Importing Appleworks DB documents into Bento

I have tried to import my Appleworks data-base documents into Bento with no luck. I have saved the Appleworks DB documents as .tsv files, (as per instructions obtained from Google) but when I try load those DB files into Bento,  Bento has no save or save-as like Appleworks did, so how do I know if the file is saved correctly.  This is weird. I want to import all my Appleworks DBs into Bento, before I download Lion (OS 10.7).
Any help is appreaciated.
Thanks,
Greg

The process is described here: http://www.filemaker.com/products/bento/appleworks.html
How to bring your AppleWorks information into Bento:
First, you will want to save your AppleWorks file as a .tsv file for use in Bento. Learn how
Next, launch Bento and follow the steps below:
Choose File > Import > File.
Click Choose, then select your AppleWorks .tsv file.
Once imported the database is now a Bento file, just like one created in Bento, and can be treated as such.

  • How can I [cmd]+A including text boxes? Or how to import one Pages document into another Pages document?

    Hi there,
I am working on my thesis with several Pages documents (for the first time). And I really have searched all over the Internet to find an answer to exactly my question but I cannot find it.
First my question was: How can I import one Pages document into another one? I found the answer on that (I think) and there is nothing else than just make a new section and copy/paste it in.
But then another issue pops up: I cannot [cmd]+A my whole document including the texboxes to paste it in the other Pages document. Then the document will be paste without the textboxes (and I have quite a lot of them in that document) and the text will not be at the right place.
So please explain to me: How I can combine two Pages documents and keep them exactly the way they are? Is that even possible?
I thank you so much in advance!

    Hi Fruhulda,
I have already tried to mark the textboxes in line but that did not work, and besides then the text and the boxes won't be at the rigt places either. Thank you for your reply .

  • Importing a PSD document into flash?? Help

    Hello,
I am trying to import my PSD document into flash, I designed my website in photosphop but for some reason flash
seems to handle everything a little weird. Can Flash handle the different you place on things from photoshop?
    t=Thanks

Usually it is easier to separate your psd and save each element for web then import to those to Flash and rebuild.
But it is indeed handy to import your psd directly. If you do so:
Play with your import settings when importing your psd to Flash. You may want some items to remain vector shapes, you may or may not want to keep text editable, some you may want to import as bitmaps, most you will probably want to convert to movie clips, etc.
    A few bullet points:
    • Flash will turn your layer styles to separate bitmaps and will usually distort them funny.
    • Make sure your psd color profile is sRGB before importing to Flash.
    • Some fonts will not import to Flash from a psd nicely, if you dont need to edit the text you should convert the type to shape (make a copy of the layer first, though, you may have to go back and edit - typos happen)
    • Flash will turn bitmaps as pngs. These may increase file size, so you may still have to go back to PS and export some as jpg (if you do though, once you import those to flash, right click in your library and click Properties and uncheck "Use Imported JPG Quality" and set the percentage yourself).
The list can go on, but I'm tired and can't think of all the tips and tricks.
One thing is for sure: Be sure to go over all the importing options in Flash and all the layers carefully before hitting OK.

  • Importing one Pdf document into another.

I am trying to import one Pdf-document into another using a Reference XObject. I am looking at thePDF- specification, and I thought I was doing things the right way, but its not working. The PDF-specification doesen't have an example of how to do this, only an explanation.
Below is the PDF-file I am testing with (if anyone can be bothered looking at it   ). The file embeds another pdf-file, and is supposed to show a part of the embedded file at a certain position.
Again, if anyone can be bothered looking at my PDF and see if they can see what I am doing wrong here I would appreciate it.
(There is nothing wrong with the embedded file itself...)

PDF is a binary format. The most important piece in a PDF file is the cross
reference table. It contains byte offsets to the different objects in a
file. If you insert just one space (which in a true ASCII file will not
change much), you are making all byte offsets after the insertion point
invalid. They now all point to something different than the start of an
    object.
Because there is no standard about how line endings are encoded in text
files, every time may add (or subtract) a byte - depending on what computer
system and what editor you use to convert your PDF to fake-ASCII, and then
again what I use to try to convert it back to PDF. If you are using a
Windows system and I'm using a Mac, the cross reference table gets
corrupted. And that's even before the web server does it's magic and
    potentially adds data.
If you want somebody to look at your file.
Have you looked at the post I linked to? The settings in Acrobat are
important. You need to enable Reference XObjects, AND you have to declare
the directory where your target file is stored as trusted.
From what I can see in your PDF code, you are doing a whole bunch of cm
operations. You may want to consolidate all those into one operation. I
have not done a detailed analysis, but you could potentially shift your
data off the page. Keep it simple and see if that makes a difference.

  • How do I import a pdf document into Pages?

How do I import or convert a PDF document into an iMac Pages document?

Drag and drop.....Open the Pages document, navigate to the .pdf in Finder, grab the .pdf and drop it into the Pages doc. Couldn't be easier. Very simple in a single page document in a multi page .pdf it might be easier to use Automator to grab the individual pages.
If you want to make the .pdf editable then you will need to get a license of Adobe Acrobat.

  • Importing Multiple Word Documents into RH

I know that RH allows users to import word documents, however
I was wondering if there was a way to import multiple word
documents (ala batch style import) instead of importing each
    document one at a time.

