Importing application while people are working on HTMLDB

I do my development on a test box, and then import the application to my production box. I do this after hours, when no one is on the database. Just wondering if it is possible to do the import live (while users are actively working on the DB). I have not tried this (for obvious reasons). Just wanted to know.

Hi,
Although Essbase has a decent locking mechanism which stops users inputting data or running calculation during a database restructure and vice versa, I don't think it is a good practice to do a database refresh while users are logged in to the application. That's actually one of the reasons why you have an option to put the application into maintenance mode. Version 9 family is known to be more vulnerable, it is not very likely that you'd cause database to crash, but still the least severe that can happen would be the loss of input data that's not yet saved in Essbase.

It is possible to run a init for COPA datasource, but you might impact the performance on the R/3 side which of-course depends on volumes

Import application seems not to work

I have a workspace on the apex.oracle.com site, but after importing an application and installing it over an existing application ID in my workspace, I get the following message: installing application [] [] [] [] [] ... and then... Application not available for edit. Afterwards it shows that my application has been updated recently. Is there a problem? If so, what do I have to do>
The apex.oracle.com site is APEX 3.1 and I use APEX 3.0 at my remote site.

It appears that you installed this application with a build status of "Run Only". Try again and specify "Run and Build".

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

IMac going to sleep while I'm working on it

I will be working on my Imac, final Cut or Imovie or just simply surfing the internet and the screen will go blank. I move the mouse or a key and the computer comes back the way it was why is it going to sleep on its own?

You are describing the screen going dark while you are working. And you say that moving the mouse brings it back. That sounds like display sleep. Just moving the mouse wouldn't wake up the computer if it had entered sleep. You would need to click it or press a key.

Which one is set to 15 min? There are two "sleep" functions, computer sleep and display sleep. Fifteen minutes is much too short for computer sleep and much too long for display sleep.

Ok I know people are having this problem. I updated to the latest version of iPhoto and now I get the following: "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable". Can someone please point me to a fix?

This is super frustrating.
I tried to uninstall iPhoto and all related files and then reinstall but I keep getting the same result.
I have spent hours trying to fix this and nothing seems to work. I am pretty good with computers so I think this requires some expert help. I notice many people are stuck with this problem. Do I have to go and buy the disk from the store? How ironic that I was updating the software online so I could use photostream. Now the solution may be I need to go back to the "old school" way of doing things. Lucky I don't have a mac airbook. Lol.

Re-installing the app is unlikely to help because the problem is with the Library and not the application.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Problem importing application to different work space in different schema

I have developed a application in scheme 'A' in the workspace 'B'. When I tried to export the same application in Scheme 'X' and work space 'Y' it is giving the following error while running the imported application in schema 'X' and workspace 'Y'. Please let me know, how I can resolve this problem.
ORA-0000: normal, successful completion
Error Unable to fetch authentication_scheme in application 144.

Preferences for Open Application With is not working (although preferences are saved/appearing. Thoughts?

Although the preferences for using certain applications to open downloaded files is set and saved (it still appears when accessed), the preferences are either not utilized automatically (for most files) or remembered at all for others (docx files). So, each time I try to download/open a docx file, I have to "browse" and tell firefox to use microsoft word, even though the preference is already set. I see that some people are having trouble with preferences being deleted, but that is not that case here. Thanks!

Error while exporting - importing application

Hi All
I was trying to export my apex.oracle.com app and was importing it to my local db installation environment. Encountered with an error:
*1 error has occurred*
*NOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your application version.)*I found that in my local environment, some features were missing like page of Type "Master-Detail" was not there while creating a page in my local instance. (My app is not using any mater-detail page, but it may be using some features which are missing in my local version). Want to know about the following:
1. The APEX 3.2 (apex.oracle.com) DB version so that I can upgrade my DB instance version.
2. Is the error telling about the incompatible application version or the DB version? How can it be addressed?

The compatibility issue you encountered is about the APEX version and NOT the database version. The same APEX version can be installed on different database versions, starting with 9.2.0.3 or later.
As each new APEX version adds new features, which manifest in the metadata table structure (among others), you can’t install an application from an advanced APEX version on an earlier APEX version.
The version on apex.oracle.com is 3.2, while the default APEX installation on a new 11g database is 3.0.1. As such, if no specific upgrade were done to your local APEX instance, you won’t be able to import applications from apex.oracle.com.
As was suggested, the only feasible solution is to upgrade the local APEX instance to the version on apex.oracle.com.

Iphoto won't import photos and application won't stop working

Recently, when I have tried to import photos from my card reader the iphoto application appears to be working to locate the pictures but it freezes. It won't respond to the "Quit" function, window won't close, can't eject my device. The only way to stop the application is to shut down the computer. I have over a 1000 pictures in iphoto and can open and manuever in iphoto as long as I don't try to import. I am running the iPhoto 9.2.1, with the iphoto Library upgrader being 8.1 Any ideas to correct this problem?

and secondly and I know this from experience, ( but on 32 bit ) is it loaded already as in sat in task manager, but not actually get at able, killing the processes cures it or a reboot of course

You mentioned that 'Apple put the AirPrint spec out there for all printer makers'. I've been looking around but I haven't found any spec. Where did you find it?
Do printer makers have to buy a license in order to be able to advertise that they've implemented the AirPrint protocol? Is there maybe an Apple review process in place?
