Importing AAF Files

Has Anyone tried importing an AAF project into Logic? I don't understand why Pro Tools and DP import all the audio and regions onto the tracks and Logic doesn't.

Hi, did you ever solve this please? I'm having the exact same problem.

I am facing problem with importing aaf file projects, AE refuse to open any aaf files ?

There are a bout a dozen possible sources for aaf files. What is your system? What kind of files are you trying to import? Where did they come from? I'm not having any issues in my workflow. Have you seen this video? It shows the process in CS6.

  • Importing AAF files into Logic Pro 7.1

    Hello All:
Have got a number of song sequences that are in the AAF format, complete with associated audio .aif sound files in the same folder.
These AAF files were created on another Logic pro studio, as they had to export them from Pro Tools into AAF .
i am able to IMPORT the sequence arrange with requisite tracks set up, but when the audio files attempt to load, i am prompted by the finder to MANUALLY locate each audio file to enable it to place into the Logic arrange page correctly.
I get the "where is the file"xxxxxB4Wrww.aif" type message, and can see the actual file located in the finder window, but it won't just locate them automatically.
It takes a loooong time to search out in the list each file and then click DONE to enter it!
Then repeat for EACH file name.....jeez.
One song has 78 audio files associated with it!
A local tech guy in a MAC software dealership said this was a continuing problem he had also with AAF in Logic 7.....
Any hints, before i spend 4 mind numbing hours hand-locating
    these frikkin files?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi All,
I've recently been having problems importing MP3 files into the arrange window. I thought I changed a setting and can't figure out what's up? Also I haven't been able to change my sampling rate to 48K or more. Mind you, I'm in transition right now moving to a different continent and my external drive is stored away so I'm playing and importing from my OS drive. Is that the issue??
    Thanks,

    Hi Francisco.
Please re-post this as a NEW question. I just went over my last few posts, and here you are, and NO ONE has answered your question in three days. That is not usually the case in this forum.
    Cheers
PS please give some details, what actually happens with the mp3 files? what is the actual problem? And also, what sound card / interface are you using?

  • Importing .aaf file that links to .m2t file

Hi, I've been asked to do some sound editing for a video that was edited in Vegas. The video editor is able to export a .aaf file which I know STP will read. However, the video was done in HDV and the audio/video files that the .aaf file refers to are .m2t files.
STP seems to barf on those files, because when I try to import the .aaf, it says it can't find the .aaf file. So, I show it the path to the file, and then is says again that it can't find it. I take this to be a poorly designed alternative to a dialog box that says, "File format not supported."
Regardless, after doing some quick online research, I learned that .m2t files aren't natively supported by FCP, and I'm guessing that's why it's not supported by STP, too.
Does anyone have advice on a workflow that would work for this scenarios? Unfortunately, each video clip was imported to the Sony Vegas computer as a separate file. So the video project consists of literally hundreds of little .m2t files.
    Any advice?
    Cheers,
    Todd.

That is definitely true. So I could convert the 100 .m2t files into 100 QT files. but what do I do about the fact that the .aaf file still references the .m2t files?

  • Unsupported format or damaged file? Importing Avid AAF files into PPro 4.1

I have been trying all day to import Avid aaf into Premiere Pro 4.1.0. I went to Avid and Adobe forums and sites and thought I had it figured out by following the video tutorial on Adobe TV - "Open Workflows Between Avid and Adobe CS4" His Avid was running on a Mac on the tutorial. I believe I followed it exactly but I get an "Unsupported Format or Damaged File" message.  I run ver.4.1.0 on a WINDOWS XP machine.
sSD 720x486 drop frame - no HD.  I am new to Adobe and Pro but I am loving After Effects and would love to transfer some of my old Avid footage over. Here is what I have been doing:
    In Avid
    I Select sequence on timeline
    File
    Export As
    Save In: Desktop
I Create an .aaf file name
Export Setting: Link Audio and Video
    Options - Export As: AAF
Export Method: Link to (Don't Export) Media - including all Video and Audio Tracks
    Save then Save
In Premiere I double click in project bin
Import - .aaf file from desktop - The project and files come up - The Audio plays fine but in program monitor a red box has  " Media Offline"
    Status:  Offline Importer Can't Open
On the new project file I right click - Link Media  - Find my Avid media on my EXTERNAL Avid media drive
Avid Media - Avid Media Files - MXF - 1- Find file by "Display Only Exact Name Matches" -
Click on the correct .MXF file  to link to then - Select  - and get the "Unsupported Format or Damaged File" message.
This is my first post and I usually can figure things out but I am stumped.  If anyone has had this come up or has any input for me I would be deeply appreciative. Thank you in advance.

