Importing a Photoshop CS3 VideoFile directly into Premiere

Hello,
I'm trying to work with the new photoshop feature that you can directly edit your film in photoshop. After i edited a video in photoshop I tried importing it again in Premiere, but the program didn't accepted it. In the help file however photoshop says that when the psd format is supported by Premiere.
I also have another question. When I open an avi file in photoshop that is no problem, but when I open a mp4 I only get a black screen. Somebody knows how to fix this?

You need to render the file in Photoshop first.
File - Export - Render Video.
I know you can render to QT movie - mp4, but
your mp4 may be a different variation, Photoshop doesn't recognize.

  • Importing music form Cd's directly into a playlist...

Cab anyone please advis em if it is possible to import music form Cd's directly into an iTunes playlist? So that on arriving in that 'previously created playlist'on arival there all relvant detail is shown. Including artis and album info dor each track. To date each time I try to import the full list of he tracks us shown, but often kisted as track 1, track 2 etc. etc. Which then requires that I am thenb obliged to do a lot of work referring to the CD cover itself in order to transfer that inmfomation, by typing, into iTunes. Having then compleetd all this info, on trying to then craete a playlist, all the previous inofo I had just typed had completrely vanished fromsight. I was then left with the entire music LIBRARY listing where each imported track was lsited but not with the info I had just typed; but only by the track numer: track 1, track 3, etc etc. again. I the had to crweate a playlist, the transfer each song one at a time into the tha playlist. By the time I had finished I no loher wanted to hear the music. I was way topo tired and needed a rest.
There must be a beter way of doing al this. Please advise. Apologise fo rmy ignorance, I am 80 yers of age and no expert in thsi technology. Thanks

    Hello Gordon,
First of all you don't really need to create a playlist to get the songs onto the iPod if you are managing it manually so you have an extra step in there that's not really necessary. Once your album is imported you can locate it using the browser and drag the tracks from there to your iPod.
If the songs have all the information on artist, album etc. filled in then you should be able to find them using your iPod menu. I think I know though why you might have had difficulty with your Phantom album. I suspect that the songs on it are all listed as being part of a compilation.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation (an album where the tracks are by various artists), they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu). Look to and see if "Part of a Compilation" is ticked. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists. You'll find compilation albums listed separately on your iPod and they can also be grouped separately in the iTunes browser.
To set Compilations in the iTunes browser open iTunes and go to File>Preferences>General and tick the box "Group compilations when browsing" then choose OK. When this is set you'll see "Compilations" as the top entry in the browser's Artist pane. When you click on it you'll find any albums listed as compilations will appear in the Album pane.
To view Compilations from the main menu of your iPod scroll to Settings and press the centre button. Scroll down the list that appears until you see Compilations and check that it is set to On, pressing the centre button switches it on or off.
Scroll back up the list to Main Menu and press the centre button again. Scroll to Compilations in this next list to switch the setting to On then press Menu a couple of times to return to the main display.

  • Does Audition 3 integrate directly into Premiere Pro CS3?

On occasion I need to use a filter like De-Esser that is not in Soundbooth. Can I go directly from Premiere Pro CS3 to Audition 3 and back again like the previous versions?

    Hi Bill,
If Audition is registered in Windows as the default application for WAV files, then using "Edit Original" from the Premiere Pro right-click menu will automatically open the file in Audition.
There is also a thread at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b59d8f/0 that documents a different method, however it is not something I've had a chance to try.

  • How do import footage off of a DVD into Premiere?

I'm helping a lady do a project that involves capturing video and importing pictures, etc. It's just like a little home video for her grandkids and family, for the intro of the video she wants to put in footage from a "Blues Clues" kids DVD (bascially the first 5 or 10 minutes of the DVD). Is this something you can do on Premiere 1.5? I'm guessing you would have to rip the video which I did try, but when I ripped it, I get a Video TS folder, is there a simple way to import that into Premiere? Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Jason,
There is no direct way to do this. The VIDEO_TS folder will have one, or more .VOB files. What you are looking for is probably in the first of these. You might get lucky (.VOB files can contain a lot more than just the Video & Audio), and copy that VOB to your computer. Rename it with an .MPG extension, and try to Import that - might work for your purposes.
One could do a capture via a DVD deck, a capture card, or bridge, and the software that comes with the card. One could also use their video camera as a bridge, if it has pass-through capabilities. One could record from the DVD player WITH their video camera to tape and Capture this in Premiere.
Or, one could rip the DVD completely. This ARTICLE explains much of that.
Good luck. Premiere Elements does a much better job, with some VOB's than does PrPro.

