Importing dxf issue

I'm trying to import a dxf to illustrator cs4. when i do, the scale of the drawing is off. I need it to be correct so that when i send the file to my plotter it cuts out the correct dimension. Do i have a setting wrong? I've read there are issues with this and cs4. Is there a fix?

Not a program flaw, user error. AI thinks in inch and point, not metric units. You therefore need to define a suitable scaling factor on import or change the unit system in AutoCAD or whatever CAD program you are using.

When importing DXF to Ai (V15.1), the scale/size of the object (a gear) is all wrong....
Is there a way to keep the actual size of the drawing to be identical to the one in the DXF file?

In AI, you can change the units in preferences to cm or mm. You create the DXF file in cm or mm units in CAD, and when you OPEN the DXF in AI, you can choose the scale = 1 , units = 1 millimeters or centimeters. Older versions of AI had scaling problems with DXF that were never resolved, but I think AI 5.1 has resolved that issue.
Are you having a scaling issue that is unrelated to inches verses mm or cm ?

Import .dxf to ultiboard

I am working with Ultiboard and I see that it has the ability to import
a .dxf file from a CAD program. I have a .dxf file for a componet I
would like to get into ultiboard. When I import it, I can't find it.
Does this import feature allow me to import a footprint or even the 3d
design of the component? Or do I have to manually design each footprint
for each non-generic component I use? If there is a fast way to do this
or a way to import these CAD designs it would greatly save me time.

As you mention, DXF file import is a feature you can find in Ultiboard. Lets go point by point here:
1. The reason why you might not see your imported object might have to do with the 'layer' assigned to the DXF file when you imported, that should had been a option to select on the Import Dialog. Lets say, you imported the DXF file to the Silkscreen Top layer, you should have that layer selected for viewing under the Layers Tab of the Design Toolbox. This applies when you are working on the Design Workspace.
2. When you are creating your own custom footprints... you can indeed import DXF files, however, any pads included in your DXF file are not functional, you will need to manually assign pads to your footprint (for route creation), then you will save this footprint to your user database and use it for your own components, in this way you do not need to create them every time. Once you save the footprint in the database, you can assign it to a component that you would usually use. In the Footprint Edit Mode you will select File >> Import DXF for this action. If this option is not present try Options >> Customize User Interface in order to find this function and add it to your menu.
3. As for the 3D info, that one I'm not so sure about, I would say no, you cannot import 3D data, based on how a footprint file works, you build the outline, create pads, and then you also configure 3D data, but I'm not sure if you could import it. I don't have a 3D DXF file with me in order to test it, but I doubt it will work.

Domestic Purchase of imported goods issue

we have a scenario where imported goods are purchased from a trader in Bombay. The vendor passes the client the ADC(additional duty of customs) and CVD what he has paid while purchasing goods from germany.
the client takes the cenavt credit of ADC and CVD. I have maintained the condition types for ADC as JADC and using jexc to capture to capture CVD in PO pricing procedure.
my issue is that these values are getting loading in stock account. the requirement is to take the cenvat credit of ADC and CVD.
please help what settings are required to be done so that ADC and CVD doesnot get loaded in stock account.

Hi Ajay,
If you do not want any condition to be loaded to Material account than make an account key and like FR1 and assign one GL for that account in OBYC. This account key you need to define in your pricing Procedure.

Import/export issue to migrate the project

Hi,
I am trying to migrate a project from 1 server to another server.
I exported the project and model from my current server, and imported them to the new server. the thing is, the senario can be run successfully, but when I open the interface in designer, the source table cannot get any definition, all the columns in the source table won't show up. it looks like to me is that the interface lost the connection of the data store in the model.
Anybody has any idea how to fix it?

Report and Layout Import Wizard issue

Running SAP B1 v8.82 PL04. RDC into the client server.
I'm getting an issue when importing a report. I get all the way to clicking the "Finish" button and it never loads to the next screen (telling me if the import was successful or not). When I go to the location I specified for the report, it appears there but with a different icon and when I click it shows me an error: "No matching records found 'Queries' (OUQR) (ODBC -2028) [Message 131-183]".
Narrowed down the issue a little:
- Happens for any report I try to import
- Happens for both file types (.rpt / .b1p)
- The wizard works in the other databases on the server
- Same issue when I try on different computers with different log ins
There didn't seem to be any major event that triggered the issue. I was in the middle of importing a few reports, and imported a couple successfully, when all of the sudden the issue occurred.

