Importing a Java class into a servlet...?

Hi guys..!
I have a java class that I would like to import or use in my servlet class....does any of you knows how to do that...?? and in which directory should I put the java class..??

Same way you would import any other class into any other class. With an "import" statement. There is nothing special about servlets in this case, and there is nothing special about the fact that the class was written by you. The only requirement is that imported classes must be in a package.

Hello, i have a small Java problem, i hope somebody knows an answer ...
I try to write a Java Programm, this programm starts and load a new class, this class is not defined inside the running programm, but the running programm should use the new class.
example:

How to import a java class in a JSP

Hi All,
I have a java class file called myTest.class (i made after compilation of myTest.java). I have a JSP page that uses this java class file.
These 2 files are in same folder called c:/test
and iam importing this java class file into my jsp file and that too at the start of this jsp file:
<%@page import="myTest" %>
BUt iam getting an error ..............when iam running this JSP page:
/opt/bea81sp2/user_projects/domains/wliDomain/./Managed2/.wlnotdelete/extract/Managed2_myTest_myTest/jsp_servlet/__test.java:20: '.' expected
probably occurred due to an error in /test.jsp line 5:
<%@page import="myTest" %>
Please advise how to solve this problem

Don't bother with the import
when iam not importing this class file into my JSP, then on my JSP, the class file is not found.

If you understand the OO concepts and wrote the Java class right, then all you need to do is something like:YourJavaClass yourJavaClass = new YourJavaClass();
yourJavaClass.doSomething();After all I rather recommend to use servlets for business logic instead of JSP (read: scriptlets).

You need to add the faces library to you project. To do this, select the project properties, go to libraries and class path and select the faces library.
Using JDev you can also choose one or more project technologies (project properties->technology scope) which will add the needed libraries to the project.

i written simple servlet with doGet(0. I need call java class when i run servlet
my requirement is when i start the server i will call servlet it will redirect to another page.
but before that servlet will run java class. which i have written externally.
i need to run java class by using servlet then it will redirect to another page.

You don't call classes - you call methods.
There's nothing special about servlets except the requirement that they implement HttpServlet. Servlets and other classes they interact with all get compiled into WEB-INF/classes on the server.
To forward a request to, say, "other.jsp" you do:
getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/other.jsp").forward(request,response);

Unable to import a java class in a jsp file

I am trying to import a java class in my jsp.

When I run the above JSP, it says that class 'com.company.portlets.searchApps.object.SearchOBJ' cannot be found.
Why?

The way that JDeveloper organized the files was like this:
C:\jdev1012\jdev\mywork\WksSearchApps\Project\classes\com\company\portlets\searchAPPS\object\SearchOBJ.class
I am assuming that JDeveloper puts the file where they are suppose to be...if not, how do I change that?

To import the Java classes:
Add your jar in the REPORTS_CLASSPATH
Launch Reports Builder.
Note:
You must launch Reports Builder now so that the new REPORTS_CLASSPATH is used.
Choose Program > Import Java Classes to display the Import Java Classes dialog box.

Implement Java Class into Report Builder

Hi, I have problems implementing own java classes into the Report Builder. OK, let say I am running a simple report using STUDENT_ID and STUDENT_NAME. What I wanted to do is to concatenate a string "XXXX" to one of the records in STUDENT_NAME (e.g. STUDENT_NAME = 'Mary').
The Java class that I wrote has a static method:

I also wrote a Formula Column in Report Builder called "TestFormula":

Thanks Navneet. Actually I am new to PL/SQL programming. I have another problem here. I would like to list all the records of the STUDENT_NAME. How would I go about it using PL/SQL? This is the Formula Column I have written but it only shows me 1 record:

If I am to use JNI and C++, will the dll compiled be able to work well in a platform that does not have JVM?

No, but you can start the jvm and run your main class from a dll using jni. And, if you do that, you'll of course need a JVM on the client that'll be running your code.

Ignore some fields while saving a Java class into XML

I've seen in this forum that there is an easy way of saving Java classes to XML files using Castor. I want to save some Java classes into XML, but not all the fields of the class. For example, I want to ignore all lists. Is there any easy way to do something like this:

You can add a managed bean by:
- manually adding a definition in the faces config source tab.
- creating a bean in the overview tab of the faces-config editor.
So yes, you can edit the faces-config manually.

You can use almost any class as a java bean.
To be a bean it must
1 - Have a constructor which takes no arguments (so it can be instantiated)
2 - For properties/attributes which you want to have readable/writable, provide get / set methods of the appropriate type.

We have a program which creates pdf files by using bi publisher.for this program we r using some java package to create a directory in unix whenever invoiceprint program runs.
Now i need to load this class into database,so how can i load this class into database.
I got some samples and docs from google but i was confused with those wether i should load from Oracle/applmgr user.
So Could any one please tell me how can i load java class into oracle database.

Import my own class into servlet problem

Hello, everyone.. I fail to import java classes that i create myself into the servlet. I wonder what is the problem. I would feel grateful if anyone can solve my problem. I noe that if it is in the package let say myclass , C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.29\webapps\lis\WEB-INF\classes\myclass. It will be
package myclass;
import myclass.*;
But, I put all my class file into below directory not in a package.
C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.29\webapps\lis\WEB-INF\classes
and i wish to include let say DBManager.class file into Login.class file which in in the same directory as above. What is the correct code i should put? Thanks for anyone who willing to help me out ~

You don't need to import classes from the same package. They are automatically available in the same namespace. Just use them.
package myclasses;
import myclasses.*; // this line does nothing
import myctherclasses.*; // this line is necessary to use classes from another package.Having said that though, it is always preferable to put your classes in a package. Classes in the "unnamed" package are not guarunteed to be available anymore.
Particularly servlet classes which are not in a package aren't found by Tomcat.
In short: always put your classes into packages.
