Importing clips into some folder??

I have a lot of video to import but I don't want to import it all into one project. Is there a way in iMovie 06 to import all my clips into a folder or something then be able to import those clips into my various projects so I could pull the clips as I need them and not have to re-import the clips into each project from my camcorder? Thanks.

I recently developed a very simple technique for getting DV clips into an iMovie06 project without importing them directly. First, I transform the clip, whatever the underlying codec, into DV and name the DV files in the order I want them to appear. (Use of free MPEG Streamclip is recommended)
Then I create an iMovie06 project with the correct aspect ratio (4x3 or 16x9). Then I save and close the project in the same folder as the DV files.
Then in Finder I right-click the iMovie06 project and use "show package contents" to reveal the contents of the project.
I double click the Media folder and then select and drag all of the clips into the Media folder.
Then I double click on the iMovie project. When it opens, it will announce that there are items in the trash. Those items are the clips which were just added to the folder prior to opening the project.
Open the trash and systematically drag each clip into the clip menu spots in the sequence in which you wish to view them. Save the project and close the empty trash.
The project is ready for further editing.
This saves a great deal of time and seems to improve the video quality by avoiding a lengthy, second import process.
Cheers.

  • Import clips into FCP X version 10.0.8 and keep the original clip names

Can you Import clips into FCP X version 10.0.8 and keep the original clip names in the event original media folder? in version 10.0.8 it automatically allocates date / time of the event. I need it to keep the original clip name i:e Clip0100 event folder original media Clip0100. I am aware you can change the clip name to original once in FCP X, But it's the event folder original media name which I want to remain as the original file name.

    Hi Tom,
    Thanks for the response.
I am aware you can do this change in the Info inspector so the original clip name from camera is used in the event library browser, but it does not change the clip name in the Final Cut Events Original Mieda file. This still remains as an event clip name "2013-05-23 17_08_13". I need the original clip name Clip0100 to remain as Clip0100 at import. FCP X doesn't seem to allow this happen any more in version 10.0.8.
    Cheers

  • How do I stop LR4 from organizing imported files into a folder by date.

How do I stop LR4 from organizing imported files into a folder by date. Most times when I import files I have already created a folder and sub-folder structure tyat I want to use. I then right click the desired folder and choose import into this folder option. Why does LR4 insist on organizing my already selected destination into a sub-folder with a date by default?

If you do it this way all the time consider a different approach:
Manually copy your images from the card into your desired destination folder in the Finder/Explorer. Once complete drag&drop that entire folder into Lightroom. When the import dialog pops up select to Add the images to the catalog (not copy or move). You will end up with the exact folder structure reflected in your library.

  • Imported clips into FCP 10.1.3 contain no audio in Yosemite...

I am running FCP 10.1.3 on a mid 2012 15" MBP Retina with the following specs...
    2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
Ever since I updated to the public beta of Yosemite, when I import clips into FCP X I get the clip but my audio is no longer attached. I assumed this was an issue with the beta and that it would be resolved in the actual release but alas, that is not the case. Does anybody have any experience with this or could anyone point me in a direction. Much appreciated.

Here is the requested screen shot. In the events list, you will see the clips have no waveforms. In the inspector, you can see that Audio is not even an option and in the Project Timeline, you will see that there is no Waveform present. This clip has audio attached. The source media is irrelevant as this happens with screen capture clips or with clips I've shot with 3 different cameras. If I check the source file, in finder or in the camera the audio is present. This only started happening when I upgraded to Yosemite.

  • Cannot import clips into iMovie 08

I have a few clips that were spliced together with QTPro and now I cannot import them into iMovie08. I have checked the movies themselves and I do not see any specific info that would cause a problem.
I cannot drag and drop the clips into iMovie nor can I use the import function, as the .mov files are greyed out.
This didn't happen before I upgraded to QT Pro.

    AAC, MPEG-4
For the moment will assume you mean QT MPEG-4 here and not something like Microsoft's non-standard variation. (If not QT then please advise.) In the case that it is QT MPEG-4, did any of the source files contain extraneous tracks like an iPhoto slideshow with its "Tween" track. Such extraneous tracks are not understood by iMovie '08 and it will reject their import. If so, then use QT Pro to delete the extraneous track(s)

  • 9.0.3 update loads old video clips into Movies folder

When I updated to 9.0.3, the first launch showed iTunes adding dozens of video clips from a random folder on my external hard drive full of Final Cut Pro and iMovie projects.
I clicked stop, but then it just went to another dialog box with a greyed out cancel and search button. The X to the right of the iTunes progress window does stop the process either.
The problem is that I have gigs of FCP projects that I don't need imported to my iTunes folder.
How to I stop iTunes form doing this?

