Importing contacts to the iPhone from SIM

I know on the iPhone user manual, it says to import by going to Settings then to Mail, Contacts, Calendar or something like that. But when I go to settings, there is not that option. It has a separate section for Phone and Mail and there is no calendar. Could someone please tell me how to get contacts from my SIM with this version of the iPhone?

Go to Settings then Mail, contacts, Calendar. Scroll down until you reach the Contacts section, you will then see an option to 'Import SIM Contacts'.

  • Does anyone know how to upload email contacts on my iPhone from iTunes without loosing the phone contacts previously transfered from my older phone??

Does anyone know how to upload email contacts on my iPhone from iTunes without loosing the phone contacts previously transfered from my older phone??

    Good Afternoon irish357,
I know the importance of saving and updating your contacts. What type of phone do you have? If you are using Backup Assistant, you have the ability to sync the contacts between your laptop and phone. You will also be able to see if all your contacts are stored on the online portion of the application versus the phone itself. The contacts should be the same for both online and the phone.
I have attached a link below for your reference.

  • How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

  • I'm trying to import contacts to outlook 2011 from a cvs file.  I've followed all the steps, mapped the fields, clicked import -- it shows that it imported my 900 contacts --- but the contact field remains blank and I can't see any information.  Help?

I'm trying to import contacts to outlook 2011 from a cvs file.  I've followed all the steps, mapped the fields, etc.  It appears to import all 900 contacts, but after finishing nothing appears in my contact list.  Any ideas on why this is not working?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • I am trying to transfer my contacts to my iphone from a Casio G'zOne phone but I keep getting Connection Unsuccessful. How do I transfer the contacts?

I am new to Apple products and I am trying to transfer my contacts to my iphone from a Casio G'zOne phone but I keep getting Connection Unsuccessful. How do I transfer the contacts?

How are you trying to transfer them? Via Bluetooth? If so, that will not work.
You need to get the contacts from the Casio phone into a supported contact manager on your computer (Address Book/Contacts on a Mac or Outlook on a PC) then sync them to the iPhone via iTunes or iCloud.

  • How do i sync contacts on two iphones from the same computer without merging the contacts

I called tech support and they suggested I set up a separate user account on my computer and that should create a new windows contact file (which it did).  When I sync the iphone from the new user account, it seems to still be syncing to the windows contacts folder in the main administrator account and not the newly created account.  iIconfirmed this because i deleted one contact from the iphone and one contact from the new windows contact folder.  I then did a sync and no changes occurred on phone or the windows contact folder in teh new user account.  I then went to the original user account and teh name I deleted from teh iphone was deleted from that windows folder.  I am not able to select any different folder to sync contacts with in the itunes "info" tab. Do I need to set up under a completely different computer?

I called support and they helped me realize the " sync contacts with windows contacts" was unchecked (maybe I didn't click sync or apply when I first checked it?).  He helped me clean up some unnecessary contacts by clicking the contacts box in the advance tab and removing names directly from the windows contacts folder before syncing.

  • Contact old iPhone user to get them to remove the iPhone from their account.

I am very frustrated. This isn't a question for say, but venting about my anger towards Apple. I bought by phone from a 3rd party who bought the same phone from another person on eBay. The iPhone was water damaged. I have a background in Radio Repair, so I fix phones on the side. Not really for profit, but as a hobby. I am now stuck with a working phone that has the stupid iCloud activation notice. I don't understand why apple can't either give you the e-mail of the person, or since that might be considered  a security breach for some reason, email the previous user for us requesting they remove the unused phone from their account. Or is it apple trying to make more money, forcing me to buy a new iPhone.
    I have two iPhone 4 that I use, and I wanted an iPhone 5. Well now I have a iPhone 5 that's a paperweight.
btw. the previous owner never used facetime, so that trick is out !!!!
It would be cool if an option on the activation help could automaticly have the option to contact the previous owner on our behalf, and give them the instructions to remove the phone from their account. Or given them a chance to respond back if the phone was lost or stolen.

