Importing existing project to Project Online

Hello, my company recently purchased Project Online to add to our existing Office 365 environment.
From the Project Web App home page, I would like to use the Create or Import projects tile to add an existing .mpp project file that I have uploaded to my SkyDrive to Project Online, and manage this project from the Project Web app.
However, I cannot figure out how to do this or if it is even possible. The tile itself says "Create new or import from Sharepoint sites and project files.".  To import an existing project you're then referred to this site: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-server-help/more-ways-to-create-or-import-projects-HA102923810.aspx.
On that site the only listed ways of importing an existing project are to import a Sharepoint task list (not what I want) or by connecting your local Project Pro to Project Online and publishing the project.
Importing or uploading an existing project file directly to Project Online would seem to be a fundamental basic usage of Project Online. Do I really need to also purchase Project Professional in order to import existing project files to Project Online?
Thanks

Project Online cannot read mpp files, hence the reason for requiring Project Professional 2013 if you want to import these into Project Online - even if you only want to manage them via Project Web App from then on.
If you've not got Project 2013 Pro, you could cut and paste the existing task list from Project into a SharePoint list, and create the project from there.
The way forward will depend on the complexity of your schedules, remember that PWA does not have all of the capability of MS Project 2013

New to RoboHelp 9 (sigh) - trying to import an existing hhp project but I get the message that the hha file contains an incorrect filepath. Nothing has changed regarding relative filepaths. What am I overlooking?

Hi DorrianneG and welcome to the RH forums.
I'm afraid a .hha file is a new one on me. Isn't this some sort of archive file? Do you actually have a .hha file present from where you are importing? Also can I ask why you are trying to open a project from the HHP file? There are implications of doing this. Do you not have access to the other project source files?

Have you got subversion commandline tools installed? And if so, did you install the version that was built against Apache 2.2. Subclipse is built against ver 2.0 and if you have the wrong version of the APR libraries included in your path then this causes eclipse to crash.
My solution was to uninstall the commandline tools built against Apache 2.2 and reinstall those that are built against version 2.0
    Thats what I found anyway.

  • How to import existing ColdFusion project in the eclipse.

    Hi All,
I have exiting ColdFusion project in my local drive and I want to import it in Eclipse. I already have CFEclipse installed in Eclipse. Is there any step by step instruction to do this?
    Thanks

You should be able to copy the folder into your Eclipse workspace folder, then go to File--New--Project and select CFML Project (under CFEclipse).
If it is an existing Eclipse project, e.g. there is already a .project file in the folder, you can follow the steps at Importing Existing Projects.

  • How to import existing eclipse Project to JDeveloper

    Hi,
previously I used to use Eclipse IDE. I have started to use Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 now. How can I import my existing Eclipse projects to JDeveloper? Please Note, I already have tried following options -
"Importing Existing Files into a New JDeveloper Project" from here - Working with Applications and Projects.
But, When I import the source files from existing Eclipse Projects to JDeveloper, I am not able to crease similar directory structure in the JDeveloper(in Application Navigator). As a result, I can not use my existing ANT build script to build my project[Though JDeveloper build my project, but I want to use manual ANT build.]
Moreover I don't want to change my existing directory structure as I am working on and existing project and I need to synchronize to my repository(Apache SVN).
Can any one help me in this - How can I import existing Eclipse Project to JDeveloper? Without any significant change in directory structure.
    Best Regards
    Chandramoulee

Well there are two options - if you have a WAR file with the code in it, then you can use the file->import WAR.
Or you can use the new->Project from source code.
Note that you'll probably need to do some library settings and some directory setting after that.

  • How to import existing projects into JDeveloper 11g

I am trying to work with JDeveloper for my application and want to know whether it is possible to import existing projects into the work space in JDeveloper. I am currently working with eclipse IDE and this feature is available in it. How can I connect to clear case from JDeveloper? In eclipse it is very easy to connect to clear case with a plugin installed and check out, check in files from the source control. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The basic way to import code is to use the "New->Projects->Project from existing code" or "project from WAR" dialogs to create your project.
You then need to do some tweaking in the project properties->Content (and sub nodes such as resources and Web content).
And also set the correct JARs/Libraries in the project properties.
You can use the help->check for update to download the extension to JDeveloper that will let you integrate with Clearcase to do version management.
This how-to might help you with your migration:

