Importing business definitions

I hava followed [this topic|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/10gr2_owb/owb10gr2_gs/owb/lesson7/bi-modeling.htm].
I'm using OWBluider 11g, after Business Definitions deployment,it was necessary import .eex file through Oracle Discoverer Admininstrator.
Database is in other machine, so I connected Oracle Discoverer Admininstrator, however I copied .eex file to my PC, and imported.(I know that I could import directly from other machine).
In load wizard, if I select "open an existing business area", I suppose EUL (that I import) should appear, but it didn't.
I already imported that, but I need to know the next step? I don't find this EUL.
Please reply!

Hi
The message "A folder named 'X was created or modified during the import but is not in a business area" means you have one or more orphaned folders. While these don't cause any problem it is best practice to have all folders in a business area. I like to create a business area called Master and have ALL my folders in here. No user gets access to here as it is just a holding place. I can then keep my orphans in here at the bottom of the list sharing the real non-orphaned folders as many times as I like with the real functional business areas.
You can manage orphans using the Orphan Folders tab after using Tools | Manage Folders.
Personally, I don't like the Discoverer interface from OWB and I prefer to create my own business areas and presentation area. I can do this much better than OWB can.
Best wishes
Michael

    hi
Do u have any relavant SAP system running in your company? if so, you will definitely have a SYS-ID and a SYSTEM-NAME in your system. i guess this error shouldn't pop after that.

  • Importing business areas

When exporting and importing business areas (from test to prod e.g.) i sometimes get the following problem.
For some workbooks I would like to use joins between folders in different business areas without "sharing" the folders between the business areas. This works fine when setting it up directly, but I have problems when exporting and importing. From previous advice I understood that I need to export and import both business areas and that the order in which I do so makes a difference. I tried this and found that it sometimes works and sometimes does not. So far I have not been able to determine why. Any help ? I use Disc Admin 4.1

It may be a similar issue to the Oracle BIS views. If you bring in the business areas by the import / export utility, it will order the input alphabetically, not an order that makes sense.
For example, if you had 2 business areas, and 1 was called: A and the second B (original names huh), if business area A had a folder joined to B, then at the time it comes in, B is not defined and I believe the join may go by the wayside.
I definitely know this is an issue with BIS and the most reliable way to not have this occur is to using a Unix emulator that Oracle recommends to bring the business areas in, in the correct order so that the joins are correct.
In your case, I'd check to see if this could be the problem and if so, could you alter the names of the business areas so that if imported back in the alphabetically order would work?
    Just a thought.

  • Deploying Business Definition error: RPE-02150: Failed to connect

During deploying a business definition module, I encountered an error message like this: "RPE-02150: Failed to connect with user EUL_FROM_OWB, password ***, connection null. Disco export file 2230.eex written to directory owb/deployed_files."
I have 10.2 as the database, OWB R2, and OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.2).
In fact, I did not have problem previously when I was using database 10.1.
    Any hints? Thanks.
    John

I hope this will find you in good faith...
I have tried a workaround on this issue and it worked fantastically.
The error message in Control Centre will generate an .eex file.
Before you deploy your objects make sure you've selected the Business Area and the Items you want to deploy, and then deploy.
Once done, locate your eex file and manually import this file via Oracle Discoverer Administrator.
    hope this will help

  • DTW Import Business Partner

    Business One 2005A SP01, Patch 29
    DTW 2005.0.17
    API version 6.80.319
I'm a newbie. Now that's out of the way.
Can anyone tell me in general, how does one determine what are the required fields and data types for a DTW destination? This ETL tool is very different from any I've ever used before in that the destination fields in the interface change based on the import data provided. I'm used to those being constant, with required fields and their datatypes clearly defined.
Currently I am trying to import Business Partners, all customers via ODBC. I provided data for the following BP fields:
    RecordKey                 1
    CardCode                  '1001'
    CardName                  'Company One'
    CardType                  'cCustomer'
    DefaultAccount           '_SYS00000001'
    GroupCode                 2
    PayTermsGrpCode      3
The error log tells me all of my records fail for the following reason: [OCRD:BankCode]Application-defined or object-defined error oBusinessPartners.
I assumed the required bank info had to do with with where I deposit payments from these customers. So I mapped data for BPBankAccounts. Every record is the same except for the RecordKey.
    RecordKey    AccountNo    BankCode
    1                   123              'My Bank'
    2                   123              'My Bank'
Now The records load, but I've got bank info on the Payment Terms tab, not the Payment System tab. So my fix made my error go away, but the data are wrong. I don't want to have to import fake customer bank data just to get around this error. What does DTW really want?

Thank you for your comments about the bank/payment tabs.
I've since discovered my real problem with DTW is that the error messages are frequently spurious. I don't know if this is a bigger problem because I am using ODBC rather than flat files.
I was only dragging in banking info because I had received the error message ' [OCRD.BankCode]Application-defined or object-defined error65171'. After I rebooted, I din't get this error any more and could load BPs without any banking info at all.
Likewise, I was having trouble with addresses and was receiving messages like
'[OCRD.State2] , 'The connected value 'MI' was not found in table States'Application-defined or object-defined erroroBusinessPartners'. This was a US customer. I am in the US and this IS a defined state.
What I've learned from this expereince is not to trust DTW error messages.

  • CAN NOT IMPORT BUSINESS AREA AS IT SAYS - JOINS NOT FOUND WHERE REQUIRED

We have recently migrated from Disco 4.1.48.08 to 10.1.2
Everything looks ok - we are able to look at existing workbooks and business areas. And we can export business areas successfully.
    However
When we try to import some business areas it returns - JOINS NOT FOUND WHERE REQUIRED and fails. This is now causing a problem with how we promote from our test/uat and prod environments.
    any ideas ?

