Importing a Slo-Mo video into iPhoto

We use iPhoto to backup and take the photos and video off of our iPhones.
When I shoot a video in Slo-mo mode, I expect the video to adapt the frame rate accordingly, and in original format, uncompressed so it plays "in Slow motion" -essentially a frame rate that is increased produces more frames per second, producing the slow motion effect.. i expect these 'added frames" to import, thus creating the slow motion at 30 frame per second.
Why does the import process not retain this "feature". Why does it set the playback to compensate for the extra frames and play back at a normal speed?
How do you adjust for this when importing?
Why is there a feature "Slo-Mo" only to be truncated or taken away on import?

Which version of AE? AE has supported P2/ XDCAM/ AVCHD files for a while now, all of which can be labeled as MTS. Without exactly knowing what files, nobody wil lbe able to give concrete advice on converters and such. That aside, there's no need to turn this into a science lesson - simply export image sequences or losslessly compressed Quicktime files (Animation, PNG) from Premiere. any otehr format will only introduce another level of compression, which kinda defeats the purpose of denoising it in the first place...

My iPhone 4 is set up to automatically forward/export all my photos into iPhoto, but it doesn't export/forward any of my videos from the same phone. How can I get my iPhone videos into iPhoto, please?

To delete selected items from a smart album try the keyboard shortcut option-command-delete ⌥⌘⌫ .
You then should see this prompt:
It didn’t import/show any of the videos I’ve shot in the last 7-8 months or so
Then you did probably not import any movies to your currently open iPhoto library during the last 7-8 months.
Have you tried to import your videos using Image Capture?

Problem importing videos into iPhoto 9.5 on Mavericks.

I have had Macs and iPhones for years but I have never used iPhoto until now. I am trying to import a large collection of pictures and videos into iPhoto 9.5. Pics import well, but for videos (avi, mp4, mov, etc) I get an error message "The file is an unrecognized format" and then I get a list of hundreds of videos that have failed to upload. These videos are mostly ones taken with iPhones. I have tried a few things and have even resorted to creating a new library, but the same result each time. Anyone have suggestions?

I launched iPhoto while holding down option, I deleted the old library in finder and created another but the same thing happened. In my case the exact same count of 554 avi's and mov's weren't imported. It lists the files that
weren't imported in a scrollable window. I opened a few of the listed files in quicktime without issue.

Importing avi and mp4 files into iPhoto

I just finished importing my PC photo library into iPhoto and I ran into a snag.
iPhoto does not import video files in *.avi or *mp4 format.
On my old PC photo library, I have video clips taken into mostly avi format with older digital cameras, and which are stored in the same photo directories by date. When I realized that I could not sync avi files to my iOS devices, I used a conversion program to convert the the avi files to mp4 format, and was able to sync these to my iOS devices.
Now apparently iPhoto does not recognize these mp4 files. I would like to have my video clips in iPhoto so that I can sync them as needed to my iOS devices through iTunes and also sometimes use them for video editing in iMovie. Within iMovie, I see where there is a link to the iPhoto video library... so somehow I have to get these into a format recognized by iPhoto.
Can anyone recommend a method that will accomplish this? I assume I will have to convert the avi/mp4 files to some other format. Is there a utility that will extract out the video files from my hundreds of photo directories and let me convert them to the accepted format by iPhoto, preferably keeping the time/date stamp intact?

Here is one way to do it, although you will see there could be variations.
1) Open iMovie
2) Start a new project - name it Stills for iPhoto (or a name of your choice)
3) Go to your EVENT. Find the spot with the cursor that you want a photo of. Right-click (or control-click if you don't have a mouse) and select ADD STILL FRAME TO PROJECT.
4) The photo should be in the Project called Stills for iPhoto.
5) Right-click (control-click) on the photo and select REVEAL IN FINDER.
6)When the finder window opens, right-click and select COPY. Go to your Desktop or a folder of your choice and right-click PASTE
7) Drag the photo from your Desktop to iPhoto

Non-destructive editing is an important feature of iMovie HD 6.
iMovie preserves the entire copy of every clip you place into your movie in case you change your mind at a later stage.
So, if you have cut out one minute from a 45 minute clip, iMovie will have stored two complete copies of that clip. This is why is helps to set import as 3-5 minute clips rather than one huge chunk. As DV runs at 13GB per hour your project files can get very big.
One workaround is to complete the editing of a section of the movie, then export that to Quicktime: highlight the clip/s, choose Share-Quicktime, turn on Share selected clips only, and choose Full Quality from the pop-ip menu.
Once you have saved the stand-alone clip to your hard drive, you can re-import it into your project using the File/Import command, and delete the original long clip/s from the project.

