Importing & editing 16x9

I just shot some video in 16x9.
How can I import it into Final Cut Pro at 16x9?

I set my capture and sequence presets to DV NTSC 48kHz anamporphic.
I edited and the ratio looked right.
I export to quicktime and I understand that I have to go in and change the ration in quicktime to 853x480 which I did.
The quicktime video looks stretched somewhat (I notice particularly with a logo on the video) Is there somehting I am doing wrong?

Why can I no longer import EDITED photo from my iPad to my Mac using Image Capture? This is farcical and a real problem having to email them individually to myself and is totally inefficient time wise compared to previously using image capture! Why change this when it was working well and very quickly until the latest change. Now I have to move files from downloads into an appropriate folder, after emailing each individual edited image to myself, then I have to open in Photoshop and rename the file. This is ludicrous and takes forever to do!

Thank you! I suppected it would be in the settings somewhere. I' ve much to learn...get myself into trouble pushing buttons I don't really understand.

There has been a change in where Firefox searches for plugins and the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder is no longer scanned for plugins, so Firefox won't find them anymore if they are installed in the plugins folder instead of the "browser\plugins" folder that Firefox now scans.
You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins like the WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll).
You can alternatively move plugins from "<install directory>\plugins\" to "<install directory>\browser\plugins\" (create this folder when missing) to make Firefox find them again.

  • Import edited Photos from iPhone 5s to Mac

    Hello Everyone!
How can I import several photos from my iPhone 5s (updated to the latest iOS 8.0.2 (12A405)) to my macbook Pro (updated to OS X 10.9.5)?
I've been searching all over the net, all over support.apple, iPhoto help, iphone help, and I am unable to do this. I found sending email with attachments a very inefficient way, (i've been looking all over for over 4 ridiculous hours). iPhoto would only import originals.
I also tried iCloud sharing, but besides being a bore, it doesn't save the location when exporting.
It seems i've once achieved to import edited pictures, after several hours of searching, but now I can't recall how i did it. It -the way i did it that time- created a folder with the event name inside the iphoto library, but now when I try to import with iphoto, it will save only the original file, and save it in some weird named folder, which is inside of another weird named folder and so on. I have to import more than 5gb of photos this time which are already edited on the phone, need a way to do this without making it one by one, and would like to save the location data, since they are from trips in Europe.
I need a hero! Any help would be kindly appreciated, since i'm running out of ideas, and getting really tired of this (:
    Thanks all!
    Ki

There is no easy solution, I'm afraid.
If the shared photo streams are not an option for you, wait with transferring your edited photos for a bug fix.  The current Photos.app in iOS 8.0.2 does not have the option to save a copy of the edited photo to the camera roll, and shared photo streams do no longer transfer the GPS. If you can wait for an iOS 8 update to fix this, wait a bit.
Dropbox will also transfer the edits, but the GPS is also missing.
Mailing the photo will remove the GPS.
You may want to send feedback to Apple with a bug report that edited photos cannot be transferred properly right now. http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto_ios.html

  • Importing edited images from tape

Is it possible to import already edited images (which are on tape) without having Final Cut filing every shot of the movie in a different file? In fact, it's the master of a video I did a few years ago that I have on a Mini DV video tape. When I try to import it, Final Cut recognize every cuts and files them separately and thus scatters the whole importation in many segments. There must be a way to import edited images as a whole. Please help me. Thank you anyone.

Thank's Russ for your suggestion but I've tried it and the same problem occures. There must be a way to set Final Cut in order to import edited footage in a whole.

