Importing Flash animations

Hello there
I am about to start a project and the client would like to supply me with Flash animations. can I use these in FCP or does the client need to have these converted in to quick time movie files inorder for me to use them??
Also I am look to increse my storage with an external hard drive, I already have a WD MyBook 250GB USB 2.0 drive but i find that when running with FCP i get a lot of dropped frames I belive that this is down to the data transfer rate through the usb2.0 port, My MacBook pro 15 wide is the 2.0ghz & only has a firewire 400 port should I get a epresscard with a firewire 800 port on it and get A firewire 800 drive? or can i get by with a firewire400 drive? I live in the uk and my budget for the HD is about £250. sorry if this question is in the wrong forum..
Thanks for you help and advice
Dai

Your client can export from Flash by choosing File>Export Movie and selecting QuickTime Video as the format. The Animation compressor is a good codec and supports 32 bit alpha if needed.
As for the dropped frames, I would guess USB is the culprit. A Firewire 400 drive would be a good start.
Good luck.

  • Importing Flash Animations Into iWeb...

I noticed that in the few days I have had the privilege of using iWeb, I have noticed that Flash animations that I have created only show up as links on the page, and not actual Flash animations (meaning, when wanting to show the Flash animations on a website, they only show up as a small link, and don't automatically run on the website....
So, my question is this: Does iWeb support Flash animations? If so, how do you import them into iWeb without them simply showing up as links? Thanks in advance for your swift response....

Just any theme download from a site is not enough. The 3rd party themes must be designed specifically for iWeb and, as such, should have an installer included.
Otherwise, start with either the white, black, or formal themes and use graphic files from those themes to create a custom design.

  • Importing Flash Animation into Captivate

I am trying to Import an animation from flash 8 into
Captivate. It allows me to do this however the frame rate of the
animation which was created in flash when imported to Captivate
changes. Does anyone know how change the frame rate of the
    animation in captivate.

Hi laxmi1 and welcome to the community
Hopefully when you created your Flash animation, you
    published as Flash 6 output.
I believe the standard frame rate for Flash is 12. Captivate
is 30. So you can either bump the Flash rate up to 30 and
re-publish, or in Captivate, you can adjust the frame rate to match
Flash and set it for 12. To do this, click Movie >
Preferences... > Preferences tab. From there, it should be quire
    obvious what to do.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Importing Flash animation into Catalyst

Is Catalyst yet capable of importing and using movie clips made in flash, or it can only use static images on layers from Photoshop and Illustrator?  If not, I'd like to say that I really like the idea of making Flash animation movie clips how I usually do, but then being able to utilize them in the Catalyst environment.  So for example le't say I want to create rollover animations for buttons, could I make that in Flash and then bring that into Catalyst?
Also, do I need CS4 to use Catalyst?  Thanks.

    Hi,
Creating transitions in Flash Catalyst does not require writing any ActionScript code.  Although animation in Flash Catalyst is most commonly created via state transitions, you can also create animation without states by using an action sequence (which you can trigger from any interaction, just like a state transition).
Here are some video tutorials introducing animation in Flash Catalyst:

  • Importing Flash Animation AS3 into Captivate 3.0

I have some animations and interactions that were written in
Flash AS3, that work fine when published in a SWF file and run with
FlashPlayer 9, but they don't work at all when I import them into
Captivate 3.0. In Captivate, they seem to run when they apear in
the in the Insert -> Animation dialog box., but then once they
are placed in Captivate, they don't show up at all when I Preview
-> Project (F4). The dialog box says that the duration of the
animation is 00:00:00.1 (i.e., one tenth of a second!). What was on
the stage (from the Flash file) shows up, but none of the AS3 code
    works. Help!!

