IMPORTING BW MODELS TO HANA STUDIO

Hi,
While importing BW models to HANA studio cube not visible only DSO and infoobject visible we tried to import DSO it is not activate

Hi,
See the Thread - Can we import Bex query, SPO, MP, INFOSET, OHD to HANA studio
the same question is raised several times.
With 7.40 SP05 (SR1, no lower Release) you can follow this document - http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-59482
With 7.40 SP09 (SR2 is SP08) you can go for the Eclipse based modeling

  • Benefit of importing BW models into HANA.

    Hi All ,
What is the benefit of importing BW models into HANA and vice versa in BW on HANA ?

    Hi Supriya,
i think you are mentioning about the migration from BW to BW on HANA here.
For understanding the benefits , first you need to understand what is HANA. In simple terms HANA is in memory  Data base (it is much more than that ). So being all your data kept in the main memory the speed of the processing will be 300 times better than using a conventional DB. (You can find blogson the perfomance of hana test cases of HANA)
So in BW on HANA case we will be migrating the underlying DB used in SAP BW (eg : oracle, SQL, or any conventional DB ) into HANA. As i told it is in-memory you will have very high performace gain in your report execution time.In BW on HANA the cubes and DSO will be represented as hana optimised cube / dso .
Also you can import BW models to HANA, means you can import a BW cube as Native HANA analytic view . Using native HANA modeling will have further performance gains while running reports

The procedure was exactly the same
The creation of Tables is done but i have this error with import data with each csv files:

I tried also to copy new data from source...
    Do you have an idea?
Thanks for advance for help .

    Hello,
LOAD TABLE command was not public - full syntax was never mentioned in any SAP guide on help.sap.com or Market Place (except SAP HANA Pocketbook-DRAFT). Therefore it is SAP internal syntax that can be changed anytime. And I guess this is what happened. Command is either deprecated or having different syntax.
If you need to import CVS file I would suggest to use official way - either IMPORT command (which was also not very public before but since SP03 it is mentioned in SQL Script Guide) or best using SAP HANA Studio import functionality (just be sure you use CVS as type of file).
You can find explanation of both ways in this blog:

  • Model in HANA Studio or IDT

    Hello Everyone,
    We have a question on a scenerio/approach:
    1.  We have HANA and have SLT table replication
    2.  Do we model in HANA (with Calculation Views, Analytic Views, Attribute Views) Studio or model the relationship model directly in Information Design Tool?
We see all HANA documentation states Calculation/Analytic/Attribute views and mentions only IDT for creating the Universe.  We don't see anywhere that you should create the model itself in HANA Studio or IDT.  Is there a preferred approach/Best Practice?
    Thank You!

Not very sure, what was the scenario that led BI expert author to that conclusion. Hope it was not one of those manufacutred lab scenarios.
Based on my past couple of projects on HANA, I know this for a fact by default Analytic View runs faster than physical tables. Client have always come up with same question and we have performed tests to get the right results.  You can do this simple test, run SQL statement on both and monitor "core" status on your HANA box. You can see in case of SQL, only 1 core get utilized and in case of Analytic Views all cores utilization will go up.
Also on article key concept it says "SAP HANA Studio is the primary client tool used to manage SAP HANA and to create analytic views" which is not true. "SAP HANA Studio is the primary client tool used to manage SAP HANA and to create DATA MODELS (which can be attribute view, analytic view, Calculation View)

  • Import BW model to HANA failed

    Hi,
We have BW 7.4 installed on Sy base database. I have created DSO and uploaded the data. Now In SAP HANA studio, I imported connection-->SAP netweaver BW with all user credientials and test connection successfully. Now i could see all the info areas with DSOs and Info object. Now I tried to import one of the DSO. I get error message.
    Please find the attached screenshot.
I googled it and found that
So you need to grant access to this schema to _SYS_REPO user as well.
    GRANT SELECT ON SCHEMA "EFASHION_TUTORIAL" TO _SYS_REPO WITH GRANT OPTION;
I created analytical views, calc view earlier. so i dont think i have that problem.
    Help is really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sri

    Hi,
There is automated way to get all info providers to be available in HANA studio as views. In your case it is Info object, just enable the check box as shown below to get view in studio.
In screen shot you can see two check box's :
External SAP HANA view for master data : To generate Attribute view
External sap HANA view for Master Data Infoprovider  : To generate Analytic view

  • Importing COPA data into HANA Studio

    Hello-
I am currently trying to import my COPA data into my HANA Studio.
I have extracted the files and I am trying to follow the steps listed here:
    https://wiki.wdf.sap.corp/wiki/display/bobjdemo/HowtoimportCOPAdata
Seems easy enough, but I can't decipher the first step: u201C1. Copy copa_export.tar.bz2 file from
idesapps\publicshare\HANA  to HANA server /tmp using tools like WinSCPu201D
I downloaded, but could not gain access to WinSCP. What are other tools "like" WinSCP?
Is there an alternate way to import this data without the first step?
    Thank you so much.
    Truly appreciative,
    John

    Hi John,
That wiki link doesn't work as it is an internal SAP site.
In any case, WinSCP is a FTP/SFTP file transfer tool. You just need to get that file over to the HANA server somehow. It doesn't really matter what tool you use, as long as it works!
    Cheers,
    Ethan

  • Unable to Import huge data into Hana studio

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to load a huge excel file, with  >139175 records .i get error  as in the screenshot. It is self explanatory that I cannot load that big data.
Now my question is there a way to load data in two different files and  then combine them?Or is there any other better way?
    Please guide
Any insight provided is highly appreciated