FireWire is the only way to import Canon HV20 Camcorder videos into iMovie?

As a followup to my last post a moment ago tonight 1/30/08:
Is it true that I need a FireWire cable to import Canon HV20 Camcorder videos into iMovie?
If so, the Apple salesperson is wrong.
He told me last Monday that purchasing the new iLife 2008 (that contains iMovie 2008) would allow me to use my current USB cable.
Given I see NO FireWire port on my new MacBook Pro (bought in 8/2006), I don't see a solution.
Note the camera, an HD camcorder (the Canon HV20) did NOT come with a FireWire cable; it only came with a USB male plug on one side of the cable and the other is a small square-like male plug that connects to a female port on the Canon HV20.

The USB cable is for importing still photographs. Not video.
The firewire 400 cable you need is one that goes from the 6 pin full size male connector to the small 4 pin form used for DV.
The cable plugs into the camera in a socket behind a plastic flap near the eyepiece. Its marked HDV/DV. The other end plugs into the MBP on the right-hand side. 4th from the back.

You'll need to install the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.5 - Search the Support/Downloads site for that.
It still may not work. Iphoto 6 is an elderly piece of software now and predates your camera by several years. If it doesn't work you'll need to update to iPhoto 09 or later.

If you want to duplicate your Folder Tree in iPhoto:
Start at the bottom of the hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Album Heading in iPhoto. The pics will be imported and an Album of the same name created.
You can then create the Enclosing Folders in the iPhoto Window (File -> New Folder) and drag the Album to it. Folders can contain other Folders (Nested Folders) and Albums.
However, is your folder system date based? Then this form of organisation is a bit pointless in iPhoto when Smart Albums or the Calendar tool (Click on the wee magnifying glass in the Search Box) mean you can find the photos taken on any day, month or year at a click. With Smart Albums it's easy to find photos from specific range - say, June 3 to August 25, 2009 etc.
If your folder system is theme based - Xmas pics, Birthday pics etc, then you'll find Keywords are much more flexible, and can be used in conjunction with other criteria for making Smart Albums and searches.

Although all Canon RAW files are are suffixed CR2, they are not all the same. In fact, each model of Camera produces a different RAW. What camera do you have? Is it in the Supported List?

Is there an easy way to import those misfortunate photos back into iphoto

I moved my iphoto library to my external drive so that both my laptop and imac can use the synced photo library.
... but now my imac iphoto says I can not open my iphoto library, because is from a newer version of iphoto. And the application then closes.
I figured out my newer laptop has a newer version of iphoto on it.
Imac iphoto version is 6.0.6
Laptop iphoto version s 7.1.5
I Downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This created a new library but says a lot of my pictures are lost. I can search and find them on my external drive and reimport, but there are a lot of them! Any suggestions?
I'd rather use the 6.0.6 on my imac than pay for an upgrade.
I just won't use my laptop's iphoto.
BUT, how can I get my 6.0.6 working again with all of my pictures in tact? Or is there an easy way to import those misfortunate photos back into iphoto painlessly?
Any other solutions??
Will Snow Leopard have the newest iPhoto included?

If you want to revert to iPhoto 6 then you have two choices:
1. Restore from your back up
or
2. Create a new v6 Library and start over.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'.
Go into the Old iPhoto Library (Right Click on the Library Icon and choose ‘Show Package Contents) and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the old iPhoto Library.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
“Snow Leopard” is an OS Upgrade. While we have no idea what will be included with it, on past experience, no, it will not include a new version of iPhoto.

When using JPEG-pictures directly from the camera there are no problems, so the manipulation in Lightroom seem to cause corrupt files. Importing Anamorphic 16:9 video into iMovie

How can I import anamorphic 16:9 video into iMovie?
I tick the "automatic letterbox & pillarboxing" to off
and import.
The resulting video is made into 4:3 format and squashed up!
When I import into iDVD the video is pillar boxed even when selecting widescreen project.
I have a SONY digital 8 camcorder connected to iMac by firewire.

iMovie simply takes your footage for what it really is: standard 4:3 with a letterbox.
you could try capturing with a different software like Vidi or BTV Pro:
