Importing a blog

Simple question: I have an existing blog created with a different application. It supports various RSS feeds. It has an "export blog" option.
Can a create an iWeb blog and "import" my old blog, preserving all the archived posts there?

No Ben you cannot import anything into iweb. It can only edit things that are in the domain file.
Could you keep your old blog and just provide a line with previous archive or something like that and put a link to it.
If your new blog is more attractive people won't mind. (I wouldn't I would praise you for making the experience better).

  • Problems Importing Wordpress Blog

    I tried to import the blog from wordpress in the regular way. I got the XML file from Wordpress which had all of our posts, I followed the import wizard on the Business Catalyst page I'm making, but each time it would pop up with an error about mandatory colums. Why would it do this?

    I suspect that the XML file might be malformed. Please take a look at this article http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1748 and make sure that your file is fine. If you're still having issues, submit a case with support and supply the file, the site url and the name of the blog you are trying to import it into.

  • Importing iWeb Blog to Blogger

    It seems impossible to export my iWeb Blog feed and then import it to Blogger... are there any work arounds? iWeb has limitations that aren't good for the blog set up. I'd like to use it for something else and move my blog to blogger. Thanks in advance.

    If you want to be able to transfer your blog comments from MobileMe to another blogging platform, there is more support for doing this via the Wordpress blog.

  • IWeb Blog - Importing Friendster Blog

    I have a blog on Friendster that I'd like to continue in iWeb.
    Forgettng iWeb right now, as a first step, does anyone know how to export text AND images from Friendster blog to a file/group of files to my computer? (second step would be to re-arrange and upload to iWeb, but I can't get the first step done!).
    Current Friendster export generates an HTM file with all the text, but HTML references to locations on the site where my images are; any automated way to download these from the site, save to disk, and update the reference in the original HTM file?
    Thanks
    Alan

    Before you spend time on this, make sure you know how limited iWeb blogs are. There may be a lot of things you can do with Friendster that you can't do with iWeb.

  • Importing eBlogger into iWeb Blog...

    Good Afternoon,
    Is it possible to import previous blogs from eBlogger into a blog made with iWeb? Would like to keep what I've done previously, but, from what I can tell, this may not be a viable option.
    Would love your input on this...can it be done? Is it worth it?
    Thanks...
    TMCinDC

    No, you can't incorporate anything into iWeb as it has no import facility.
    The best you can do is display your eblogger blog in iWeb using iframe code - place the code into an html snippet and people can scroll the site within your iWeb site.
    Other than that, there is nothing that can be incorporated into iWeb.

  • Append to a Blog Posts List

    I've noticed various ways to bulk-append to a List in SharePoint 2010 - some seemingly better than others - using Excel and Access.  Do y'all suppose it's possible to bulk-append to a SharePoint Blog "Posts" list?  There appear to be
    some read-only columns that might make this difficult.

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you need to import bulk
     blogs into SharePoint blog site’s posts library .
    For your issue, here is a blog import tool which is available for SharePoint 2010
    http://www.blackbladeinc.com/en-us/products/blogimport/Documents/BlackBlade.BlogImport.UI.zip
    For more information, you can have a look at the blog:

  • SharePoint 2013 - blog upgrade

    Hi,
    I did an upgrade of SharePoint 2010 to 2013. Most things work fine, but I have some issues with upgrading a blog. I got these scenarios:
    I upgrade the blog in 2010 design, everything works fine, until I make a visual upgrade to 2013. After visual upgrade the blog still seems to be fine, but when I select a category to filter categories, all links are broken. So f.e. I klick a category linked
    to "Lists/Kategorien/Category.aspx?CategoryId=15&Name=Firewall" for category "Firewall", all results are linked to "Lists/Kategorien/". Even the categories in navigation are now linked to "Lists/Kategorien/".
    To solve this I tried various export/import settings, with features enabled/disabled, but no success. ULS Log didn't show usefull informations at this time. So the Question: Why do I experience this behavior? Any idea to solve this?
    I get a different error, when I try to import the blog, when the site collection has publishing feature enabled. Than I don't even can access any blog site, I get an error: sorry that didn't work. On export site is publishing feature enabled, dunno
    why I can't just import here.
    Hopefully I can get some help here. Best solution for me is to get error 1 fixed, I don't need publishing features. SharePoint 2010 was installation with SP1 and CU august 2012.
    Thanks for help
    iruhe

    I experienced this issue after removing the Blog Tools web part from the page.  Once I added it back, the issue was resolved.

  • Importing a WordPress site to BC

    Hi
    This might seem like a stupid question but before I heading towards a nightmare of copy/paste just wanted to know if there is a way to migrate or import a full WordPress website into BC. I am only interested in the pages and content not the actual design.
    Cheers
    Micha

    Unfortunately you cannot import Wordpress Site into Business catalyst, due to platform. Wordpress uses PHP and Business Catalyst works on .net Platfom. However you can try to import your blogs from Wordpress.
    Export the posts from the TypePad or WordPress blog.
    Do one of the following:
    For an existing blog, select Modules > Blogs, and then click on a blog name.
    For a new blog, select Modules > Blogs, and then click Add Blog.
    Click Import Posts and select TypePad or WordPress as the blog engine type.
    Click Browse and select the file you exported.
    Click Next.
    Hope this helps.

  • Blog Sites

    What blog sites can you use with iWeb '09?

