Importing compilation CD settings

Can somebody help me with the following?
When you import compilation CDs iTunes import the disc automatically in a compilation folder on your hard disc. Is there a possibility in choosing that folder name yourself? I have installed version 9 of the program and now the program uses the "compilations" folder where it used the Dutch version "verzamelingen" earlier. I have 2 different folders now. Btw the language is kept in dutch.

select your song, right-click on them and select "get info" from the dropdown list.
if your compilation is also about a specific artist, you can also add it as "album artist".

I'm trying to repack Firefox 3.6.3 into a MSI for a deployment install trough-out our organization. Since we're using Explorer as the default browser at the moment our users have all their bookmarks and such stored in Explorer. Now I'm wondering..
Is there a way of getting Firefox to automaticly import the Explorer settings upon install?
-Without having the wizard popup.
I also don't want Firefox to be the default browser since the users have to decide for them self. But atleast they have there bookmarks / defaultpage and proxy settings if they decide to go for Firefox.

I'm not sure if you have the capability, but did you try copying from your premiere sequence and then pasting into your after fx timeline? i was working with a MUCH shorter video with a mix of merged clips (interview footage) and video clips (b-roll). the video clips imported, but the merged clips did not. i put the timeline cursor to the right point in the after fx timeline, copied the premiere clip from the sequence, pasted it into after fx.

The only other place to change a password for the computer login is in Users & Groups preferences. But I don't really know enough here to fix your problem. You can try fixing the keychain:

If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:

Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.

Where can I save all the different import and export settings? Like if I just want to export Quicktime with audio and save that setting so I don't have to reset it every time. Thanks

I don't think you can in QT... You can in FCP by selecting CUSTOM as your setting when exporting to QT. Just rename the settings from custom to what you'd like it to be.

Is it possible to import AI CS5 settings into AI CC 17?

I would like to use Illustrator CC 17's import feature to bring in my CS5 settings but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know if it's possible?

Exporting/Importing customized rack settings' values - Soundbooth

Has anyone ever found a way to export your customized Soundbooth rack settings, like in the case where you'd be uninstalling Soundbooth from one machine to install it on another machine? Has anyone come across a way to export and then import your rack settings' values?
I tried one Adobe Tech Support rep's direction which was, "... copy the same folder [C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Soundbooth CS5 folder] of the old setting and paste into the same settings. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Soundbooth CS5 folder". That resulted in a error on launch of Soundbooth, preventing Soundbooth from opening at all following the folder copy-over.
So has anyone had any better success externally saving your custom rack settings and then importing them to another instance of Soundbooth?

Creating smart collections using Import Smart Collection settings

Does anybody know if I can create smart collections using Import Smart collection settings? Where can I find any information on this other than Photo collections? In particular, I am interested in what to do with the ID.

I'll try to explain the best I can. I am trying to improve my workflow.
I have been a little lazy with my workflow, I don't rate by images for 2 reasons: 1) I haven't found a rating system I am comfortable with (we might have discussed this on another thread), and 2) I am not very good at critically assessing my own photo graphic work. This means I have very often jumped to the develop module to adjust an image without ever bother to rate them (almost 20% of my catalog).
I have also rated some images and never touched them.
So I have a need to find images I have rated and adjusted, images I have rated and not adjusted, and images I have adjusted and not rated.
Now, my photographers vision and knowledge have both changed substantially over the past 5 years. So to make the task more manageable I am trying to divide my catalog into 3 collections per year:
1 - Rated and adjusted
2 - Rated and not adjusted
3 - Adjusted and not rated
The assumption is that this is the bit of the catalog worth looking at and re-organise first. I know that anything I edited last year would have been more proficiently edited that anything I edited in 2010.
Does it make some sense?

Premiere Pro didn't offer to import my previous settings

When i ran Photoshop CC for the first time it offered to import my previous settings, with Premiere CC it did not. Is this by default or an error i found?

