Importing & Burning Folder Issue

I've had iTunes on my PC for a few years now, but I have just noticed that something has changed:
My iTunes library is located at C:\users\myusername\Music\ .
ITunes is set up to use this path when importing new media.
However, when I add new media, either from a CD of the iTunes store, the files are stored at C:\users\myusername\Music\Music\ (in a folder named after the album and artist).
Thinking of uninstalling iTunes and starting again, but before I do this perhaps someone else has seen this issue?.

Uninstalling & reinstalling iTunes will not affect your folder sctructure.
The normal location for the iTunes library folder is <User's Music>\iTunes with the media folder inside this. Your description is consistent with a media folder that has been created at <User's Music> and is in the right-hand layout shown below.
Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
If you have upgraded from version 8 (or earlier) to iTunes 9 (or later) at some point, then your media folder (everything inside the red outline) may still be called iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media. The extra Music folder inside the media folder is used if you have allowed iTunes to Upgrade to iTunes Media Organization (iTunes 9) or used File > Library > Organize Library > Reorganize files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (iTunes 10). Depending on your choices for Keep iTunes Media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library plus a little bug in which one build changed the name of the file storing the choice of layout it is quite easy for some of your files to be organized according to one layout and some the other.
If you want to reorganise your library into the more regular form, which will make it easier to backup and transfer from one machine to another, see this post.

  • Import and Folder Issues

I've spent hours trying simply to consolidate some images into various folders. I'm trying to import a file with the extension .CRW into a folder and get the message that (same filename).psd already exists in the folder. Yes, it does, but I want them both. Why is that a problem?
Next, I want to move three files from one folder to another but I get the message that (filename).XMP already exists in the destination.
So I created a new folder and tried to move the files to that folder. Two of them moved, but the third one didn't. I've repeated this several times, but the remaining file just stays in the original folder.
I already started over with a fresh database once and lost many hours of work. I can't afford to do it again.
    Please help!

    Ken,
There are numerous posts on this subject. Currently LR treats same name, different extension files as sidecars of each other. Check out the numeroues RAW + JPG posts for example.
Import your files into different folders and then move them into the folder you want for now.
Hopefully this behaviour will be changed in the forthcoming 1.1 release mentioned by Jeff Schewe et al.

  • Folder Issue, imported but not showing up in catalog.

I've imported a folder into a catalog, the images are there but folder isn't visable?  Any suggestions on how to get the folder to show up?
    Thanks!

Right click on a photo, select Show Folder in Library (or some such similar words, I am at work so I don't know the exact wording)

  • Burn Folder on DVD

This is sort of a generic iphoto question and since i have this version i decided to post here...I have an imac and also a power mac. I downloaded all my photos to the imac and created a burn folder, and loaded all my pics into that folder, burned a DVD, and imported them all onto my iphoto on my power mac. I can view these photos on iphoto, but can not do anything else...i.e. email, drag to desktop...UNLESS I have the burn folder DVD running. Is there any way to change this so that i can do whatever I want with these photos, without having to have the DVD in?

Check your preferences on the Power mac (in iPhoto '08 - iPhoto menu ==> preferences ==> advanced ) and be sure that "copy items to iPhoto Library is checked" is checked. It sounds like it is not and that iPhoto did what you requested - referenced your photos rather than copying them
if that is the case you will need to delete the referenced photos so you do not have both the copied and the referenced photos in your library

  • How to create burn folder for backup with 2 accounts

The are 2 accounts on my computer: mine and my wife's. I want to create a single Burn Folder with important files from both accounts. How do I do that? Thanks,
    Owen

Tri-Backup, (30-day Free Trial), can get you around all of this, for one thing it'll allow you to break it up into custom size chunks to span several CDs or DVDs, then Burn those...

  • I am importing a folder of pictures and they import the same picture?

    Hi,
I am importing a folder of pictures and the picture information is correct but the thumbnails are all the same picture. If I move the pictures onto the time line they are the same picture. I just upgraded from CS3 to CS5. I tried to update the program but it said that Premier Pro CS5 is up to date. I have tried different folders but they import various pictures with incorrect thumbnails and the pictures are wrong also? Is this a program error?

OK everyone, good news. I am not losing my mind
I resized them to 72 dpi at 640x480 (4:3 normal video as specified by the new project. They still do not import correctly under any of the conditions I listed above. This time, I also dragged them from Adobe Bridge to the bin I was working out of. FYI, 300 dpi at 720x480 is EXACTLY the same file size as 72 dpi 720x480. I also have been able to import onsie-twosie photos at full resolution and they auto-fit in the video frame.
I believe many of you were able to fix this problem with the re-sizing work-around, it did not work for me. I have a hard time believing resolution matters when the pixel dimensions are the same. this looks to me like a configuration issue or something wrong with the 64 bit only version for cs5. CS4 works fine on my virtual machine I created to test (this is how I resolved the issue and got my project done).

