Importing Foreign Exchange Rates Automatically

Hi,
Is it possible to automatically import exchange rates in SAP Business One on a predefined schedule ?

Hello,
you could do that by using UI/DI addon. It is better use it since there is no standard feature to do that in SAP B1

  • Imported PO exchange rate - commitment amount reduction on GR

    Hello Experts,
I have created imported PO with account assignment to WBS element and changed the foreign exchange rate (FER) to 50. Since the unit rate was $100 (Foreign Currency) and Qty. was 2 nos., system had increased commitment value by value 10000.
Current FER is 40, which is maintained in currency table.
When GR is taken for Qty.1, system has reduced commitment value by 4000. Hence, system now shows the balance commitment value is equal to 6000. (report S_ALR_87013558)
Ideally, commitment value should have been 5000 only.
Hence, commitment values always shows incorrect picture. Please suggest...how to overcome this problem....
Note: We donot want fixed exchange rate as we want MIGO and MIRO to happen at current rate (not with FE rate maintained at PO).
    Regards,
    Abhishek

Thanks for your advice Mr. Atif,
My client needs to be changed ER in MIRO level also, same value needs to be paid to vendor. When ever will go to f-53, if will process the open item, it is not matching to actually liability created values.
In this case how to proceed further.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Convert dollars in a spreadsheet to a foreign exchange rate

Is it possible to convert the numbers that I have in U S dollars in a spreadsheet that
I need to convert to a foreign exchange rate.
If possible can someone please let me know or steer me to a web link that has the instructions.
    Thank you,
    Greg

As jaxjason wrote, we must know a site offering conversion rates to be able to give you an automatic soluce.
Maybe someone is able to trace the way the calculator grabs the conversion rates.
This French site converts returns the value of 1 EURO in dollars.
    http://fr.finance.yahoo.com/convertisseur/convert?amt=1&from=EUR&to=USD&submit=C onvertir
but I don't know the way to force it to download in a csv file.
    There is a second problem.
The downoaded file is named quotes.csv like the one used to grab the quotes.
It will be necessary to find a way to switch the file treatment given the doc's contents.

  • Exchange rate automatic update in Sale Order

    Dear All,
This is regarding Exchange rate automatic update in Sale Order and requirement said below.
    Process:
User will created a Export Sale order in the month of November , that time Exchange rate is 50.00, this  will
get updated in Sale order Header and Item level.
But user will create billing in the month of December , at that time Exchange rate is 40.00. So in Billing
document Header level exchange rate will be 40.00 (Current rate) and Item level exchange rate will be
    50.00.
    Requirement:
User requirement is like this the current exchange rate 40.00 to be updated in Sale Order Header and Item
level automatically, because user using  Sale order Exchange rate  for Z-Report.
As of now user manually updating Exchange rate in Sale Order.
Let me know if there is any solution.
    Regards
    S Kumar

I dont think this is possible.  You should be aware any change in subsequent document would not have any impact in the preceding document which means, whatever exchange rate flowing in billing cannot be updated in sale order.  May you can update your zee table by considering the billing document exchange rate by way of exit.
    thanks