If you create an AS3 widget in Cp4, you'll notice that is starts you off using a template.  Most of the action takes place on the onEnterFrame event handler.  If you want something specific to occur at a certain time, you must place a condition for either the current slide, or the current frame.  Otherwise, the actions you describe above will occur... you animation AS3 code just executes immediately because Cp doesn't know when to execute it otherwise .  I'd suggest that you either use the widget framework, or place a condition in your code for executing on a specific frame or slide.  When I create widgets, I check for a specific frame:
    if (mainmov.rdinfoCurrentFrame  == currentFrameCheck) {
         //your code here
If you go this route, I'd look into another function called AddNoSkipFrame which ensures Cp4 will not skip over the frame you're trying to check.  You can read more about it here.  And there's a thread about it here.
    Good Luck,

  • Import flash animation into edge animate

    Hi,
I need to import a flash vector cartoon style animation into edge animate, do you know how can I do it?
    Kind regards,
    eugenxi

    Hi eugenxi,
You can use the Export Png Sequence feature included with Flash CS6 to export a series of pngs from your symbol animation (tut by Tom Green):
    http://layersmagazine.com/png-sequence-from-flash-cs6.html
Then import the pngs to Fireworks, and use John Dunning's plugin to export a symbol directly to Edge Animate:

  • Can we import Flash into Edge Animate

    Hi
I would like to know if we can import Flash animation into Edge Animate and into Muse

    Hi Dan,
There is no such workflow as far as I know. However, Animate does support native HTML5 videos.

  • When importing a flash animation into captivate flash will not call external files

Is there a way to import flash into captivate and it still be able to call external files (ie. sound, video xml)? When I import flash into captivate it will not call any external file.

    Hi all
Wow, I was so hoping fellow Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst would pop in on this thread.
Why? Well, Paul sent me a way cool gizmo a while back that hacked the Info button. It used an external file for some of the information! So somehow Paul managed to sort what it took to insert a Flash object into Captivate and have that object extract data from an externally located file.

  • Importing flash as3 animation: stop commands are ignored in Captivate

I have created a Flash animation in Flash CS5 which has some interactive buttons to go to frames and then stop. The problem is Captivate seems to ignore the stop commands.
When I preview in Flash it works fine, when I preview in Captivate it just keeps on going.
I can't use a click box because I need the user to click one of my interactive buttons to then continue to the nect part of the animation.
I am not a programmer and have just started using Adobe CS5 master edition.
I can add bits of actionscript provided I know how and where :-)
all help for a a dumbo newbie appreciated.....

If your Flash animations are published as AS3, make sure your Captivate movie is also set to publish as AS3 in the Preferences.
    Does that do anything?

  • How Can I Make a Flash Animation for TV?

I'm learning flash animation and am wondering once I save the flash file to a dvd format, how does the end-user navigate when they put the dvd into their TV? Do I need to design and incorporate a menu for the end-user? If so, how does the TV remote control navigate through this menu that was created on a Mac computer? Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

I don't know a lot about this subject but thought I'd give it a shot to answer.  You can use Adobe Encore to create menu systems for your DVD title screen.  As far as Flash is concerned I think you can import your animations into Encore's menu system though I'm not exactly sure how.  If you want to just make an animation that will be played back without interactivity you would just export your Flash animation as a Quicktime MOV file and import it into After Effects for further editing and finishing.  Once you render your mp4 (h.264) from AE you can bring this into Encore to author for your DVD.

  • Embedding a Flash animation in a Flash Site

I'm looking for a solution to the following problem. I am
developing my website in Flash and I would like to show examples of
interactive flash animations I have developed. I imported my my
.swf animation to my flash site library, but when I drag and drop
it to the stage the following happens:
    1. The animation plays from frame to frame without stopping.
    2. Elements which were hidden (off the stage) in the
animation now show up on the stage.
    3. When I open the animation in edit view (double click the
animation on the stage) the entire animation appears as individual
    frames on one timeline.
I would like to maintain the interactivity of the animation
on the site (i.e. buttons, tool tips) and I suspect there is a way
to embed the animation in the flash site while in flash.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

You don't really want to add new files that way. In addition
to the problems that you list, you will also be making one, large,
file. This means that it will take longer to download, and possibly
    play poorly.
You should keep these independent .swf files as they are, and
"import" them using either AS2's loadMovie() or AS3's URLRequest()
to bring each file into your movie.

