Importing CS4 .aom -- FLV changes?

I'm getting an error when I'm importing my CS4 output module presets. The FLV configuration panel no longer has "embed alpha channel".  Is this now handled by the AE settings?

Correct.  You no longer need to go into the FLV settings to enable alpha channel for output.  Enabling the RGB+Alpha option in the Output Module settings is now all you need to do.
One of our goals with the changes made to the export settings in After Effects CS5 was to eliminate the redundancy between the After Effects settings and the individual format settings.
One other note about changes to the export settings - when you open a project or .AOM file from After Effects CS4 or earlier, not all formats will come across with their settings intact; there was an incompatibility between the way the data for the settings used to be stored and how it is done in CS5.  Any such output modules will instead default to their previous settings.  I can't remember the exact list of formats, but I believe it includes all of the MPEG-based formats.  QuickTime and AVI should come across OK.  Not sure about FLV but I think it comes through OK.

  • Import YouTube Videos (.flv) - 1 works/1 does not

I was wondering if anyone might be able help me with a curious problem in Premiere Pro CS4 (running on Vista Home Basic).
A client came to me to re-edit and update some old marketing videos they had previously uploaded to youtube. They did not have the source files anymore so I had to work off the youtube flash versions. So I played them in youtube and then copied the .flv files out of my internet cache into my project source folder. When I then tried to import both .flv files into Premiere Pro CS4, one of them imported fine, but the other came up with "The file appears to have no media data" error message, and would not import. Both .flv files play fine in the Adobe Media Player. The same problem occured in After Effects CS4 as only one of the two files would import.
The client's files were quite long but I did find some shorter files that also re-created the problem:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6oIwFGy9JI (4:06)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8ZfZ5eyeIA (3:45)
Both are versions of the same retro music clip. Curiously it is the one that was more recently uploaded to youtube that imports fine. If you allow both videos to fully buffer you will then will be able to copy them out of your internet cache. If you sort by file size the youtube videos should be near the top with a filename something like; "videoplayback?id=4b0...". When you then copy the files somewhere else they will be renamed something like "video[1].flv". Then if you try importing them into Premiere one will work and one will not and come up with the "The file appears to have no media data" error.
I assume that flash videos can use different video codecs but the generic error message puts a stop to my troubleshooting so I was wondering if anyone with more expertise might be able to shed some light on some possible causes of the problem. The fact that I can't get past is that "Adobe Media Player" can play all .flv files fine so why isn't Premiere Pro capable of just using the same codec?
    Thankyou for your consideration,
    Chris

    Thanks Charles (& Charles).
All of your suggested workarounds worked great. I think what worked best for me was adding the "&fmt=18" to the end of the YouTube URL, which plays a .mp4 version of the video instead, and then after copying out of the interent cache and renaming, Premiere imports the video fine no problems.
That site: http://keepvid.com works great if you don't want to clear your internet cache (as finding specific videos can be a little difficult) although you would be effectively downloading the same file twice, once to view it, another to download.
If as you say the file was originally uploaded as a .flv file then those free converters do a great job at converting them to mpeg2's or other formats.
As it turned out, in testing the "Any Video Converter (Free Version)" I think I found the source of the original problem. When I added both of those aforementioned test .flv youtube videos, the "format" column identified the video that did import onto Premiere as "FLV1" format, and the other which did not as "H264". I then tested this with a few other youtube videos and sure enough all of the FLV1s format videos did import into Premiere but all of the H264 .flv videos would not. They all came up with the "The file appears to have no media data" error message.
So for future forum reference the simple definition of the problem appears to be that Premiere Pro CS4 (and After Effects CS4) will not import a flash video (.flv) that uses the H264 format.
Thanks again Charles(s) for all of your suggestions,
    Chris
p.s. During my testing I also tried copying a YouTube HD video (1280x720 .mp4 - Premiere identified it as a XDCAM-EX Movie) out of my cache after playing, and Premiere accepted it no problems

  • Import status- import running does not change during the mass import of TR

    Dear All,
I have successfully imported single requests in my newly installed SAP ECC EHP4 PRD system but when I have tried to import 8 transport requests(Mass Import) then the Import status is not changing from import running (Truck button still appears).
But the effect of the request is seen in the production system but the status does not change.
I have checked the logs and found that all the requests have been imported successfully but the Truck status does not change.
I have restated the system but no use still the same.

