Importing a Premiere Pro Project file in AE

Hi,
I've just finish editing a long feature with Premiere Pro that I've broken down into 10 project files to allow Premiere not to have the memory crash.
Now I'd like to import in AE the project file to be able to do image stabilization on different shot and sky replacement.
My questions are:
a) If I import the project files, can I make modifications in AE (like color correction, stabilization, sky replacement,...) then save the project so that it can still be opened in Premiere
b) Can I recombined my whole feature into one project in AE or the memory won't handle it as Premiere's memory didn't ?
Thank you.

You can save a Premiere Pro project from After Effects. See
"Export an After Effects project to Adobe Premiere Pro".
Note that there are several other ways of moving data between After Effects and Premiere Pro, including copy & paste and Dynamic Link. See
"Working with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects".

The size of the project doesn't tend to be a problem for After Effects. (Frame size, occasionally; image buffer size, occasionally; but not project size.)

  • Arbitrary data param not importing from Premiere Pro project into After Effects.

    Hi,
I have an AE SDK plugin effect that works in Premiere Pro and After Effects... the effect has a bunch of standard parameters and one Arbitrary Data parameter.
I believe that the Arbitrary data parameter is implemented correctly, and I have implemented all of the cases for PF_Cmd_ARBITRARY_CALLBACK...
    PF_Arbitrary_NEW_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_DISPOSE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COPY_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_UNFLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_INTERP_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COMPARE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_SCAN_FUNC
The only issue I have found, is that when importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects with the "Import -> Adobe Premiere Pro Project" option, the value in the Arbitrary Data
parameter is always the default. There is no problem saving or re-opening projects within AE or PP... and there are no problems with cutting and pasting instances of the effect.
Importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects using the Dynamic Link works correctly... the Arbitrary data is imported.
    Thanks.

Some kind of answer would be awesome... there are Adobe staff members on here right?

  • Embeding Video/Audio with a Premiere Pro Project File

Can anyone tell me how you can Embed your video/audio files with a Premeire Pro CS6 project file?  Copying all the original footage from your specific project and placing it into a folder with the project file? Thanks alot.
    Brandon C.

You can't.  The only asset from a PP project that can be embedded into the project file are PP generated titles.  Everything else will always be a separate file on the hard drive.
As for copying those separate files to a single location, I personally recommend using the proper tool for the job.  File management should always be done using a file manager, like Windows Explorer or Finder.

  • Premiere Pro Project File Damaged, Cannot Open!

someone accidentally rebooted my computer while Premiere was still running on an active project. After rebooting, the project file could not be openned with a message saying it is damaged.
i tried loading the the .prproj file into an XML editor and had it checked. the problem is that it seems the last 40% of content is gone. i know that because when i opened it with notepad, the last 40% lines are blank lines. also, when i put an ending tag to the last available line and saved it as a new file, the file size shrinked to about 60% of its orginal size.
Could anyone help me with this? is it possible to view the blank lines? i don't have any auto save files...and this is a project 4 editors had spent hundreds of hours working on...really wouldn't be effiecient to start over and the deadline of the video is one week away.
help please.i thank you so much in advance!

David, I think the problem is that I (and Phil and Craig I assume from their responses) cannot find a directory called archive(not in the project directory and not in any other adobe directory), nor any documentation that CS3 is making an autocopy each time I save the project. I wondered if you were referring to an earlier version of Premiere.
In what tab in the preferences do you find "maximum number specified in Preferences" that is not autosave.

  • Importing Premiere Pro project into After Effects ???

When I import a Premiere Pro project into After Effects, it splits every shot onto a new track, ending up with a couple of hundred tracks at the end.
Is there a way to avoid this ?
Particularly, since I'd want to keep the option of bringing the project file back in Premiere for further editing.
My colorist suggested that I nest reels of my timeline and split it that way so that when he imports it he has nests on one timeline and the multiple tracks in each of those nests. Still, this feel very clunky.