UPDATE: I let it add all my iMovie and FCP clips from an external drive connected to the Mini and then I deleted them from iTunes. It did not try to add them when I quit and relaunched iTunes.
Same problem different Mac: If I option/open the same iTunes library with my Macbookpro, iTunes 9.0.3 tries to add all the iMovie and FCP clips again from the external drive that is only connected to the Mac Mini.

  • Imported files into wrong folder, easy way to move them to another?

Two things happened to me this weekend using Lr that caused files to go into the wrong folders.
On one import I forgot to change the folder to a new one and it dropped all of my pics from the CF card into an existing folder. Oops.
On another import I actually had images from what I would consider two seperate events. One was me goofing around taking pictures of the moon and the others were from St. Pattys day at the pub. So I've got moon pics in my St. Pattys 07 folder.
So is there an easy way to correct this without deleting and reimporting? I tried the obvious drag and drops of selected files in the grid but it seemed adamant that this was a no-no.
    Sam

Try from the center of an image and you should get a wornng dialogue about moving on the hard drive when you drop them on the folder you want. Hey do have to be all from the same folder for a given move.
Try selecting some and doing the arrow trick by the filename in Metadata to go to the folder and then move all you want from one folder to another.
Rather than in All Photos, as I previously mis-stated.

  • Importing clips into Final Cut.

I just downloaded Final Cut 10.1.  I am not new to video editing.  Clips that I have uploaded to IMOVIE play great.  These same clips when imported to Final Cut have 50% less quality.  I have worked with previous versions of FC. Never had this problem.  Would appreciate any help on this issue.  The clips by the way are mp4.  Thank you!

Sorry Tom, that was my fault. I was going through the different options and forgot to change it back.  Actually it looks just as bad in 100% and also in "fit."  I checked it in both.  Even went down to 50%, and it still looked bad.  Still pouring over all the reasons on my end and can't find the answer.  Called some of my friends at the TV station, and they have never seen this either.  I'll be up way into the morning hours, hoping to find a solution.  I am producing a documentary on the flood that devastated our town in Colorado back in Sept.  That picture you see in the viewer is one of the clips of the horrific flood that had us all evacuate for two months.  Anyway, this is the project I badly need to work on in Final Cut, but all clips look so horrible I can't work on this until we can figure this out.  Thanks again for all of your assistance.
    All the best,
    Greg

  • Bridge CS3: Not importing clips into Premiere CS3

One of the videos on the Adobe site shows someone right-clicking a movie (MOV, I think) and choosing the option to "Open with Premiere Pro CS3".
I created a blank test Premiere CS3 project. From Bridge, if I right-click an AVI and choose to "Open with Premiere Pro CS3", focus switches to Premiere, but no clip is imported.
    I'm using Windows Vista.
    Any ideas on this one?

Jim, I *am* using Bridge CS3. Version 2.1.0.100
    Windows Vista Ultimate
Eddie, yes the video tutorial shows how to open MOV video clips from Bridge CS3 into Premiere. My source clips are Windows AVIs. When I right click a clip in Bridge CS3 and choose the option to open with Premiere (actually the option is "Open With > Adobe Premiere Pro"), Premiere Pro CS3 gets focus (or opens if it's not already open), but no clip is imported.
Interestingly, I got hold of a sample MOV file (CheeziPuffs.mov that appears in the Adobe samples). When I right-click that file in Bridge, I am only given the option to open with QuickTime player. Premiere does not even feature as an option in the context menu.
When I ran up Bridge for the 1st time followin Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3 installation, it popped up a dialog box and said that the new programs had been detected and did I want to register them with Bridge (or words to that effect), which I did. So far, so good. But my AVIs just plain won't open in Premiere when I ask Bridge to do so.

  • Importing contacts into Public Folder email contact list under the folder

I am able to create a public folder and add a blank contacts list
    1. How to do I import external contacts into the public folders contact list?
    * I imported all external contacts via CSV into the GAL and then manually added all of them to my contacts list. I then moved them form my contacts to the public folders contact list.
There has to be a easier way.
    2. How come I can't show the public folders contact list in Favorites? I can see the public folder but not the contacts list in that public folder even after I add it to my favorites.

    Hi,
You may export the contacts from the Personal contact folder and then import it to the Public folder.
The following article for your reference:
    Export contacts
You can export contacts to a file that can then be imported into other applications, such as Web mail clients, Excel spreadsheets, or database applications. The most common export file format is a comma separated value (CSV) file.
    Import contacts
Contacts can be imported into Outlook from other applications or from exported Outlook contacts. These instructions assume that you have already exported the contacts from the other application, such as a Web client, Excel spreadsheet, or database application.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • How do you get copied files into a folder of our choice?