  • MS 2.1 'Does not support importing files containing tempo changes' message

OK, so I've just loaded up the 2.1 upgrade and opened up a couple of existing concerts, and I get the following message:
    +File contains tempo changes+
+One or more of the files you are importing contains tempo change markers. This version of mainstage does not support importing files with tempo changes.+
It's a bit of a problem as the dialogue box appears several times during loading, and I have to click 'OK' every time, which adds to the length of time it takes to load up the concert (something I do several times during the course of my set).
I'm not using any MIDI stuff, just acoustic and electric guitar plus vocal channel strips and playback channels.
I've tried out some of my backing tracks, which have a ralletando at the back end, and they still seem to slow down properly (which isn't surprising, as they are audio files), and I've also tried setting all the sets back to the concert tempo, which hasn't stopped the issue occurring.
    Any thoughts, anyone?

    Hi Blueberry
Well, if you mean I put a tempo curve at the end of some of my audio files in Logic, in order to slow down at the end of the song, then, yes, I did do that. However, that still works in MS2.1, and anyway, why would that no longer be allowed, as that is an essential musical function. Also, if the upgrade meant I had to re-do the exporting nearly 200 backing tracks, them I'm afraid it would be back to 2.01 for me.
Furthermore, I tried starting MS up in 32 bit, and that didn't make any difference either.
As it is, this problem is (so far) only an inconvenience as it takes longer for me to load a new concert. What I'd like to understand is what does it refer to? and how can I prevent it showing this message?
    Thanks

  • Why is it impossible to import pics into existing projects in Aperture 3.6 ? It forces me to create a new project on every import. Tried to change that in preferences but no luck.

Why is it impossible to import pics into existing projects in Aperture 3.6 ? It forces me to create a new project on every import.
Tried to change that in preferences but no luck.

It is working for me.  Two ways to import into an existing project:
Select a project and view it in the browser in split view. If you drag image files from a folder directly into the filmstrip, the dragged image files will be added to that project.
Or select a project in the library, before you open the Import panel. Then you can switch the destination project in the Import Settings  from "new Project" to the selected project.
Have you tried these methods? Where does it not work for you?

  • CS4 InDesign Symbol Change?

Why have all my normal paragraph return signs changed to a \r (backslash and an r) ?
I haven't changed anything that I know of? Thank you.
    Mac OS 10.5.8, InDesign 5.0.4

In CS3 and CS4, you can toggle searching using either the old familiar regular text mode or GREP mode. GREP is described as "search and replace on steroids" -- and best left alone, if you have no idea what it is!
See the Help page for normal find-and-change: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/6.0/WS68349BAD-34F4-40e1-AC6C-B8233BEFAC30a.html
This comes up in new documents.
That's really odd. Are you sure it's not already in those documents before you import them?

  • Lightroom 5.6 crashing, not able to import or back up changes

I have been having issues with Lightroom 5.6 for few days now. I have been working from this Lightroom install for a year now problem free. The problem seems to happen when I try to import pictures. At first I thought it was my SD card but I copied the pictures to my desktop and was not able to import from the file on my desktop. It will start to download a few out of 400 and stop at 2 or 3 pictures then freeze. A message pops up that says "Lightroom encountered a problem and needs to quit" When i try to open Lightroom again I will get a message that says "The last time Lightroom ran, it shut down prematurely due to a problem reading the catalog. Lightroom must now check the catalog before proceeding." It will proceed to check integrity of the catalog then another message pops up saying it was repaired successfully. When I try to open, same stuff happens all over again.
I have not moved any files around through the external hard drive and there are no images in the catalog that are "missing." So I'm a little confused as to why Lightroom suddenly keeps crashing.
I am able to export images from the same catalog, I am able to edit pictures as I normally would, but I am unable to Back up the changes or import new files. I tried working from a different external hard drive and the same thing happens.
    Please help!!

Are you able to import 450D raw files into LR5.5via USB connection and are you on Windows 7/8?
I agree with your observations concerning SD vs CF card fragility, but they also have a limited number of insertions before failure.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Durability
The newer Micro-USB receptacles are designed for up to 10,000 cycles of insertion and removal between the receptacle and plug, compared to 1,500 for the standard USB and 5,000 for the Mini-USB receptacle. This is accomplished by adding a locking device and by moving the leaf-spring connector from the jack to the plug, so that the most-stressed part is on the cable side of the connection. This change was made so that the connector on the less expensive cable would bear the most wear instead of the more expensive micro-USB device.
All my Canon cameras have micro-USB connectors. With one (1) insertion and removal per day that equals 10,000 days, or about 27 years before end-of-life! SD and CF cards are also rated at ~10,000 insertion and removals, but more prone to damage from static electricity and handling due to the exposed contacts and fragility of CF card sockets.
So there's no real advantage from the camera wear perspective to using a card reader. I'd say use whatever method is easiest for your workflow, but handle memory cards with care and avoid exposing them to static discharge.  Ground yourself to something metal before removing memory cards and inserting them into the card reader, especially in cold Winter months.
BTW- I helped design one of the first semiconductor DRAM memory systems back in 1970. We killed more memory chips than I care to count before we discovered they were easily damaged by static electricity. Today's ICs have built-in protection, but you can still damage them with a big enough static ZAP!

