Importing existing projects

I am trying to import some projects that I have on my work
machine in to my home machine. I am just getting started with Flex
builder but am having a bit of trouble understanding how it handles
projects...there is no apparent way to *completely* close one
project and open another one, so you are working on only one at a
time. Rather, it appears that you import all projects into the same
workspace, and switch between them in the Navigator (whether these
projects are related to one another or not). Is this correct?
One problem I had though, is that I cannot seem to import all
my projects. I created a directory on my work machine called
FlexProjects, and inside are two project directories, say Test and
Keyboard. I took this entire directory home with me and saved to a
local drive. Then, I used the Switch Workspace command to switch to
FlexProjects. Then, I said Import ->existing projects and
navigated to the FlexProjects folder. From here, it listed both
Test and Keyboard. It will then import Test, but when importing
Keyboard I get this message:
Invalid project description:
Reason:
Invalid project description
and the details say:
E:\projects\FlexProjects\Keyboard overlaps the workspace
location E:\projects\FlexProjects
I don't understand this - I did a compare of the Test and
Keyboard project paths and there was no obvious difference (like an
incorrect path) that would explain why Test will import but
Keyboard won't.
It is critical that I be able to port Flex projects between
home and work .. can someone help me fix this?
Thanks!

That's what I figured.   I'll just have to work through the background and keep as is.  thanks!

  • Importing existing project to Project Online

Hello, my company recently purchased Project Online to add to our existing Office 365 environment.
From the Project Web App home page, I would like to use the Create or Import projects tile to add an existing .mpp project file that I have uploaded to my SkyDrive to Project Online, and manage this project from the Project Web app.
However, I cannot figure out how to do this or if it is even possible. The tile itself says "Create new or import from Sharepoint sites and project files.".  To import an existing project you're then referred to this site: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-server-help/more-ways-to-create-or-import-projects-HA102923810.aspx.
On that site the only listed ways of importing an existing project are to import a Sharepoint task list (not what I want) or by connecting your local Project Pro to Project Online and publishing the project.
Importing or uploading an existing project file directly to Project Online would seem to be a fundamental basic usage of Project Online. Do I really need to also purchase Project Professional in order to import existing project files to Project Online?
    Thanks

Project Online cannot read mpp files, hence the reason for requiring Project Professional 2013 if you want to import these into Project Online - even if you only want to manage them via Project Web App from then on.
If you've not got Project 2013 Pro, you could cut and paste the existing task list from Project into a SharePoint list, and create the project from there.
The way forward will depend on the complexity of your schedules, remember that PWA does not have all of the capability of MS Project 2013

  • How to import existing projects into JDeveloper 11g

I am trying to work with JDeveloper for my application and want to know whether it is possible to import existing projects into the work space in JDeveloper. I am currently working with eclipse IDE and this feature is available in it. How can I connect to clear case from JDeveloper? In eclipse it is very easy to connect to clear case with a plugin installed and check out, check in files from the source control. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The basic way to import code is to use the "New->Projects->Project from existing code" or "project from WAR" dialogs to create your project.
You then need to do some tweaking in the project properties->Content (and sub nodes such as resources and Web content).
And also set the correct JARs/Libraries in the project properties.
You can use the help->check for update to download the extension to JDeveloper that will let you integrate with Clearcase to do version management.
This how-to might help you with your migration:

Have you got subversion commandline tools installed? And if so, did you install the version that was built against Apache 2.2. Subclipse is built against ver 2.0 and if you have the wrong version of the APR libraries included in your path then this causes eclipse to crash.
My solution was to uninstall the commandline tools built against Apache 2.2 and reinstall those that are built against version 2.0
    Thats what I found anyway.

  • Can't import existing project or multiple project into workspace

    Hi everyone,
When i created a new model to my project , i lost the fils generated automatically in gen_wdp. so the types generated automatically are not recognazed in the code.
Before creating the new model, i have copied the folder of the project to an other place. I try actually to get back this version which contains all generated fils and  which works correctly.
I copied the folder of the last version, before creating models, to ...DCs\sap.com\home and i tried to do an import in NWDS.
when i chose as import source: multiple existing projects into workspace, i can't see the folder to check it and when i use * Existing project into workspace* i can see it in the brows but when i chose it, i have the message Projects already exists
    any idea please?!
    Thanks
    Safae

    Thank you Rahul,
I deleted the new version from the folder .dtc\0\DCs\sap.com\home and i replace it by the latest version before importing the model. In NWDS i closed and opened the project again. The build is OK, but i don't know if the activity is ok( contains the current version of project) or I should do something for updating it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards.