Hmm... looks like google loves me more than it loves you.
One of the first hits - I am sure that other search engines could bring that up too - was this:
How to fix GC overhead limit exceeded in Eclipse
Now, this is my thinking here:
It seems to be a general Eclipse error message, not necessarily related to SAP HANA plugins
the link says "increase available memory for Eclipse
the notion of "more data leads to the error" seems to relate to "more memory is required"
So, why don't you just go and provide Eclipse some more memory via the .ini file and see what happens?
Also, make sure to actually be able to provide more memory. 3 GB working memory (32 Bit version) might not be sufficient and even more important it's so 2003

  • How to Import data models into BPA

How can data models be imported into BPA? We understand that models can be imported from other
BPA repositories. We need to import from something that does not start out as a BPA model. We know how to import the data objects using the Process Generator. But do not understand how to efficiently import Cluster or entity objects (representing tables) connected to ERM Attrribute objects (representing fields). Currently only an EPC model can be imported using the process generator. We've tried importing structures using UML import of class models, but the resulting model is not usable in standard data models.
    Any ideas?

  • Cannot execute import/export database hana studio

    Hi,
We need to create a new Test company from the Productive Company Database, A few days ago we didn't have any problem executing the import/export functionality in HANA Studio:
    export "DB_PRD"."*" as binary into '/hana/Backup' with replace threads 10;
import "DB_PRD"."*" as binary from '/hana/Backup/' with replace threads 10
    rename schema "DB_PRD" to "DB_TST";
But now, when we want to do this we have the next error:

  • Is data compression all automatic? Or does manual steps occur in HANA Studio

    Hi all,
I'm new to HANA and have been leveraging SCN in a BIG way to answer my questions (thanks everyone for your contributions). This is my first post as I was unable to find an answer to my current question .
I've been reading up on data compression in HANA and I learned that there are different techniques, such as Dictionary, Cluster, and Run-length encoding.
My Question is: Is the compression automatic? Or does it need to be modeled within HANA Studio? Let's use Dictionary Encoding as an example. Are there algorithms in place within HANA that will automatically aggregate values so only distinct values remain? Will the attribute vector  and inverted indexed tables automatically be created?
Just as some background, this is what I am basing my question on:
    http://www.agilityworks.co.uk/our-blog/demystifying-the-column-store-%E2%80%93-viewing-column-store-statistics-in-sap-ha…
    Thank you!
    Kyle

    Hi Justin,
you are right, the compression is related to the delta merge - and therefore, as long as delta merges happen automatically, compression will also happen automatically.
SAP HANA has two compression stages on the column store: the first - and typically dominating one - is the implicit compression obtained from using a data dictionary for all column-store columns.
The second stage is often called "sparse compression" - it offers additional compression on top of the dictionary compression, with several available algorithms. During the "optimize compression" run, the most appropriate compression algorithm is chosen for each column (and some columns may not be sparse-compressed at all, because it would not bring a benefit).
The optimize compression run does not happen with every delta merge. Instead, it will be performed with the first delta merge on a given table, and then only if the data content of the table has changed significantly (typically, if I remember correctly, the system waits until the number of records has doubled. Note that the optimize compression run may _change_ the compression type chosen for a given column. The sparse compression itself will be done with every delta merge, using the algorithms selected in the past optimze compression.
If you have switched off automatic delta merging globally, or if you have disabled automatic delta merging for a given table, there will also be no automatic compression (in the entire system or on the given table). BW on HANA uses the smart merge feature, so that in a standard BW on HANA, automatic compression will happen (with the timing of the delta merge being decided in a cooperation between BW and HANA).
    Best,
    Richard

  • Creating an Import Connection in HANA STUDIO

    Dear SAP Aficionados,
We have recently installed the HANA solution in our current infrastructure, although there are still a couple of points still to workout.
Dealing with our internal team we are just about to start testing out the solution in a couple of days. Unfortunately we have stumbled over a small inconvenience that I think this team of individuals would help us find a solution.
In studio we are doing the following:
    File
    Import
    Information Modeler --> Source Object
Select or Manage Source System - we have to create a new one as we have yet to do.
Now creating a Connection I have a couple of questions:
a- should we create the connection for the DLT or the ERP SYSTEM?
b- As per our knowledge we have not created an "Encryption Passphrase" on either of these systems, is there a default one? It does not permit us to pass the to test the connection without the passphrase.
Thanks in advance for your help and orientation on this.
    Regards,
    Juan Santos

    Hello,
this functionality is designed for managing BusinessObjects Data Services to automatically load tables into SAP HANA.
Are you using BusinessObjects Data Services?
1.) You need to first Configure Import Server - go to perspective Modeler / section Setup / option Configure Import Server.
2.) In BODS you need to create new source system - go to tab Datastore and create new Datastore
3.) now when you will run import again you should see defined connection
Note: You should not be creating any entry manually.
For more information you should see Modelling Guide - chapters:
4.1 Configuring Data Services for Metadata Import
    4.3 Importing Table Definitions

  • Can we import Composite provider, Hybrid provider, Virtual Porvider, Advance DSO, Transient Provider to HANA Studio?

    Hi to all,
Can we import Composite Provider, Hybrid Provider, Virtual Provider, Advance DSO to HANA Studio.
    If yes then How?
Note: we are already on BW on HANA
    Regards
    Pavneet Rana

    Hi Pavneet,
As per SAP development strategy Hybrid, virtual and transient providers will be replaced by composite provider. New design are recommended in new composite provider.
Advance DSO and composite provider can designed and modified via BW modeling tools.
You need bw modeling tools 1.5 and above is recommended.
    SAP Development Tools for Eclipse
In order order to use Advanced DSO you need BW 7.4 SP 9.
    Thanks,
    Shakthi Raj Natarajan.
