Importing CDS Problem

For some reason, iTunes is not importing properly. When I put in a CD it recognises it fine, imports it fine for the first couple of songs, next track or so it only imports the title track or artist then after no details at all but will play the file no problem.
Not altered anything on computer. Updated iTunes no result. Any clues, does it only different CDs, tried restarting PC, nothing some to make difference.

Make sure that error correction is not checked. Look for this in Edit>Preferences>Advanced tab>Importing tab. I hope that this fixes your problem.

  • Problems importing CDs

Hi, I have seen other discussions on problems importing CDs & Gracenote. I have the following problem.
Using iTunes 10.2 on my laptop, CDs will not import when I am connected to the internet at home, but the same CDs will import when I am at work.
At home the import will run very slowly (takes several hours) and eventually report as completed but although the tracks are on the hard drive they are unplayable. At work, on the same laptop, the import completes in a matter of minutes and the tracks are playable.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this and any suggestions on a solution? I don't want to haul my entire CD collection to work to import it (not to mention my employers don't like it).
The other thing to note is my home desktop machine exhibits the same characteristics as the laptop at home (very slow, unplayable once completed).
    Cheers.

You'd probably be better off posting this in the iTunes discussions. Check your import encoder settings.

  • TS1362 I am having trouble playing imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking which is a bit like buffering is this a common problem and can i rectify it.

Being new to the iphone I am having trouble listening to imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking a bit like buffering.  Is this a common problem and can it be solved just by addressing a general buffering problem which I already have on youtube but have not rectified as yet.
    Thanks Kaz T

If <alanfromnewtownards> fix fails to address the issue - turn off iMessage and Facetime in Settings.  Settings\iMessage, and Settings\facetime.
    Sync by cable to iTunes.
Leave cable connected, open Settings\iCloud and ensure at least Mail is on and dsplays your Apple iD email -  then turn iMessage and Facetime back on.  Ensure that in the ISettings...\iMessage...\Facetime page that the Receive at field and Receive video calls at email address is the same address as your Apple I.D.
    Resync when finished.
If still having problems with Facetime then check that the required port is open - allowing traffic in your router.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
In some cases you may need to turn on Port forwarding and open the port manually to allow traffic through.  See your router documentation for details.
If having problems verifying, open iTunes store App on your pad.  at bottom of page, click on your ID and sign in. Go to your Account details (re-veryfying and answering security questions may be required to do this) - check all details are correct.
Finally right click your device icon in iTunes and select Reset warnings.  resync when finished.

I am having problems importing some CDs into iTunes on a laptop with Windows 8. Most CDs import without problem. The ones I can't import can be imported into iTunes with Windows 7. Does anybody know why this problem is occurring?

First-off, this seems to be a general problem with 10.4 (across all the operating systems of which I am aware).  Unfortunately, I cannot provide a permanent solution but, if you need a quick fix, this will (hopefully) work for you.
For some inexplicable reason, iTunes no longer recognises standard Windows paths.  For example:
    Y:\Music\Buddy Holly\Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
The end result is that it will import a playlist with no content.
It will, however, recognise the equivalent Apple paths which look like this:
    file://localhost/Y:/Buddy Holly/Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
It is possible to convert your existing playlists using a few basic replace commands in something like Notepad.  In my case, I made some code changes in my music manager and now generate two sets of playslists (one standard and one to accommodate iTunes).
Forgive me foir stating the obvious but please remember to make sure that the disk / path containing your music is accessible when doing the import otherwise you will probably get a blank result.  Note that you can do a bulk import by selecting all the (revised) playlists and dragging them onto the iTunes sidebar.
I am sorry that this is not a "clean" solution but it will work if you are in a bind.  The only alternative of which I am aware is to wait for Apple to fix the problem.

  • How to fix the problem with importing CDs with the new version of itunes

    Hello,
I am trying to fix my itunes so that i can import CDs into my library. I understand there is a bug and i need to change to the 7.9.3 but how do i do that?? I am not computer savvy when it comes to the inner workings and changing things like i need to with this problem so help is greatly appreciated!!!