  • Importing existing projects

I am trying to import some projects that I have on my work
machine in to my home machine. I am just getting started with Flex
builder but am having a bit of trouble understanding how it handles
projects...there is no apparent way to *completely* close one
project and open another one, so you are working on only one at a
time. Rather, it appears that you import all projects into the same
workspace, and switch between them in the Navigator (whether these
projects are related to one another or not). Is this correct?
One problem I had though, is that I cannot seem to import all
my projects. I created a directory on my work machine called
FlexProjects, and inside are two project directories, say Test and
Keyboard. I took this entire directory home with me and saved to a
local drive. Then, I used the Switch Workspace command to switch to
FlexProjects. Then, I said Import ->existing projects and
navigated to the FlexProjects folder. From here, it listed both
Test and Keyboard. It will then import Test, but when importing
    Keyboard I get this message:
    Invalid project description:
    Reason:
    Invalid project description
    and the details say:
    E:\projects\FlexProjects\Keyboard overlaps the workspace
    location E:\projects\FlexProjects
I don't understand this - I did a compare of the Test and
Keyboard project paths and there was no obvious difference (like an
incorrect path) that would explain why Test will import but
    Keyboard won't.
It is critical that I be able to port Flex projects between
home and work .. can someone help me fix this?
    Thanks!

That's what I figured.   I'll just have to work through the background and keep as is.  thanks!

  • While working in iMovie, computer shut down and all imported clips from that project disappeared. The project still existed, with titles, but all video clips were gone from the movie as well as the computer library.

Clips were imported from SD card into iMovie project. While working on the project, computer shut down. When restarted, all clips from that event were no longer in the project, or in the computer library. Project existed, with titles, but blank spaces exist where clips had been.

OH MY GOD! This EXACT thing just happened to me! It didn't save my event and didn't show the date in the iMovie library but if I look under all projects, the project is there. Except that there are little blank place holders where all my clips were. Also the title of the project has a little yellow "!" symbol next to it which I can only assume means that the file is corrupted.
I can't believe it destroyed like 8 hours of work!

  • I imported a COMPLETED book project into Aperture 3, only to discover that  the resolution of all the photos has been reduced to totally unacceptable levels

I imported a COMPLETED book project into Aperture 3, only to discover that  the resolution of all the photos has been reduced to totally unacceptable levels.  Any easy solution?
    Steps:
    1. I finished an Aperture 2 (Two) book project and tried to submit it to Apple for printing. At that point I learned (belatedly, obviously) that Apple no longer accepts books from Aperture 2. I don't know how I would have known to even ask if Aperture 2 had been sunsetted as far as book projects go.
    2. So I tried to download Aperture 3 ($79.99), only to be told that I couldn't download Aperture 3.5.1 because I was still running OSX 10.8.x. So I read current reviews for OSX 10.9.x, and ...
    3. Downloaded and installed the current operating system (about a 3-hours process for me).  OSX 10.9.2, here we are!
    4. Then I returned to the Apple Store, found, and purchased Aperture 3.  [For safety's sake, it would sure be nice to have a .dmg file I could copy and file away.  I lost a perfectly legal and good copy of Adobe's Photoshop Elements 3 years ago because I wasn't smart enough to make a safety copy, and when my iMac crashed (fried electronic components), I was left with a copy of the software that wouldn't run, and couldn't be verified as legit.]
    5. When Aperture 3 finished installing, I found and imported my COMPLETED Aperture 2 book project, which import seemed to proceed nominally -- the right number of pages, the right content on those pages, that sort of thing -- until I started looking more carefully at the pictures themselves.  All of them, about 300 of them, have been imported into an Aperture 3 book project in such a reduced resolution that they are fuzzy at the size the book will be printed.  Screen-capture of just one example (at 100% viewer setting):
I don't know what to do at this point to correct the problem, short of going through the entire book project, copy the custom captions (since those go away when you "delete" photo content), delete the photo, re-insert the photo, and paste back the custom caption.  Lather, rinse, repeat - ~300 times!  An estimated 2-3 hours of additional work.
Or does anyone in this community know either (1) that I did something wrong in the Aperture 2-to-Aperture 3 import (I don't recall being offered any options or choices in the process); or (2) that there is a wholesale one-step solution to my problem?
BTW, I tried to edit my "Product" info, but OSX 10.9.x is not in the pick list.  I am running OSX 10.9.2
    <Re-Titled By Host>

Frank, thanks for your note.  I wrote "COMPLETED" because I had gone to a lot of effort to get the content of the book precisely as I wanted it. I would fully expect to see my level of effort and care matched by functional competence in Aperture 3 to render the book the way I created it.  Too much to ask?
And yes, I upgraded the Aperture 2 Library first.  [Not ALL my tens of 000s of pix, because I use Lightroom selectively for photo editing. But Yes to the Aperture 2 Library.]  That step took a number of minutes, but seemed to work fine (no error messages of any kind).
Then I opened the existing book project in Aperture 3, which followed some "magic-box" process that took a minute or so.  As I said, when that step was done, by all appearances the book was ready to submit for printing - until I examined the photos a little more closely.  You did see the blurry example I included, didn't you? That is what each and every photo looks like.
Text-box content appears to have been rendered pertectly, for the record (including captions).
So, ... is this result something you have heard of before?  Do you know of a one-step solution?  Or am I looking at an extended picture-by-picture fix?