  • Import edited DV-movies to iMovie

How can I import edited DV movies, with transitions and music, to iMovie in a proper way? It seems to mess up the import. I have a lot of edited movies on DV cassettes which I want to organize on my iMac with all my other unedited movies:)
    Thanks

    Hi Carl,
I'm not familiar with other programs (hint: Adobe Premiere Elements 11 may be worth a try). But I'm about to import two minDV tapes to iMovie HD 6 (rather than using iMovie '11). The two recordings are edited masters that I archived back to miniDV tape 11 years ago from iMovie version 2. They comprise a wedding video that I've been asked to put onto DVDs (previously recorded back to VHS tape).
I'm hoping that, when imported to iMovie HD 6, all media, transitions, titles, music and so forth will play in the correct sequence - unlike what we are seeing in iMovie '11 (I'm keen to add chapter markers and then use a nice theme in iDVD). Otherwise, I will probably record direct from my old miniDV camcorder to my ancient Pioneer DVD Recorder (which has a Firewire 400 input/ouput jack).
I will let you know how this works out. If it is successful, at least we have one solution. But it won't help you, of course, unless you can get hold of a copy of iMovie HD 6. This version is no longer available, nor supported by Apple, but I understand can be purchased on eBay or Amazon (look for iLife '06). But first things first - let's see if this works with iMovie HD 6.
I'll get back to you Carl, but it may be in a few days - if you can wait that long!
    John
PS I'm also intending to copy the final exported movie to USB flash drives, so that the recipients have both a DVD and USB stick (another reason to use iMovie).

  • How to import edited photos from iphone to Windows-based laptop without losing XMP edits

When I import photos from iphone into Lightshop all edits are lost. how do I prevent that?
    thanks
    Robert

You fail to understand the question. "How can I import edited photos from iPhone 5S to PC (Windows 7)?" The key is that the photos taken on my iPhone have been edited on the iPhone. The original photo exists in "Photo Stream," and the edited photo exists in "Camera Roll."
When I import (synch, transfer, any synonym you prefer is fine with me) photos, they are written to two areas available on my PC:
    Photostream images are at
       Computer\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream\
and Camera Roll (edited phots) are at
       C:\Users\[my name]\Pictures\[synch-date]\
The images shown in "C:\Users\[my name]\Pictures\[synch-date]\" (the Camera Roll photos) are not as they were edited, however. I suspect that the iPhone "edits" images by applying a layer that manipulates the image without actually editing the file.
I have found so far that my best recourse is to import photos to my PC, edit them there in Photoshop (or other software), and then upload the images as I want them edited back to the iPhone. I would prefer to simply edit the pictures once on the iPhone and be able to import the edited files to my PC.

  • Import, edit, and export QuickTime document: wise? how to maintain quality?

Can iMovie HD 6.0.3 be used to import a reasonably-high-quality QuickTime file (Apple Graphics compression), edit it, and export to Quicktime, all resulting in a QuickTime file with the same clarity as the original?
I have a quicktime file that captures a demonstration on my desktop. It was recorded with SnapZ Pro (with movie option) into this format: Apple Graphics, 889 x 500, 256, IMA 4:1, Mono, 22.050 kHz. (Note: I got 889x500 when I constrained SnapZ to a 16x9 format.)
I need to clip out sections, rerecord some of the audio, insert snippets of replacement video (re-recorded). I have Quicktime 7.1.3 Pro, but I had this idea it would be easier to do this editing with IMovie HD 6.0.3.
My problem is that everything I export has noticeably worse quality than the original source. I have tried all sorts of projects (DV, HDV, MPEG-4, ISight). I've tried exports at full quality, lower quality, various expert settings.
    For example:
    - Create a DV-Widescreen project.
    - Import the movie. What I see on the screen is slightly smaller (in both dimensions) than the QuickTime Player shows me, and quite noticeably blurrier.
    - Picking Expert export, I use Compression: Graphics, Depth: Color, Quality: Best, key frame rate 24, Dimensions 889x500, Scale: Letterbox.
    - The QuickTime file displays as the right size, with a tiny black border for letterboxing, and with crummy quality (text has shadows, making it worse than just blurry.) All this despite being 30MB from a 3.2MB original.
Quite likely, I'm using the wrong tool. I don't have a camcorder - I don't even have a TV - so I don't know any of the jargon. What would be the right tool for this task? Stick to Quicktime Pro?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

How would Final Cut Express work for editing quicktime as above?
    same answer:
    FCE handles dv/NTSC/PAL only ...-
for sure, you can import "any format/res" ...- with loss of quality, if import doesn't fit standards...- and: FCE is the "more mightier" tool, means, you can easiely arrange two/many videos in one picture, arrange them, position them ...-
if you want to stay with your original settings, you have to use QTpro (less convenient) or FCP (less cheap) ...