Short of rolling back your iTunes to 10.0.1.22 and your Apple Application Support to 1.3.2 (CoreAudioToolbox.dll is kept in the Apple Application Support program files), there's a few possible workarounds.
    (1) Change your importing prefs to use a different encoding (won't help with the device syncing variation though), and/or disable the convert to 128 kbps AAC when syncing option.
    (2) Replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a 7.9.3.0 as per:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12576816#12576816
    (3) Or, replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a shadow copy of a 7.9.3.0 as per:

  • Continual problem importing CDs

For years now I have had problems importing CDs, and I am at my wit's end. Many times when I import a CD, I finish, eject the CD, and find that my songs are no where to be found on itunes. Often time they will hang out in the "recently added" playlist, but even then, if I had gone through the trouble of "getting info" and changing the song descriptions and what not, those changes would surely not be shown there. Furthermore, I can't seem to get itunes to recognize the tunes even when they are in this recently added area.
    Please help.

I have lost songs in the past and this is what I did to fix it. iTunes uses an on-line service called Gracenote to get the details like song titles, album title, artists, genre and so on. One of those bits of info is whether or not the CD in question is a compilation. This data was entered by people like you and me. If Gracenote doesn't have it in its database, it will prompt you to enter the info and the next person will have it ready to go.
You can search under artist (CTL+B) to look for "Compilations" or you can also look under "Various Artists"
iTunes files albums by ALBUM ARTIST when possible. Gracenote doesn't give that info so if there is a guest artist on one song, that song shows up as a separate album. I fix this by highlighting every song in that album and right-click to GET INFO (CTL+I) and fill in the blank for ALBUM ARTIST.
A more basic check is to look in EDIT > PREFERENCES > ADVANCED to see where iTunes puts things by default. I have a pretty big library, so I installed a separate drive and made that my default. Right below the drive location is a couple of important check boxes.
"Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" means that iTunes will create folders by ALBUM ARTIST (or ARTIST if you didn't fill in the blanks) and each album as a sub-folder.
"Copy Files To iTunes Media Folder when adding to Library" If you have music files in your computer (thumb drive, desktop, e-mail, MP3 disc, etc) and you add them to your iTunes Library, they stay right there if this box is not checked. iTunes knows where to find them (until you pull the thumb drive out) If you check this box, iTunes puts a copy in the Library: MUSIC > ALBUM ARTIST > ALBUM >
There is another check box that helps find lost songs FILE > LIBRARY > ORGANIZE LIBRARY > CONSOLIDATE FILES

  • Problem importing CDs into iTunes

iTunes breaks some of my  imported CDs into multiple folders/albums. How can I combine these back into one album? I have tried drag/drop, but that does not work.

You need to make sure that artist and album artist are the same on all tracks

  • Having problems importing CDs into itunes10

i have recently noticed that my imac is very reluctant to import CDs into itunes10 - as well as letting me burn data to CDs/DVDs.
sometimes it will let me burn a CD into itunes, but it will be very slow (used to be around x20 speed) and there will be 'clunking' sounds coming from the drive.
sometimes if it does appear to have imported a whole CD, the tracks have a length of 0:00!
is this a faulty drive, due to my imac being a fair few years old (i would hope that apple make their drives last a little longer than just a few years) - or just some kind of bug that needs fixing?
i would really appreciate if anyone could help me out - as i'm not keen on taking my imac in for repair!

    Abstractman23 wrote:
ok i'll try toast. but yes, i fear it may be the drive. do think i should take the imac in for repair (probably will cost too much, and be a huge hassle) - or just buy a drive that can burn/import CDs?
    many thanks!
Good question.   If you do find that the drive is bad, you may want to call ahead to Apple and get an idea what a 1 for 1 replacement would cost.
External CD drives that connect via USB are relatively inexpensive, but leave you with more wires and junk on your table.

  • Why is it taking so long to import cds

why is it taking so long to import cds to itunes? 10 minutes for 10 songs

  • HT3206 Why will PC no longer automatically ask to upload audio CD content into itunes? It simply stopped while I was importing CDs and will no longer add to library

Trying to import CDs into itunes and after many years itunes suddenly stopped automatic upload?