  • Avi imported in Photoshop CS3 is blank / transparent

Hi, had this problem and have spent all morning finding a solution. I found another thread on here that answered it, but I thought I'd share the solution again for anyone else with the same issue.
Problem is when importing an avi file into Photoshop CS3 (XP in my case, can't see that it would make a difference), the file opens as a transparent or blank document. Video ran fine in Windows Media Player.
Photoshop uses Quicktime encoding, so test it in there first. If it doesn't play, you need codecs. Download gspot (great little freeware program), it will tell you what codec you need. Google and hope for a Quicktime version of it. In my case, it was the EnSharpen codecs from Techsmith, http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp.
After doing that, the avi ran like a dream in Quicktime for me. However, when putting it into PS, it was still mostly transparent and missing a great deal of the movement.
This was solved by going to Layer > Video Layers > Interpret Footage. I chose Ignore under Alpha Channel, and voila, all perfect!
Hope that helps someone else with the same issue at some point. :)

This ARTICLE will give you some background on AVI "wrappers."

  • Importing photos in pre-defined order into Premiere Pro

We have CS6 Production Premium, as well as Lightroom.
Previous to this, we used Photshop Elements and Premiere Elements (both 9.0).    We were very familiar with ordering photos in an Album within Photoshop, and then importing them into Premiere to make a slide show mixed with video.
How do I accomplish this using CS6?   We see how it is possible to make a Collection in Lightroom and rearrange photos, but doesn't seem we can dump those into Premiere Pro and maintain the order.    Is there some function in Bridge to do this?
Appreciate any input you might offer.   Thanks much.

You will get better answers in the PPro forum.

  • How do I import an Iphoto Project (book) directly into Aperture 2?

I have a book that I did as a project in iPhoto '08 that I would like to import directly into Aperture 2 and "redo" the book using Aperture's new features.
Although I imported my iPhoto library I don't seem to have this project in Aperture and when I look to export the project from iPhoto it wants to export it as a movie.
Since the photos from iPhoto are in Aperture I figured that importing the iPhoto project would be easy. I don't want to recreate the book again if I can help it - I just want to import and modify it in Aperture.
Is it possible to do and can anyone tell me how to do this?
    Thanks,

You CAN completely customize the text in iPhoto books, including left/center/right justifications, and it is fairly easy. Here's the workaround:
    1) In your iPhoto book (or calendar or whatever) layout, highlight the text you want to modify or change its alignment.
    2) Launch TextEdit and open a blank document. Paste the text from iPhoto into the document.
    3) Still in TextEdit, highlight your text. Using ordinary word processing methods, modify or realign your text as desired. When satisfied, highlight the customized text and copy it.
    4) Back in iPhoto, paste the newly modified text you just copied from TextEdit into the desired text box, overwriting (or deleting first) the original text. All the modifications you made in TextEdit should apply.
This trick can work wonders for helping make an iPhoto book completely your design.