  • Slowing down an imported Flash file

    Hi,
Using Insert - Animation, I've imported a file with an .swf extension. My only problem is that it is playing too fast in my Captivate movie. Outside of Captivate, it plays slower.
What options do I need to tweak in order to change its playing speed?
    Thanks very much in advance.

Hello, this is indeed the cause for the speed of the imported Flash. I do not think you can change this in Captivate. If it was produced in Flash, you have to change it in Flash itself. I do not believe you want the speed of the CP changed from 30fps to 380fps.

  • Get border when resizing flash anim in dreamweaver

Hello, I'm needing some help , I'm not sure weather its something i'm doing in dreamweaver or weather I need to export the flash anim with the document properties just a little bit smaller than the flash anim when exporting when in theory shouldn't have to do?
the problem I'm having is I export a flash anim out of flash I make sure the document properties and the flash anim line up so theres no visible boarder when exiting.
when I'm at the button stage and drag onto the stage to be able to export, ( sometimes I find that the flash border - say if my anim is 220 by 185 . when i click on it (dragged button with movie inside from libarary to stage)
the stage - as I am told I can't export a flash anim with an alpha white off the flash stage I have to make the stage the same size as the button -
So i make the stage size 220 by 185 when I'm dragging the button to line up to the stage I find sometimes its off?
Is there a better way to export a flash anim as it is without having to change stage properties then dragging the button to fit the stage then get url options ect.
anyways. I am finding that I am having to make the stage size (in flash ) a few extra pixels smaller than the box button 220 by 185 so what i'm doing is making the stage say 218 by 183 to then draggin the button inbetween the lines on the doccument border in flash. then exporting.
I find if i Don't do this sometimes in dreamweaver, when I open dreamweaver instert app div then import swf into the app dif then resize the swf I get a boarder.
But even then I find sometimes if i do an app div then insert media swf and resize the swf i get a border, say if i make the boarder properties in flash red.
sometimes I get a red boarder.
but on other pages say i have a about page I resized it its fine then on another page import app dive then impor the exact same swf file resize it it suddenly gets a boarder (i'm testing using red backround in flash when exporting as a movie.
why do sometimes I get a boarder around swf in an app div when importing into dreamweaver.
    thanks kindly

I read this twice and still don't quite know what you're asking.  Flash questions are best posted in the Flash forum.
Animations used in Web pages should be sized appropriately before you bring them into Dreamweaver.   Same goes for static images.  If you need a 200px wide banner, design it at 200px wide.
As for APDivs, honestly don't know why you would need one. A regular CSS division (no positioning) is all that's required for 98% of layouts.   http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
For answers to layout questions, we need a link to your test page.

  • Flash animations are out of the flash window limit ...

When I place a flash animation in power point using breeze
presenter, and I publish the presentation it is possible to see the
animations that are out of the flash window limit …
What can I do to make the breeze respect the flash limits and
hide the animations outside those limits?
    Thanks!

Just out of curiosity....is it possible that you've got
elements in flash that begin OFF the flash stage and then animate
    ONTO it?
There was a *funky* artifact of creating flash animations
that played very strangely when imported into Breeze; there was a
tech note about this, but I haven't found it recently. If your
flash animation *must* be 200 x 200, then what I'd try is this:
In flash, create a mask layer and be sure to have all other
layers become masked by it. I realize that without seeing your
animation, that it's probably "easier said than done"... However,
the thing to note here is that by masking the stage in flash (and
thus all the elements animated within it), you'll effectively kill
the visibility of all visual elements that are off the stage.
For what it's worth, I'd be happy to assist if you need
further help. Just drop me a note using the private message
function, or email me at [email protected]