What I'm trying to do is to create a new Project from the scratch, update the Issues List, not deleting or modifying columns, just creating new columns in order to match the names he (the Project Manager) put in his Issues List, then Export the list to Excel,
and then create a datasheet view matching the Exported list, but here I don't know how to import the list (copy / paste or whatsoever it can be done...)
Do you know how to do it, or do you know another/any method to solve this problem?

Hi José,
2 considerations:
The first one is that (as you experienced) one should not delete or rename any of the predefined columns in the risk/issue list. What you did is the right way, meaning keeping the native column as is and creating new ones based on the business needs. Finally
you just need to create view with the appropriate fields.
Then for importing risks from an Excel list, I can't test it right now, but you should have a datagrid view (MS Access type) allowing you pasting data from Excel.

Imported archive : issues in loading referenced XSDs

hello experts,
I am validating XML messages in XI using a Java mapping and by loading the XSDs at runtime.
I am facing a typical problem when my XSDs import / include other XSDs and below is the situation.
I have a Java mapping class say Validator in a package
com.myclient.xiutils.
I have XSDs in a folder inside this package which is
com.myclient.xiutils.xsds
Within the Validator class, I load the XSDs using the statement,

There is no issue if the primary.xsd has everything inside it but in my case, the third party has provided the xsds to us and the primary.xsd has a reference (import) to secondary.xsd.
whichever location in the package structure I put the secondary.xsd, XI does not recognize it and errors out saying unable to find secondary.
The workaround I had used was I copied the secondary.xsd to the location pointed by the environment variable user.dir and XI could find it at runtime but I want to know what is the correct way.

May be you could try the following lead to resolve the problem:
Lets assume your primary.xsd in the package com.myclient.xiutils.xsds has the following line within it
<xsd:import namespace="..." schemaLocation=
"com/myclient/xiutils/xsds/secondary.xsd"/>
In such a case I assume, the following would happen: Your java runtime would look for the secondary XSD under the following path
+com.myclient.xiutils.xsds.com.myclient.xiutils.xsds.secondary.xsd+.
The underlined path is the path for the primary.xsd, followed by the path of secondary.xsd. If this guess is right, then simply changing the schemaLocation to "secondary.xsd" would help.

Import Server issues with SP4 maps

While using the Import Server, I have a newly created map using Import Mgr 5.5 SP4. (I used a schema created by XI v.7 SP9). When it runs, it throw and exception with the following error message:
<b>"Encountered a pre-SP4 map. The map needs to be upgraded to SP4.
Solution: Please, Launch the Import Manager GUI using the same source file and simply save the map"</b>
It appears to not like new entries on the Partners table and balks at auto-mapping values for the compound field for the qualified lookup table at the Customer main level. The input record is outlined below. I have set the CONFIGURATIONS to "Replace/Replace/None" and "Automap values in batch" and in the map they are set to "Create/Update (ALL MAPPED)/Update (ALL MAPPED)".

For all watching this thread:
We were running MDM 5.5 SP4. We applied Patch 2 (not patch 3) to our 32-bit system and we no longer get this error. We now get an error that the "Source File does not conform to the XML Schema", an entirely new issue. I will open a new question regarding that.

Word 2003 Import - TOC Issue

I have a problem when importing docs into RoboHelp HTML X5.02
from Word 2003.
The TOC generates with the correct structure based on the TOC
from my document, but the generated Topics are not linked to the
TOC books/pages that have been created.
I am having to use the Topic > Properties > Find Topic
dialogue and paste the topic title into the Topic Search field to
manually find and match all the TOC Topics.
The problem seems to have started when I began importing docs
in languages other than English. Now it applies to English as well.
I have found that I can intermittently import docs
successfully if the doc content is all set to US English language,
and the doc is imported from the RoboHelp starter, rather than from
RoboHTML. Even so this doesn't seem to function consistently.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am generating large Projects in
4 languages, and matching all the Topics manually is becoming a
serious issue.