  • Importing MPEG-2 .MOV from JVC into Premiere Pro CC

hi all, first post on this forum, i am josh.
down to business. i have been having trouble with premiere pro, i am tasked with editing footage for a promotional video for a college. the footage was recorded on two seperate cameras, first was a JVC HM100, second is a Canon 1100D.
now we have most of our footage, and i have looked through it when i was on a mac, but then we i went home to do it at home on my PC running Windows 8.1 and Premiere Pro CC, i tried to import the JVC footage and it says the Codec is missing. but when i import the footage from the Canon, it works fine, so i have to right codec to play mov. but as far as i know, it is todo with the JVC recording with MPEG-2. now converting the footage works, but it is extremely time staking and i think it is reducing the qaulity a bit. i just want to know if there is another way for me to fix the file and import it into Premiere Pro CC. or a different conversion method. i am using handbrake currently as i know the programme and i can change a lot of quality settings. i have a lot of little files to convert, it isnt a case of a few big files, its over 30 little files, so i would like a working queueing feature if i convert file.
    to summarise.
i can import MOV files that were filmed on a JVC camera but i can import files that were filmed on Canon camera, and i beleive it is todo with MPEG-2, that is what i gathered from other posts and forums.
thanks in advance for any help, i hope i gave you all the info you need.
    System stuff:
    OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit
Premiere Pro CC, latest, i have some other adobe programs such as AE, PS, and AI, as well as media encoder(which doesnt accept the file either)
    System Spec:
    CPU: 4670k
    MOBO: MSI G45 Z87 Gaming
    Ram: G-Skill RipJaw 8Gb (2x4Gb) 1600Mhz
    PSU: Corsair CX 600
    GPU: GTX 760

MOV is a wrapper (just like the plastic wrapper on a loaf of bread) so you need to determine what is inside the wrapper (white, whole wheat... ???)
Codec & Format information, read both links in reply #1 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1270588

  • Importing H.264/MPD-4 video into Premiere Pro 5.5.

My Nikon DSLR records video in H.264/MPD-4 but this format doesn't appear to one of the supported formats in Premiere Pro. It seems I should first convert the H.264/MPD-4 files to a supported format before importing into Premiere Pro. As I would like to retain as much data as possible can anyone please advise if converting is necessary and if so on a good format and the compression to use?
    Thanks
      Peter

Are we correct in assuming that you are not a current Premiere Pro user?
Generally I think Nikon's record video in a MOV wrapper similar to what Canon DSLR's do.
You can always download a trial verion of Premiere and see what happens, also, you may like to try Grass Valley's Edius if Premiere cannot handle your files
I have no problems with either Premiere or Edius editing my Canon 7D files and I have not had to convert.  The edited movies I export in MP4 format and also to the HD version of MPEG2, Premiere has export presets that have customizable settings you can tailor to suit and hence retain max quality
By the way Premiere is soon to go subscription only so you can only use the software when your subscription is current, the monthly cost varies to where you live, judging by your monika you are in God's country AKA NZ. if it is NZ where you live you will probably be screwed compared to the guys in the US by that I mean pay more, there are masses of posts in the video lounge on the subscription issue

  • Import Premiere Pro CS3 Windows projects into Premiere Pro CS5 Mac.

Hi there people. I hope you can help me. I have had premiere pro CS3 on my windows system for some years but now run a Mac with Master Collection CS5, my problem is that my existing prproj files on windows format do not open in CS5 Premiere Pro for Mac, I get a message telling me that I need to see the user guide for importing options, I have tried to do so, but there is no information about how to do this.
Can anyone here please tell me how to get around this, as I need to rework some of these old windows projects however my old windows system is totally dead now so I cannot open the files in the CS3 windows version either.
Please help, oh and spare me the useless windows vs. mac arguments.
I hope someone here can help
    Thanks

Since you are trying to Open a CS3 PC Project, you should not have THAT many issues in CS5 Mac. Have you tried both the Open and Import - similar but different operations? Have both methods failed?
One possible problem would be the Effects & Transitions used in the CS3 PC Project. Here is a LIST of the Transitions and Effects in CS4 for the PC, that are missing in the Mac version. I would assume that CS3 and CS5 would be similar. However, in similar cases, PrPro has thrown a more specific error message. I have only Opened Pr 6.5 Mac Projects into PrPro 2.0 PC, and these have been almost perfect. Where there were missing Transitions, I got a very explicit message, telling me what had been used that was missing from my program, and exactly where the problem existed (specific TimeCode). In my case, two Transitions just did not exist in my PrPro 2.0, and one was a 3rd party Transition, or Effect, and I did not have that. Still, the older Mac Projects Opened fine, and I just made note of where I would need to make changes. I would anticipate that similar would occur, if the Mac version did not have some Transition, or Effect, but do not know specifically. Still, based on the warning messages that I got, with such complete documentation, I'd expect similar.
Now another consideration - Assets. If there are Assets that you cannot work with on your Mac, say DV-AVI, or WMV, those would likely throw an error. Again, I would expect that error message to elaborate a bit more.
Do you know the details of your CS3 Projects and their Assets? Anything that you can think of there?
Just thinking here, and unfortunately, I have never gone the direction that you are going, and with the versions that you are working with, so something simple and glaring (to others) might just be slipping past me.
Good luck, and maybe others will have much better input on your issue. Also - welcome to the forum!

