Importing existing site made in another app into iWeb

Hi,
Is it possible to import to iWeb a site created in RapidWeaver? Or, at somehow have any new iWeb site I do, and keep the work I did the in RW online.
I don't necessarily need to edit it, but I'd like to keep that RW site intact and available.
Also, Roddy, thanks for this link you put in another thread- I've got a lot to study:

No; iWeb cannot import existing sites. If you have the HTML and other files from RapidWeaver, store them on your hard disk, and then use iWeb to publish to a folder, posting those pages as desired.

  • Can I import web pages made on another computer to iWeb?

I have more than one Mac, and while in the hospital celebrating the birth of my son, I made a few pages on iWeb with my iBook.
Once home I wanted to transfer those to my G5 for editing. How do I do that?

    ilovetrainskc:
Yes you can do that. You can either merge the two Domain.sites files into one with iWebSites or use them independently by renaming one of the to SiteName.sites and then use iWebSites to open them independently and publish independently.
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
    Do you Twango?

  • Upload site to .Mac made in another app

Is it possible to upload a site made in another application to .Mac without disrupting an established iWeb site? I have a domain name for my club site (made in iweb '08) but have made other sites with another program. I am too frightened of losing the first site to even try!

You can put any webpage on iDisk, either in the Sites (= HomePage) folder or the Web>Sites (= iWeb) folder.
iWeb and HomePage create a index.html file in the root of the server.
You can overwrite the file if you want or leave it.
Best practice is to put your own pages in a folder of their own.
You have to experiment to see how iWeb/HomePage handle their files.
    Here's how I do it: http://web.mac.com/wyodor/

    Hi gadi b,
It sounds like you may want to create a form field in your PDF file, which your sales personnel can paste text into. You can use either Acrobat or Adobe FormsCentral to create PDF forms. For instructions, see FormsCentral Help | Create a form or Acrobat Help | Forms.

  • Import existing site to iweb?

I'm switching from pc to mac, and having some web publishing issues.
I've got a couple existing published websites that I'd like to import onto my mac and edit. I opened iweb to try it out, and I can't seem to simply open the existing site within iweb. Is that possible?
If that's not possible, can someone recommend an HTML editor? I use Dreamweaver on my PC, but don't want to shell out an additional $399 for the mac version.
    thanks.

I use BBEdit for all of my web development. It is very good but is geared towards advanced users.

  • Load site created on 1 computer into iweb of another?

i created a site for a friend in iweb on my own macbook and want to load it into iweb on his macbook so that he can maintain it. does anyone know how to do this? i tried loading the domain file from library/applications support/iweb, but he does not have an iweb folder in his applications support folder. any help would be appreciated
    macbookpro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

He doesn't have such a folder probably because he's not launched iWeb yet. Just have him create an iWeb folder there and put your Domain.sites file into it. When iWeb is then launched it will look in that folder and open the file.

  • How to include website made by another program in iWeb?

A program I have created a set of web pages for me that are connected. If I click on the index page, it opens in safari. How do I import these pages into iWeb so they work on my .mac website?

Clicking on index.html only open browser as you saw.

You can't import html code into iweb domain package.
iweb can't even import its own generated html code, therefore it will not be able to import html code created by other programs.
    That said, you can:
    1) rebuild your older site by copy and paste your old site into iweb.
    2) start new iweb project and link to the older site, using hyperlink.
now last and not really easy nor simple is to have javascript transforms the old page in to new iweb format. I'd done this over a year ago, I know it works with Safari, so stick with Safari when you want to see:

    iweb version: http://hdl.50webs.com/old2new/_bookmarks.html

  • Importing a DVD made on another machine

Is it possible to import a non-copyrighted DVD made elsewhere into I-movie or Final Cut Express. I've inserted the DVD and it plays fine in Quicktime Player. Is there anyway to get it directly into FCX?
    Thanks.

Thank you very much. I tried streamclip but couldn't make it work. I think I'll hook up my DVD player through my Analog/digital converter and import that way. Sounds simplest.

  • Will google list a splash page made within another website in iWeb?

I've tried submitting a website to google multiple times but they aren't picking it up/listing it. I'm wondering if that is because it is set up as a splash page within another website. I'm trying to get nateweldon.com listed, but it is built within the seaserpentrecords.com website I made in iWeb. It is a hidden page I've set up within seaserpentrecords.com to save money on hosting. Any tips to make nateweldon.com searchable in google?
Thanks so much for any help.
    Ellen

Where do you publish your website - MobileMe or another server?
Are you using masking to forward the domain name - nateweldon.com ?
Splash pages and masking are two of the things to be avoided with SEO.
If you have only one root folder on your server you need to publish the nateweldon site as a sub site with its own folder so that its URL is...
    http://www.seaserpentrecords.com/nateweldon/
Create and upload a sitemap.xml for the above URL and upload it to the nateweldon folder....

  • Importing other sites?

A million years ago when I used FrontPage, I was able to
download almost any regular HTML site on the internet. I used this
to study the coding and learn how other designers put things
together. I was able to do this without any login info or special
access - I simply clicked "import url XYZ" and the site downloaded.
Is there a way to do that with Dreamweaver? I still see sites
that I would love to study in-depth and learn how they did certain
things. I can muddle through the code using view source, but it's
    not quite as easy.

import existing sites from the www into dreamweaver... no.
there are software programs out there that allow you to do
that. Be careful of intellectual property infringement....

  • Inserting a Form Created in CoffeeCup Form Designer into iWeb...

    Hi all,
I created a web form in CoffeeCup's Flash Form creator (on my PC). The end result is 7 files and a section of code. I presume that I can insert the code as a snippet (I have version '08) but I'm unsure as to where to put the 7 associated files. In addition, this site is hosted on Go Daddy, not .Mac. Any tips on where/how in the folder architecture on my Mac to place the 7 files generated by CoffeeCup and does anyone know if there's anything funky I need to do to post this all to Go Daddy... Thanks in advance for any advice...

Yes, you can enter the Html code as a snippet, however, as far as I know you have wasted your time creating 7 pages with coffee cup as you will not be able to merge them into iWeb. Others have asked this same question and I don't think it is possible to merge web sites or pages created with other web site packages such as Dreamweaver into iWeb. You can't import in that way.
You will either need to use iWeb or coffee cup, but not both.
Use an ftp client to upload to GoDaddy. There are many - Fetch, Cyberduck or Transmit. You can do this in iWeb too.

  • Loading an existing app into XCODE?

Is there a way to load an existing app into XCODE to study it's code and learn how it was made without violating any copywrite laws?  Seems that would be a great way to learn how apps work.

The source code is not included in the app.
    Reverse engineering is a violation.
Best thing to do is just review and study the plethora of sample code on the paid developer site; barring that just use Google.
