Importing captivate project to premiere

We would like to create a captivate screen demo project whose output can be inserted into premiere, in order to blend a video into the bottom corner of it.
Is there a good way of importing the file? I see from an older forum post that this is a problem.

Hi Rick,
If I publish an .exe, I can't do fastforward or skip (or I do not know how to).
If I have a mpg or mp4 I can use a DVD player to to fastforward.
If I try to publish as F4V but I get the warning I should resize.
My Project is 1288x1054.
The Warning says:
Resize your project such that teh with and heigth are lesser than 1500 ans 1100 respectively,
ans Wdith X Height does not exceed 1024 X 768 (786432).
I dont know what Width X Height is, but however I didnt finde where I can resize the project.
In the german manual I didnt find resize or "Auflößung".
Can you give me some advice.

  • Transitions don't work after importing a project from Premiere to AE

I've imported a project from Premiere CS3 to AE CS3 and all my transition (fade + wipes) are now solids and they don't work on timeline or on exports, but they still show in my sequence.
How can I make AE use those transition again so I don't have to go through all project and keyframe transitions.
Notice that I use Cineform and that those transition are Cineform's one; hope that doesn't cause the problem since AE uses CF too.
Thnak you for your time and interest in my problem.

Exactly the problem. AE is only to able to translate a few transitions, which include the normal cross-disolve, linear wipe, dip-to-color and a few others, but since those routines are hard-coded in the Premiere Pro Importer, they have no way f doing the same for third-party products. So more or less you will have to rebuild your stuff, either by using the proper transitions in PPro or in AE.

  • Error importing old project into Premiere Elements 11

Trying to import old project backup - that I made a couple of years ago.  When importing the Project file, I get the error
"The selected file cannot be linked because it's type (video) does not match the original files type (audio and video)."
I try and select the file, but it then gives the error "The selected file cannot be linked because its type (audio and video) does not match the original file's type (video).
If I skip the ones that give me the error, I get an incomplete edit - with lots of bits missing.
HELP!!!  I need to sort this asap......for a client.
    Thanks

    filippinno
Here is my plan, either a start to better or a dud. We are going to start small to get a foothold in this.
My major puzzlement is you telling me that you are replacing video with video and getting the message
The selected file cannot be linked because its type (audio and video) does not match the original file's type (video)
.The only time I have ever seen that message is when someone is trying to replace still with video or video with still.
At this moment, where are the source media that went into the original Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project? Let us say, all in Documents in a folder named Special - all have their original names. Given that you are 100% that they are the ones that went into this project...the type (video or still) and file name and file extension.
I am not sure if it matters for this test whether or not you are using Premiere Elements 11 or 9.0/9.0.1, I just want to find out what is going on with your source media.
    (a) Open the project using Skip All if you are hit with a bunch of "Where is....?" messages which I assume you will be.
    (b) Go to the Timeline, pick a file with the colorful Media Offline display, write down the file name from its title band.
Right click that file on the Timeline and select Find in Media.
From Organize Media, delete the Media Offline thumbnail that was pointed out to you clicking Reveal in Media.
Go back to the Timeline and this same file, right click it and this time select Reveal in Project. That should take you to Project. Delete the file there that Reveal in Project points you to. That will also delete is counterpart on the Timeline. All traces of that particular Media Offline file are now gone in the project.
In that project, go to Get Media/Files and Folders and browse to and select the original file (with the exact same file name and kind that you just deleted from the project) that you have saved back in that Special Folder in Documents.
Drag that file from Organize Media or Project to the Timeline in the space made available by your deletion of it as an Media Offline thumbnail.
Does that work to replace that particular file. Is it the file that you had there originally? Keep in mind that we are identifying this file by name in each step and need a match of file name from start to end.
If this works for one, then we can plan around this basic finding. And, if this works we may revert back to Replace Footage. But, let us see what happens here first.
What is your estimate of how many of these Media Offline displays are there to be dealt with? How many of the media are in place on that Timeline and are no problem?
    Looking forward to the results.
    Thanks.

  • Importing a project FROM Premiere Pro to FCP - Any alternative to EDL ?

