Importing Audio & Burn CD

I would like to down load audio from a digital voice recorder (Olympus VN-!000) to Mac G5 computer that has iLife 06 and burn it to a CD. I don’t have a clue were to start. What is the easiest program to use and how? Pleas direct me to a support site.

Hi rob,
sure that can be done:
a) look at the back of your VCR... any "audio-out" plug? or get a scart adapter with three colorful chinches/female...
b) get another adapter, stereo mini>>chinches/male, put in iMac audio-in
c) plug all together...
d) launch Garageband
e) hit play on VCR
f) hit "record" in Garageband....
g) edit track
h) export "to iTunes"
i) burn audioCD with iTunes....
one more thing:
iMovie is an edit app meant to work with firewire connected miniDV camcorders

  • Computer freezes when importing or burning audio CD

I'm ready to take a hammer to my computer! EVERY time I attempt to import or burn a CD my computer freezes at some point. It's very erratic, may import none, one or some songs, very, very rarely a whole cd. Don't get any error messages and I am unable to CTRLALTDELETE as whole system is locked.
As I've bought a large amount of music from iTunes I don't wish to lose it or be limited to just listening on my iPod.
As I've wrestled with this problem for some time can anyone at all help?
Have run diagnostic test and everything appears okay.
    Brenda

Have downloaded latest iTunes - still problem persists. Attempted to burn disc - only got as far as "checking playlist" when system froze. CTRLALTDELETE always fails to respond when this happens - keyboard doesn't respond either.
Have run another CD diagnostics check immediately afterwards, and checked Event Viewer - perhaps this can help? Don't know why I get error message relating to Windows XP Professional as I don't have this system.

  • Follow up question. importing audio

    Hello,
thanks to all that responded to my question about importing audio from itunes to FCP5. I finally got it onto my timeline, but before I did that I burned it to a cd, and used that to import it to FCP. Probably more steps than necessary, but I finally was able to get into the timeline that way. THE PROBLEM HOWEVER, is that the audio sounds scratchy, or slightly staticy (wierd word) I burned it in 48kHz and 16 bit AIFF,as you all recommended, but it still sounds crappy. Anymore suggestions?? Could disc space be the problem?
I have a huge project going and only about 10 gigs of space
    THANKS,
    Jen

When you buy a song, or a CD, you bought the right to listen to that song to your hearts content. Make as many copies as you want, but only for YOU. Your song. Play it at a party..fine.
But put marry that song with video, and you have entered new territory. To do that you need to buy additional rights. Just like you'd need to buy rights if you play music at a wedding, or play music for people to listen to when they are on HOLD at your business.
Adding it to family video is "technically" illegal. Will the FBI hunt you down...well, after the government went after a lady for owing $1.16 in taxes by siezing her house, I wouldn't be surprised.

  • I have updated to the latest itunes, and it now won't allow me to import or burn CD's or DVD's. it says it is to do with the registry settings, and that recently added cd burning software may have something to do with it.

please help!! i've recently updated to the latest itunes version. after much hassle in doing so, it now tells me that the registry settings for importing or burning CD's/DVD's doesn't work and that i should reinstall itunes. i,ve done that from the website and from a saved position, but it doesn't work. i don't want to have to delete my library to have to start again !!!! there must be another way. it also said that it might be to do with other CD/DVD burning software, but i haven't put any on my computer that itunes didn't seem to lke before

I have the exact same issue. I havent found our what is causing it either. Multaple re-install attempts with no success. I have to use Windows Media Center to burn audio discs.  Any other advice?

  • Can't import audio CD into iTunes with Vista

I can't import audio CDs into iTunes with my new Dell 531 Vista computer. The songs seem to import, but only small (~50K) files are created, which don't play. JohnAndKel,
That's odd because the CD reading test that the diagnostics runs didn't report an error. What happens if you select a song from the CD in iTunes and play directly from CD?
(Just a note, the filter trick doesn't do anything for CD import, just CD burn. iTunes doesn't use the Gear drivers for reading the CD.)

  • The registry settings used by theiTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing

I recently installed a programme to convert audio from a cassette player to digital and I found that my CD/DVD drive was missing. I deleted the offending programme and followed a "fix" by deleting the upper and lower filters as specified in the fix. My CD/DVD drive reappeared but now when I open iTunes I get the message “the registry settings used by theiTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs are missing” even though I am able to import tracks from a CD to iTunes. I haven't tried burning a CD yet but then I hardly ever do. I don't appear to have the problem but the message insists that I do!
I have removed iTunes and all associated files and folders from my computer and reinstalled iTunes three times but the message still appears every time I open iTunes. I use Vista. Can you help?
    Many thanks.

  • Problems importing audio

I have tried to import audio several different ways and each time I get an error message. All files are AAC, according to iTunes. Each time I try to drag songs in, be it from the desktop, from iTunes or from my finder I get the error. Please help.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
AAC files bough from iTune Music Store cannot be imported into FCE.
You can try to burn them on an audio CD (converted to aiff) and import those fresly converted files.
If your file was encoded to ACC in iTune from a CD, export them in AIFF and use this file in FCE, or use the original CD.

  • Importing audio tape

What is the best way in import, then burn to cd, old family audio tapes?
    GH

I am not familiar with your model computer but I assume it has audio input capability.
    You'll need a tape player.
You need a cable to go from the player to the computer. If you are using a home hi-fi deck it will probably need a converter to go from RCA type jacks to stereo miniplug.
You'll need recording software for your computer. Audacity is free. I don't know if there is a Leopard/Intel version. Amadeus II is a very good shareware package.
Audio will likely be recorded as AIFF which is the best quality it will ever be, and suitable for burning to CD. An option will be to do audio cleaning on the files to get rid of hiss, etc. There are various packages out there for automated sound filtering but I have never been impressed by any of the affordable ones and have done most of it by hand. This takes a long time but I get what I want in the end.
You will also want to break your 45 minutes per side recording up into individual tracks.
Put the files into itunes and burn (I don't even use itunes but use LiquidCD freeware burner).
The above is the simplified version, but a start.

  • Importing audio books

As I import audio books into iTunes the order of the tracks is inverted, which obviously makes a book "impossible" to listen to.
Additionally, if the CD contains more than 9 tracks, the tracks are listed eg T12,T11, T10, T1, T2, T3....etc.
    1) How can I avoid these two problems?
    2) How do I get the Tracks into the AudioBooks playlist? Is that only possible with content purchased over the net?

but it seems like when I search on a topic I get
    more PC junk that Mac.
Click on 'more options' at the right side of this
page (just below 'Search Discussions') and restrict
your searches to the 'iTunes for Mac' category.
I was just joking around and knew that an advanced search would eliminate PC comments but being the APPLE web site I would think that APPLE comments would be teh default. Its a streach but it is almost like being Political Correct.

  • ITunes won't import or burn

Hello! I first noticed a problem soon after I downloaded the new iTunes version. I attempted to burn a playlist to several different kinds of of CD-Rs and the same thing happened each time. iTunes would start the burn as per usual, but then it would burn the CD fairly quickly and when I attempted to play the songs they would just go down the line and play no music. The tracks were there, but they wouldn't play.
Then I tried to import a CD and it would import very quickly and when it was done and I tried to play the newly added songs, it would once again just go through the song list without playing any music.
I thought it might be my drive but I successfully burned a CD from a playlist in Windows Media Player. I also imported a CD there, too.
Any idea what might be the problem?

I can get down as far as step 11 but it shows nothing about upper filters and when I type on "If the Upper Filters entry is missing follow these instructions" nothing happens
Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.

I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using  Homegroup.  I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.
