Importing Actions, Plugins etc PSCS3 to PSCS5 Question

There's a useful support article (Move actions, presets, and workspaces from Photoshop CS4 to CS5) in the knowledge base, but I'm looking to find how to do this from CS3 to CS5.
Is there any reason not to just copy & paste everything over from the relevant folders (in Apps>PSCS3 and Users>me>AppSupport>Adobe>PSCS3>etc)?
Is there something "special" about PSCS4 stuff, or can I use the File Migration script to import stuff from PSCS3 to PSCS5?
Thanks in advance
Jim

Presets you can pull over wholesale. Definitely not the case with plug-ins. Plug-ins that shipped with CS4/CS3 aren't compatible with CS5. People who do this are asking for trouble (stability issues, duplicate file formats installed, etc).
3rd Party plug-ins are hit or miss, so it's better to go to the 3rd party plug-in sites to see if they have updated plug-ins for CS5 rather than moving any old 3rd party plug-ins directly over.

  • Using  FDM Import Action script to import data from ERPI table "tdataseg_t"

    Hi Experts
I have extracted data from EBS using ERPI and loaded into the intermediate table "tdataseg_t"
I am trying to use Import Action script within FDM to extract data from "tdataseg_t" table (where ERPI extract data is stored) as i could not use the normal import script.
Requirement : I have to restrict the custom 2 dimension based on Account dimension.
    Dim Account
    Account = ???? ( i am struck here)
    If Account = 1000 to 5000 Then
    Custom2 = Right( product , 5)
    End If
but , I could not find the exact syntax to call the Account dimension from the "tdataseg_t" table.
    Please Advise
    Thanks

    Hello,
Importing data via a manual script defeats the purpose of ERPi. As it will not provide you an audit trail, drill-through/drill-back, etc.
Your best bet is to use the default settings by the software. Just because it returns more records than you want is not a bad thing. You can conditionally change/alter the information either in an EventScript inside of FDM or by mapping the un-needed information to IGNORE.
    Thank you,

  • DRM Import, Action Script

    Hi All,
I am new to Hyperion DRM 11.1.2, I am confused about concepts such as metadata and data still not able to understand difference between them. What I understand is all Versions hold is set of independent hierarchies which have nodes and their property values, which is nothing but metadata.
Please help me understand difference between data and metadata?
There are different task groups like Import, Action script and Migration Utility all the these are essentially used for importing metadata and data in the DRM Application.
Migration Utility - Provides the ability to bulk load metadata and security objects in DRM applications. Other operations which can be performed in migration utility are extract and difference.
Import- It provides a way to import data in DRM Applications, but it creates new version after import
Action Script - Used to process a bulk set of changes in an automated fashion.
Can anyone help me understand best case scenario for when to use which utility to import metadata and data?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Aniket

Migration Utility: When you are trying to Export/Import Properties, Validations, Export Definitions, Import Definitions etc to an XML or from another server.
Import: This function Imports a whole new Version once you have the load file in a specific Import format that you define.
Blendor: The Version you imported Can be blended with the Actual current existing version
Action Script: This is used when updating the current Hierarchies. Like Adding nodes, updating Properties etc.

Normally, the section that requires attention will have an exclamation mark or be shaded in red.
I would go into the Update section and run it to see if there are updates available. This would be the most likely culprit.  If that doesn't solve your problem, go into to each section and do what it says to do.

  • Problem importing actions

I am using a mac mini (intel version), and have been trying to import actions - eg the bluetooth actions, and others to create finder thumbnails of JPEGs etc. When i try to import into automator, nothing seems to happen and the actions are never available.
Is there any requirement to have specific versions for intel macs?

    Hi,
It is possible that the actions you are trying to import are not yet built universal, so they will not run on intel machines.  If that is the case, you should ping the developer of the action and tell them to make it universal.
If the actions are universal, then perhaps you could post links to the actions you are trying to import?