Hi, when I google this issue - trying to get a project from Adobe Premiere Pro (for instance CS4) to Final Cut I am always terribly frustrated to find only references to the fact that APP imports XML (and now in 4.01 with better support for Final Cut Pro XML). But APP only exports EDL, and that is a very limited platform for talking accross the programs. Does any one have a better solution? Is there any external software for converting an APP project into XML? Can anyone hint as to why Adobe doesn't include "export to xml" in the export menu (like Final Cut Pro so elegantly does) other than fear of people taking their projects and running away to Final Cut Pro (which doesn't make any sense at all, and is no way of dealing with users' needs). Because it would seem that they only want us to be able to move stuff from FCP to APP. But what about us, who desperately need to move in the other direction?! Any light on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers and a happy 2009.

+I would indeed like to do this test. To what email do I send a zipped file to?+
    http://www.automaticduck.com/contact/
+And also, if I may keep bothering you on this issue: Granted that APP projects are XML, still, Final Cut Pro projects and Avid Projects are NOT XML, they can just interact well with certain forms of XML (type 1,2,3 etc, but apparently not prproj), correct? (a curiosity)+
Correct, Final Cut Pro project files and Avid project and bin files are not XML. Final Cut Pro has the ability to export and import XML files that are formatted as XML. XML is a flexible file format, the files can web pages, preference files, document files, just about anything. Apple has defined an XML format that can be used to interchange project data with Final Cut Pro. For a lot of good reasons it doesn't make sense for third parties to write or read FCP project files directly so Apple developed a method to write and read project data through another format. XML is an excellent choice because it is so easy to work with, XML files are simply text, easily read and edited and written. Avid systems use another file format for interchange with other manufacturers, AAF. AAF is not XML.
A lot of editors first heard of "XML" via Final Cut Pro's use of it as an interchange format, so it isn't surprising that these editors equate XML with FCP. It is a bit pedantic of me to drive home the point, but I just want you to clearly understand the issue.

  • Importing Avid Project into Premiere Pro CC 2014?

    Hi all,
I'm a director editing a feature film with an editor.
My editor is editing via Avid Media Composer version 7.  I also have Avid 8 on my computer.  Long story short, I'm not avid proficient and would love to import sequences, bins of synced footage, etc. into Adobe Premiere CC 2014.  I'm not looking for something super accurate.  Transitions, effects, etc.  Not a big deal.  Mostly just trying to get bins of these synced dailies into a program that I know how to edit in.  (adobe premiere!)
    Thanks,
    Bobby

    Bobby
I don't believe that there is a way to translate bins, but you can have your editor string together a bin of synced dailies into a timeline, export an aaf and then import that to PPro.
This has worked for me with some success during testing, although I think it may depend on versions of PPro / not work so well if you are using AMA in avid.

  • Error Importing Premiere Elements project into Premiere Pro CS5

    Hi,
I am working on a multi-part video project that I started in Premiere Elements 8.  I put in hours upon hours of editing on the first part and I found that the more I edited, the more often the program would crash (infuriating!).  So I started using Premiere Pro CS5 to produce the second part, resolving to come back to the first part later.  Well, I've come back around to needing this first part done, and it is just undoable in Elements (crashes every 20 seconds!).  I'd like to import that project into CS5 if possible.  The help documentation says this should be perfectly possible... but I'm having no luck.
When I attempt to open my Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro, it tells me the project must be converted from Elements .prel to Pro .prproj, and I click through the prompts as normal.  But then as soon as it starts trying to open the project, I get this:
"The Project could not be loaded. It may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
I downloaded the Premiere Elements 9 trial to see if it would be less crashy (and it is), but I'd really prefer to have all my video in one program, and CS5 does the best job (and has most of my hours invested).  Elements 9 opens the "damaged" project just fine and I can edit and export normally, so why can't CS5?
Am I stuck recreating the project from the ground up in CS5?

