Importing a song as over 700 hours!!!!!!!

When I put a cd in itunes it imported a song as like 758 hours! It only did it with one song on the cd. The rest are fine. itunes recognizes it as a 3 minute song when i put the cd in but takes forever to import it. It has done this more than once and the strange thing is that all the songs that it does this to imports as the exact same time. Like 758 hours. Some cd's have imported fine but there are some songs it does this to. Also, these are the original cd's. They're not burned. Does anyone know whats going on?

GarageBand on iPad to Mac is a one-way export only.
You can sharet a song from your iPad to your Mac and back, but you cannot create a song on your Mac and send it to the iPad as GarageBand project; probably because GarageBand on the Mac has many features that the iPad does not support.

  • Any solution for importing archived songs from HDD?

My old laptop was stolen and I just purchased new PowerMac G5. Back when I imported my CD library (over 700 titles) I have made a backup of the created m4a's onto a HDD. I wanted to import the archived songs into iTunes, but after the "Adding Songs" Processing has completed - no sings were imported. I tried even the old version of iTunes (4 - the same as I've used to generate the m4a's) but the same result - I can't see any songs imported into my library. I tried copying the files onto the local HDD - same results. I tried another PowerBook - same...
There sure must be some way other then re-importing the whole library again...
Any suggestions will be much appreciated...

    Peter hello,
welcome to the Apple Discussions .. bad luck with old laptop ... can you see these files on the HDD ? ... if so use the Finder and drag them to your desktop 1st and then add them to iTunes.

  • The other day I was writing an essay while listening to my iTunes. Then all of a sudden, the power of my house went out. When we finally got power back, and I was able to open up itunes, over 700 songs of mine were deleted. How do I get them back?

The other day I was writing an essay while listening to my iTunes. Then all of a sudden, the power of my house went out. When we finally got power back, and I was able to open up itunes, over 700 songs of mine were deleted. When I looked in the trash, I saw two things labled "iTunes library extras", and "iTunes library genius". When I tried opening them, it said that I needed to open them with an application, and that I needed to chose one. I chose iTunes. When I tried double clicking on "iTunes library extras" after this, all it did was open up iTunes. Nothing else. Someone please help me because I had a lot of songs that I liked, and recently downloaded. And it will be a pain to get them all back if no one can help me.

Are the files still physically on your HD?
[User]/Music/iTunes/Media/Music is the default location. Unless you suddenly have a bunch of new "free space" on your hard drive, they're still where they were, you just need to create a new library file.

  • HT1688 all i want to do is add songs from my new computer to my iphone 4s. But that doesnot seem to be working.. Itunes wnats me to sync and lose all my music on my iphone. This is very frustrating i dont want to lose over 700 songs!!!!

Itunes is not letting me add songs from my new computer to my iphone.
Instead it wants me to sync my music library and lose all the songs on my phone. i have over 700 songs i cannot lose them just because i want to add 10 new songs... PLEASE HELP. also i am using the new CONFUSSING ITUNES 11.

This has always been the case.
All iphones have always only synced to one computer at a time.
Syncing to another will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one.

  • CDs import OK to iTunes Windows but not to iTunes MacOS!  I have had 3 successive audio CDs with the same problem.  They have exactly 20 tracks each, and track 19 claims to be over 14 hours long, and track 20 over 1 hour long.  Any clues?

I have an ageing (2006) iMac running OS 10.6.8 with an external LG CD/DVD writer (I've worn out the internal one).  I am not sure whether this is an iTunes issue or a LG issue.
Incident 1: importing a CD with 71 short tracks via iTunes.  Track 24 is listed as 25 seconds long, but (on the first attempt) only the first 10 seconds actually import.  I spotted it immediately as it also blacked out the artwork and refused to let me paste the artwork back in.  A second attempt at the import worked correctly.  ** SOLVED AT 2ND ATTEMPT **
Incident 2: importing a CD with 20 tracks averaging a little over 3 minutes each.  Gracenote did not recognise the disc.  The first 18 tracks showed reasonable track lengths, but track 19 showed 14 hours 43 minutes 21 seconds [!] and track 20 showed over 1 hour [possibly track 20 was showing the length of the entire CD].  The remaining 2 tracks were successfully imported into my other iTunes on a Windows XP machine (where Gracenote *did* recognise the CD) and transferred to the Mac over my internal network.  The next 2 CDs also had exactly 20 tracks each, and also had track 19 showing 14 hours 43 minutes and a few seconds (not quite the same as the original track 19, but close...) and track 20 showing over 1 hour [again possibly the length of the entire CD].
I tried "Get album artwork" on one of the early tracks of one of the CDs, and it came back with an error "Invalid TOC" - this looks to me like the table of contents is getting corrupted (hence the bizarre track lengths reported, and hence Gracenote not recognising the resulting bizarre profile) when there are exactly 20 tracks on the CD.
But a CD with 21 tracks looks OK, and so does a CD with 8 tracks.
I'm putting this one down as ** SOLVED BY USING ITUNES ON WIN-XP AND TRANSFERRING FILES BETWEEN MACHINES ** but I would like to know what is going on!
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