Here's some information from Support that helped me...
Discoverer has many options on exporting and importing objects. Entire End User Layers, Entire Business Areas or only selected objects could be exported. To simplify the process of exporting and importing Business Areas, it is suggested that the export and import process should be done with entire Business Areas. The reason why it is not recommended that selected objects are exported and imported as a norm is to simplify maintenance.
It is still possible to export and import selected objects, but a knowledgeable Administrator is recommended to head the procedure. The process could get
very complex and difficult to manage.
    Some Additional Notes:
    - Join conditions are exported, but are not indicated as an object. Join conditions are only exported ** if ** the joining folders are exported.
    - If the ‘refresh’ option is performed in Discoverer Administrator on an object and the underlying object on the database is not available, the object is dropped from the EUL. It is of utmost importance that the objects exist on the underlying database before the ‘refresh’ option is executed.
    - Functions and Workbooks are not exported when exporting an entire Business Area. Functions and Workbooks have to be exported separately.
The first bullet is what was giving me this error "JOINS NOT FOUND WHERE REQUIRED". I was unable to do a full export - another unrelated error, so I came up with an alternate solution. I created a new BA that only contained the standard folders that my two custom BA's referenced - by JOINS and inclusion in my complex folders. I exported all 3 and they imported into the new instance with no issue.

I expand the BW Node but alas! dont get any BO in it..
It shows a message "Loading...." and hangs..
I've read some of the discussion Forum on SDN...
I've given the DQE Admin UserID and Password correctly.
Also I've done the User Mapping for BW System and gave the same UserID and Password as given in DQE in the "Personalize" section
I've tested the "BW" Connection using the option "Connection Test".
    It gives "DQE Connection Succeeded'.
Please let me know where i'm wrong..
    Thanks..

First thing dear Actually you are using the wrong term it is not exactly import it is EXPORT the existing BC4J component in Jdev.
Just run the export command it will automatically create the package in the Home directory.
Create a new JWS and Project and add related PG or Region there.[[Which you have exported]]

  • Importing element definition from an  EDD into a template - does not work

FM 10.0.1 German on Windows XP SP3.
When importing the element definitions from an existing EDD into an existing template, FrameMaker converts the template into a  new EDD.
So the element definitions which are correctly defined do not appear in the template.
The highest level element is than ElementCatalog in the template and not the higherst lvel element defined in the EDD.
In FM9 this was no issue.
Any help is appreciated, I have a deadline and must do some changes in the EDD.
    Best Regards
    Thomas

    Lynne,
EDD is english (Version FM7.0), Interface language is German.
    Maybe it´s a localization issue.
I have attached a captivate demo pdf so you can see what happens and the
    defective EDD.

    Thomas,
No question the behavior you describe is a bug. However, I am unable to
duplicate it. I created an EDD with two element definitions:
    Element (Container): doc
      Valid as the highest-level element.
      General rule:  (
When I imported element definitions from this EDD into a new portrait
document, FM reports that element a is referenced but not defined and that
b is defined but not referenced. However, with all elements listed, the
element catalog shows a, b, and doc. The metatemplate elements are not
    available.
I wonder if this is a language-dependent problem. Is your EDD German or
English? What about your user interface?
Can you send me a short EDD that fails as you've described?
      Thanks,
          --Lynne

  • JDev 10.1.3.3 - issues with imported Business Components

    Hi,
I have got some issues with importing Business Components in JDev 10.1.3.3.
I cannot discover/use the imported components.
What I did is the folowing:
    1. In a existing project I extended the default base-classes to create our own layer
    2. created a project called ModelShared
2a. configured the project to use the base-classes I created in step 1
    2b. created an entitybased-viewobject (RefCodesByDomain)
    2c. created bc deployment-descriptors
    3. created a project called RelatieModel in the same workspace as ModelShared
3a. added dependencies to the deployment-descriptors as well as the project created in step 2
3b. configured the project to use the base-classes I created in step 1
    3c. imported business components
Although I did not recieve any errors during the import of business components, I am unable to add the vo (RefCodesByDomain) to a service.
I do see the package which contains the vo but is has no entries.
Importing the business components to a new BC Project in a seperate workspace did succeed (I could reuse the vo).
I tested a little further and the folowing occurred:
    4. I created a new vo in the ModelShared Project
    5. I deployed the ModelShared
    6. Restarted JDeveloper
    7. Got the folowing error message in the console window when expanding a service in my datacontrol pallette:

  • Importing business area and then using workbook file

I need to use a workbook that was created by another user and saved as an external file.
They exported their business area and sent it to me with the workbook.
When I tried to open the workbook after sucessfully importing the business area I could not find the imported business area and the components that go with it and their was no way to browse to find them.
Can anyone help me with this problem.
    Thanks.

If you want to use an external workbook that was saved to the desktop. You choose open and then click the icon with the label computer underneath.
If the components in your business area are not the same as the ones where the workbook was created you will be given the option to substitute values to match what is in the workbook with what is in the business area.
When you choose this option however, it displays only the first three business areas you have access to. There is an up and down arrow but no scroll bar implying that these are all the options. However usual windows practice did not apply and the ommitted scroll bar did not mean that all the list was displayed, clicking the down arrow would uncover more business areas.
When I finished sustituting the variables I still got a join error. It was taking too much time so I got username and password of the account where the workbook was created.