  • Default Import Action in the Match records tab in Import Manager

    Hi All,
In one of the requirements, I tried importing the data to MDM system from a source XML. The map was already existing and I used the same to work out the import. The same is working fine in the other environment however Development shows some different behaviour.
I got following Default import actions after selecting the matching fields.
4 of 4 Single None Skip - Changed to Create
0 of 0 Single Exact Skip - Updated (All mapped values)
0 of 0 Multiple Exact Skip [I want to make this field as update(all mapped values). However I am only getting two options to be selectied here "Skip" & "Replace". how can I enable the other two options to be selected in Default import action and save the updated map]
    I am currently on MDM7.1 SP05.
I tried verifying the field and value mapping, configuration options and it is same as in the othe systems in the environment.
Can someone help me resolve this asap?
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Kanstantsin, Adrivit
you are right. My Dev and Preprod are in Sp5 and Prod is in SP3 at the moment.
However there's no need for me now to use replace since the intended functionality is met with the earlier two option.
    Hi Adrivit,
Well I have the complete data being refreshed in everyday import so it is showing for me the multiple records with exact matching.
In any case, thans for your opinions/suggestions.
I am closign the thread now.

  • Having problems finding and importing actions I recorded in CS5 :(

Hi. I've recently upgraded from CS5 to CC but I'm now having problems finding and importing actions that I previously had recorded in CS5. Where do I need to look to locate these actions, as they are still in CS5 when I open it.

You export them using the flyout menu in the top right corner of the actions palette. Conversely, you load them the same way in the new version.

  • Import action Update vs Replace in workflow

Hi! Is it true that we should be using import action Update (all mapped fields) when processing data updates via import manager?
I found that if I set the impact action to Replace and when I run my workflow which does a check on old and new value (for price), the validation will fail. This is because the old and new value will be the same. However, if I use Update action, then the system will retain the old value. I find it strange that on checking out that the system is not retaining the old value of the data (regardless of whether I am using Replace or Update action).
    Can someone please clarify?
    Thanks!
    SF

    Hi SF,
Replace Import action will Replace the old value with the new Value so their is no information of the Old value as the old value is now replaced with the new value.
In case of Update All mapped fields the system will Update the old values with the new values as per the new source file and so not all the records field values will change .Only the incoming records which have updated values in the source file will update all the mapped fields with new values.
In any of the case only the lates value will be saved under that particular field  for the records so  tracing the old and new values is not possible.
Even the workflow is always triggered after the record is already updated/Replaced in MDM and after the record is created they get checked out.
Note: In case you are using MDM 5.5 , Excel source file cannot be used with the Replace Import Action.
    Hope it helps

  • Problem importing actions from CS3 to CS6

Hi, I have just installed CS6 and need some actions that I made in CS3 and earlier.
Info that I read on support sited said that I should be able to import them.
I have tried the edit import actions menu.
I have tried dragging the old action set to the new version.
    All to no avail.
Tried the online live help and got no where.
What I would like to try next is to instal CS4 and see if I can import the action set from CS3 and then onwards from CS4 to CS6
However the support person could not give me a link to download CS4......
Any help greatly appreciated as I really need my old actions and CS6 is a useless to me without them!

You need to load them into Photoshop to use them. Their save files can be any where on your system. Once loaded they are copied into your user id Photoshop  preferences.  Photoshop load no action set on its one. The default set is in Adobe default set of preferences. This is the only set in the Photoshop default Actions Palette.  The action set listed in the action palette's fly-out menu are the one in Adobe Presets Actions and perhaps ones you copied into there or save into a folder Adobe set up for you user id for the current release of Photoshop your using.  My advice is do not save any of your actions sets into any Adobe folder.  Instead save them into a folder like "My Photoshop Actions" load them from there too or drag an drop them onto Photoshop.  Once loaded as  I wrote above they get copied into your user id Photoshop preferences. And will be in the Actions Palette when you shutdown Photoshop and re open Photoshop.
Photoshop does not import actions you must load them one way or an other.

  • ACTIONS PLUGIN ????

    Hello,
One of the users at work sent a ticket in to our help desk about Adobe Indesign not starting and says it requires Actions plugin. I have no idea what this is or where to download from. Need help with this one. Attached pic of error. Thanks.

We can see if it can start with another user account. I'll let you know as soon as we do it, but if it starts or does not start with a different user, what is the fix for the current user having the issue? Thanks for your reply. We really appreciate your help.

  • Export/Import Photoshop preferences, plugins, etc.?

I need to wipe my computer clean and reinstall windows.
re-installing Photoshop is not a big deal, but I have several preferences, plugins, saved layer styles, actions, etc. That I do not want to loose and will not be retained.
Is there a way I can back all this up, and so when i reinstall photoshop its the same as it is now?
I also will want to do this with Dreamweaver, After Effects, and Illustrator.
    Thanks!