Okay, can someone please give a useful answer? Thanks! I have been experiencing exactly the same problem for some time now, and it is very annoying. Furthermore, I would like to point out to Chris CA that there is absolutely nothing ambiguous about the original post.
So here is the deal. I used to be able to burn CDs with iTunes that played back fine on both my car and home stereo. After some update, and I am very sorry but I really do not remember which one, as I am just a user and not a programmer and just want something that works, which in the end Apple used to be all about, and therefore do not keep track of all the updates, CDs won't play back on my car stereo. Nothing else changed, still the same brand of CDs (even the same stack!), still the same car stereo, and still the same 2007 MBP. So by simple deduction I conclude it must be a software update. And I do not care what the exact cause is, I just want a fix!
I'd like to apologize for my tone in the above, but it is just a very annoying problem, even more so because it seems nothing is being done about it. Thanks for your answer in advance!

  • Can no longer import CDs -Itunes freezes

I was going along just fine importing CDs and then one day after importing two CDs, it stopped working. Each time I try to import a CD, I see the list of songs, start the import process and everything locks up within a few seconds. I have to manually shut down - Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work. I can't use the CD diagnostics because that freezes up too. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Laurie

    Hi
I'm having the exact same problem too. I had posted here a while ago but no one had any solutions. The only thing that I can suggest is to upload the tracks one by one. Sometimes I can get away by uploading say 4 tracks in one go other times I can only upload 1 o 2 at a time. I know its not really a solution but thats what I ended up doing.
The problems began after I downloaded the latest iTunes version. although it could be windows xp too - I had Win XP with SP1 and not SP2. But then, I upgraded to SP2 and the problem didn't go away.

  • Itunes 11.0.1 not importing CDs properly

I have just updated to itunes 11.0.1 and now find that it won't import cds properly.
The import window functions as it should and the CD imports onto the hard disk. (I can find the files using Finder).  However, itunes does not show the files.  If I use the search within itunes I can see the album title. However, when I click on it, I don't get to the album.  I just get all the albums on my mac.  If I scroll down to where the album should be in the library (say B for Black Moses) then the music isn't there.  If I click on the file in Finder, it plays in itunes but still doesn't show up in the library.
This has only happened with the last update and has happened with two separate cds (I haven't tried to import more).  Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong?  I have itunes match running on the computer too.
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

p.s. I know that Apple don't both reading or responding to comments on here, but seriously, your products are becoming a laughing stock.  Apple maps is beyond a joke and iOS6 was total @@@@.  Why can't you test products properly before releasing them? You are after all the biggest company in the world.  There is no way I'm getting an iphone 5 and when my mac is eventually replaced, I doubt it will be with another apple product.
    [End of rant]

This sounds like it might be a network problem.
First, quit then relaunch iTunes and see if  that helps.
Second shut down the computer and pier cycle the Internet router and power up the computer. Let us know how those steps work.

  • No permission / access denied-message when importing cds to external hd

    Hello all,
I can't import cds to my library folder on the external usb hd.
This happens after I did the following:
    • I have an iTunes library on an ext hd which used to be connected and which I used to admin via pc
    • I connected it to my MacBook and imported the library to the "virgin" iTunes there
    • I started to import the first cd, it imported the first 8 out of 11 songs alright
    • I then realised I hadn't yet pointed iTunes to the iTunes library on the ext hd, so I caught up with it
    • It refused to import the remaining songs and refuses to import every other cd.
I changed back the default location to the [user]/music/iTunes/iTunes Music-path, and it imports again. On that occasion it copied the entire contents to the internal hd...
...which is exactly the opposite of what I want: I do want to use the library that is on the ext drive, and I definitely don't want to cram the int hd with music files.
So how do I convince iTunes that using the existing external library and importing there is the best solution for both of us?
Thanks for reading and replying - Cheers!

    Hi TonE,
I had exactly the same problem with a 2TB LaCie FireWire Drive after some login problem due some other bug.
A little but very helpful App called "BatChmod" saved everything - it is very powerful on changing file rights. Google for it, and be careful using it.
I only know the german interface of BatChmod, but some hints:
    - on the button on the top left, you can not only choose files but a whole drive to change permissions
    - permissions can be set to "owner", group", "everyone" and a long list of other optional assigns in dropdown boxes
    - OPTIONS: be careful, I just ticked "Change owner and permissions" and "unlock" and it unlocked my LaCie Drive.
Because the CTRL+i thing and setting permissions there would not work...
    Best luck
    Chris