That's a hardware issue and I'd ask on the forum for whatever Mac you have.

  • Burn folder naming

    Hi:
Ever since the 10.4.4 update, naming burn folders has been a problem. although I have set preferences to show extensions, when I try to name a burn folder without typing in the extension, something I have never had to do with any folder, I receive a message telling me I can't rename the folder. If I retype the name and add fbpf, it accepts that. also, for reasons unknown to me, sometimes the folder pops up with a name like burnfolder3.fpbf. Everything seems to work but I wonder what's going on and if there's something I should do to fix it.
    thanks.
    Powermac G5 2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Don't use OneStep.
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Importing Custom folder/item class gives warning

    Hi
When i trying to import custom folder in admin it gives me warning indicating that imported successfully but not in Business areas. now it shows in folder list but not in associated BA. so i have to manually assigned it to BA by selecting manage folders. Same thing happened with item class. it imported successfully but selected item was missing and it shows LOV in item class but when i select edit item class and i saw that selected item was empty.
    Is it bug?
    Plz help me.
    Thanks,
    Jay

    Hi Jay
I really do understand and again I sympathize. Let me state the correct approach and you will see how your organozation is deviating from what other companies do.
Most organizations that I work with have a single production environment. Under that they have a pre-production or QA environment, with further environments for development, test and training. They would never attempt to migrate to production without going through QA first, knowing also that QA was a copy of production that was refreshed not so long ago.
There would also be only one development environment and one test environment. It is not a good idea to have developers working on their own private EUL as this WILL cause issues during migration.
There's nothing to stop two developers working inside the same development EUL providing they are in different business areas. Its not wise to attempt multiple edits to the same business area at the same time as this makes for extremely difficult user testing.
Now, if you do decide to continue using multiple development EULs you must not migrate from these straight into production. You must migrate into the QA area first where you can test and make sure that no upset has occurred. Whenever something goes to production from QA it is imperative that those same changes be propogated to all of the other EUL instances otherwise you are asking for trouble.
    Does any of this help?
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Lightroom won't import a folder of jpg's

I tried to import a folder of jpgs on my Mac.  It successfully imported about 175 and then just stopped (but I've got about 5,000+ photos).  It will no longer import a single photo.  How do I find the offending photo so I can resume my imports.  I told it to move photos so all photos left in the folder are new to Lightroom.  If I deselect the first photo and try to import the rest.. I get the same problem.  Thanks.

    Thanks Dorin!!
you were correct! I didn't notice the rather hard to see icon on the one image shown which is displayed when a group of images are stacked together.
Simply unstacking the stack resulted in LR displaying all 1000+ images that were in the stack. How they got put into a stack in the first palce remains a mystery.

  • I can't move photos from iPhoto to my secondary hard drive or to a burn folder.  I have never had a problem with this before.  This is something new.   They will not drop into either folder.  Nothing happens.

I can't move photos from iPhoto to my secondary hard drive or to a burn folder.  I have never had a problem with this before.  This is something new.   They will not drop into either folder.  Nothing happens.
I checked my secondary harddrive and there is plenty of memory.
I emptied my burn folder but the photos still will not drop into it.
I created a new burn folder, no luck with this either.
230 photos is the maximum size of the events I am trying to move from iPhoto to save elsewhere.
I have shut down and restarted my computer.   No change. The photos still will not drop out of iPhoto.
My Mac Computer Storage shows that I have 62.2GB free out of 249.2GB (movies, photos and contacts taking up the most space)
My Lacie External Harddrive (2TB capacity) shows that I have 1.79TB available.  It shows that 207,729,520,640 bytes (207.73 GB on disk) are used.
I have never had this problem before.  It is usually very easy to move my photos from iPhoto.
I am not a computer expert (I work in surgery so don't have a need for lots of computer knowledge) so please explain in simple terms.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
    I really appreciate it.

YES Terence!  Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs.  I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly.  I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?!  I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.
Thank you so much for your help.   I really, really appreciate it.

If you have the original movie files, you'd be much better converting those, otherwise try MPEGstreamclip.

  • How do I move an album, from iCloud to a burn folder

Opened my iTunes and all of my songs have the cloud icon, next to them.  I wish to burn them to multiple cds, but cannot figure out how to put them into a burn folder.  Nothing happens when I click on the download cloud button.

    Hello kayceecowgirl,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Instead of draging songs to a burn folder, have you tried to burn a music CD using the steps in this article?

  • I have made a burn folder with photos exported from I-photo.  It now shows in information, that the date is created and modified is different from the original digitized date.  How can I get the original date to show in the info from Finder?

The Finder reports File information. The date and time of the photo are in the Photo's Exif metadata. The Finder has no awareness of this. All photos apps on any system do.
