Importing FLV into FLA?

Is there ever a time you would want/need to import a FLV into
Flash over
some other video format?
Thanks.

I think this may be a compatibility issue... try exporting
the video as an AVI file.

  • Trouble importing FLV into flash - keep gettingan error

Hello all, I'm hopping that someone else has had this problem
before. I'm a long time user of Flash but have just downloaded the
the newest version (CS3) to try it out. I was really looking
forward to the video capabilities. ANYWAY, I'm on a new IMac,
running OSX version 10.4.11. I downloaded and installed the newest
version of flash. I created an FLV with some video that I had and
I'm attempting to import it into a flash file. I get through all of
the steps and it appears to be importing but then I get this error.
    "Error opening file; Library/Application Support/Adobe
    FlashCS3/en/Configuration//JavaScript/DeployVideo.jsfl" I went to
this location on my computer and the "Adobe FlashCS3" folder isn't
even there. It's like it wasn't even installed. I've re-installed
the software twice. Anyone know what the deal is. Thanks in
    advance.

how do you convert it to a prores file in compressor. I cant figure out that program at all.
If you have a movie file that you wish to compress, launch Compressor.
Once Compressor is open, go to the upper left-hand corner of the project window and select Add File.
It will open up a window in which you can browse all available storage spaces.
Select a file. Once you have done so, then assign a conversion setting from available ones and a destination for the encoded files
    Hit submit.

  • Importing flv into CS6 issues

I brought this up durring the pre-release but still can't seem to get any resolution to the fact that perfectly valid flv files that play just fine accross multiple other software, give a "file haas nsupported compression type" error when trying to import into Premiere.  I have recieved this with other formats in the past that required me to install additional codecs, but I would think flv being native to Adobe should import.  In CS5 I had similar issues but used to be able to import them into AE and then bring the AE sequence into PP as a work around, but can't seem to make that work in CS6.  I noticed in searching the forum that this was an issue for many in older versions, but didn't see any recent ones or any real solution.  Any insight would be appreciated!

FLV support is only partial, as there are several "flavors" of FLV. My memory is cloudy, but IIRC, FLV's with Sorenson Spark will not Import, where others with CODEC's, such as On2 VP6, etc. will. FLV is but a container, like .AVI, but with far fewer possibilities.
For the FLV's, that do not Import, which CODEC was used?

  • Not able to import .FLV into Welcome Page in Acrobat Portfolio

    Hello,
I would like to import either an FLV or an SWF file into the Welcome Page of an Acrobat Portfolio. It does not work if I import an FLV, and it only half works if I import an SWF.
I've put together a video illustrating the problems I have. I am not sure if 1. my expectations are too high, 2. there is a bug in Acrobat Professional, or if 3. There is a mistake in the documentation.

  • Importing mp4 into Flash 8, converting to FLV

I just finished taking a Flash Video class where I understood
I could import an MP4 and convert in to an FLV using encoding tools
that come with Flash Professional 8. However, I opened a new FLA
just now and tried to import an MP4 (File -> Import Video),
Flash would not recognize the sample MP4 I have sitting on my
    desktop.
I downloaded a demo copy of On2 FlixPro and it did recognize
the MP4, is converting it to an FLV as I write this.
Did I misunderstand about importing MP4s into Flash 8
Professional? Is it in fact not possible. Or might there have been
something I didn't do or didn't do correctly before importing? If
so, what might it have been?
    Thanks in advance.

The MP4 file extension does not appear in the filetype
    filter of the
Import dialog, but if you select "All Files (*.*)," that
    should work. I've
imported MP4s (they're MPGs, after all), but the extension
    doesn't appear
under the "All Video Formats" choice. (I'm hoping this is
    what you mean by
    "would not recognize," anyway.)

  • Does the FPS in the .fla document effect the FPS in an imported .flv?

I think this may be related to another post I have, but I'm
    not sure?
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=194&threadid=1265662&CF ID=45109516&CFTOKEN=f5a4ce0585fae4f3-66834EE8-E724-5FA7-C13B0CE0CCCB7A67&jsessionid=48305c 133dfd755d2f3b
Does the FPS in the .fla document effect the FPS in an
imported .flv? I notice the default FPS in a .fla is 12, but i
think most of my imported .flv are about 30 fps, will this effect
anything or does the flv overwrite the fla?
    Thanks!