    Hi  ,
    For your issue, it is  impossible that merge two SharePoint 2010 Sites directly. For a workaround, you can refer to the steps as below:
    If these two blog sites are not in a same site collection, you need to move one blog site for making these two blog sites are in same site collection. You can use PowerShell cmdlets to export and import the
    blog Site or the SharePoint Content Deployment Wizard Tool:
    http://spdeploymentwizard.codeplex.com/ .
    Then you  need to copy all the users from one blog to another blog site. You can refer to these articles:
    http://suryapulipati.blogspot.com/2012/11/get-all-sharepoint-users-and-groups.html and
    http://get-spscripts.com/2010/07/adding-groups-with-permission-levels-to.html.
    Finally you need to go to the site collection where the two blog sites are located in ->Site Settings -> Site Content and Structure, copy the content you want to retain.

  • R190 System Update - Scheduled to go live September 10th, 2013

    We are announcing a new Business Catalyst release, scheduled to go live on Tuesday, September 10th.
    Please refer to our blog post for an overview of all major changes.
    In this release, we're introducing the ability to set metadata for products, similar to the previous feature we've done for blogs.
    To show the Products Meta description, change the HTML for the Individual Product Large Layout to include the corresponding tags in the <head> tag. You can use {tag_productmetatitle} and {tag_productmetadescription} to output the product title and meta description, and they can be used for other meta properties as well.
    Here's a code snippet:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>{tag_productmetatitle}</title>
      <meta content="{tag_productmetadescription}" name="description" />
      <meta content="{tag_productmetatitle}" property="og:title" />
      <meta content="{tag_productmetadescription}" property="og:description" />
    </head>
    <body>
    ...... rest of the product template code..........
    </body>
    </html>
    To populate the Meta description for your products, you can use the product import - we've updated the export and the import files with a Product Meta Description column, it's the last column in the import template file.
    Note: You still need to import all the product information (fill in all the rows and columns) even if only wanting to update the Product Meta Description.

    Hi Liam, I was using that new dropdown section but the Meta Description wasn't saving. I did 10 yesterday and today some were missing which I'd definitely done yesterday. (Maybe it's something to do with onesaas which exports and reimports the products to sync with our accounting and inventory system?)
    To be on the safe side I'm now copying the data from meta description into a custom 1 field in case it vanished again i can recopy and paste it back and not loose hours of rewriting etc.
    Plus I found the tag to show the more options-keywords on the pages too.
    So what i've learnt (in case anyone else is as lost as me..)
    Don't touch product page properties. (I'm going to go through and delete all mine)
    On the product large layout page have:
    <html>
        <head>
            <title>{tag_productmetatitle}</title>
            <meta content="{tag_productmetadescription}" name="description" />
            <meta content="{tag_tags}" name="keywords" />
            <meta content="{tag_productmetatitle}" property="og:title" />
            <meta content="{tag_productmetadescription}" property="og:description" />
        </head>
    (Does that sound good Liam?)

  • Is it possible to insert image that is embedded in XML tag value?

    Hello,
    I am trying to import a blog XML. Blogs can have images in their bodies. So can I have this image imported and placed in content place holder along with other text in the XML? I am using import XML here....thanks

    I don't know that it's a flaw just because it's not the way you want it. That appears to be just how the app is. That's not a bad idea, though. You could give Apple feedback here and suggest it:  Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback

    Just to be clear: there's no app to be installed — simply sign up for a free, web-based blog. (No more +Publish All+ — at least for the blog!)

    No, sorry — WordPress can't import iWeb blogs so I suppose you'll have to copy & paste. You've probably already seen these links, but for other readers:
    http://support.wordpress.com/getting-started
    Some of their design themes have tabs:
    http://mistylook.org
    It's also possible to make a tab link directly to an external URL, such as your iWeb site — see HERE.

  • IWeb RSS size

    I am currently hosting a blog using iWeb and MobileMe, but I would also like to import my blog into a few social networks. On the social networks I don't want to show the whole blog, but only a piece of it, so that when people want to read it all they need to click through to my site.
    Is there a way to limit the amount of content that is put through the RSS feed, so that it will only display part of the blog?

    Hey,
    Try selecting the RSS text (to do this, double click the RSS feed widget, then double click the text inside the feed you you want to change), then press Command-T, and select a different font size.

  • Word data merge into UnDesign

    I was sent a letter and data merge of a letter constructed in Word taddressed  to 1000+ parents in our school district.  They asked to have that letter placed on the district letterhead that was constructed in InDesign CS 5.5.
    I set up  that number of pages in InDesign, placed the letterhead on the master page, but cannot get the Word doc to flow into InDesign so that the pages match on both documents.  Any suggestions?

    If you are looking for an exact match in appearance between the Word doc and the ID doc, I'd recommend printing the Word file to PDF (or postscript file and distill), then place the PDF into a new ID file. I recommend using Scott Zanelli's script to do the PDF import: InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Zanelli Releases MultiPageImporter for Importing both PDF and INDD Files

  • CRTL I in Safari not working in ML

    I use CTRL+I to import my blog into an email  ... but since the upgrade to ML ... it only drops the url link and some text. No more import of all links photos etc ... If I copy and paste, I get the actual files, which makes the email huge ... CTRL I used to just give me an "online" type email that is very small but full of all the photos etc which come into a person's email when they open it ... any info on this?

    In the resulting email there is a box that says how you want it to be sent. The default is "reader". Choose "web page" instead.  The most recently used setting appears to stick so once you've made the choice, it is the default for the future.
    Also, it is command I, not control I.