I forgot to mention the last column has some trailing spaces in the first row.

Import profiles issue in EPMA Planning

Hello All,
We are working on Hyperion 11.1.2.1. We are using EPMA planning application. We have SQL server as our staging Area. We are having issues with our new Profiles and also with the old profiles. We have an Account dimension member 'xxxx' having TB as Flow, Exchange Rate Type as "Average" in the staging library and also in the EPMA shared library.
When we import the profile we are getting error message saying "All 'Hierarchy' property updates for member 'xxxx' were rolled back due to a validation error; please correct the properties in error indicated in the validation message and re-import the 'Hierarchy' section for this member to apply all member property updates. ValidationMessage: 'Property value 'Average' is invalid for the 'ExchangeRateType' property."
When try to import the new profile we are getting more no of errors than the old proflie.
Can anyone suggest what might be the issue.

ODI - Import & Export issue

I am using ODI in two environments (Development & Test, both are in different servers).
In Development, i have Master repository with Internal ID = 0 & Work repository with Internal ID =1
In Test environment, i have Master repository with Internal ID = 0 & Work repository with Internal ID =1
I tried to Export the Project & Models from Development, it was successfully completed. I placed those files in Test environment path.
I have succesfully imported the Models in the ODI Test environment. But, when i tried to Import Project, i faced the below error
XML Import Error:
com.sunopsis.core.m: This import action has been cancelled because it could damage your repository (problem with the identifier sequences)
Can anyone help me what actions need to be taken to Import the Project without any issues in detail with the steps?

Hi Dhamu,
Its a pure ID clash, since ur DEV and TEST repository ID are same, its should be different across environment , say DEV Master-0, Work-1 and TEST Master-2, Work-3 something like that.
You need to flush the TEST repositories and create a new repositories with UNIQUE IDs.

PS CS5 importing images issue!

Hi folks,
i got a problem with ps cs5.
I opened an 300 DPI A5 document and started to design it out.
After some time i wanted to import some of my .png files into the composition.
But then it happend, Photoshop boosted the size up of my image... its an 72DPI PNG and the old
PS CS4 used to resize it correctly and I just could start to work with the original size of that image.
for now I am very unhappy about this issue because I have to resize all those images again by hand.
That means I lose quality and it takes a lot of time.
Would be great if someone could tell me if I can workaround that problem somehow.

I can only imagine that Adobe got feature suggestions from people claiming that when they placed their different images together they would rather have automatic resizing per the ppi value, and not hearing praise from people like you just expecting a pixel to remain a pixel, they changed it without an option to keep it the old way. I had high hopes that that checkbox in preferences would get you the older functionality back, but alas it isn't so.
What is that [ ] Resize Image During Place checkbox supposed to do anyway, if not this? A quick glance Help doesn't turn up much on this setting. Maybe it's buried in there somewhere, but it's not popping out.
I even tried placing images using all the combinations of modifyer keys I could think of. That would have been a nice touch, but nope, it didn't work.
A while back I started a thread in which I ended up actually catching some flak for asking that every change in user functionality be accompanied by a setting that allowed users to have things the old way if they desired. This kind of situation is exactly what I had in mind, but people apparently have trouble thinking at this level.

OVM 3.0.3 importing templates issue

We are doing some testing with the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment and Oracle provides templates to use for Oracle VM. The instructions are a bit confusing but I am stuck at trying to import these templates.
Here are the templates I have hosted on a web server so I can import them into OVM.

All the other templates I get an error when it is unpacking the template. The error reads

Why is it looking for this system.img file? These other templates contain *.img files they just are not called system.img (ex E1_HTML.img, ...)
I should note I am using local storage for my repository (1 TB drive) but I haven't had any issues with that so far.

You need to combine all these files into a single .tar.gz file first -- follow the README on E-Delivery for the template to recombine and unpack the template. Unfortunately, OVM3 can't do the recombination for you.