You are raising a number of issues, all of which limit Apple due to abiding by privacy and security.  We are all fellow users and not Apple employees so cannot speak for Apple, but describe what we understand to be the conditions.
Release of personal information, inclucing email, simply cannot ever happen for privacy concerns.  Plus uncertainty over just who the current owner of a device might be and how that device has been setup.  You could end up going in bigger circles as you indicate more than one previous owner of the iPhone.
The Activation Lock is an anti-theft protection that Apple has been praised by law enforcement for implementing.  While it is an inconvenience for reselling some devices when previous owners do not properly cleanse their devices, there have been numerous cases brought up on here that are pretty conclusively dealing with stolen iOS devices.
All that can be done is somehow contact the previous owner and have that person remove the iPhone from his/her iCloud account so you can use it, as you have acknowledged.  Apple cannot get involved for legal reasons.

  • What is the best way to move Contacts onto the iPhone?

    Hi Guys,
I currently have Nokia N82, usually when i get a new Nokia (since am a TOO loyal customer) i just take a backup from the previous one and add it to the new one when i get! i hate copying to/from SIM...
Now when i want to get the iPhone what is the best way to move the Contacts??
i use a Windows machine, STILL!

For the couple of iPhones I have access to, you've got three methods to get contacts onto the device aside from moving them onto the SIM; I have found that copying to and from SIMs can leave data fields not totally aligned.
    (1) Via a cloud. One uses MobileMe (via iCal/Address Book entries) and the second uses an Exchange-based cloud. Both seem to work pretty well, although I do experience an occasional lag from time to time.
    (2) Via a sync on a desktop. My preferred method. Connecting to iCal/Address Book>iTunes or Outlook 2007>iTunes work very well. My only issue was that Outlook didn't work as I'd expected the first time, just as with a couple of other phones in the past (it never did work with my Motorola Z9); to "fix" the issue, I simply refreshed Outlook's contacts and rebooted Outlook - I actually had to do the same thing with iCal to "blow out the pipes" and both sync conduits work fine now.
    (3) Transfer Contacts to the iPhone via email using a vCard for each contact. I use version 3.0-compatible vCard files generated from Address Book or Entourage (Mac), Outlook or just about what my business contacts generate. Just about every platform has some unique data type, but I haven't received a vCard yet the iPhone can't handle via email.
Getting your Contacts out of the iPhone. Option (1) or (2) - that's it AFAIK. I hope this helps you out!

  • ITunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because an error occurred

When I connect my iPhone to my iMac (OSX version 10.6.6), and open iTunes and select "sync" - everything syncs (my Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, books, Photos and Calendars). However, I get an error message popping up saying: "iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because an error occurred while merging data".
I have unchecked the contacts button in iTunes and then sync works fine.
I have deleted all my contact in my Address Book on my iMac and tried to sync. Again, same error message as above.
I have not tried to restore the iPhone as I am worried to loose my contacts saved on my iPhone.
Who know how to solve this problem? Thanks

    Hi Charlotte
I had the same problem for one year now and it affected my contacts, then later my calendar.
I followed the Apple troubleshooting guides and finally managed to make it work again.
    First try the following guide:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting contact and calendar syncing via USB on Window
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1692
For me I noticed that after I updated ITunes to latest version (using the full uninstall from the last point of the guide above, section "Reinstall Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes"), I could sync with another Windows user account (on another computer actually)
Since I wanted my own account to sync again, I then used the advanced troubleshooting guide:
Advanced troubleshooting for Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2776
In my case the point 4 in this guide helped, but since I had no MobileMe, I just killed the OS process SyncServer.exe, then renamed the SyncServices folder to SyncServices.old and restarted the PC.
You should try all the steps in both guides in the order mentioned, to see which one can help, I don't advise you to start directly with a step in a guide
    Good luck

  • I recently switched to a galaxy s4 and im still getting messages on the iphone from people with imessenger I wanna stop this I just want to have the phone as an ipod now please help

    Please help

Go to the iPhone, and go to Settings > Messages.
    Sign out of iMessage.
You can also go to www.icloud.com and remove the iPhone from your iCloud account.
Or, you can contact Apple support and have them assist you with removing the phone number from being associated to your Apple ID.
Or, go to appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and/or password to your Apple ID.