  • Importing/editing project created in newer version of iMovie?

I am trying to import and edit an iMovie project that was created in a newer version of iMovie ('11), on my computer, which has iMovie '09 8.0.6. Is this possible?

    No.

  • Import Edited Video Into iMovie 8.0.5

I have an edited movie that I created on a previous version of iMovie. I saved the movie to mini DV tape. I want to import the movie in its edited version to iMovie 8.0.5. When I import it, it puts the clips out of order, esp transitions and titles. It seems that there must be some timecode in the DV somewhere that iMovie 8.0.5 is using to reorder the fully edited video. The question is then: How do you import a fully edited movie into iMovie without it reordering it into clips. If there is no option to import the clip, then I will have to re-edit the entire movie -- a true waste of time. Please help. Robert.

Hello, Robert, and Welcome to the Discussions,
iMovie 9 (v 8.x) cannot import an earlier version of iMovie and keep its edits. You will get the clips, edited clips, photos, but no effects or titles, and all the transitions will be converted to cross-dissolves.
If you still have the previous iMovie version used to create that movie, you can export it as Quick Time Full Quality and import that QT movie into iMovie 09.

  • Can't import edited song from iTunes to iPhoto

    Hi,
I've created a slideshow in iPhoto and a playlist in iTunes to go with the slideshow. I shortened one of the songs in the playlist from 4.5 minutes to 1.5 minutes (file-get info-options). Within iTunes the song is shortened but when I import the playlist to iPhoto the song reverts back to its original length. I realise there is a workaround using iDVD (when I import the song into iDVD it stays at 1.5 minutes unlike iPhoto) but it means I have to redo the whole slideshow again which I'd prefer to avoid.
Has anyone any suggestions how to shorten a song for a slideshow within iPhoto?

I don't build slide shows, so not sure how hard it is to do in iDVD, but you can burn a song to CD and then rip it back into iTunes. Then you can edit the song in Garage Band. You might want to do this with a number of songs that you might use in one sitting, as it's pretty tedious.
One other thought: check if Amazon has the mp3 of the same song. The content there is not protected (I think the music producers cut that deal just to stick it to Apple) and is $0.99 per song like on iTunes. Might be worth another buck to avoid all this hassle. iTunes is easier to search and buy from (IMO) and has a better selection, but you might get lucky at Amazon. I've ended up buying the same song again at Amazon just for this reason.

  • Importing & Editing My Own DVDs

    Hello
I have a DVD Recorder in my living room and want to be able to edit stuff I record on my Mac using iMovie. Ideally I want to be able to remove adverts etc quickly without needing to watch the programmes as I record hovering over the pause / unpause button.
IS there a way to import these files (vob, ifo etc) into iMovie to edit them? If not is there an easy (and ideally cheap) option to allow me to do this?
    Cheers,
    Carl.

    @just for rick.....
    ;-))) ROTFL
... and the best: because mainly "beginners" granted me 2 - 4 + for that, my calculation says, within less then 7 months I'm an level4 expert!!!....
    a) nobody learns anymore to handle a library.. I mean, the real ones, with printed books... our computer systems (all!) still work with techniques from the 15th century... "spotlight" just can show content discribed in words... most of my 10k fotos are named as DS00134005.... etc.....
so: 10.5. needs some "master" idea for a process called indexing
effect: nobody knows how to handle "search" or "FAQ"
    b) the worm should taste the fish, not the fisherman.... maybe, we see in the future a "dvd import function"... ok, there's this DRM-thing... but not with homebrewn ones.... (who said "video iPod"??? )

  • Importing & Editing iPhone Video, but end result horrible Quality?? Why?

