Importing Avid cut list

This is a bit unusual...we want to import an Avid cut list into Premiere.
We can't import the whole Avid project as that media is unavailable but wish to apply the cut list to new media in a premiere sequence as markers.
Are there any scripts or third party tools that would make this possible?

Options...
1) As you mentioned, get the Trial of Avid MC6, and either export as QT that you can use, or...
1a) Get Automatic Duck Pro Import (automaticduck.com) that is now FREE (used to be $500) and string out the footage in the Avid (Basic editing is exactly the same as FCP, so nothing new to learn)...and then export an AAF of that footage. Use Pro Import FCP to bring the footage into FCP.
2) calibrated.com. Get the MXF reader plugin. No, it isn't free. Option 1 is free.
3) Have then export the footage for you. But I don't recommend bothering them unless they are being paid to provide this too you. If they are, they need to get you what you can use.

Importing Avid Media into FCP

I am taking media from an Avid Adrenaline system and want to bring it into FCP to cut. However, the disk w/Avid QTs won't appear on my desktop. It plays fine on the Windows-based Avid (XP, I believe), but my Mac won't see it. I've tried downloading Avid codecs and putting them in my Quicktime Library as recommended by the Avid website, but that doesn't seem to work. I've been told I should try exporting out of Avid using Sorenson or H.264 codecs. Anyone with experience on this so I quit wasting time?

Actually, my experience was that it was QT 7.1.6 that broke the version of the Avid codec I had been using before, not a particular FCP update. I have not tried the codec linked to earlier in this thread.
I have noticed a unique color shift in both luma and chroma when importing Avid codec clips. It takes two color correction filters to correct for this, but I have saved this pair as favorites, and can apply them at the end of the edit.
I would much rather import the clips than recapture, as we're talking about days of recapturing, as opposed to a couple hours of importing. If I can get the codec supported, and I know how to correct for the color shift, I have no qualms about using the Avid media. My question has more to do with whether I will be able to see individual clips in the finder to attempt to import, or whether the media files will be in some format QT and FCP will not recognize, and if so, whether there is anything I can do about it. I don't expect any of the Avid logging info to come along, and I know that even if I were to have Avid editor export a batch list, a reconnect would likely be impossible, and I'd be looking at recapture.
If it were a question of simply creating new QT wrappers on the files, we'll be up against another shortcoming of FCP - the Batch Export process does nont allow the creation of reference movies...
Anyone know about what the Avid media folders look like in the finder?

EDL Cut List and Quicktimes

Hi,
Am I missing something regarding importing a Quicktime (from Avid in this case), and an EDL to split it into correctable shots?
I've followed the instructions in the manual, but I can't seem to break down the QT.
In my import of the EDL, I ensure that I'm using the correct format (I've tried the two CMX formats), and I've got the little 'Import EDL as Cut List' checkbox.
I've also pointed to the directory where the QT is, though I can't help wondering how Color knows which QT file it needs, as it only asks me to point to a directory, rather than a specific file, and the EDL won't tell Color where it should be either.
As I type this, I can't help feeling that I'm doing something daft... But I can't for the life of me see what I'm doing wrong.

nae lad, you're just discovering that COLOR is somewhat unintuitive in its file navigation.
The load EDL flow, which offers "Use as cut list" provides a navigation tool that says directory, but it really is looking for a .mov, which you drill down to eventually, select / choose it and away you go.
Something else interesting about it is that it won't apply an offset less than 1 hour and your .mov had better start exactly where the EDL does, because it actually ignores the code and assumes first frame is whatever the EDL says it is... so a capture that you picked up at 59:50:00 will be ten seconds out of sync with the EDL.

Importing Avid MXF Files to short in Premiere CC

Hi there,
We are importing AVID Media Files MXF from MXF Folder into Premiere Pro CC 2014 and the longer clips are to short. All the long clips ends at 4min. 55 sec.
We were exporting the Files from AVID 8.3.0 as AFF, then importing in Premiere CC 2014 and linking the video files to the MXF Folder of AVID.
We tried also to consolidate all the clips from AVID again into a special folder, make a new AFF export and then import and link all again. But it gives us the same result.
Would be great if anybody knows a solution. The problem seems to be the import of the MFX Files into Premiere CC. The Export from Avid seems to be OK.

You can try to redownload and reinstall the FCPX. If not, you can contact after-sales service to get a free way to solve the problem.
You also can ignore the problem and download and insatll a MXF Converter to convert MXF to FCP's antive format ProRes before importing. I have been using Brorsoft MXF Converter for Mac, it work fast and it can keep the original video quality for editing. Besides, the conversion process will help you to save the rendering time. The most important is that it has five types of Apple prores codecs for choosing.

Log and Transfer : any way to import a batch list?

Anyone know if it's possible to import a Batch list of In/Out points (ie a txt file from Excel) to automatically populate the Log and Transfer window? (as can be done in the Log and Capture Window)
It would help reduce the amount of data produced when converting from AVHHD.
There's a great little app called ProxyMill that generates small QT Versions of AVCHD file with Timecode Burned In ... so offline style capture lists are certainly possible, if only I could import the resultant data!