Colum has good advice. Also, since you're new to this, there
are a few curiosities that occur that can be puzzling to newcomers.
If you have graphics in your Word docs (screenshots, etc.) a new
folder will automatically be created. So if the name of your Word
doc is MYDOC.DOC, graphics will be placed in a new folder called
    MYDOC_Files.
Another "hitchhiker" to the process is the creation of a CSS
file automatically created for each Word doc. After the import you
have the choice to reassign any style sheet you like, regardless of
    the CSS originally linked.
Another tip if you're new to importing, go to Peter Grainge's
    excellent site.

  • Can I import a Word document into Creative Suites?

I have a Word document I would like to work on in Creative Suites for all the added capabilities.  The only way I found was thru Cut and Paste....is there a quicker way to import the whole document.

You can use File --> Place in InDesign to import Word and Excel files and retain quite a lot of the formatting. Otherwise, no, they are simply two different worlds and copy&paste is as good as it gets for most programs.

  • Import a pages document into a pages document

In a report I'm writing in Pages, I want to append several other Pages documents into an appendix at the end.  I can't figure how to insert such entire documents, with formatting, headers, footers, etc. intact.

Menu > View > Page Thumbnails
    Also
Toolbar > View > Page Thumbnails
You can Copy and Paste these within the document or into the Thumbnails of other documents. So just open the two documents and copy over the Thumbnails.
One caveat, both documents must have the same page dimensions and orientation.

  • Import Adress Book mobiles into Bento - Problem

Hi I was trying to organize myself by importing some stuff to Bento. The problem I had was that some contacts have several phone numers (work home mobile) and Bento imported work and home. So i tried to create Mobile Phone as a field but the only thing Bento does is to create an empty column, it does not import anything from the mobiles that I have in my adress Book.
Thank you very much for your help and sorry for my english

    David,
This was posted in MacFixIt and it works perfectly:
    Entourage addresses into Address Book:
    1. Create a new desktop folder. Name it anything you want, but v-card would be appropriate, because that's what you will be creating.
    2. Open Entourage's Addresses and select the ones that you want to bring over.
    3. Drag these addresses into the v-card folder.
    4. Drag the v-card folder into the Name field of Apple's Address Book. You can safely trash the folder after you are finished.
    Apple addresses to Entourage:
    1. In Apple's Address Book, select the addresses that you want to export to Entourage.
    2. Open Entourage Address Book and drag those addresses into Entourage Address Book. If you are exporting multiple addresses, hold Option while you do this, otherwise only the topmost address will be exported and you'll have to do it one-by-one.
These methods are not perfect. You may find some minor errors, such as a Home email coming across as Work, but otherwise you'll get everything.

  • Need help importing large word document into CS2

I am using ID CS2. I am putting together a document that has 120 pages that's 11.625 wide by 21.25 tall (newspaper) and will be in 8 columns. I want to place a text document using the autoflow method. My problem is, there are so many words, characters, etc. that my ID freezes up. I have changed the original document to a Word Doc, Excel file and a text document. Changing the type document seemed to make a difference. What is the best way to place the text and format it?

Technically, you don't need to draw the text box first. If you already have your margins and columns correct (which I assume you have set up on the master so it automatically applies to all pages), ID will create the textbox when you autoflow (shift click or alt click with a loaded curser). Just click with your loaded curser in the top left of the first column.  Another way to do this is to create an 8 column text box on your master and click over it on the actual page.  The advantage to this is that you don't have 8 text boxes across your page, but one single text box divided into eight columns.  There are pros and cons to both work flows, though it appears that the new CS5 has more pros to the single text box with columns than the eight text boxes.
You should only remove the styles and formatting if you want all the formatting stripped from the file as you place it. Otherwise, you can actually map the styles in the placed document to the ones in the ID file from that dialog box, and that might save you a lot of formatting time with such a large document--assuming that the file you are placing is correctly styled and formatted (which is not always the case).
Since I'm now not sure what you meant by ID "freezing" in your original post--if ID actually crashes (closes itself with or without an error message) when you try this import, you might try opening the final text doc and breaking it up into smaller segments to place. However, there should be no problem placing a text document of that length into ID. If ID is just pausing for a while, do give it time to actually process all those pages.

  • Importing InDesign CS  document into GoLive CS

Hello, I would appreciate some assistance since I am new to this!
I have created an image in Photoshop CS3.
I imported it into InDesignCS to polish it up a bit. Looks lovely!
I then planned to post it on the internet using GoLive CS.
I can not seem to get GoLiveCS to open anything in InDesign CS.
I thought they would be compatible. EK! Maybe they aren't??? Any advice?
Thanks a bunch! I fear I have more work ahead of me!

The Package for Golive feature is more complex as far as I remember.
If your final format is going to be a jpg anyway, your best bet is to
open the PDF in PS and convert it or even just to take a screen snapshot
of the page in ID and post that.

  • Can't import Appleworks files into iWork

I recently purchased iWork 05 (and am stuck with it, since I cannot upgrade to 06) and cannot import Appleworks 6 drawing documents into either Pages or Keynote. Are the Appleworks drawing and paint functions now orphaned?

Only AppleWorks 6 word processing documents can be opened by Pages (& I assume, by Keynote). You can do one of two things to get the content of your AppleWorks draw documents into Pages.
    1. Open the draw document in AppleWorks & copy & paste into Pages.
2 Copy the draw elements & paste them as floating objects in an AppleWorks 6 word processing document. Inline object don't translate in my experience. And, text boxes will become uneditable objects.