I imported a few videos from my Iphone to edit in PE7. After editing and rendering, the resulting video looks like crap compared to original. I did a test run of a short clip with no editing whatsoever and rendered as a MPEG2 to upload to a webpage and it still looked horrible compared to the original. The iPhone files are Quicktime .MOV video files. Ive had no other problems before with other sources and just wondering what Im missing. Ive tried googling and cant find any help. Thanks.

There is no project preset for 1080p24 in Premiere Elements 7. It is not until Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 that we do find the opportunity.
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p24
So, what to do with a 1080p24 (Stereo audio) and Premiere Elements 7 and end up with a 1080p24 export to file saved to the computer hard drive.
    (1) Import with the project preset of
    NTSC
    AVCHD Full HD 1080i30
The prime objective of the project preset is to direct the program to set up the 1920 x 1080 space in the Edit area monitor. This project preset will serve that purpose until you want to do frame by frame by frame editing which you are unlikely to be involved in.
    (2) When it comes to export the 1080p24 Timeline content
    Share
    Personal Computer
    MPEG
    with Presets = HD 720p
then under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, customize the Export Settings to look exactly like what you see in the screenshot below: If the screenshot does not present clear enough, please click on it to bring up a clearer view.
Please check out my blog post on Premiere Elements 24p features.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE: 24p Conversion Methods, Pulldowns, and Related Interpret Footage
Now with regard to what you seem actually to have....
    1. Both cell phones (iPhone 5 and 5S) are probably giving you 1080p with a variable frame rate up to 30 frames per second. Depends often on the lighting during video recording with the device.
    a. If you are having problems with this video, then take it into HandBrake before importing it into Premiere Elements 7 in order to change the variable frame rate to a constant one. The MediaInfo video audio properties readout program will give you the minimum, mid range, and maximum frame rate used in recording the video. Go with the mid range reading.
    http://handbrake.fr/
MediaInfo | Free software downloads at SourceForge.net
Even the latest Premiere Elements versions can have problems with variable frame rates of cell phones and those other devices that work with a variable frame rate.
    b. Let us assume that you have a 1080p with the mid range 24 progressive frames per second used for these cell phone recordings.
Import the 1080p24 with the constant frame rate into Premiere Elements 7 with the project preset cited in example above.
    c. Then use the export route that I described in the example above.
If your iPhone videos have frame rates other than 24 progressive frames per second, we can discuss them individually.
Do any of your source videos for these project need rotation. Other topic for discussion. For now, the above principles should apply to your video. Handling of portrait oriented video in a landscape oriented video is other topic for discussion. But, let us see how you work through the above.
    Thanks.

  • Can't import edited Soundbooth file into Premiere?

    Hi,
I've been editing a project and used Soundbooth to clean up the sound.  Worked well with several clips, the edited version appeared on the Premiere Timeline automatically, but the most recent one doesn't seem to import to the Timeline.  It did at first, but then then the sound was out of sync, not sure why (Perhaps because I had already put an audio effect on the original audio, which I've since deleted.)  I used command Z to get rid of the out of sync audio.  That worked and the non-edited sound version appeared back on the Timeline.  But now I want the edited sound version to appear back on the Timeline again (in sync, hopefully), but I can't get it to import from Soundbooth automatically as it did before.  What can I do?  I saved the audio in Soundbooth and it's still there with all the edits I've made.  I also tried to click on the un-edited audio in the Premiere Timeline and send the audio back to Soundbooth, but that only created a second, unedited file.  I don't want to have to reedit everything again, so what can I do?  Can I get the edited sound file to appear on the Timeline manually, or could I copy the edits from the first file to the second file and then have that appear in Premiere?  I'm using CS4.
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Never mind, looks like I fixed it importing the file from Premiere Pro and dragging and dropping it onto the Timeline.