Importing a Batch List
You can import a batch list into Final Cut Pro and use it to capture clips to edit or to create a sequence originally done on another editing system. The frame rate of the batch list is determined by the currently selected sequence preset in the Audio/Video Settings window.
Note: A batch list must be a text file. In some cases, you may need to add the .txt file extension to your filename to ensure that Final Cut Pro can import your file.
To import a batch list
In the Browser, open an existing bin, or create a new bin to store the offline clips and open it.
For more information, see “Organizing Footage in the Browser.”
Choose File > Import > Batch List.
Note: The frame rate of the current sequence preset appears in the Import Batch List command name. For example, if a DV NTSC preset is selected, the command is named Import Batch List at 29.97 fps.
Locate the batch list, select it, then click Choose.
The logged clips appear in the Browser as offline clips that you need to capture.
You can capture the clips all at one time by doing a batch capture. For more information, see “Batch Capturing Clips.”
Note: Make sure you have all the source tapes associated with the batch list before starting the capture process.
If you’re having a problem importing a batch capture list, check the format of the text file. Final Cut Pro does not support importing RTF (Rich Text Format) text files. If you have an RTF file you need to import, open it in a text editing application such as TextEdit and save it as a plain text document first.

Import Avid xml chapter points for DVD Studio Pro

Hello-
We are an Avid based house (don't ask) but I am infiltrating with DVD Studio Pro. I need to find a way to import the exported xml file that Avid makes for chapter points. The lame Sonic/Avid burning software imports it with no problem. I tried but Studio Pro does not see the file (it is grayed out).
Please give me an easy way to have another reason to convince the powers that be to go Mac.

You can import a marker list easily into DVDSP. This is explained on page 385 of the online DVDSP manual (under the Help menu). However, you'll need to strip out all the non-essential info from the Avid xml file to do this. The XML will be complex, and may have the timecodes in raw frame numbers, rather than HH:MM:SS:FF format. I have used a combination of Excel and Word to flip the data into tables and back, and use find and replace to get the data into the magic 2-column format.
There may be another option to export from the Avid that will give you more simplified data, such as an EDL or batch list, though these two options in FCP include everything but the markers.

Error in QP: Bulk Import of Price List

I am trying to import price list records using the concurrent program 'QP: Bulk Import of Price List'. I am facing one issue in this...below is the error detail:

If I am not using the pricing attributes PRICING_ATTRIBUTE_CONTEXT,PRICING_ATTR_CODE, Pricing_attr_value_from,COMPARISON_OPERATOR_CODE, PRICING_ATTR_VALUE_TO I am able to import the line records also.
The script provided by Oracle also uses the same columns in the interface table, kindly help me if any one have any idea regarding this issue.

The error is coming only when I am passing the pricing attribute parameter(PRICING_ATTRIBUTE_CONTEXT, PRICING_ATTR_CODE, PRICING_ATTR_VALUE_FROM_DISP,

How to use QPXVBLK: QP: Bulk Import of Price List?

i'm trying to create a script for import price lists. i've read that this concurrent program "QPXVBLK: QP: Bulk Import of Price List" is what i need. i've been able to successfully create the script to populate the interface tables:

i figured it has something to do with the ORIG_SYS_HEADER_REF, ORIG_SYS_LINE_REF and ORIG_SYS_PRICING_ATTR_REF columns.

i've been running some tests and while some price lists are imported with no issues, some are not and some only partial. i'm not receiving any errors on the import which makes this harder for me to debug.

Oscar, keep in mind that my suggestion could not be the best one.
I have a copy of Nokia suite on my Windows XP partition on my Mac, just to test it.
The second icon on the upper row explains as a syncronisation with Outlook.
Try to do it and later you should use the iClod manager from Apple and Sync Outlook to ìiClod and to any iPhone iPod and so on.

        I use to follow this procedure.
1) Based on the select criteria.fetch values in to differnet itab's from differnet tables.
2) then try to put the selected rows based on condition into a single internal table.
3)u can send that final internal table from program and u have to use that internal table in form interrface.
4)design the smartforms and call the fields accordingly from the final inetrnal table .
5)u should be good in using select query ,read table statement etc.
check this with other and take a decision.some of them use to write codes then and there before using the fields using progarm lines.
but i am comfortable in my method.

Import/Export presets list is empty

I am using the most recent version of photoshop CC, 14.2 64-bit under Windows 7, I was optimizing the menus/shortcuts/workspaces/tools for my needs, and wanted to make a backup of my settings/presets on a flash drive to take on the go. When I go to Edit --> Presets --> Export/Import Presets, the list shows up empty and I am unable to do this.
So as a summary:

Changed multiple settings and presets
Export presets list empty
I checked inside the PS folder in Program Files, my settings (well, at least actions and brushes) are showing up as unique files, but somehow aren't picked up by "export presets"
