Importing Exchange Address Book Into Mail

So I setup my exchange account without any issues but I'm somewhat struggling to figure out how to import my company (exchange) address book. Can anyone assist?

OK, any Contacts you have on the Exchange Server are now in your Mac's Address Book. Right?
So I think that you are after the "contacts" that are in the Global Address List, which contains all the addresses within you companies domain and which is maintained on the Exchange Server.
From what I know the Global Address List is only available when talking against an Exchange 2007 server.
Apple says:
"Now with Snow Leopard, the Mac has out-of-the-box support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, something even Windows PCs don't have. Instead of using Outlook to access Exchange services such as email, calendar invitations, and Global Address Lists, you’ll use Mail, iCal, and Address Book."

  • Importing Eudora Address Book into Mail.App on Mountain Lion

HELP - I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8) and didn't realise this meant that my beloved Eudora died on me!
Undaunted I successfully imported my mailbox files from Eudora into MAIL albeit they need cleaning up.
BUT I cannot find the address items anywhere?!?!??!?!?
    I have a MACBOOK PRO that's about 2 years old (2.4 GHz - intel 5 - 4GB RAM) if that makes a difference.
    Three questions:
    1)   Does MAIL use the CONTACTS file on the MAC  ???
    2)  Where the **** are the addresses?  I can't see them in my "EUDORA FOLDER"  IF I could find them I guess I could have a go at importing them into my CONTACTS.
    3)  IF sorry WHEN I find the contacts should it carry over group addresses ???
    Many Thanks

How do I import my address book into Adobe Send?

    Hi propacific,
There is no way to port your address book into Adobe Send, but if you use Send through Adobe Reader, you can access your local address book. And, if you're on Windows, you can use the Outlook plug-in for Adobe Send so you can send directly from Outlook. You can download the plug-in from here: Send Large Files Online - Share, Control, Track & Manage | Adobe Send

  • Need to import excel address book into google or iphone?

This is my scenario - a very close friend had his 4000+ contact list on Novell Groupwise but was let go from his job, he was able to grab the list and export it to Excel.  When I view this list it has all of the info and each column seems correct like Column a has the Name to show, column B is email, Column C is Phone and so on.  What is the best way to get this list onto his iPhone?

Save the Excel list as a .csv (comma-separated value) file.
Address Book can import .csv files.
Once the contacts are in Address Book, they can of course be synced to iPhone.
The process is described in more detail if you open the Help file for Address Book and search on "importing." There's a topic called Importing Contacts from Other Applications.
If you are in GMail and you click Contacts, and the More menu, there is an Import command. That, too, imports .csv files, so the same file you exported should work there too. The help text on that page says "...We also support importing vCard from apps like Apple Address Book." Which means you could also start from Address Book and export as vCard instead of CSV.
    http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=14024
CSV and vCard are industry standards for contact list exchange, so at least one of these formats will work with almost any mail program anywhere, from Apple Mail to Microsoft Outlook to Yahoo Mail etc. etc.

  • Importing new Address Book into Address Book but keeping it separate.

I have an existing Address Book on my MacBook Pro and would like to import my office Address Book - BUT keep it as a separate group.  The office Address Book has over 1,000 names so it is a lot of work to import it and then, one by one, find, separate and add the names to a New Group.  Is there a way to import the new Address Book directly into its own Group?
    Both Address Books are Apple.
I understand that the new names will be a part of my existing Address Book when I am in the ALL Group.

Well you are correct - you cannot import into .Mac mail.
What you can do is import your .csv file into Address Book on a Mac and then Sync that Address Book with your .Mac information.
In Address Book the Import function is under the File menu.
To Sync use the .Mac preference pane in System Preferences.

  • How to Import Outlook Address Book into Mac Address Book?

I will be making an employment change and need to import my pc Outlook addresses into my mac email addresses. After repeated emails to Apple and apple support phone calles no one can help because I am not going from a mac to a mac. Unbelieveable. Actually it's not-the lack of customer services these days should not surprise me.
Anyway, anyone know how to do to save me having to re-type hundreds of addresses?
    Thanx!
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

