) files into Flash and then animate them.  In CS5.5 it was much eased by the feature which automatically created a symbol for each PNG file.  I could then easily manipulate the symbols in Flash.
However, in CS6 this auto creation of symbols seems to have disappeared.  Please, I need this feature - it saves me ages.  Can anyone out there tell me how to turn it back on.
    Thanks
    John

I am on a PC... when I first got my hands on CS5.5 (subscription plan) I think I remember it was automatically creating symbols out of images that I imported.  While my preference would be to not do that, I do not remember doing anything to change it.  When I import images now, the symbols are no longer created, so it might have been an update that changed it to be like every other version of Flash... creating the symbols might have been a mistake that they fixed.
I cannot find anything to turn the feature on/off.

  • MXF file importing trouble to CS5

I just got a Panasonic hpx 250 camera and its native files are MXF files. They are not compatible with my software, premiere CS5. Can anyone recommend a converter or other fix that will allow me to use MXF files with premiere, something that will link the audio and video files without degrading the video quality, or taking forever to render?  It has been suggested that an upgrade to CS6 may solve the problem.  Can anyone tell me what's new in CS6 that would make importing MXF's easier?
    Thanks!

Thanks Jim, you got me thinking about those presets and I started monkeying with the media browser.  The MXF files import cleanly through it.  I was also not saving enough of the MXF contents file to my hard drive.  Yeah, you need more than the audio and video.  By saving the whole folder,  opening in the media browser and importing from there, seems to be working like a champ.   I’ve never had to go through the media browser before, but I usually deal with only with .avi or mpeg files.
Thanks again for the nudge in the right direction.