The FLV will play slow or fast if the rate is not the same as
the fla file. If you import the file but select the progressive
streaming method, the frames rates are separate for the flv and fla
and don't effect each other. That is the method you want to choose
most of the time, and it doesn't require a special server.

  • Importing a .flv into fcp

Is it possible to import an .flv into fcp? and if so, how?

You need to convert the flv to a format that can be imported into FCP. You can use with MPEG-Streamclip to convert the flv.

    And it's free!!!
Quicktime Pro can convert the video but not the audio.

  • Imported FLV Publish Compression Settings?

I have a 5.2 meg FLV video a client has sent me. They want a
getURL script at the end of the clip so the Web browser goes to a
Web page after the clip is finished playing. To do this, I imported
the FLV into a Flash FLA document as "Embed video in SWF and play
    in timeline".
When I export this, the SWF is 5.2 megs, like the imported
FLV. The JPEG Publish Settings don't affect that.
Is there a way to compress imported FLV files?
    Thanks!

The FLV file is already compressed but need not be placed in
    the FLV file
creating the large file size. Rather, play the FLV as an
    external source.
Done this way, the compiled SWF file can be kept quite small.
See the FLVPlayback component in the ActionScript 2.0

  • Need to import .swf into Flash 8 project

I'm working on a project that requires me to use an already
made .swf file in it. I'm creating the whole project (which is a
presentation) strictly in Flash 8. This project requires a user to
be able to navigate through various menus and categories to see
what's in them. Most of the categories have a slide-show of images
that are accompanied by a voice over sound track that explains to
them what they're watching; however, for other categories I already
have a previously created .swf file that I need to import into
Flash 8. The issue that I've noticed when I just import the .swf
file into Flash is that the file plays at about 100x the original
speed. I think that it is because Flash looks at this file as one
frame and tried to play everything all at once. I also looked into
the possibility of trying to the loadMovie() function, but that is
not that convenient for me because this requires me to decompile
the .swf file into .fla and edit it so that a user has a way of
coming back to the main menu of the presentation from that movie,
unless there is a function parameter of loadMovie() similar to
HTML's "_blank" where a new window opens so that the user can close
this window without having to worry about restarting the
presentation. I hope that what I'm doing is clear, and I'm very
much open to any suggestions about what I should do about it or any
other ways of doing what I'm trying to achieve, which is to be able
to play already-made .swf files in my Flash project. To give more
details on these .swf files, they were originally created in Adobe
Captivate and exported into .swf. They play perfectly when you play
them, but it's just that there is an issue when I try to play them
from my Flash project. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Braulio
a good tutorial site can be found at
    http://www.kirupa.com
and also, look in your Flash Docs, for loadClip() and
loavMovie() methods. They should get you started on some ideas to
    import external content.

  • Can No Longer Drag JPG files From Finder Directly Into .fla Stage?

For the past six months I have been following a manual process to convert JPG files (exported from InDesign) into SWF files for display advertising assets.
Using pre-built FLA files as templates (configured with clicktags):
Open FLA templates (3 separate files for 3 IAB ad sizes)
Drag JPG from Finder directly into stage of FLA file, aligned to
Publish to output folder for renaming
Today, for no apparent reason, I can no longer drag anything into the stage of any FLA file.  Not just the pre-built templates.  Nothing will drag & drop into an FLA stage.
    What I have tried:
    Restarted Mac
    Reset Flash preferences
What I know I can still do:
Drag files from Finder into the Library, and drag into FLA stage from there
    "File > Import to Stage..."
This works but because of my naming convention it prompts to import them all each time because Flash sees the sequence
This is not another step I am willing to contend with for my manual workflow
Me and my creative team need to process hundreds of assets like this each week, so I'm very anxious to discover why functionality that was working, suddenly stopped.
    Running:
    MacBookPro Retina OS X 10.8.5
    Flash CS6 v. 12.0.2.529