  • My iMac cancels all contacts on the iPhone while synchronizing!

i have a problem with my imac and my iphone.
As i had a macbook before, i transmitted all datas from it to my new imac. Apperently a contact/ ical "bug"
i never realized, that my posts from the calender never synchronized to the macbook. now at the imac i have the same problem AND that it deletes my contacts. i unticked the possibilty to replace all contacts on the iphone. so that can't be the problem.

... The only way I can think of doing it otherwise is possibly by syncing via iTunes via another Mac OS X user account where the address book is empty and then deleting them there and resyncing. ...
Brilliant! That worked like a charm.
I created a new User Account on one of my Macs and logged into it. I connected my iPhone to its iTunes and checked my iPhone's Sync Contacts option in iTunes. Since that account's address book was basically empty (two dummy contacts, one for Apple and one for this new user), I ended up with only those two Contacts on the phone. Then, going back to my real User account (which does not have syncing turned on in iTunes) the phone synced nicely with the MobileMe account and populated the phone with all the MobileMe contacts and groups.

  • ITunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because the sync server...

has anyone else gotten this message? and if so, what's the fix. i've talked to a "level 2" tech at apple and he had no clue.
"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because the sync server failed to sync the iphone"
this happens if i have contacts checked to sync. it synced fine on 6/30 but have been getting this problem today 7/1.

I'm having this same problem and I've tried all the other fixes in this forum, except yours. Could you please be more specific? My question is below:
1.) erased the iPhone via iPhone settings. --> where is "iPhone settings"?
2.) deleted my pda from iSync
3.) plugged in the iPhone and restored it via iTunes
4.) resynced and everything is back to normal.

  • Are Apple stores (not online) selling the iphone 4 SIM free?

    hi,
i read in several places that buying the iphone 4 from the apple online store will get u a SIM free version. i wanted to know if you go to the Apple store, can we still get the iphone 4 SIM free straight from the store. Or is getting the iphone from the online store the only way to get it sim free?
Please provide any info you might have
    thanks

Theoretically, yes, you should be able to walk into an Apple store and purchase a sim free iPhone.
However, if you were thinking of doing this on 24th, then I would not bother, unless you have either pre-ordered or reserved for in store pick up. You probably will not get one on launch day, unless you are prepared to go and camp outside your local Apple store from perhaps midnight on Wednesday, or 3 or 4am on Thursday.
I am sure there will be lots of disappointed people on launch day who come away without a phone. Unless you have reserved, then I would wait or go and order directly from the Apple UK store and you will get it delivered by July 14th then.

  • Itunes could not sync contacts to the iphone

I have just moved my iPhone 3G to a new notebook Windows 7 Outlook 2010. Can't synch my contacts through iTunes from Outlook (8149 of them), receive error = itunes could not sync contacts to the iphone because an error occurred remapping record identifiers. Everything else syncs fine. All used to sync under XP Pro Outlook 2003. I see many posts and have tried almost all of the solutions offered. Apple please help us get back to being productive, not troubleshooting our devices. Any advice from others is MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Restored iPhone; reset sync, cleared the sync option for contacts, confirmed removal of all records on iPhone, disconnected and closed iTunes - tried this many times; restored all library files from old computer, cleared ALL records, reset sync, disconnected and closed iTunes, then synced again; tried process again after de-selecting option for calendars, email, notes, etc. as well as contacts; placed a single contact record on the iPhone, then tried syncing, next de-selected the option to sync contacts, accepted the removal of that (all) contacrt records from the iPhone, again set up iTunes to replace all contacts on iPhone. Everything syncs fine execpt for my contacts. I have been trying everything I can think of... about 16 hrs into it so far.