In very general terms, a contemporary PrE Project (PREL), will Open in PrPro, with the steps that you outlined.
Now, there are all sorts of considerations, for aspects that will not likely work:
Instant Movie/Themes, as PrPro cannot read those
Some Effects that PrPro does not have, like the NewBlue FX
Some Transitions that PrPro does not have
Some Title animation Presets, that PrPro does not have
Do you have any of the above in your PrE Project? There are probably other circumstances, but those are all that come immediately to my mind.
The simpler the PrE Project, the greater the likelyhood that it will Convert to a PrPro PRPROJ file.
PrE 8 and PrPro CS5 should be close enough to work, again in those general terms. I can Open simple PrE 4.0 Projects in PrPro 2.0, but cannot Open PrE 7, 8 or 9 Projects in PrPro 2.0.
    Good luck,

  • Failure to import fcp7 project's xml into Premiere Pro 2014.  Details below.  Why is it crashing? Any thoughts?

Here are the details of my problem:
Premiere Pro 2014 (up to date)
Mac book Pro OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 with 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor
Source footage includes a variation of codecs as follows: H.264 in a .mov container, 1920 x 1080 Apple Pro Res 422, Linear PCM
There are no error messages, the import into Premiere Pro 2014 begins normally but the "progress bar" never starts and then after about 10 seconds a blank white box appears followed by the pinwheel.
When the problem occurred I was trying to import a fcp7 project's xml file into Premiere Pro.
I emailed Adobe Support Tech the fcp7 xml file and it crashed his computer, however, I was able to successfully import one clip from fcp7  (an Apple ProRes 422, Linear PCM, duration 1 minute) from the fcp 7 project into Premiere Pro, but not the whole project or the bare essentials (the cut itself).
I am not running other software
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?  Not that I know of...
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU). ??????
I am using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration
The problem only happen when I try to import the FCP7 xml project file into Premiere Pro

    Hi Lynn,
Have you inspected the XML file for any anomalies? That might be a way to see if any third party effects were used.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when I import CS6 project files

I recently upgraded to CC, but every time I try to import my project file from Premiere Pro CS6 into Premiere Pro CC it crashes, or stops working if you like.
This is very irritating as I wanted to make use of the SpeedGrade workflow in the CC packaged between Premiere Pro CC.
My project file is no longer than 1 minute, however is does contain After Effects CS6 compositions, could this possible cause the crash? I have tried to import without these but it still stops working for some reasons.
Also I have no idea where to find the error log for crashes on Adobe software.

I have experienced similar crashes and timeline playback failure when importing a CS6 project into CC or CC 2014. I had to rebuild two projects by hand before I realized it was a bug in CC converting the CS6 project files to CC project files. I don't think this has been addressed yet, but I have had better luck starting projects from scratch in CC, not cross-converting a CS6 project. Although I'm still experiencing issues with multicam projects in CC 2014.
Curious to hear others chime in on this.

  • CS3 premiere import ppj. project problem

    Hi,
I gotta problem with CS3 premiere importing a project file.
I'm grabbing Premiere project file ppj. from Premiere 6.5 on
PC and transferring it to CS3 on Mac. Problem is when I try
to do this. I can't, it has an error message saying "this project
was saved in a version prior to adobe premiere pro cs3 and
can not be opened on a mac." Is there anyway to fix this
    problem?
    Thank You
    Paul

    Yep...
Open it in 1.5 and save it
...then open it in 2.0 and save it...
    then open it in CS3
then you only have to deal with opening it cross platform.

  • Importing  a Video Transcript into a Captivate Project /Adobe Captivate 7

I have a video imported into my Captivate Project, and I have a script for the video, is there any way to import the script without me having to type it in Captivate?

If you want the the transcript (known as Closed Captions in Captivate) to be in sync with the video, then that is going to be a tedious task. I would suggest you do that in some video editor tool outside Captivate, emded the transcript into video and then import the video into Captivate.

Lilybiri may be talking about this blog post that offers a solution for localising parts of the TOC that cannot be changed to match a language.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/02/changing_default_captions_in_t.html
There is no mention in the blog about the dialog you are interested in because it was only added in a later version of Captivate.  But perhaps one of the Adobe reps here would know if it would work.  You would need to know the specific name of the internal string variable that needs to be changed.

  • Import a Premiere CS3 Project into Premiere Elements 7.

Is it possible (or NOT) import a Premiere CS3 Project into Premiere Elements 7?
Thanks a lot for any help.

