Importing cubase into logic

I have just been given a rough mix of a few tracks by a friend to have a look at. They are all Cubase SX 4 files. I have heard there is a easier way to convert the session into an alternative DAW, in this example Logic. I was asking if anyone knew much about this.

Yes.Your friends should export the file to .OMF,then you can import into any DAW.

  • Import Movie into Logic

    Hi,
I gonna import movie into Logic to b my lip sync and overdub purpose..but i found that it only allow 1 clip to be import,am i right?
How to import more than 1 clip?2..3...clips..
    thanks

The only problem with combining two separate movies is this: if each is striped with timecode, there's very little chance that the timecode will be contiguous as a result. So assuming you're working to t/c, you'll be able to get the first part of the movie to agree with Logic's t/c counter, but not the second (added) part. This may or may not be a problem, but I can't imagine working without t/c that's in agreement all across the board.
The second thing... AFAIK, iMovie works best if the native format of the video is DV. If it's any other format it will mess up the picture big time. QTPro is, IMO, the preferred way to go, and what I continue to use.
However, I do use iMovie to create titles for each clip I send a director (for evaluation, comments, etc.). I write up info re the name of the movie/date/cue#/revision notes, etc. export this as a QT movie itself, and tag it to the beginning of the actual movie before sending it off.

  • Can't import loops into LPX that import fine into Logic 9

    Hi all,
I'm new to posting to the forum but have learned a great deal from browsing it over the last few years. I've got a question that I've scanned the forum for but can't seem to find an answer to. My problem is this: I've got loops that will import fine into the loop library in Logic 9 but absolutely will not show up in Logic Pro X (10.0.4). I'm running OSX 10.6.8 on a late 2013 MBP (15", 16GB RAM, 512SSD).
These are loop collections that I've purchased from a couple of different reputable companies. Some are in .wav format, others .aiff. I've tried reindexing the loop library, editing the loops individually and as a group in ALU to make sure that they're listed as loops and have the proper collection and naming parameters (all do), etc... Nothing seems to be working. I just drag and drop the folder in LP9 and it works great, but when I try to do the same in LPX, nothing happens.
I'm running my loops through an external harddrive (with an alias on a local folder pointing to the external hard drive), but even when I try to store loops locally it doesn't make a difference.
Does anyone have any ideas/tips? Has anyone else heard of anything like this? For what it's worth, I have just shy of 40,000 loops in LPX (and nearly 50,000 in LP9)... not sure if there's a limit, but it wouldn't make sense that a previous version would allow more loops.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Logic Pro X is not compatible with 10.6.8 so how did you download/install it?
LPX requires a minimum of 10.8.4 to download/install correctly.....
This may be the cause of your issue......

  • Importing AAF into Logic 9.1.2 NOT WORKING

There seems to be an issue with importing AAF's made with Pro Tools HD into logic 9.1.2.
Here is what happens - when i import the AAF with 9.1.2, it places all the audio tracks at the end of the timeline, and in a weird way will not display the waveform even though the calculating waveform window shows processing. It also does not play the audio and instead gives me a -39 error on playback.....
My only fix was to load the same AAF in Logic 9.0.0, save project, then load up in 9.1.2....

One for the App Store forum I would think.

  • How to import mp3 into Logic 7.2.1 ?

How to import mp3 files into Logic 7.2.1, without converting the file?
I have tried to make an mp3 with logic 7.2.1 and then improt it into logic again, and it still converts the **** file.
    Help needed here.
I thought importing mp3 files in Logic 7.2.1. without converting, was one of the new features???????

Logic imports mp4's (ACC and Apple Lossless Files) directly, without the need to convert to AIFF.
But some Mp3's will still need to be converted. It's all in the manuals... page 29 of the "what's New In Logic 7" PDF, as well as here:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/LogicPro_7.2_lbnz.pdf
The file size remains the same though, so I'm not sure I understand what the issue is...

  • Import icons into Logic Pro

How can I import icons into LogicPro for Track headers?

    CRB wrote:
How can I import icons into LogicPro for Track headers?
    According the manual:
Click an existing track icon in the Track Parameter box, and choose the icon you want from the grid.
You can create your own icons for tracks. User-created icons are saved in the following
    folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Images/Icons.
These icons must have the following attributes:
    • 128 x 128 pixels in size
    • An alpha channel for transparency
    • Must be saved in the portable network graphics format (with the .png suffix)
    • Must be given a filename that starts with a three-digit number
Note: If this number is identical to the number of one of the built-in Logic Pro icons, the
icon found in the user folder is given priority.
You also have the option of directly replacing the built-in Logic Pro icons, which are found
in the /Contents/Resources/Images folder in the Logic Pro package.