An editor at work was using our Avid to do a grade on a short promo and I
wanted to see what I could do in After Effects. So when he was out of the
office I exported the timeline as an AAF and copied the OMFI media. When I
brought the project into After Effects I ended up with a massive number of
layers and freaked at first at the idea of doing anything with it.
However I thought about it again and decided to precompose all the layers,
as this gave me just one layer to work with. I then added a couple of
Adjustment Layers above it; one with a Levels effect added and the other
with HSL. I also added Masks to the Adjustment Layers so I could vignette
    any effect.
The key to working like this was to use Hold Keyframes at the beginning of
each new shot for each effect, Mask Shape and Feather. I could then adjust
that shot, scrub to the next shot add new Hold Keyframes adjust that shot
and so on. When I wanted to repeat any effect settings on a shot, I just cut
and pasted the relevant keyframes. Mixes across shots can be tricky but you
can always go back to work with the original shots on their separate layers
    if you need to.
I ended up with a quick grade that stood up nicely against the one done on
the Avid and I only had work with 3 layers on my timeline!

  • Premiere Elements Project file wount open in Premiere Pro CS6

My friend Just bought Premiere elements 13 and created a Project. I cant open the Project in Premiere Pro CS6. Getting this error message:
"The Project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened."
The Project workes fine in Premiere Elements 13
What can I do? What is wrong?

    If you have done this:
Import a Premiere Elements project (Windows only)
       Select File > Open Project.
Browse to an Adobe Premiere Elements project file, with file extension PREL.
       Click Open.
Premiere Pro converts the Premiere Elements project file to a Premiere Pro project file.
and it wont work Elements 13 is probably too new for CS6.

  • What is the most efficient way to use Remove Grain from After Effects on large Premiere Pro project?

I've tried to use Dynamic Linking both ways but it doesn't the effects don't appear no matter how dramatic I make them. Why couldn't there just be Remove Grain in Premiere Pro so I wouldn't have to go through the headache of figuring this out. I've tried importing the Premiere Pro project into After effects where everything comes up and, since there's so many files, it doesn't seam feasibly or convenient at all. Trying Dynamic Link vice versa didn't lend results either. What can I do??? Projects range from about a half hour to an hour and a half. Thank you.

The situations are well lit; it might be lack of knowledge on the camera settings itself.
Sort that and your workflow issue dissapears instantly.
    There's nothing more efficient?
Yep...read above... but ...any Plugin. eg Neat Video... will take long processing time.
Fixing grain..actually "noise"...is always an image  degrading process as well.  It blurs!

  • Can Premiere Elements 10.0 or 9.0/9.0.1 Saved Project.Prel be Imported into Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5?

The Premiere Pro CS5 Supported Video Project file formats include:
PREL (Adobe Premiere Elements project) (Windows Only)
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiere...a568-8000.html
and we know that the Premiere Elements project file is a project.prel.
Yet if you read the Premiere Elements 10 ReadMe, you see there the statement:
"You cannot import Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0 project into Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 or CS 5.5.".
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/907/cpsid_90745.html
The Premiere Elements 9.0 ReadMe has a similar statement about its prel file and Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/863/cpsid_86324.html
I am wondering if the person who wrote that into the ReadMe forgot to add "for Mac".
Can anyone with both Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 or 10.0 AND Premiere Pro CS5 or CS5.5 (all Windows) confirm what is written in the ReadMe for these version? I do not have Premiere Pro (any version) to confirm and refute what is written in those ReadMe and am looking for someone who has been there and looked at that.
Thanks for any input on this matter.
    ATR

    ATR,
I am still using XP-Pro SP3 on all of my active machines. I am also using PrPro CS2 Production Studio, and PrE 4.0 on only my laptop. I have the recent versions of both PrPro and PrE, but am waiting for my 64-bit Win7 laptop to be built (hang up with Cleveo MoBo's, to be resolved by about May).
When I installed PrE 4.0, it DID break the full CS2 suite, but by that point, Adobe knew of the issue, and had done a KB on the problem. In my case, just doing a Repair Install for each program in the CS2 suite, did the trick, and both programs have run, side-by-side for many years, without a hiccup. However, I have NOT uninstalled any of those Adobe programs, so cannot comment on what might go wrong.
Usually, Adobe programs coexist well. However, PrPro had an issue with CS3 and CS4. If one had both PrPro CS3 and CS4 installed on the same computer, then uninstalled CS3, it took some necessary "pieces" of CS4 with it. Again, the "trick" was to do a Repair Install for CS4, and all was fixed. I have not read of any other, such issues, but they might have just gone unreported, or reported in forums, that I do not frequent.
Wish that I had more to offer, especially regarding PrPro CS 5.5 and PrE 10. I just have not explored those programs, yet - late May?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Importing Flash 8 Content into Premiere Pro Project