    Questions:
    ==========
    1) Am I missing something obvious or are these simply bugs?
    2) Is there a particular reason why there is no reference to JDeveloper 10.1.2 on the http://jdeveloper.us.oracle.com website?
    3) Why were the 'Add to Applications...' and 'Add to Project...' buttons removed from the 'Applications - Navigator'?
I found them very helpful and used them to add items to existing Applications and Projects.
I have duplicated these problems on two different Windows XP systems. Neither JDeveloper 10.1.2 or 9.0.5 builds have exhibited these problems.

    Hi Shay,
This dynamic project source feature is going to kill us! We have more than 15,000 files in our projects. Currently, part of them are managed by JDeveloper. Developers have option to load only the files they are working on. If all files in the project source will be loaded automatically, that will definitely be a nightmare to us. The JDeveloper will be frozen from time to time when it start to looking for new files...
Think about why people pick Oracle instead of SQL Server - Oracle is good in handling large data. We, JDeveloper users, sincerely hope JDeveloper team can design/test the JDeveloper on large scaled project before formally release it.
Thanks for your hard work though.

  • Importing tutwd_mobile_init and tutwd_mobile projects in Netweaver DS

    Dear All,
I am not able to find the tutwd_mobile_init and tutwd_mobile project in netweaver developer studio
and hence cannot import the same to the workspace.
    please help regarding the same.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I think you are referrring to the NW 2004 Tutorial found here:
    /docs/DOC-8061#55 [original link is broken]
All you need to do is download the 2 files linked in that page itself:
    1. Mobile Web Dynpro_Details.zip - tutwd_mobile_init - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/3068cc8a-4798-2b10-2285-d35a6c48d785
    2. Mobile Web Dynpro_Code Sample.zip - tutwd_mobile - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00fbdb95-4798-2b10-a096-b4103ea52252
Extract the folders on to your PC. Now you need to import them according to the following instrcutions found in one of the SDN SAP Teched 05 docs:
Remark: If these projects do not appear in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio yet you probably have to
    - copy the folders "TutWD_Mobile_Init" and "TutWD_Mobile" to your Laptop/PC
    - import the two projects into the workspace of your SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
(File -> Import -> Existing Project into Workspace)
    - if the rebuild (click right on project, Rebuild project) fails, "repair" the project (right click on
project, Repair -> Project Structure and Classpath)
Please mark this thread as answered and my post as solved if my post solved your query.

  • Can new PWA views be created whereby a filter can be set and associate to the view by default? (Project Server 2013 ONLINE)

My main question is: Can new PWA views be created whereby a filter for that view can be set, and associate to the view by default? (Project Server 2013 ONLINE)? and can I have a filter set to filter on person logged on to...
In previous versions of Project Server, when CREATING a PWA view, we were able to apply/ define a filter for that view.  Does not seem like it is the case in Project Server 2013 Online.  And if I remember, we could also use the URL Guid_view_id.
Please confirm; and / or tell me how-to.
What I was hoping to do is the following... Given that our standard that we have adopted for reporting time is 'My Timesheets' (fyi, Single Mode Entry=ON), we have some resources who have others who do it on their behalf via 'My Tasks' (ie., accomplished
by using the 'Assignment Owner' field, accordingly).  Therefore, when entering time on someone else's behalf within 'My Tasks', we like to present the user that is logged in only the tasks that they are are assigned to update on others' behlaf.
I know that there is another more elegant approach to doing this which may be to use the Delegation feature. But since we are trying to stick to Sharepoint Security mode for now, this is not an option for the time being.
Any help appreciated would be greatly appreciated.
\Spiro Theopoulos PMP, MCITP. Montreal, QC (Canada)

    Hi Spiro,
1- You still can define in Project Online a filter in the view settings, it is located just above the category setting. Here is a screenshot of the summary project center view:
2- The view GUID is not anymore in the URL, since the URL triggers an action only on the webpart and not on the whole page. I agree this is annoying since it was great to send a URL with a specific view.
3- Concerning the access to my timesheet versus my task, I'm not sure to get a full understanding but on a general way, it is much more easy to deal with those situation using categories which you cannot do with the SP permission mode.
    Hope this helps,