  • How to import East West Library into Logic

I bought the East West Quantum Leap Symphony Orchestra library and wondering if anyone can tell me how to import it into Logic 9, please help! Thank you!

Hey Mike sorry its just a matter of habit that i say VST, it is the AU version and I am running and Logic 9.1.5 in 32 Bit mode... i think there is something wrong with the auvaltool as it keeps crashing... currently on the phone to apple support atm so will post back here if and when i get the fix for it... Cheers for the help ... Ps EW tech support just told me to uninstall then re-install, as if i hadn't tried that a few times and it still didn't install... so have reverted back to Play version 2 for EW off my Start-up HD so at least i can use them as stand alone device... Thanx again

  • Pitch lowers on WAV files imported into Logic.

I'm working on a remix project for a friend, and every time I import a WAV file into Logic, the pitch lowers by about 10 percent. I checked the actual WAV itself by playing it through quicktime and itunes, and it's fine. It's only once I import it into Logic that I have issues. An ideas? ThankS!

    Hi,
guess the imported Files are sampled with 48 kHz, while you are trying to import into a 44.1 kHz Project. Set the project sample rate to 48 kHz or convert the files down to 44.1 before importing

  • ADAT into Logic Express, VERY low signals recorded

I tried Garageband, same problem, so now I am trying Logic Express.
When transferring tracks from an ADAT, through Alesis io/14, into Logic, the resulting sound files captured are VERY low signal. This should be a digitally ACCURATE TRANSFER. The Alesis montoring software on the mac senses the correct signal, the signal meters show correct levels (and sounds great), but Logic hears and records very low signals.
I note the Sound midi pref window only shows 6 channel 32 bit. It won't allow me to change to 8 channel 16 bit. Possible problem or am I chasing ghosts? I exhausted all my ideas.
    Any thoughts?

Discovering I was unable to import a ".au" file into Logic Express (or Garage Band) I read it into Sound Studio and exported it in a variety of formats. I can now successfully drag to Garage Band files in formats .aif .aifc .sd2 and .wav and get the expected result.
Unfortunately however, I only get the expected result importing these into Logic Express for the .aifc format which plays back at the expected speed with a low-pitched sound (but which doesn't display an uncompressed waveform). Importing the .aif .sd2 or .wav format files however results in the imported file being squeezed into a very short duration with a correspondingly undesirable very high pitch.
Is there some setting or magic incantation I need for reading in audio files to Logic Express without it getting squeezed?
    Thanks!
    --Roph
Yes. you need to ascend to level 5 before we give that secret incantation.
Really, you need to use a third party converter software, if you are going to use .au files.
Logic is happiest with .aiff, .wav files, but not much else.

  • Exporting yamaha qy100 data into logic

I used have a old yamaha qy100 before i got into soft-sequencers (haven't looked back ) and have just found a load of my old memory cards with some sequences on them, does anyone know how to convert them into standard midi so i can import them into logic? they are **.q1p files.
any help would be most appreciated!
    Dual G5 2.0 Ghz Powermac, 5.5gig ram. Duo core 2 2.16Ghz Macbook, 1 Gig ram.   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

It sounds like it's a proprietry file format - you'll need a QY100 to open them, sync it with Logic, and record the sequence data into Logic, unless there are any Yamaha utility programs that will convert the files directly - check out the legacy support sections on the various Yamaha sites.

  • Adobe Audition Into Logic Pro 7?

Do you know if there is a way to import adobe audition 2.0 files into Logic Pro 7? The reason I ask is beacsue someone wants me to work on a project for them and they recorded all their tracks for 5 songs in AA 2.0. I know garage band imports fine into Logic, but what about AA 2.0?
    Any plugins out there?

Nope... beyond Adobe and Apple not exactly being best buds... Audition is a PC only application (for now...Mac release slated for 07).

  • I am trying to import standard midi file that I created in Band in a Box into Logic Pro 9.  I can not get all the track to play with internal instrument sounds... only the piano track.  how can I get the others to play... drums, bass etc????   Help

I am trying to import standard midi file that I created in Band in a Box into Logic Pro 9.  I can not get all the track to play with internal instrument sounds... only the piano track.  how can I get the others to play... drums, bass etc????   Help

Don't drag the midi into an open Logic project. The tracks won't set up correctly.
'Open' the midi file with Logic as if it were a Logic project. Then all the tracks will be set up so you can start editing them and applying better saved sounds and instruments, but you'll be at a starting place where you can hear what's going on.