Default, I believe. PP has never asked that. The closest I've ever seen is the Import Workspace from Projects option.
Having said that, there is a new Sync feature which will allow you to store your settings in the cloud and import them to any copy of PP you happen to be working on. I like this, as I often have to edit on my producer's laptop, and he doesn't have the same settings I do.

Install FEBE from Add Ons in FF on old computer. Back up entire profile. Also install FEBE in FF on new computer. Copy FEBE backup folder to new computer. "Restore" from FEBE. All of your settings, including cookies, passwords, etc. will be "restored." Note that on the new computer, you'll need to create two profiles: the default one you'll use on a regular basis and one to use for the restore.

Does importing MAX config settings file replace or append the existing MAX entries?

Does importing a .nce file into max replace the existing config of max with the imported config, or does importing add the new MAX items to the existing MAX items (so that both the "old" and "newly imported" config can be used.

Either or both! (sometimes neither)
in the import wizard you can select which items to import and what to do about items that conflict or exist with different information. (NI really did a nice job - for NI devices!) for some things (like Pickering VXI devices) you can't import the MAX settings.

First try using Spotlight Search to find Settings. If that works go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Settings. If you can't get to Settings:
Try a reset:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work do a restore from backup or to factory settings:

Quick Question,
How do I import my gradient map settings from CS3 on my old I mac into my new Mac that uses CS6? Is there a folder somewhere that I can just copy and paste?

Start Adobe Photoshop CS3 and open an image from your files to which you want to apply a gradient map.

Select the "Image" menu, point to "Adjustments" and click on "Gradient Map" to open the "Gradient Map" dialog box.

Choose the gradient you want to use for the gradient map by clicking on the "Gradient Picker" drop-down box. Click on the gradient preset you want to use for the gradient mapping. You will see that in the background the gradient has been applied to your open image.

Click on the gradient fill that you have chosen to open the "Gradient Editor" if you want to edit the gradient preset. Make any changes in this dialog box and click the "OK" button to close the box and return to your gradient map.

Set any final options to apply to your gradient map. Check "Dither" under "Gradient Options" to add noise to smooth the bands of your gradient and/or "Reverse" to switch the direction of the gradient map.

Use the "OK" button to close the "Gradient Map" dialog box and return your image to which the gradient map is now applied.

I had to open Firefox 18 in Safe Mode then I tried resetting it. It automatically backed up my old settings. Now I would like to reinstall them but I can't find anything that says "import". HELP!!!

Importing Compilation Albums

I am having trouble getting compilation albums to be imported and tracks listed together as one album. I have ticked the group compilations when browsing box in the preferences section but it still lists all tracks separately. Please help.

I've got the same problem. Its because the albums are listed by artist first. If you change the artist to various (use File_Get Info) it will group them together. Not a great solution though. My version of itunes also has a field called "Album Artist" which should help but I can't get it to make any difference.

LR4.3, Import D700 .NEF, settings don't match Nikon Transfer

Hello, I'm trying to use Lightroom for the first time. I've always used Nikon Transfer / View to import images from the camera and was trying to import my pictures into LR4. I've tried several methods to import: 1). download to computer with Nikon Transfer then import into LR4, 2). download to computer using windows then import, 3). download / import directly into LR4. The results all seem to be the same. The problem that I'm seeing is that if I look at the picture (on the same monitor) with Nikon View vs. LR4 there is both a difference on exposure and color balance. The color is most stricking. The Basic settings panel shows that even though I took the picture using daylight white balance (which for the D700 should be 5200K - I've confirmed I don't have any offsets / custom white balance settings), LR4 is reading 5000K and a Tint of -6. Any idea of getting the correct readings in LR4 here?

Those are processing versions, which affect rendering detail and image quality, but don't much affect intrinsic coloration.

Active D Lighting effect is baked into the in-camera jpeg/preview, but not the raw data. PS - Lightroom doesn't try to emulate ADL or other such settings...