    1: Give Them A Home:
First, decide where you’ll be backing up your settings. Be it a folder on your hard drive, a CD/DVD or an offsite storage service. Wherever it is find a consistent place that will be separate up from your main computer should you have a total crash.
    2: Archive your actions:
Photoshop is not a place to store actions. When you download a new action don’t just load it in the actions palette and expect it to stay there. PS will retain the actions so long as the preference to keep it loaded remains. Also deleting an action in PS does not actually delete the file, it just removes it from the action palette. As long as you have your action files safely stored you’re good. But, if you load an action, and then delete the file expecting PS to retain it forever, your doom is sealed.
I like to make a “favorite actions” set that I store with my other actions. This way all my commonly used actions are in one set that I can load fast. I keep it in PS all the time, but it’s backed up should I have a crash. My other actions are nearby as well, but I load them only occasionally since all my favorites are in one set. You can do this by making a new action set (folder) within PS, then drag your favorite actions into it from other sets, then save your favorites set in a safe place.
2: Saving Brushes & More With Preset Manger.
In PS go to Edit/Preset Manager. A window will pop up that contains a dropdown to select your brushes, swatches, gradients, styles, contours, patterns, custom shapes or tools. If you have any custom settings for any of these it’s as simple as going to the manger, selecting what you want to manage and saving the set to your backup location.
    http://www.prophotoshow.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/file-preset-manager.jpg
    3: Backing Up Keyboard Shortcuts:
Keyboard shortcuts can save a ton of time, and once you set up custom ones you’ll want them to be there.  I for example set CMD+F to flatten since I use it so often. If I get on a machine that does not have the setting, I quickly miss it. All you need do is go to up to the menu and choose Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts. Slick the save icon, and save the current shortcuts in a file. Now you can easily load it on any machine by simply loading the saved file.
    Power User Tricks:
There’s more you can backup than what’s on the surface of PS. Workspaces  for example control the location of your palette’s and menus. Most know that you can save workspace by simply going to Window/Worskpaces. Thing is, there’s not really a built in method of exporting those workspaces for backup. To do this we have to talk about the Power User method.
Outside of Photoshop, go to your application (programs) folder and find Photoshop. We’re using CS3 for this, but it should be similar with other versions. Inside the PS folder look for the Presets folder, and inside that you’ll find stuff like Workspaces, and all kinds of other settings. You can just copy and paste things from here, to your backup and be good to go.
    Photoshop CS4 Notes: (UPDATE)
Most locations are the same in CS4. At the moment it looks like the only differnce if the Workspaces location. Rather than being inside the folder that contains Photoshop it’s found in these locations. Loaction information for other settings in CS4 can be found here.

  • Import Remote Plugin / Module into AIR application

    Hello!
I want to run remote code in my AIR application within the same security sandbox. I found this article http://blogs.adobe.com/emalasky/2008/04/remote_plugins.html which describes quite shallow how to do it:
So to pull this content in safely, you need to prove that you can trust it. Given the ease of remote attacks (DNS hacks; man-in-the-middle attacks; owning up the “trusted” server; etc), imported modules must be signed, and the signature must be verified before loading the content.
First, sign your modules. I’m pretty sure you can just use adt for this, then rip the signatures.xml out of META-INF. Then post the modules and signatures.xml
When you download the modules, save them and signatures.xml somewhere in app-storage:/
Use the XMLSignatureValidator class to validate that you downloaded modules that really were signed by you (or some known entity).
Import the modules into your application sandbox. For SWF, use Loader.loadBytes(), pass a LoaderContext with allowLoadBytesCodeExecution=true. I doubt anyone will do *that* by accident.
    My questions:
1.: is this still the way to go in AIR 2.7?
2.: The explanation is very shallow.. could someone explian a bit more indepth how to do this and what steps are required? Or maybe someone knows a good tutorial?
    Thanks!

    Hello!
Thank you for that great article!
Based on this and your code example I added the signature checking to my application in the following way. Could you please tell me whether this is correct and secure?
    1.
I load the signatures.xml from the remote update package aswell as the signatures.xml from "app:/META-INF/signatures.xml" (signature file from locally installed air file).
Then i continue to process the file only if (remoteXmlSig..signatureNS::X509Certificate == localXmlSig..signatureNS::X509Certificate) since I only want to allow plugins that were signed with the same certificate as the installed air application.
    2. I run your validation code but with
    verifier.useSystemTrustStore = false;
    3.
in the "verifyManifest" function I add every file that was successfully validated into an array
    4.
in the end I use only the files within this array to update my application.
    Is that correct?
    Thank you!
