Importing & burning CDs registry settings missing

Since I installeld iTunes on new Windows 7 PC I continually get this message at startup "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a reuslt of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes"
I've already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, including on the last try, all the associated Apple software, Bonjour etc., and this hasn't fixed this. Is there something I need to also do to the Windows registry to give an absolutely fresh install?
I dont' burn that many CDs but I'm quite likely to want to import more CDs as I never imported my whole collection.

You might have two different things going on at once here.
Starting with the registry settings message.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Itunes driver's registry settings for burning CDs/DVDs are missing,

are generic and do not address the problem I've described in numerous posts - I have read and implemented these suggestions with out success. When launched, itunes complains that "the registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs are missing" is missing CD drivers. When I acknowledge the problem and try to burn CDs from itunes the error message "disk recording is not found" is received.

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

This really should have been posted in the "Using iTunes for Windows" section, but I can answer it for you. I noticed you list Windows ME as your Operating system. If you are using Windows ME, that is the key to all of your troubles. iTunes for Windows will not work with any version of Windows other than 2000 or XP. If you are using XP, you'll need to look into running a system file check to be sure that none of your Windows components have been deleted or damaged. (This usually requires your original Windows XP CD) Click Start>Choose Run, and type sfc /scannow in the "name" box, then hit Enter or click Run. This will scan your Windows files to make sure they are intact and operating properly. If any files are not in place or functioning, the SFC will ask you to put in your Windows CD so it can re-write them from the disc. I hope this helps.

  • Registry Settings Missing?

I am running Windows XP Pro SP 3, and have repeatedly uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes, but keep getting this message:
"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs & DVDs missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I've reinstalled, with no luck. What now?
    Thanks!

Well So much for support, NO one can tell me HOW to fix the registry so that the itunes will recognize the burning. Isnt ther a Place to just download the DRIVERS ????? If i burn the music MP4 icons to a different burning software it burns and will play music on the PC but NOT in the car stereo. someone said i needed to purchase the music in a different format, but I wasnt given any options. they look the same as myother music on mylaptop. ( which will not PLAY the new downloaded songs......even though i authorized them ) Im so lost with this its a hassle. If both my computers are autorized , they should let us download the music to each one, as obviously just copying them and moving is NOT helping me out.
I wish someone had some answers !!!!
IF anyone can help Email me. PLEASE

  • Importing Burned CDs, changing info etc...

Recently a friend bought an iPod Nano for me and put about 150 songs on it. After I received it, I brought it home to try to add more songs to it. I authorized my computer but could not add more songs without losing what was already on the iPod. (Synching replacing issues). So my friend burned the songs that were on my iPod onto CDs for me. I imported the CDs into the Recently Added folder. NONE of the songs information is correct such as the Title, Artist and Album name. How do I fix this? I tried double clicking on one to change it and I was able to change one song title, but nothing else. (Read-only option is not checked either). Would appreciate any help!!! Thank you!
    Dell   Windows XP

Im having the same problem. My OS is Vista home edition. Ive updated my itunes and When i put a cd in, it simple Spins then stops and isnt recognised by itunes! It works fine on Windows media player but i want the music on my ipod.

  • If you can't burn CDs due to missing registry entries...here's the fix!

This solution worked for me 1st time! It's not without some risk if you're not used to editing files, however if you take it slowly, and follow the steps exactly, all should go well.
The solution to this issue is at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2615.
If in Step 12 the UpperFilters entry is not there, then it must added back in. Do this by right clicking on the right side of the regedit screen, select "New", select "Multi-String Value", name it "UpperFilters". Your regedit window should now look exactly like the picture in the instructions link. Now continue with Step 12, modify your new "UpperFilters" by right clicking on it. Since you just added it, there will be no value data to delete so Step 14 can be ignored. Enter value data per Step 15 and hit enter. Click ok, reboot, and iTunes should work correctly without the error.
    Good luck...Paul

I followed your steps and found I don't have upper or lower filters but I still have the problem. I never had this problem with earlier ITunes versions (I installed the latest version 10.0.1.22)

  • ITunes Registry Settings Missing

hi, Every time i startup itunes 7 on my pc i get this screen and i can't burn anything (i an import though):
    http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/5773/ituneserrorew0.png
i've re-installed five times (and no, i don't have another burning software installed, except for the basic windows cd writing thing) in the last two days, and i keep getting this error. i'm having problems downloading album art (tunes hangs then i have to end itunes manually) , and also: when i try to use coverflow my system hangs and then i get a blue screen of death and the system restarts (something i haven't seen since the days of windows 98). right now i'm scared to plug in my ipod 4g, for fear that it might go haywire with this version of itunes.
    system specs:
    2ghz Celeron
    512mb of ram
    windows xp home sp2
any help would be greatly appreciated

okay, for some advanced techniques for dealing with that error message, see:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters
with the blue screen, let's try getting a minidump to the Apple enginners for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it to this email address
in the email, make sure that you include:
    (1) the minidump file (as an attachment).
    (2) a link to this thread
    (3) a brief description of your problem, and the context you're getting it in.

  • Trouble Importing burned CDs to iTunes 11.0.1

For years I have been able to import CDs which I have burned on my home stereo from vinyl and other sources.  Now that I have iTunes 11.0.1, whenever I try to do this I get a message that I have inserted a blank disc.  I have a large collection of these burned disks, and would like to import most of them into itunes and put them on my ipod, but haven't been able to do so since updating iTunes to 11.0.1.   Thanks in advance for any insights/solutions.
....  I have even put in CDs that I had imported previously, and am still told that I have inserted a blank disk, though the music from the first time i imported it has always been available, and the disk plays everywhere else.

The headers on the problem tracks may be corrupted or nonstandard. This can happen with some MP3 conversion or import utilities, and iTunes is very picky about headers. If you search the web for "mp3 repair" you'll find a number of repair tools. Here is one utility I've seen mentioned:
    Mp3 Validator Mac version
I haven't tried it myself so I can't attest to how well (or indeed if) it works, but it'd be worth a try.
    Hope this helps.

  • Importing & Burning CDs while trying to listen to iTunes at the same time

I used to be always listen to any song in my iTunes library while I was either importing or burning a CD, and it sounded normal. But now, if I try to listen to a song while I am importing or burning a CD the sound gets really fuzzy, the songs slows down, and starts skipping. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? What did I do to make this start happening? And more importantly...does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

Exact same problem here - iTunes has been maxing out the CPU since version 7.3 and this appears to be causing the distortion.
I've seen a few similar posts on these boards but no one has posted a fix.