We want to incorporate some Flash movies together with some
NTSC DV footage (720x480 with 0.9 pixel aspect ratio). to create a
corporate training video. We're using Premiere Pro 2.0 as our
editor and the file that we want to ultimately produce form our
Premiere Pro project will be an uncompressed AVI file. The video
will likely be viewed either on a computer monitor or from a DVD
    player.
What dimensions should I use when creating the Flash
document? When I do the export from Flash to an AVI file, what
dimensions should I specify for the AVI file?
I thought that I could just create a 720x480 Flash document
and export it to a 720x480 AVI file for import into Premiere, but
that doesn't appear to be the case. The playback quality/clarity of
the Flash portions of the uncompressed AVI file generated by
    Premiere is poor.
Is it a pixel aspect ratio problem.

I am attempting the same task with the same results. If
anyone finds a solutions, I'd like to know too.

  • Premiere Pro Project Manager does NOT include After Effects files.

Warning: Premiere Pro "Project Manager" does NOT include the After Effects 'dynamic linked composition' files associated with the project when "Collect File and Copy to New Location" resulting in the incomplete and loss of all dynamic linked compositions in the new project destination ( folder or disc drive ) .. I know this also includes Photoshop dynamic links and assume includes Audition audio files as well.

Here's the best way: Personal Responsibility.
Put all of your project files in one file. Stop asking PPro to do it for you. It's simple. This is a no-brainer. If you create a linked comp, create it in the same file as your PPro project and files. When you send it to Encore, create the Encore project in the same folder. Works all the time, every time. When you're sure that you're finished with the project for the forseeable future, move the entire folder off your workstation into storage. Do I move a copy of each asset (video clip, image, audio, etc.) into this folder before I import it to my AE or PPro project? Yes I do. Is it overly time-consuming? Not really. I can fly on my machine. Does it beat not being able to open a project later. Oh yes. Yes it does. I'd say I did 50 projects last year this way. When I occasionally had to move a project folder back to the workstation, I had no problems. Everything worked as it did before I off-loaded it. That's because I take personal responsibility for my projects. It's imporatnat that theyt work, especially if I end up having to hand it off to a third party down the road.
BTW, my workstation is RAID 0. If you are using anything less, you need to upgrade. What I'm trying to tell you is that my system works very well. I have not always done things the right way. I have had my share of frustration. The point is that I learned. Now I'm passing that on to you. I use CS5 on an HP Z800 with a measely 12 gigs of ram and a single i7 quad core and the aforementioned RAID 0 configuration and a hacked Nvidia GTS 450. It works quite well. I'm sure I would do even better with another i7, 12 more gigs of ram and a Quadro 4000, but this is what they give me to use.
Additionally, I'm using CS5 at home on a MUCH older HP xw8200 dual dual Xeons, 12 gigs of ram and software-only MPE. Guess what? It works quite well.

  • Importing an Adobe Premiere Pro CC file into Final Cut 7

I am a student working on a video project and I want to import a Premiere Pro file into Final Cut 7. Does anyone know how to do that? I use Premiere Pro at home, but my school uses Final Cut 7. I just want to finish my project at home and then get it into Final Cut 7 at school. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

You might be able to do this by exporting XML from PPro and then importing that into FCut
Otherwise, you should ask Final Cut questions in an Apple forum

  • Premiere Elements project imported into Premiere Pro CS5.5 becomes unusable after first save

I have Premiere Pro CS5.5, and I have been trying for some time to successfuly edit an old project that was originally created in Premiere Elements (not sure which version--probably 7.0). It has the .prel extension. The project imports just fine, and I am able to edit it initially. However, if I save my new Premiere Pro project, close Pr and try to open the new project again, I get the "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements." error message. I have tried many of the various project recovery suggestions people have made in this forum and elsewhere online, but none of them seem to work. I even opened the project in XML Wrench, but there were no errors returned when I clicked "check is well formed." Once I close the project after doing some initial editing, it is gone. Is this a known issue? Is there any way I can be able to edit the old project in Pr and save my work? Thanks!