just want to add my annoyance to the pile here. I can't see any logic behind removing the drag and drop function, especially when adding a new folder is now a multi-step process that is far from obvious. to start a new playlist with local folder content you now need to:enter settingsclick into advanced settings (basically all settings now seem to be "advanced"?)manually find and add the foldergo through the adventure of finding the files in your library.
-- because they may or may not be listed under "local files" - you won't know because Ctrl+F is also removed. so you have to remember/know what the album you added is called and search for that. if you have a mixed bag of file names from various albums, you're basically shafted; there's no way to find them all with a single search.then you can add them to playlisteta: but wait! there's more! if you have more than 15 files? you're **bleep** out of luck, because the search will only display the first 15 hits among your local files, and then show you spotify library tracks.I can't help but feel as though spotify is doing everything they can to stop us using spotify to listen to local files, as bugs that make it more or less impossible persist through multiple versions - and now features that seem to me to be basic functionality are being removed?mega minus points from someone who's been using spotify since 2008.

  • I'm no longer able to successfully import SWFs into AE

Hi and apologies for the NOOB question. I've been searching for hours for information on this situation but have had no luck.
I've been using AE CS5 since last year, primarily to convert SWFs into high quality MOVs. Everything was working fine until bbout 3 weeks ago. Since thenm whenever I import a SWF, it displays  in the Project area as a 72px black box without any data regarding dimensions or file size.
I can open older files and everything displays fine, but if I try to import a SWF (or even one that worked before), it shows up as the 72px black square.
I'm guessing that it may have been an inadvertant upgrade of some sort that caused this, but have no idea how to solve it. I'm running AE 10.0.2.4 on a MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo) running OS 10.6.8.
If anyone can help me resolve this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    thanks,
    Mike

Well, I've resolved the problem, kinda.
I uninstalled Flash CS5 and AE CS5 last night, then reinstalled them. I then opened one of the AE files with the "junk" SWF in it, and nothing had changed.
I then tried to import one of the questionalbe SWFs into AE on another machine and the same problem. But I could import a SWF made on that machine into AE (running on that system).
Then I brought that SWF back to my system, and was able to successfully imported it into AE. I then imported one of the questionable SWFs made before the software reinstall, and got the 72px black square. So I opened the FLA made a new SWF and happened to move it to the desktop. I was able to successfully import that SWF.
This is where it gets weird. I then made a new SWF and left it in the local folder with the FLA and tried to import it. black box again. I then drag-copied that SWF back to the desktop and I was able to import that.
So at the moment, it seems to have something to do with the location of the SWF in relation to the AE file? That's the best that I can figure at the moment. Though I'm not sure why this would, or should, be a factor. I wish I had tried this before doing all the software uninstall/reinstalls… but I never would have thought that it could have been an issue.
Thanks again for your prompt input yesterday.

  • Flash FLV into FCP

    Hi there,
Is there a way of getting a flash video from a website and importing it into FCP? I have downloaded the flv file but i cannot import it into FCP. Is there a plugin or technique for this?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Yes, install this:
    http://perian.org/
and then FLVs can import into FCP as if they were QuickTime.

  • Import FLV Files--Perian

I keep receiving errors when I try to import flv files into iTunes. Is there any possible way to actually import these.
If no...I am curious as to how I imported one...just one!?!?! I downloaded using TubeTV. I don't know if this makes a difference, but when I downloaded a few from Safari, they would not import.
    Shniba

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you're on an interesting path to discovery
Some web browsers do different things with the same download operations behind the scenes. For example, downloading .bin images (from microsoft.com/mac, for example) with OmniWeb results in .bin images being saved to the default download folder, while using Safari results in .dmg files directly useable by OS X. Perhaps the TubeTV application you mention does some similar work to change the format of Flash Video files without doing any actual video recompression.
My wildest/best guess at this point is that perhaps, since Flash Video is indeed capable of using QuickTime-compatible H.264 video and AAC audio, certain files may be inherently playable by QuickTime and other QuickTime-based applications, regardless of the presense of the .flv file extension. If this were true, it would at least partially explain why certain (but not all) Flash Video files would open with iTunes. Again, this is just wild guess, and I personally just use VLC to play these files.