For what its worth. I shot some DV 720x480 in 4:3 and 16:9 with my little DV camera and imported footage into my Avid MC. I repeated my earlier - posted steps and when I created and opened up the project in Ppro, this time not only did the sequence and files open up but my footage was on the timeline and I was able to play it without having to link to my Avid Media files!
When I tried before, all my footage was originated on BetaSP and DigiBeta at NTSC 720x486. Cannot Ppro bring in NTSC 720x486 or does it have to be NTSC DV 720x480
As I mentioned before I am a newbie to Ppro. When I created a new project and brought my 16:9 footage in, the source monitor is 16:9 but my sequence is in 4:3. In the Program Monitor I can click and hold the frame and move the 16:9 around within the 4:3 frame. Why is it not letting me see the full 16:9 frame.  I created the project in 16:9. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • When I export a AAF file from Protools 9 and Import the file into Logic ProX the drum track is out of sync.  I created the drum loop using NI Maschine.  Has anyone else seem this??

When I export an AAF file/project from Protools 9 using an external drive and import the AAF into Logice Pro X the drum track does not play correctly.  It is out of sync with the rest of the track.  I created the drum loop as a plugin using Native Instruments Maschine. Has anyone else had this problem??  Also how would I go about exporting the midi tracks from the Protools session.  The midi track does not show when the file is imported to Logic Pro X.  The midi data should export with the AAF file correct??

Are you using any plugins in Logic?
In Preferences/Audio  under the General tab, how do you have the plug-in-latency compensation set?

  • I am getting an unsupported format error when trying to import the.aaf file.

When I select File > Import > File, and then select my .aaf file, nothing happens.
When I select File > Import > Pro After Effects and then select my .aaf file, it imports the files, then I get an unsupported format error for .mov files.
    Help!

    Kbuggle,
Which video in the tutorial does this step apply to (i.e. importing the AAF file)? Are you importing from the sample files that accompany the tutorial? Finally, can you post a screen shot of the error message you're getting?
Also, please confirm which version of After Effects you're running, as well as the operating system.
    Thanks!

  • Importing "wrapped" AAF file in Logic

    Hi,
I have a "wrapped" AAF file that I'm attempting to import into Logic, but it's not working. I've successfully opened OMF files and regular "unwrapped" AAF files before, where you have the separate AAF file and the separate folder of audio files, but in this case, I was given an AAF where it's wrapped into one file. Another person who is working on this project says it opens fine in ProTools, however when I import it into Logic, it makes a ton of tracks in the Logic project (far more than I think the AAF actually contains) but no audio is imported. Any ideas? Thanks.
    Logic 9.1.4, OS 10.6.6

thanks for solving the A.O. insts problem. But the other problem was with a Giga convert of a Sample from Bela Media sample CD called" DIVA EXtended" sample Straight tone & delayed. In logic samples folder the giga file is uncompressed from a RAR and it worked for 2 samples smaller in size than this one which is 250 mb in size and is the very one I need. Basically when Logic converts the sample it creates a {bk} folder for the samples to go into. With this one the folder is there while it is converting but when it finishes the folder dissapears and the sample remains unconverted. Can you shed any light on this problem. I have spent hours with BelaMedias support team by internet and they cant find a solution except to say why am I using Logic anyway!!!!! thanks Mat.

  • Creating an AAF file to move a PP CC 2014 project to Avid Media Composer 8.2.0

    Hi Fellow Premiere Pro users.
I have a client who doesn't want to make the switch from Avid to Premiere Pro. He's had little luck transferring the project with AAF files, mostly because batch importing within Avid to relink the media can take hours.
Has anyone had experience moving a project from CC 2014 to Avid Media Composer?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Zhaohan,
I had the same problem, but I think I managed to find a solution, which I wrote up in this thread named "URGENT HELP MEDIA COMPOSER WON'T OPEN!"