Have you tried using the project manager to re-copy all elements and timeline etc into a totally new directory. I'm just curious to see if that would make a difference. I'd be intrested to see if when making a new project in this manor if it would because as you have stated the normal save methods haven't.

  • Maximum file size for importing into Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi,
I'm considering recording raw video, no compression at 720p, 30 fps for 20-30 min.  This woudl result in a file that is close to 80 Gbytes.  I'm wondering what the maximum file size for importing into premiere Pro is and if I need to split this file up into smaller pieces.  Any recommendations on how I may deal with uncompressed raw video that is pretty long in length?
    Thanks,
    Serena

There is bound to be some limit somewhere in the program, but you should be well below that. The biggest issue might be whether your computer is up to the task of handling it. If you will post your computer specs., someone will give you comments on that aspect.
    Good luck,

  • Why do the MP4 files that I import to Premiere Pro CC have unsynced audio? (Resolved)

I have identified and resolved.the issue. There is a bug with how Premeire Pro handles importing videos with variable frame rate.
Community Memeber Walter.Johnson found a work-around at the bottum of this post, which also has the identification and submission of the bug itself:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1110005?start=40&tstart=0
I had to convert the video with "constant framerate" selected in handbrake. I'm believe the ffmpeg CLI equivilant switch is "-cfr" but I have not tested to be sure.
I can now import videos with synced audio!
I have recorded several hours of footage using a program called XSplit (a screen recording tool).
The files are recorded in a FLV format and I then convert them to MP4 as premiere pro cant read then in FLV.
In a MP4 format I can import the files into Premiere Pro CC and the video looks perfect, but the audio is unsynced. It is also unsynced in non-linear way so it is not something that I can simply unlink and adjust to compensate as it would have to be done manually every minute.
If I import these same MP4s into other video editing programs they import perfectly fine and have no audio sync issues what-so-ever. I only experience this issue in Premeire Pro CC. I can even tested these videos in 6 different media players and they play perfecly fine.
If I convert the files to AVI using ffmpeg or ffmpeg assisted tools it will not import into Premiere Pro CC and gives a "unsupported format or damaged file" error. Once again, this avi can be played and edited in several other programs no problem.
Here are the details about one of these files:
    VIdeo Codec: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
    Video: 1280x720
Audio Codec: mp4a: MPEG-4 ACC LC
    Audio: 44100hz 63 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)
Anyone have any ideas on why the audio is becomming de-synced in Premiere Pro CC only?

I'm happy to announce to you all that my "mp4 importing" issues has been sorted out. Now I import mp4 shot with the same Windows Phone 8 Device into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Only that for the moment, it doesn't play as fast as with ordinary player.
    But how did I get it to work, you may wonder;
I simply installed Itunes on the system, I also installed an app called media monkey. I can't say which of the apps did the magic but the next time I tried to import mp4 files into Premiere Pro after these installations, it imported seamlessly.
Obviously there's a link between the required codecs and the itunes itself.
You may want to try it and hope it works for you.
Kindly inform us if it works.
    Thank you all.
    Cheers.

  • What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6?

What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6? I am tired of the guess work of "this might work if you do this." Just tell me which is, flat out, the easiest for Premiere to read?? I generally animate in Adobe Flash, and some times with a Live camera. Premiere seems to pick and choose which video file it wants. I import from the File drop down box in the upper left hand corner, then move the video file to timeline. Under the "scrubber" there is a thin red, (or when rendered) a green line. The videos I put in the timeline show a thin yellow line which means Premiere is confused. So, in basic terms, which video format is MOST commonly accepted with the least amount of trouble/hassle?

Premiere has a function now where you can import a clip and drag onto a timeline and it will prompt you with a message about changing the timeline settings to match your clip, (or if there is no timeline it will automatically create one that matches your clip.) This is in CC of course so you might consider upgrading. They have fixed a lot of compatibility issues from CS6 to now. If you don't want to get all of CC for 60/month then you can at least shell out 20/month on premiere. It's worth it. They've made it where you don't have to worry about 99% of all video formats. They just work.
