Importing DV Problem!....why can't it import as 1 DV file??????HELP PLEASE!

Hi all,been working with imovie 08 with mpeg4 files...alls working ok....
Now have just tried importing (capturing footage from my Dv camara Canon MVX35i..with the firewire...it works...imports to my imac,but
it doesn't import to just 1 dv file!!!!for about an hours footage its saved it to about 30 split up files!!!!!...basically every 2 minutes!!!..i just want 1 file!!!not bloody hundreds!!!and when dropped in the timeline and has gaps!!!!NO GOOD!
I'm currently trying capture sd software and it works ok with that ,but is trial and i want to use 08..
Anyone else had this prob..

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. What system and iPhoto version are you running and do you have Qjuicktime Player 7 installed. It would be in the Applications or Applications/Utilities folder.

Why can't JavaFx media player play .m4a file on windows xp sp3? I got an exception that 'Decoder is not available' when I played m4a file on windows xp sp3(it didn't work on vista either), but it works fine on windows 7 , so I guess Javafx media player needs some system dependencies or resources when it plays media files, do you have any suggestions for this ?

To allow playback on Windows XP, you need to install the correct software in addition to JavaFX.
Once the system has been upgraded to meet the minimum requirements for playback of a particular type of video encoding, then playback should work fine.

Note, m4a is just a container file and data streams inside the container format need to match a supported JavaFX format for playback to work:

Some approaches you could take:
- additionally encode the media in VP6 format and fallback to VP6 playback if H.264 playback fails.
- use a 3rd party player like VLC.
- don't bother supporting Windows XP video playback.
- direct a browser to a divx install page if playback fails (http://www.divx.com/).

I seem to be having the same problem on my Windows 8 laptop... I am able to update my iPod Nano through iTunes but my iPhone is not recognized as a device in iTunes. I think Gift Cards found in iTunes can help you. You can give her a Gift Card as the same value as the app and then she can buy by herself.

I have just started working on a project in Final Cut Express - I render, save, and close out of FCE - but, when I go back to FCE, the project I was working on does not open.
Why can't I open a project file that I have saved?
Here was my process in a nutshell:
~ When I opened FCE, I went the System Preferences and set the Scratch Disks to a folder on my external hard drive.
~Then, I went to File - New Project - worked on the project for a while (including creating bins, importing images and video, and creating a sequence.
~I saved the project file to the same folder that I set my Scratch Disks to.
as often throughout this process.)
~When I was done, I saved again andd closed FCE.
~Then, soon after, I opened FCE again and my project did not open automatically.
~So, I clicked File - Open Recent - browsed to and chose the project file name and FCE gave me a "Unable to open file" message.
~When I check to see if the project file actually saved to my external hard drive, the name appears, but it says the file size is ZERO kb.
I have done this twice with the same unfortunate result. What am I doing wrong? I have worked on FCE on this same computer before, setting the Scratch Disks the same way, and I did not have this problem.

Are you sure you are trying to open the project file you actually saved ?
Try using Spotlight to search for your project file name. I might be wrong, but I guess you try to open an empty copy while your real project file (what you saved) is somewhere else in either your startup disk (Documents folder ?) or the external drive. If so do not use Open Recent in FCE but simply double click the "real" project file.

I am trying to import my .NEF files into Lightroom and keep getting a message that pops up stating "The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom.". I have never had a problem importing .NEF files before. Does anyone know why I keep getting this message? Help, please and thank you!

Either the NEF files are from a camera newer than your LR version – each camera must be supported explicitly, OR your NEFs have been corrupted by using new camera NEFs with older Nikon software.
So either upgrade your LR to a new version or stop using obsolete Nikon software with your NEFs. You can use the following utility to fix the corrupted caused by obsolete Nikon software:

Importing WMA files- turn into mpeg 4 files- Help Please!

I've just installed iTunes for the first time, and while converting my WMA files, it has turned them into mpeg4 files. How can i turn them back to mp3 files????

If the "Kind" says "MPEG Audio" then what you have are MP3 files.
The format to which WMAs will be converted is controlled by the setting in Edit > Preferences > General > Import Settings > Import Using.

Have a Zire 21 handheld, using Windows XP Pro. Saved and exported datebook and address info, exported all in range. Uninstalled and reinstalled software, but will not allow me to re-import the data. Did notice that after reinstalling, what is now "datebook" was "calendar", and "address" was "contacts". When trying to import the datebook *.dba file in, a message pops up that states it, "is not a Date Book file, or the file is corrupt". Getting the same message when trying to import the address *.aba file. HELP!

Are you still getting this error message? It is possible that the backup files really are currupted.

What is the setting of the conduits? They should be set to synchronize. If you are trying to force data onto your Palm, they setting should be Desktop overwrites Handheld. Once the data is loaded, don't forget to set the conduit back to Synchronize.