  • Import existing projects into Workspace

I am creating new Workspace and trying to add my existing projects to it. I am pointing to a root directory and let Builder scan it. After scanning it shows some of my projects but not all of them. Why is that? also what is the right way of adding existing projects to the new Workspace?
    Thanks

  • Open/import existing project

I created an Oracle Web Service Project, and it is still in my eclipse workspace. I deleted it from the eclipse Project Explorer (not from disc).
How may I reopen the project?
Sorry to plug up the forum with such a silly question, but I can't find it.
    Thank you.

One option would be to try and to overlay eclipse project metadata on your existing project by creating a new project with the same name and location (on your file system) as your existing project. I haven't tried this with a Web Services project but have made this work for other types of projects - so your mileage may vary.
Basically, you use the same steps used when you first create a project and just make sure the name and location are the same as your existing project. The steps would be something like this...
    - Copy your existing project to your Eclipse workspace or a location where you want to maintain the project as an Eclipse project.
    - Launch OEPE and configure a runtime environment for the version of your WebLogic server. To do this, launch OEPE, select from the main menu bar options, "Window -> Preferences -> Server -> Runtime Environments" and then select "Oracle -> WebLogic Server XYZ" corresponding to the version of your server installation. You will enter the path to your WebLogic and Java home directory. This process will set up your Eclipse workspace for the proper runtime environment.
    - Select "File -> New -> ..." and the project type you want to create.
    - In the New Project wizard,...
    - Use the exact same name/location of your existing project in the wizard.
    - click "modify" to update the configuration and include the desired technology facets or update versions that are in your project.
    - depending on the wizard there may be an option to generate the web.xml deployment descriptor. It would be selected by default and you can override to so that it is not selected and the process will not overwrite your existing web.xml.
After completing the remaining pages of the wizard, the process will generate the required Eclipse metadata to the project and will refresh the project so that it now contains all the src and content files from the underlying sub folders. If it doesn't you can force a refresh (F5) on the project.
This is just a rough example and you may have to do some additional configurations for dependent libraries, etc.

  • Error while importing an existing project into workspace

    hi,
I am trying to import an existing project into workspace but getting an error 'vfamilychange' doest not have a .project file .But while checking into the folder structure of project vfamilychange' shows the .project file is already there.
    Please do suggest.

    Hi,
To correctly use the project in a new NWDS. Please use the following method (for Windows XP only):
1.) Navigate to the projects folder. This will be in the "DC" or "Local Development" folders in your "Documents and Settings" folder.
2.) Inside the project folder you will find an "_comp" folder.
3.) Zip this entire folder with WinZIP or WinRAR.
4.) Finally goto the new PC / Location of export. Unzip this archive into a new Folder.
5.) Open NWDS. Goto File->Import->Existing Project into Workspace.
6.) Select your folder (where you extracted the archive).
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks.

  • How to import existing ColdFusion project in the eclipse.

    Hi All,
I have exiting ColdFusion project in my local drive and I want to import it in Eclipse. I already have CFEclipse installed in Eclipse. Is there any step by step instruction to do this?
    Thanks

You should be able to copy the folder into your Eclipse workspace folder, then go to File--New--Project and select CFML Project (under CFEclipse).
If it is an existing Eclipse project, e.g. there is already a .project file in the folder, you can follow the steps at Importing Existing Projects.

  • Importing web project into Workshop 9.2

    Hi,
I'm trying to import an existing web project into Workshop 9.2.1 from my Subversion source. Unfortunately Workshop doesn't recognize this project as a valid web project.
I imported the code project using 'File>Import>Existing Projects' into Workspace.
Unfortunately, I get the following errors:
    - "The library module reference : beehive-netui-1.0 is not allowed from the classpath of a non-web project, only JAR,EJB, and EAR module types are allowed."
    - "The library module reference : jstl is not allowed from the classpath of a non-web project, only JAR,EJB, and EAR module types are allowed."
How do I tell Workshop that this project is indeed a web project?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Derrek

