Importing audio discs problem

This has come up before on this forum. I'm still having the problem of the audio disc disappearing when I choose to import it into iTunes. When is Apple going to release an update to fix this bug? I'm tired of having to restart my Mac Mini every time I want to import. I know there are others having the same problem.

Why are you rebooting instead of just using Disk Utility to remount the disc?

  • Premiere 6.5 mpg-import audio-sync problem

I use a Sony Cybershot digital still camera (DSC-P41/P43) for my films (it's all I have currently). Before I bought a 2 GB memory stick, according to the manual it recorded in mpeg-1 in "standard" resolution only (imports as ".mpg"). With the 2 GB stick, however, it now films mpeg-1 in "FINE" resolution also.
I was using WMovieMaker just fine for "standard", but after beginning to use "fine," WMM began to crash with only 1-2 minutes in the timeline, and took forever to load projects and mpg files.
So I permanently switched to using Premiere 6.5, since, although it seemed to be too heavy of an editor for my PC (with Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2 and an AMD-k7 processor, 698MHz, 640 MB RAM), I discovered it actually handles the files without crashing.
HOWEVER, after rendering to avi, the AUDIO IS +/- 15 FRAMES AHEAD of the video. I've tried reading through all the forums, adjusting all settings to match, etc., to no avail. Any suggestions?
2--Although I don't do any direct captures in Premiere because my camera's so simple and I just copy its files to a folder in Windows, then import to Premiere, there's a serious problem with my capture settings windows, settings viewer, etc.
Every time I click on the Premiere capture settings box, the program crashes completely, to the point of having to reboot the pc. I just can't understand this ...
Any words of wisdom are most welcome.
Thanks in advance for taking time to read this.
    Don

    Don,
OOS issues are common with MPEG-1 & 2 files in Premiere.
Now, it's usually a constant OOS, and not a "drift," in that once you fix it, it does not change later in the Duration of the file. That is good news.
Please hang with me, as I do not know Pr6.5, so some of this might have to be interpolated.
First thing that I'd do would be to add 02 sec. of Black Video to the Head of the Clip. I'll tell you why in a moment. Now, turn Snap off. Look for something in your Video, that will have a sound to go with it. A CU of a speaker is ideal. A slate/clapper is even better, but you likely do not have that. Once you have found your "sync point," zoom in on the Timeline quite a bit and Alt-click on the Audio Clip and slide it in the direction that you "think" will improve the sync. Test. Slide again. Test. Repeat, until you have it nailed down. Once you have sync, you should be good to go. Note exactly how many frames you nudged the Audio. Repeat with other Clips and start with that amount of nudge.
The reason for the 02 sec. of Black Video at the Head is so that if you have to nudge the Audio to the left, you want a bit of room. Once done, the Black Video can be removed. If you did nudge to the left, you will want to address the Audio portion there. Most likely, you can just trim it.
You can possibly get around the OOS problems, if you convert these files to DV-AVI Type II in a thrid party conversion program.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] I see that Eddie has posted the link to file conversion programs. Many in there are freeware, and most get very high marks. Those links will help you, if you choose the conversion route and that is a better workflow in most instances.

  • Can any one help me with CD/Audio disc playback problem on media center m8200n running Windows Vista