  • Problem importing aaf from AVID into Premiere Pro CC

I have a simple AVID project without crazy effects, few dissolves that's it. I am trying to transfer my sequence to PP CC in line with adobe.tv video found here: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/moving-to-adobe-premiere-pro-/importing-an-a vid-projects.
However, PP loads the sequence without any clips in it, only one audio file has survived. No error log, no link media dialogue. I have definitely exported all video tracks and everything is fine when I reimport the aaf file back into AVID.
Is anyone experiencing the same thing?
    Premiere Pro CC 7.0.1, AVID MC 7.0,  MacPro 8-core (2010), OSX 10.8.4

The AAF import is somewhat limited. There are resources linked to from this page that give information about this workflow.

  • Can't import AAF from Vegas to AAE CS5

I'm triying to import this file into CS5 but it's not working. I get the error "After Effects error: Can't import file "1.aaf": unsupported filetype or extension" (0::1). It worked on CS4 but now it doesn't because I am on Windows 7 64bit now.

    > is there a particular reason for that removal? other than a possible feud between Adobe and other companies?
The AAF importer was developed by a company other than Adobe. We didn't find that enough people were using this in After Effects to warrant the continued licensing and development work (which would have been significant during the port to a 64-bit application).
If this is an important feature for you, we encourage you to submit a feature request.
Premiere Pro still has AAF import functionality. People often use Premiere Pro as an intermediary when importing files from various sources into After Effects.

  • Link Multiple AAF files (used to work in cs6)

    Hi,
On importing multiple AAF files it used to be possible to link all aaf files at once...
Now the import function only links "one original files folder" a time.
This means I have to locate every AAF (with different original files folder) manually
All files to be re linked are in the same folder...
    Am I overlooking something.
I would like to downgrade to cc 6.? but i can't find a download link?
    Thank you
    Regards
    Hans

I'm not sure I understand.  Did you move the files from their original locations into a single folder?  Are you trying to relink files that have already been imported into a project?  Or are you trying to import files for the first time?
Here's the download link for CS6: Download CS6 products

  • How to Import XML file into SAP B1

    Dear All,
    I have a scenario like,
I am receiving a XML file from a 3rd party application for the daily Creation,Update of Item Master,BP Master, Marketing Documents. I want to import this file into SAP B1 through its approp objects. I understand DTW has limitation in its file types (Semicolo,Tab,Comma,ODBC). How do i do this ? Please guide me.
    Thanks,

    Hy folks,
I´m frim Brasil and I've been studying the tool EFM (Eletronic File Manager) to learn more about it!
There I saw that we can extract to XML "any" infomation from the database we want, mainly through the GEP.
However, as I've seen, this Add-On can not import any XML file into SBO, unless for the BFP wich can be imported in conjunction with the BTHF Add-on.
So I ask: how is it possible to import XML data into SBO database? Is it possible to be done through the EFM? or  it´s really necessary to write a code specifically to do that?
Besides, I know that de B1iSN fit to this necessity... but when I tried to use it, by the custom "object" for BP, for example, there are some data wich the mapping conteined in this custom "process" that can not be imported... I tried to understand how to map those other fields not imported by the custom but this has been dificult to me as I am a implementation consultant focused in administrative process not on development...
Could you please help me with this subject!
    Thanks a lot,
    Denis

  • How to include preset in RTF import option while importing RTF files?

    Dear all,
I created a script which will place text from rtf files present in a folder to an active document on different page based on match. I am using a preset name "myRTF" which i will use when i import rtf files without script.
Is there a way to include this preset in script?
I have checked many places....... but did not found.

    var sourceFolder = Folder("/Users/admin4/Desktop/ec_txt");

            case "Switzerland_en":
            myFrame1.parentStory.insertionPoints.item(-1).place(File (sourceFolder + "/" + myFiles[i].name))

            myFrame3.parentStory.insertionPoints.item(-1).place(File (sourceFolder + "/" + myFiles[i].name))
            break;

    Hi Dave, Peter,
thanks for your reply. In that case i will check WordRTFImportPreference but not sure if customize style import can be done for paragraph style sheets.
for example: word has "normal" and "head1" style but i want to map to indesign Body_light and H1 styles respectively.