At the lower bitrates that were popular several years ago, like 128, AAC provides better audio quality than MP3. At some point ( the dbPoweramp experts believe it is 160 ) the advantage disappears, and above that AAC and MP3 are sonically equivalent. However, MP3 still enjoys a huge advantage in acceptance and compatibility across multiple players, programs, and phones.
In any case, it hardly appears to be worth the trouble to re-rip your CDs. But don't discard them either!

  • Iphoto has been importing photos for over an hour and i can't get it to stop. can't stop importing and can't shut down computer.

iphoto has been importing photos for over n hour and I can't get it to stop.  Can't get out of iphoto and can't shut down computer.

iPhoto works best when the source (Pictures folder) is on a different disk drive than the iPhoto Library is on.
And you need to have enough free disk space to work with, the faster the better.
Also, do not keep your media folders and those in your home folder on the same drive as the system, also another bottleneck.
Until or unless you have everything on 1400MB/sec SSD PCIe controller, you want
    System boot drive
Media and data folders and such
    scratch
    backup
    etc
I put iPhoto on an SSD off an SSD PCIe Sonnet Tempo card
If you stop- it, you will need to trash the Library it was creating.
Reading and writing to/from the same hard drive will be slow.
You don't mention which Mac, or how large you are trying to import etc
Also the support page and link to the iPhoto Commuinity is off this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto
Take a look in Activity Monitor. See what the % being used for iPhoto, how many pageouts, how much free space on the various disk drives, and how much RAM do you have installed?

    Hi Lisa Wozniak,
Are you on a slow Network Connection? I would recommend you to Clear the browser Cache and History and  then try again or try using a different browser on a different Network Connection.
Let me know if it works or not.

Don't know how long it would take to import that many photos but if you stopped import and ejected the card ther is something else wrong here.
I would Force Quit iPhoto. Then Restart your mac. Then restart iphoto to see if any or all of your photos were imported. If they ae you're good to go. If they were not imported I would try importing fewer photos at a time and see what happens.

  • IMovie - takes over an hour for Import window to appear

I'm running latest version of Lion and iMovie 11 (9.0.6, I think) on my i5 21" iMac with 12GB RAM.
For the past few months I've had issues with iMovie being extremely unstable. It sometimes crashes in the middle of working, I get spinning beachballs that last for 10 minutes or more, etc. The biggest problem is importing video.  Any method used to import video causes iMovie to freeze and beachball for any where from 10 minutes to over an hour.
I've experienced this with AVCHD or iFrame footage on SD card, HDV from camera via FW or when clicking File/Import to grab video stored on disk.
All of these cause iMovie to spin and spin for an hour before I can even select what video to import.
    So far I have:
    1.  Taken iMac to Apple Store, they did archive and install. Worked fine for two days, then problem came back.
    2.  Created a new user account, used that for iMovie, that worked fine for few days.
    3.  Deleted prefs, fixed permissions.
4  Removed all projects and events.  This is not really an option as I am in middle of a project.
I don't have the 3ivx codec on my machine.
I'm about ready to try a clean install of Lion, provided that I can redownload the installer package.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing these incredibly slow import times?

    Hey
Just as long!  One thing that maybe causing it is that this is a company com
puter with access to long in remotely. Maybe there is done sort of connectio
n trying to be made? But I don't see anything in the system preferences that
    would suggest that.
Not going to restart again unless it will help the problem. Can't loose that
much time in the middle of projects.
Nothing is checked to startup at login=
Any suggestions as to where else to check. Ive run disk utility and the disk
    verifies.

  • I'm having trouble importing my songs from my laptop to my iPhone, and the thing is i don't know whether the iTunes on my iPhone is broken or the one in my laptop is error. I've tried every possible way, but i can't figure it out.