I have HP Media Center m8200n Dest top running WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT edition. It  has MEDIA CENTER and MEDIA PLAYER. I experience problems with the computer being able to play CD music discs.  What happens is that the Disc will play only for 63 seconds exactly and then stop playing the track, the player will then skip tracks, settle on another one, play it for a few moments and then skip to the end and then play nothing. It gives me an error message that it cannot read the disc.  This happens with any and every standard store bought CD new or used. These CDs also do play on my laptop running basically same operating system.  This happens whether I trying to Play a disc or burn the disc to the hard drive.  The drives work great though as they do play DATA discs all the way through. MP3 discs play fine.  It also plays the DVD movies with no problem. Windows media player doesn't make it work, also installed VLC player and REALPLAYER to try some other players and they also don't work for music, only DVDs. They all only produce 63 seconds of music play back  from a disc. I've already tried Changing ENHANCEMENTS, UPDATING DRIVERS, UNINSTALLING THE DISC DRIVE and then re-installing back into WINDOWS but none of that helped. SYSTEM came with the integrated REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO on the mother boad for multi channel playback options and I've downloaded those updated drivers again but that doesn't do anything.  Thinking it might be a hardware drive problem I purchased a new LG BLU-RAY DRIVE/BURNER super multi drive which plays fantastic for any video format from Blu-Ray to regular DVD format with the Power DVD software but the machine is causing even this new drive to have the same problem with the audio and it cuts out playing the audio disc within the same 63 seconds running audio disc. . There seems to be a software glitch and I'm wondering if you can help.  Also the sound card seems to work perfectly fine. I downloaded I-Tunes and copied over audio files to the computer via my flash drive and when I play those files from the hard drive, or even the sample windows media files which reside on the hard drive in MY MUSIC, all files play through perfectly, fully, and with great sound. Audio out jacks in back of computer work fine as also does the front head phone jacks upfront. Something in the software when playing a audio disc/file through the dic drives???? I've got hundreds of CD and it's a bummer not beng able to lay them through the system. Does anyone think moving from VISTA PREMIUM to a upgraded version like ULTIMATE or even going up to Windows 7 might solve problem??? What about the 32 bit verses 64 bit editions??? My system should be able to run in the 64 bit frame work also. THANK YOU in advance!!!

    Hi,
All dimms work individually?  Did you run a bootable memory diagnostic to determine the reliability? Did you run a diagnostic on the hard drive?  I believe that your PC came with PC Doctor and that you can create a bootable diagnostic disk. Did you create that disk?  Be sure to purchase memory dimms from a manufacturer that will stand behind their product with a guarantee such as Crucial, Corsair or Kingston. Buy directly from the manufacturer and they will stand behind the guarantee. Be sure that all of the dimms are identical. Use CPU-Z to determine that the specifications are indeed identical.
You have some options to consider once you can stablize your PC for updating the BIOS.
Locate a hard drive and use the HP external recovery media to build a VISTA system. -- safest method
Use a VISTA repair disk and at the command prompt try executing the HP BIOS update (Admin). -- safe
Try a bootable BIOS update process as suggested at this site. --  less safe but doable

  • Audio sync problem with videos imported from iPod Touch

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation that I used to shoot video at a family birthday party. When I imported the footage into iMovie '11, the audio is not in sync with the video (video is about two seconds behind audio) and there is only the left channel of audio. I verified that the video on the iPod plays just fine--no audio sync problem, both left and right channels work. I just upgraded to iOS 5 on the iPod Touch. The iMac is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
As a workaround, I can import the video into iPhoto instead. When I play the video in iPhoto, there are no audio sync problems and both channels of audio can be heard. I have imported other iPod Touch videos successfully into iMovie '11 in the past few months, but this has been the first time these problems have occurred. Any help would be appreciated.

Premiere cannot handle clips with variable framerate.
Your converted clips need to have constant framerate.
Otherwise use a converter like Handbrake.

  • Import audio from movie problem

Every time I import audio from a movie in Logic X, there is a glitch at the beginning of the audio. I just switched from 9 and never had this problem before. Anyone else experiencing this? I think it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Its quite possible this problem is being caused by one of several audio file related issues in the current OS X 10.9.2  that apparently are fixed in 10.9.3
You can find out for yourself by installing the Public beta seed of 10.9.3 found here....

(Remember to make a full backup of your existing system drive before installing the beta OS X)

  • Problem Importing Audio in Vista

When trying to import audio into Captivate 2.0 in Windows
Vista I get the following error
"Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file"
I check to see if the file might have been curupted, but
plays fine inside of my media player. The thing that gets me is
when I import the audio on my Windows 2K machine, I never get an
error and it the audio is imported with no problem.

Vista is not a supported operating system (OS), so to what
extent that might be the problem is a question-mark to me.
However, not all WAV files are supported in other (supported)
Windows OSs'. Assuming you are importing a WAV file, check to be
sure the WAV file is "PCM" formatted.
NOTE: PCM is one of many formats that fall under the general
"type" of audio file with the extension "WAV", and is the supported
    type for Captivate imports.
Let us know if that helps.