You need to export your Outlook contacts into a VCard format.
There are many programs out there that will do this for bulk jobs. But, you can do it for free if you are willing to do it manually.
Select each contact one at a time from Outlook. Then, go up to the menus (I think it's the file menu) and choose export, then choose to export it as a VCard.
I'm not in front of a PC. But, I remember doing it that way for about 80 something cards when I moved from my PC.
Once you have them in a VCard format, you can just drag and drop them into Apple's Address Book.
It takes some time to do it this way if you have a ton of contacts. But, it does work.
I think the PC format might be VCF but it is VCard.
Apple uses a different format of VCard than Microsoft does. So, you won't be able to use Microsoft's Export to export all the cards at one time.
That method will not allow you to import them into Apple's address book since they are different formats.
But, it will work if you export each individual record one at a time, and then drag each one into Apple's Address Book.
Additionally, if you find a web-mail service like GMail or Yahoo, or something like that that can synchronize with both the PC and the Mac, then you could try moving it to one of those services and then to Apple's address book.
For an automated system, check out:
    http://www.littlemachines.com/
You can also read Apple's document on the subject here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad808.html
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to import Mac address book into Thunderbird

I have Address Book on my Mac and am trying to import it into Thunderbird. I have gone to Tools>Import>address books>text file. But when I try to choose Address Book in applications, it is not highlighted , so it is not an option to choose.
I have also tried to export it into Thunderbird: In Address Book file>export>Export group vCard and again, when I go to choose Address Book in applications, it is not highlighted so it is not an option to choose.
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Help please.

Close your Thunderbird completely and reopen it, still doesn't work
To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • Import Address Book into Entourage

I posted a question before about a problem with Mail and Exchange/Outlook. In doing some additional research it appears I can solve my problem by using Entourage.
Now I have to try and export the addresses in the Apple Address Book into Entourage. It appears Apple Address Book will not export in a comma delimited format and Entourage will not import vCards.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    David

    David,
This was posted in MacFixIt and it works perfectly:
    Entourage addresses into Address Book:
    1. Create a new desktop folder. Name it anything you want, but v-card would be appropriate, because that's what you will be creating.
    2. Open Entourage's Addresses and select the ones that you want to bring over.
    3. Drag these addresses into the v-card folder.
    4. Drag the v-card folder into the Name field of Apple's Address Book. You can safely trash the folder after you are finished.
    Apple addresses to Entourage:
    1. In Apple's Address Book, select the addresses that you want to export to Entourage.
    2. Open Entourage Address Book and drag those addresses into Entourage Address Book. If you are exporting multiple addresses, hold Option while you do this, otherwise only the topmost address will be exported and you'll have to do it one-by-one.
These methods are not perfect. You may find some minor errors, such as a Home email coming across as Work, but otherwise you'll get everything.

  • Microsoft Exchange Categories in iCal, Address Book and Mail

I work in a Microsoft environment with my MacBook Pro and would like to use iCal, Address Book and Mail as my default applications rather than Microsoft Oulook 2011, however, there is not support for the Microsoft Exchange Categories to be replicated into the various Apple applications. This results in my address book not to differentiate any longer from my contact categories stored on the Exchange server, nor my calendar. Categories can be created in iCal and other Apple applications but it then requires for the event or contact to be duplication "On my Mac" which makes me loose my synchronization with other systems. Any idea about to fix that?

Same issue here. I would love to migrate to iCal but the lack of support for categories is a limiting factor. Same applies to Contacts.

  • Importing Netscape's address book into Apple's Address Book application

I want to import my email Netscape email address book into Apple's Address Book application. So I open the Address Book application and select import from the pull down menu. That brings up three choices, vCards, LDIF and Text. I previously had saved my Netscape address book as a pdf file. So I selected, Text. A window appeared from which I was to select where I wanted to get the file from. I made selections until I got to where my pdf file was and selected it. But I got the following error message.
The file you selected does not appear to be a valid comma separated values (csv) file nor a valid tab delimited file, please choose another file.
So I tried again and this time I selected LDIF, but when the file in my Netscape Users Profile that would appear to be my address book came up, it was “greyed out” and I could not select it. The file had the name “abook.mab”. It is not an LDIF file. There are no LDIF files in my profile.
So I tried selecting vCards, but I got the exact same results as above. The file that looks like it is my address book, is grayed out and cannot be selected.
So I went into Netscape to see if I could export my address book into Apple’s Address Book. I chose export from the Netscape menu and a window opened asking me to select where I wanted to export the file to. But when I got to Apple’s Address Book application, it was greyed out and could not be selected. The same thing happened when I tried to select Apple’s Mail program.
I have about three hundred email addresses in my Netscape address book. If these addresses have to be manually entered into Apple's Address Book, I will not make the switch to Apple's Mail program.

Netscape's Address Book window does not have that option. The Export option is under the Tools menu, but does not give you any options in the Tools menu. Once you select Export, the Export Address Book window opens. This window does have a format option where you can select either LDIF, Comma Separated or Tab Delimited. But it doesn't matter which of those I select, Apple's Address Book and Mail applications are not available for selection.