OK so this may sound like a very basic question, but it has been driving me nuts ever since I bought an Apple Mac some 3 years ago and I find it hard to believe there isnt a solution.
Objective: to copy or import files into a folder previously created by me within Apples 'Pictures' folder. E.g. "Holiday 2012".
Problem: on every program I have used, inc iPhoto, iMovie, and just now, Preview, when I get ready to copy or import say my photo files from my iphone, or an SD card or a network drive, it never gives me the option to navigate to my folder! How mad is this?! Instead I get teh choice of just Apples plain old Documents or Pictures folders but NEVER get given any opportunity via the dialog box to navigate to my "Holiday 2012" folder. There just is not any obvious way to do it. So instead I get my hundreds of pictures listed directly under Pictures folder, to therefore added to all the other hundreds of pictures listed there. A terrible way to kep pictures.
What I need: someone to tell me how to do this or if its not possible then to tell me that. It is a basic operation that I have been able to do on Windows PC's since they were built. Wht not on Mac? Maybe the solution is right in front of me... if it is then its not intuitive, thats all I can say!
    Can you help please?

    Hi. Ok.
I have just tried the process again in Preview and in desperation this time clicked on 'Other' in the dialogue box when trying to Import. Low and behold I found the way to navigate to my own folders instead of being forced to use Apples standard Folders called Documents and Pictures.
    So problem solved.
Its daft that you cant click on the first folder names listed like you can in Windows so you can then reveal the  subfolders. I guess its just another Apple-ism. Too bad it took me three years to find it but then I suppose I gave up early.

  • FW HTML not importing correctly into DW

    Hello,
I have made a navbar in FW and exported it following some tutorials I've watched.  I have imported it into some of the pages on my site in DW and the import works fine.  However, on a number of other pages, I insert my cursor in the "topnav" div and when I import it, the table goes straight to the top of the code and when I refresh the CSS, all my styles from before disappear and becomes a blank white page.  I think it may have something to do with my stylesheet because the other pages that it does work properly on is a different stylesheet, but I cannot figure out where the issue is.
I have attached code below.  The first section is what it looks like when I try to import the navbar into the topnav div.  The second section is the code for the stylesheet that goes along with it.  And third, is the CSS code for the one that works correctly.
I appreciate any help given.  Thanks!

With this problem, it would be better to give us a link to an online web page. It's easier to spot the problem than to wade through a lot of code and you would have better success in getting others in the forum to help.
One problem that sticks out is that you imported the code generated by FW into the head section of your document. It should be in the body section. That problem should be obvious to you if you know a little about markup and can recognize javascript. I mention this because if you don't know what you're doing, then importing FW images and code into DW can be very confusing. It might be easier for you to work on the Dreamweaver side and find a good tutorial about building a menu in DW. Most web designers will tell you that it's not a good idea to use code generated by Fireworks although it can work.
Let me make two points. First, if some of your pages are working okay (you said the import worked for some pages), then use a page that is working to override a page that is not working by doing a Save As and then do a little editing if necessary.
Second, if your styles are not working in your page, you probably have a link problem. In the markup you provided, I don't see a link to your css stylesheet on your web page. But, again, if you do a Save As using a page that works, this problem should be solved by acting on the advice of the first point.

  • Importing clips and rotating video

    Please help:
I am unable to import clips into my iMovie 6. I've used Photoshop and Graphic Converter to convert pics to JPEG(jpg). When they are imported they show up as nothing but a white blank with the titles below. Any suggestions? Should I use a different format or simply re-name the clip?
Additionally, I do not know how to rotate a video clip that was imported into iMovie to a correct orientation. What process do I follow to rotate the video clip clockwise or counterclock wise?
This is most frustrating and any help and guidance would be much appreciated.

Well, it's easy. DVCAM, DVCPRO, mini dv video is on tape at NTSC 29.97 fps, no variances. So, your 35 mm film was telecined, a pulldown was added. Did you contact your lab about the telecine procedure?
There is no regular 24fps mode on the DVX. There is 24p and 24pa and these refer to progressive video shot at 23.976 fps with different pulldown cadences added to bring the video to NTSC 29.97 fps.
You need to select which timebase you want to edit in and then either leave the pulldown intact or process the video in Cinema tools to strip it.
There's a ton of info on this board about this issue as well as in the manual and on the web. Here's a good start http://www.adamwilt.com/24p/index.html