  • ITunes Problem when importing Audio CDs

Since I updated my macbook pro a fortnight ago, I have been having trouble importing audio cds into iTunes.
When I insert an audio cd into my superdrive, iTunes opens as normal. I receive a pop-up message that asks if I want to import the contents of the audio cd. I click "Yes" and the audio cd icon immediately disappears from the iTunes devices list.
I then have to eject the audio cd, re-insert into the superdrive, and I receive the same message in iTunes again. I am able to successfully import the cd the next time.
When initially importing the cd, if I select "No" when asked if I want to import the cd, I can then select all of the tracks in the Audio cd device list and then I can select "create mp3 version".
I tried the same procedure on my wife's macbook pro, and iTunes simply freezes and won't proceed. We both updated our macbook pros about the same time.
If anyone can please offer any insight into this problem, please let me know. I would be most grateful for anyone's help with this issue.
    Respectfully,
    PugetSounder

No insight I'm afraid, but I have exactly the same problem as the first one you describe. I don't think it happens every time, but most times the first insertion of the CD is as you describe - iTunes asks if I want to import, I click "Yes", and the CD disappears from the left hand column in the iTunes display. When I eject and re-insert, it always works. This must be a bug in iTunes. Can anyone explain it? This is on a MacBook using the latest software - but I don't think there has been an update in the last month (maybe I just forgot).

  • Problems importing audio

I have tried to import audio several different ways and each time I get an error message. All files are AAC, according to iTunes. Each time I try to drag songs in, be it from the desktop, from iTunes or from my finder I get the error. Please help.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
AAC files bough from iTune Music Store cannot be imported into FCE.
You can try to burn them on an audio CD (converted to aiff) and import those fresly converted files.
If your file was encoded to ACC in iTune from a CD, export them in AIFF and use this file in FCE, or use the original CD.

  • Follow up question. importing audio

    Hello,
thanks to all that responded to my question about importing audio from itunes to FCP5. I finally got it onto my timeline, but before I did that I burned it to a cd, and used that to import it to FCP. Probably more steps than necessary, but I finally was able to get into the timeline that way. THE PROBLEM HOWEVER, is that the audio sounds scratchy, or slightly staticy (wierd word) I burned it in 48kHz and 16 bit AIFF,as you all recommended, but it still sounds crappy. Anymore suggestions?? Could disc space be the problem?
I have a huge project going and only about 10 gigs of space
    THANKS,
    Jen

When you buy a song, or a CD, you bought the right to listen to that song to your hearts content. Make as many copies as you want, but only for YOU. Your song. Play it at a party..fine.
But put marry that song with video, and you have entered new territory. To do that you need to buy additional rights. Just like you'd need to buy rights if you play music at a wedding, or play music for people to listen to when they are on HOLD at your business.
Adding it to family video is "technically" illegal. Will the FBI hunt you down...well, after the government went after a lady for owing $1.16 in taxes by siezing her house, I wouldn't be surprised.

  • Best way to import multi-disc compilation album?

I have a rather extensive MP3 library (all my CD's are ripped to MP3) that I've maintained since about 1999. I just got my wife an iPod Nano last Christmas, and as such I never really used iTunes before a year ago. The only music in iTunes at the moment is MP3's and purchased music that is on her iPod.
I have all my music on my 1 TB D: drive under D:\Audio Files\Albums or \iTunes Music (purchased stuff) or \Various (music files not part of an album).
So I was trying to import a 2-disc various artist Christmas compilation album to iTunes 9. In Preferences, I have the box checked to keep music organized, and imported CD's are set to save under D:\Audio Files\Albums.
The issue is whether or not to use the Compilation option. If I set the album as a Compilation, iTunes automatically creates a Compilations subfolder in Albums, which I don't want. I want to have a folder with this compilation, and several others with a similar name. These are yearly releases of top songs of certain genre.
Apparently, to get iTunes to save these CD's where I want (I want the songs from both discs to go into the same folder), I have to uncheck Compilation, and also I have to change the Album Artist to <Compilations' series name> just to get it to put it in that folder.
Do I have any other options? It seemed like a major pain to get these 2 discs imported so that all the songs would show up under single album cover.
I suppose this may really be fallout from my manual folder organization in Windows Explorer. I guess if it were ALL in iTunes, I wouldn't need all those subfolders, as it would be organized by artist, album, etc. via each file's info. But then that wouldn't work very well with my iRiver MP3 player.
    Message was edited by: PatrickGSR94

yeah but I use the same folder organization in both Windows and on the iRiver, on which I have the Rockbox OS.
One of these days I hope both of us will get iPhones, at which point I'll probably ditch the iRiver and just use the phone for all my media duties.
Anyway, back to the compilation album issue. All the other CD's I've imported (single disc and/or single artist) have imported beautifully, and perfectly integrated with the files and folders I already had (a CD of the same artist I already had other MP3 albums for created a new folder for the CD under the same artist folder - perfect).
It's just the one album with both multiple discs and multiple artists that seem to be giving me problems. It either wants to put it in D:\Audio Files\Albums\Compilations, which I don't want, or in \Albums\Various Artists, which I don't want, either.