It is only possible to open some PrE Projects into the right version of PrPro, but will not work the other way around. The error message that you will get is "This Project was created in Adobe PrPro and you need to open it in that program."
Even going the PrE to PrPro route is filled with potholes. I can open some PrE 4 Projects in PrPro 2.0, but not all - depends on what was done. Later versions of PrE will not open in PrPro 2.0, but some have opened in CS3 and CS4, though much can keep one from being able to do that.
    Sorry for the bad news,

  • How do I import animated gifs into Premiere with a transparent background?

I have an animated gif that I got from the internet, and I'm trying to import it into Premiere Pro with a transparent background. The gif is of a video game character standing still and blinking. Whenever I import it, it always has a white background, so I need help on how to change that.
I've gone into Photoshop and removed the white background frame by frame, making it transparent. I do this by using the magic wand tool to select the white background, then hit "delete" to turn it into that diamond grid, which means it's transparent. I then select File -> Save for Web. I preview every frame, and it shows that the backgrounds are transparent. I save it as a gif. But when I import it into Premiere Pro, the white background is still there.
I've read many forums online about people trying to import images into Premiere Pro with a transparent background, but none of them have explained how to do it specifically for animated gifs. Every answer has always been "export the image as a png, that'll work", and sure enough, I exported a few frames of the gif as pngs, and those few frames had transparent backgrounds in Premiere Pro. But I don't want a png because those aren't animated sequences, those can only be still images. I need to export it as a gif so that it will remain animated, but gif files always have that dreaded white background in Premiere Pro.
I suppose I could export every frame as a png, import each of those frames into Premiere Pro, then string all the frames together and tweak them so they'll be functionally identical to the animated gif, but that would take forever. I'm making a video project and I need numerous animated gifs to work with, so I don't want to do that with every single one of them. I'm looking for a way to simply import the gifs into Premiere Pro and be done with it. If there is any way to do this, please help me.
    -Robert

faind on gif transparency and other cartoon animation problems : Adobe After Effects
" The reason: GIFs don't support alpha channels. Instead, their file structure assigns a certain color value to be read as totally transparent. There aren't any degrees of transparency as you find in graphics formats that do support alpha channels.
To use an animated gif in AE, you'd first have to create the areas of transparency, then convert the series of images into a graphics format that supports alpha channels, and there are a bunch: PICT, TIFF, TARGA or PNG, to name a few."

  • Trouble opening Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro

    Hi All,
Just bought Production Premium CS6. I've been working on a project in Premiere Elements 9, and I'd like to continue working on it in the new snazzy Premiere Pro CS6. But when I try to open the project file I get the following error:
"The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
I can still open the project in PrE, though, and I can even open other PrE projects in PrPro.
I've tried opening autosave versions, but always get the same error.
Any thoughts on what else to try? I really hate the idea of dropping so much money on PrPro and having to continue editing in PrE.
    Thanks!
    Martin

So long as the versions of PrE and PrPro are contemporary, the PREL (PrE Project file) should open, or Import, with some caveats:
There are many 3rd party Effects and Transitions, that are in PrE, that do not exist in PrPro - hence their use can cause issues. An example would be the NewBlue FX Effects/Transitions.
There are features in PrE, that do not exist in PrPro, and these can cause problems. An example would be Themes/Instant Movie.
PrE has a tiny subset of the Sonic AuthorCore modules (a larger subset makes up the basis of Encore) used for DVD/BD authoring, and if one has done any authoring in PrE, such as Create Menus, or the application of Chapter, or Menu Markers. Those authoring aspects can cause problems.
First, I would attempt to Import (not Open) the PREL into PrPro.
If that does not work, go back into PrE, and check for 3rd party Effect/Transitions, and remove any. Check for Menu or Chapter Markers, or Menus, and remove those. Same for Themes, or Instant Movies - remove all. Try again.
Now, PrE 9 and CS6 are not really contemporary. PrE 9 came out during the run of CS5 (not CS6), and PrE 10 (changes made in the program) is closer to CS5.5, and perhaps CS6. There could well be just enough difference, as to create problems there, and a PrE 9 PREL just might be far enough back, as to preclude CS6 being able to either Open, or Import it.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