  • Importing from Photoshop Elements 6 back into iPhoto 11

I don't want to whine about all the frustrations I've had trying to get used to iPhoto 11, but this one totally baffles and frustrates me and I would be glad for any help. I install all my pictures in iPhoto - I drag pictures to PS to edit, and I used to be able to drag from Elements back into iPhoto - the edited picture would be imported and voilà. Now I get a message telling me the picture is already in iPhoto, and it will not import it. I've change the photo name, and it still isn't happy. So far the only way I've been able to get around it is to save the picture into the documents folder and then reimport. I like the editing factor in Photoshop, I have (past tense) liked the simplicity and simple organization and editing of iPhoto... I hope to not have to move to Photoshop for everything. Help?! Thank you!!

    Maybe this will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto". That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Can I transfer my video tapes directly into Premiere Elements?

Hi how do I transfer my super 8 videos into adobe Premiere. Do I need anything special or can I just connect my old camcorder to my computer and allow Premiere process the video?  One I know is that I will need a RCA cable with yellow (video) and Black (Audio) on one end and a USB on the other end. Where can I get this type of cable.  If Adobe can't process this type of video directly what soft would you recommend to do this?  Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
From the point of view of WLXVideoAcquireWizard, you should have no problems with the Adobe document suggested workarounds for the 13/13.1 DV and HDV data capture firewire situation.
I have Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit and both have the WLXVideoAcquireWizard installed in the place as indicated in the Adobe document. But, I do have installed on both computers Windows Live Essentials 2012 which was downloaded and installed to give selectively Movie Maker 2012 and Photo Gallery.
Windows Essentials - Download Windows Live Essentials
Have you checked that out yet? As how your Super 8 would go through that workaround process, I have not tried that.
Looking forward to further comments so we can offer further comments.
    Thank you.

  • KMZ and 3d Google file import problems (Photoshop CS3 Extended)

I'm new to the forum, so, I hope I didn't miss any answers about this in the FAQs, etc.--I did look.
I have PSCS3 Extended and have downloaded and installed the Google 3D Warehouse plugin. I can access the plugin which takes me to the Google 3D website and I can navigate to and download 3D models. However, when the model is actually brought into Photoshop, it looks very strange. The model is only visible in fixed shape area that appears to be the shape of the initial 3d model. But when I rotate and move the model, it simply slides the view of the image inside the fixed shape area. Very strange. I've tried this with about 8 different downloaded KMZ (Google Earth 4) models and they all do this same strange behavior. Additionally, I downloaded Google's free SketchUp program. The models load and appear fine in that program. I've exported from that program, but the files still have the same problem when loaded up into Photoshop.
I'm really baffled by this. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

    Problem solved!
Prior to my posting here, I had checked Dell's Customer Care driver download site for the latest video card driver and had downloaded the most recent one they had posted for my video card. I also had let Windows Vista "check for updated driver" for the video card and it reported that I had the most recent video driver.
    WRONG!
Instead of relying on Dell's Customer Care driver download web site or Windows Vista's updated driver button, I decided in one last desperate attempt to go directly to nVidia's web site to check for the most recent driver (I know, I should have done this to begin with, but if Dell and Windows offer driver updating ease, I had the silly idea that it would actually work correctly!). The nVidia site had a driver that was one month newer. I downloaded it and installed it and now the KMZ file is appearing correctly in PSCS3, and, so are all the other 3d file formats (3DS, DAE, etc.)!
Hope this information helps anyone else out there who might be having this problem. And, the problem was NOT PhotoShop or Google or the plug-in, the problem was Dell and Microsoft's driver support not updating driver support in a timely manner.