  • Creating a disk image from an audio-disc???

Hello guys, I need to move residence and want to minimize the volume and weight I'll need to carry.
I wanted to create disk images of all my audio discs but apparently that's not possible (at least with disk utility, trying to use the same process used with software/movies discs). Is there any way to achieve this? Or, is there any other good way to store the songs in case I needed them later?
What I'd like to do is have them stored in my external hard drive in an uncompressed, unconverted format ready to burn them back, without any loss, to a cd playable with the basic cd players in case I needed them. Or to re-import them into a iTunes. And stuff like that.

I use Toast Titanium to do this. http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html

  • Mac mini audio output problems

This is similar to a problem that appeared before, but with a different twist.
On 4 July all was well. On 5 July I switched on and there was no "chord" from the Mac. When I collected my mail - no sound from my speakers (which are part of my screen). Logged on to a couple of sites - no sound.
The System Profiler, under the "Audio (Built In)" category, says: "No Built-in Audio." I know that's wrong because it's always worked before and when I plug my headset in it works fine.
When I go to the Sound preferences panel in System Preferences, it finds the headset but if I unplug that it finds nothing.
I tried running the hardware test (by putting in the OS X install disc and holding D during startup.) It couldn't find a problem.
So, as far as I can see, audio output is fine for the USB headset output but not for the others. Is there a simple fix? The nearest Apple store is about 200 miles away and I don't fancy the idea of posting the Mac off.
(And I think it's still under warranty for a couple more weeks.)
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

hello mini users with the "no audio output" problem
it seems that there are faulty output jacks in the macbook and the mac mini
there are two things you can try:
i tried everything and began thinking about what new software i had installed. it was "macam" which enables you to use older webcams on OSX. i needed that to use my webcam on skype.
macam installs a file called "macam.component"
if you have the same, do this - take that file out of:
    (your hard drive)/library/quicktime - macam.component
and just put it on your desktop
restart, then in your sound pref's choose your audio output (if doesn't work restart again)
the first time i took it out, i had my sound back instantly, another time i had to choose audio output in sound prefs. you kind of have to try different things. after you get your sound back, you can put back "macam.component" to use your webcam.
it seems macam causes the problem, the two can not work at the same time.
the second thing: if you dont have "maccam" try plugging and unplugging output jack a few times and restarting until you have sound.
the problem still could be with the OSX 10.4.10 update / quicktime...or maybe even a hardware problem like others with macbooks were saying (with the red light), not sure.
people with macbooks and who have the red light on, say to use a paperclip to turn off the switch inside.
my mini does not have a red light on. i tried using a paperclip but it doesnt work.
hope this helps, beleive me i feel your pain!!!!
what good is a computer without sound?
extremely annoying problem that i hope apple looks into and fixes

  • Flash with CS3 - Mac  - Importing Audio

    Greetings,
Creative Suite 3, OS-X (Possibly Leopard as well, it's
    dual-boot).
We're working on our first few flash animations, nothing
heavy or anything. Every time we try to import audio (MP3 or WAV),
the computer tries for a while (shows the little clock icon and a
status bar) then displays a message that says, "One or more files
were not imported because there were problems reading them."
We did some searching and found some info about what Flash
does and doesn't like with reference to audio here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_16235
    and here:
    http://www.technowledgebase.com/2007/06/20/flash-wont-import-mp3-or-wav-files/
OK, it's a wav file, so we tried saving it as PCM style wav
file. We followed a suggestion for using WavePad (This is a mac,
not Windows) making sure the file was PCM here:
    http://nch.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=4005
Unfortunately, even with it saved as PCM (Though we're not
sure if the sample rate may be part of it), we still get the error
    message.