i really need help in this one because it's been like two or three months since i last imported my songs. i think the first cause to this problem was because i imported my song but i think my phone at that time didn't have enough storage or enough space for any other file. so some of the songs were imported completely, but the others weren't. so i thought it was normal bc ive been through this once, but then the next time i tried again, it still didn't worked so i deleted the none-completed imported songs and tried over three times but it didn't work, yet again. so i left it like that for about a few weeks and i tried again but it didn't worked as well. i started to browse some solution to this and i've tried to delete the songs that weren't completed and transfer the songs (which didn't work), and a few others but then i think i miss clicked a button that automatically imports all the songs in my laptop that wasn't on my phone and suddenly a few of my songs from my iphone was labeled not completely imported. i tried syncing but it got stuck on the third step which was "configuring purchased songs" and i tried updating to the new version recently but it hadn't worked too, and i wanted to try to rebuild my itunes but i didnt have the guts to do it. my total play counts has gone mad because the songs that i listen to the most, the 'plays' went from 30 to 20000+, it was just random numbers. i couldn't sync my iphone and so my photos went from 1000 to 2000, my songs were supposed to be 1200+ but its stuck on 700, my videos were supposed to be 6 but it went up to 10.
i know the description may be a little bit too confusing but please try  to understand it because i can't solve this problem.

  • Why is installing 3 applications from a creative cloud packager taking over an hour?

    Dear Adobe community,
I am trying to install 3 Creative Cloud applications, (Illustrator, photoshop, and indesign) on a Windows 7 Hpz420 workstation from a USB hard drive and it is taking over an hour to complete.  i created a package of the 3 applications using the CC packager and move the package over to a USB drive.  Then I start the installer exe it runs and completes, but the installation takes over an hour and 1/2.  My installation of Creative Suite 5.5 from a similar USB hard drive was much quicker, about 1/2 hour.
I don't want to use a remote installer like AAMEE. Is there a different way to create a package that is more efficient? I also don't want to redown the applications everytime I need to install them on a machine and utilize my network bandwidth.
Is this normal ?  I have rebuilt the package with the same results and have installed CC on two different machines with the same results.  I did not see anything in the forums about the installation being so slow so I am concern that I have missed something or that my results are not normal.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Mike

My "Gaming" computer (Toshiba Qosmio X-70A, w/ 32GB RAM, i7 Intel processors @2.7 Ghz, w/ 250GB SSD, 750GB high-speed 7,200 RPM primary & 1TB SSD/HD hybrid drive) was purchase specifically, by me, to learn & use the Adobe "Cloud" Apps with.  This computer is a beast. <And - yet> it takes me days, literally <DAYs> to download all the apps I am using/studying.
I (last week) recently had my 1st "total meltdown" w/ Win 8.1-Pro (what a total P.O.S. "OS" this is!) & have faced the daunting task of re-installing ALL of the Adobe SW available over the "Creative Cloud". This will take days (w/ a direct DSL link to a Cat-6 cable; not on Wi-Fi) to "re-install" all the "Creative Cloud" software I was learning/working with. Insane. I have never seen anything like this!
So, "DLi" - I agree! Adobe's SW (& HW) Engineers don't give a stuff about your time nor mine.
The only things that are of importance to them are (#1 - "Keeping their jobs") ... metering out their "Creative Cloud" in a manner which allows them to investigate EVERY byte on your computer/server/device BEFORE allowing you to use it . . . (hmmm....I do wonder how many dollars per month that information is worth to the NSA / per seat)?) ... and making it "a nightmare" for the user.
    What an insult!
What an horrific slap in the face to each & every one of Adobe's "Creative Cloud" paying customers! (Uhhhm, that'd be you and that'd be me, too).

I haven't shut it down in over a month. I shut it down yesterday for over 12 hours yet upon starting up again the slowness persists. Removed Google chrome application the speed arose slightly any tips? I contacted a support member but unfortunately my warranty has run out, he suggested that may be a result of putting the mac into sleep constantly, and not shutting down and that there may be files i can clear to remedy the issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Regards.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Is there a way to speed up importing of songs?

When I am importing CD's, it seems extremely slow at times. The display shows 1.0X, and I am guessing that means if the CD is an hour, it is going to take an hour to import? Is there a way to speed this up?
When I posted this question before, the only reply I got was some guy asking about my processor speed. That is not relevant as I do not have ability to improve on that at this time. My question is to ask if there is a way to speed up importing by changing a setting.
I am trying to understand why some CD's go lightening fast, and some take over two hours to import one CD.....same machine.
Any help you can offer is appreciated!!
    Suzanne in Atlanta

Not much you can do, but here's some of what you have control over:
Bitrate: Higher bitrates take longer to rip.
*Disk Cleanliness*: Dirty, smudged, scratched CDs take longer to rip.
*Error Correction*: If activated, the iTunes error correction will add ripping time. You may not need it, and I think by default it is not activated. Check to see at: Edit/ Preferences/ Advanced/ Importing/ Error Correction.
*CD/DVD ROM vs. Read-Write*: I've noticed that my DVD ROM drive rips much faster than my DVD RW. If you have multiple drives, try a different one.
In the end though, the limitation will be your hardware (CPU, CD/DVD drive, perhaps RAM)