Wow.... I figured out a workaround (aka Ugly Hack). It seems that Workshop doesn't properly import Portlet projects. Here's how I got around it:
    1. Checkout the code from Subversion
    d:\MyProjects\Project\trunk\MyComponent\
    2. Move MyComponent to a temp directory
    d:\MyProjects\Project\trunk\MyComponent\ --> d:\tmp\MyComponent
    3. Open Workshop and create a new Portal project and PortalEAR project of the same name as the MyComponent projects
    File>New myComponentPortal
    4. Copy over the src and WebContent directories in the SVN directory with the files from tmp.
    d:\tmp\MyComponent\src -> d:\MyProjects\Project\trunk\MyComponent\src
    d:\tmp\MyComponent\src\WebContent -> d:\MyProjects\Project\trunk\MyComponent\WebContent
    5. Refresh Workshop and let the spooky voodoo happen. Viola! Now I've got a running portal project with a SVN connection.

  • Importing a project

    Hi all:
Just wondering if someone could provide any guidance on the following: I wish to import an open source project into Eclipse, however I have looked at the import instructions and I'm finding certiain parts difficult to understand, therefore I would appreciate any assistance someone may be able to supply. Here is the link to the site with the instructions: http://www.compiere.org/technology/build.htmlAs you will see this is an Open Source project and one I wish to work with, therefore any simplified instructions would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Oliver

    Hi:
    Yes, sorry about that.
Well when I said that I'm struggling, what I really meant is that I haven't a clue on how to open this project up and recompile! I have downloaded all of the source code, however when it comes to import a project I'm lost?
    They give the following advise:
    * Compile Compiere:
Note that you need outside of Eclipse in the utils_dev directory
    * Copy script myDevEnvTemplate.bat/sh to myDevEnv.bat/sh
    * Modify script myDevEnv for your environment
    * Use RUN_build to build compiere.
o Building Compiere with 1.5 will create warnings, but no errors.
    Setting up Eclipse
With the first step, you just download the sources in one go. You need to set up Eclipse projects and set variables to use Eclipse. If you want to completely build compiere from Eclipse, you also need to set up and use the Ant environment within Eclipse. Details are discussed in the Technical Training. Here are the principal steps:
    * Re-start Eclipse and create a new Workspace: C:\Compiere\compiere-all
    * File > Import > Existing Projects into Workspace
    o Root directory: C:\Compiere\compiere-all\tools
    * Repeat for all projects in build order (i.e. looks next)
    * You need to ser JDK Compliance to 5.0 and set the variables used
What I really need is something like: Click on File> New project, etc ...
    Many thanks

  • Flash Builder 4.5 - Flex (source code automatically changed after existing project import)

    Hi all!
Til yesterday, i was using FB v4.0 and it was perfectly working.
But now I'm under 4.5 and i have problem when importing my existing projects.
Now let me introduce the matter:
The entire project solution is located on my Desktop.
So, to import this, i go in FB in File>Import Project
Then i select "Project Repository" option and "Browse" button, then select the project on Desktop...
So.... import complete and SEEM TO BE successful
Unfortunately, from the IDE, when i double click on each source files, the code inside is not the expected one.
In fact, it looks as an older version of my code.
    Then, i exit totally FB4.5...
... and open my source files with a simple text editor, i can see that the original code (before import) has been changed by FB4.5...
    So, why???
    for example, this original code:
    * This is a generated class and is not intended for modification.  To customize behavior

    Well well,
I got some news about this problem....
Look like Flash Builder uses a ".FML" file to reference URL of all WebServices used in the project.
When replacements occurs, the updated values seem coming from this.

  • How to import existing eclipse Project to JDeveloper

    Hi,
previously I used to use Eclipse IDE. I have started to use Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 now. How can I import my existing Eclipse projects to JDeveloper? Please Note, I already have tried following options -
"Importing Existing Files into a New JDeveloper Project" from here - Working with Applications and Projects.
But, When I import the source files from existing Eclipse Projects to JDeveloper, I am not able to crease similar directory structure in the JDeveloper(in Application Navigator). As a result, I can not use my existing ANT build script to build my project[Though JDeveloper build my project, but I want to use manual ANT build.]
Moreover I don't want to change my existing directory structure as I am working on and existing project and I need to synchronize to my repository(Apache SVN).
Can any one help me in this - How can I import existing Eclipse Project to JDeveloper? Without any significant change in directory structure.
    Best Regards
    Chandramoulee

Well there are two options - if you have a WAR file with the code in it, then you can use the file->import WAR.
Or you can use the new->Project from source code.