  • Why cant I import M4V or FLV files into my I-Movie video? Please HELP!

I just got the new Mac Desktop and REALLY hate that I cant drap and drop videos into the newer (i-Life11) -Imovie like I was used to since 2010. Seems to only work for photos. Is there a way around that?
So I am making a church youth group video where I have spent HOURS trying to get parts of Youtube videos into the video to show them.  I have 2 forms saved on my desktop thanks to the software -   i have a FLV video and a M4V - both converted.  The Imovie already has plenty of clips that are M4V in them so I know it will take that form.  It just wont let me import them..they are there but are not accesible (they are 'faded') under the File/Import/Movies/Desktop  or File/Movies/RealPlayerDownloads.  They aren't darkened and  and I cant do anything with them.
    What am I doing wrong?
    HELP please.   Thanks for input.
Frustrated volunteer who has spent too many hours on this!!!

Use MPEG Streamclip to convert them to DV. In the case of the FLV file, this requires installing Perian.

  • Photoshop CS4-Outer glow changes specs (spread, size etc) when dragged into another ps file of similar size

Hello. I'm trying to add an outer glow to multiple photoshop images that have (at least one) of the same file dimensions as the original photoshop file. I'm doing this by dragging/dropping the original file's outer glow into the new files. But the size/spread/etc. of the outer glow changes once in the new file. Trying to automate this process and have to redesign the drop shadow for every batch of images I get. Anyone have any advice on why this is occurring? Or any advice on how to automate if this method does not work? I'm trying to keep the look of the outer glow consistent with every new batch. Thanks for looking! Yea, I know, still working in CS4 unfortunately.

    Try resetting the printer subsystem.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 converted FLV files have sound but no picture

    Hi,
It would be great if anyone can help - I am using the latest trial version of Flash CS4. I have used the Media Encoder to convert mpg4 files to FLV however the resultant files play with sound but no picture - just a black screen. Is there a solution to this issue?

mostly this problem is caused by lacking of
some nessery codec. Which means when reencoding your video to flv, it can not generate the video.
Does Riva FLV encoder needs any extra codec? I am using Moyea Flash Video MX 6. It do not need any extra code. It needs in the former versions but in version 6 it can convert nearly any video format now.

  • InDesign CS4: File names change to string of numbers

Occasionally, one of our users will save an InDesign CS4 file, only to have the file name change.  For example, a file originally named "#kwn25501.bcbsNM.indd" was saved as "#kwn25501.bc157-1223857848."
If the user is not aware that this has happened, things can go horribly, terribly wrong in our production environment. The "numbered" file may be missing key elements, or be somehow be corrupt in some fashion. In one case, this led us to having to reprint a job because the "numbered" file was missing a photo; somehow, that file was used (and perhaps renamed after the fact) to create the final output.
We use Macs running InDesign CS4 6.0.5. Some of our Macs are running Tiger 10.4.11, while others are running Leopard 10.5.8. The problem seems to related to the Leopard machines, although that is not 100 percent certain at this point. All of these Macs are bound to Active Directory and save files to a Windows 2003 server. I know Adobe recommends against working on files over a network, but perhaps there is an explanation for this file renaming aside from network issues.
Any light that can be shed on this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Kevin Stauffer

Check to see if maybe your original filename is the problem.
You may need that particular name for a workflow reason, but some of the symbols in the middle of your filename are generally not a good idea. Especially working off of a server, file names should be ONLY alpha-numeric characters, no symbols, no periods (except for the file type) and only underscores or dashes to separate words, no spaces.
The reason is some of those symbols get picked up as machine language and all sorts of bad can happen as a result.

  • Importing data for tuple changes the order from source file - please help

    Hi all:
I am using MDM 7.1 with the new tuple functionality. I have to import some product texts in a specific order. Tuples is working fine, the only issue is that it changes the order of the rows when importing from Excel.  Let's say I have product number
    A123, Text 1
    A123, Text 2
    A123, Text 3
When importing in MDM I get:
    A123, Text 2
    A123, text 3
    A123, Text 1
It is changing the order in which records are from source Excel file. Any ideas on how to force it to import in the same order as source file?
    Thanks,