  • Update exchange rates automatically

    Hi,
We are a mid sized company moving into SAP. We have operations only in USA or Canada. We want to automatically update the exchange rates in the system. There are services out there like Ruetuers etc that provide this. Given the size of our company and given that we operate only in two currencies, I am wondering if there is a cost effective way of updating these automatically?.
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Chandra.
I use this forum a lot for configuration issues and perhaps I can give something back.  Many years ago I worked on an upload feed for foreign currency (OB08) using a Reuteru2019s service and in the end, it was decided it wasnu2019t worth the cost.
Actually, there is a u201Cinexpensive solutionu201D which was quite easy to write and test.  One can write an Excel macro that goes to the service http://www.oanda.com/currency/historical-rates, collects rate combinations (e.g., EUR to USD), generates a file on the PC, which can then be uploaded directly into SAP using transaction TBDM (program RFTBFF00.)  The exercise requires the following inputs:  exchange rate type (e.g., M or P), the from/to currency combinations, the currency date, and a path and file name as to where to place the generated file on the PC.
The Excel macro has three routines:  a main driver that processes through the various from/to currency combinations, a routine that is a web query that actually goes to the internet address and obtains the currency exchange rate, and a routine that creates a fixed-length field required by the program.  These fixed-length fields are appended to one another to create a record.  The file specification is identified using the u201Cblue u2018iu2019u201D box when selecting documentation for the program RFTBFF00 and reviewing topic u201CStructure for transferring exchange rates (data class 01).u201D
Some companies may require an average rate based on an interval; the spreadsheet could be modified to collect this information and then do the necessary manipulation in preparation for an upload.  If necessary, the macro and the SAP upload can be automated.  The finance department must be comfortable with the rates provided by the internet site, but this is usually the case if applied on a consistent basis.
There may be some configuration work:
u2022     Flag u201CInvu201D box (transaction OB07) for the relevant currency exchange rate types so that both direct and indirect currency relationships are possible.  This is to allow for greater precision (e.g., EUR to USD results in a reasonable precision, whereas USD to INR is probably better for greater precision than INR/USD.)
u2022     If the proper translation ratio is other than 1:1 such as JPY (100:1), then the macro would have to be slightly modified because it currently assumes all currencies are 1:1.  Also, the proper currency combinations must be input into this table (e.g., EUR/USD, USD/INR, etc.)
The advantage is that the currency rates are under the companyu2019s control, not an outside service, whose only cost is the internet connection, and the exchange rates can be done without human intervention.  The solution is also flexible enough to modify if the need arises.

  • Import Procurement: Exchange rate:

    Dear Experts <
Pls tell me what is the role of exchange rate while making an imported procurement:
1.Ex rate in PO: The PO is made in INR , item price is put in USD , the system calculates the other duties n taxes in INR based on the exchange rate prevailing in the system at the time og saving the PO .
    eg. Basic Price USD 100,
system ex rate at the time of PO :45 hence basic price in INR 4500/-
    tax ( say CVD) @ 10 % is INR 450/-
2.Bill of entry is done at the exchange rate prevailing at the time of unloading the goods at the custom house.
    Basic Price USD 100
Ex Rate considered by customs : 50
    Material price 100x50 =5000
cvd @ 10%= 500/- . Thiws is the duty paid to the customs (NOT Rs 450/- as in PO) & hence this
amount is MANUALLY booked in MIRO as planned delivery cost.
    3. Goods Receipt: GR is made against the PO with ref to the customs MIRO:
Here the cost of goods is taken from PO ie Rs 4500/- & tax as Rs 500/-
    4. Payment to the import Vendor : MIRO is done in USD.
        Goods Cost : 100 USD
Ex Rate in the system at the time of making this MIRO : 55/-
The system in this case debits the cost of goods in INR  by a difference of 55-45 ie INR 1000/-
I am confused as in what should be the exchange rate in what document & what is the actual material cost in INR .
    Pls give ur opinions.
    Regards
    Anis

    Hi
system unless entered manually during ME21N or during MIRO takes the value of  Exchange rate fromthe reference table OB08 only no where else. You may try all combinations during your PO creation it will refer the OB08 rate only since we can not enter the exchage rate during MIGO.
Similarly it will refer the OB08 table for the exchange rate of the day if the table is updated regularly on a day to day basis.

  • Import cycle-exchange rate/local currency

    Dear Gurus,
In Import cycle,we have followed following cycle.
    1)  Created PO.
    2) Released the PO.
    3) Now we have done MIGO.
NB: We have maintained exchange rate USD in the PO.exchange rate in PO is 148(local currency) = 1 USD.
In OB08 we have exchange rate as 130(local currency)=1USD.
In PO we have maintained Clearing Agent and Custom duty payment but when doing  MIRO for clearing agent and Custom duty values are picked from OB08 ie 130(local currency)=1USD.
My Client wants the value in MIRO for  Clearing Agent and Custom duty be picked from PO and also it should be in local currency.
What are setting to be done for the above cycle, please guide me with your valuable inputs.
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi
During MIRO you can input the value of invoice in Local currency and select the local currency in the field currency. Also if you have maintained individual condition types for the clearing charges and customs duty, then you can attach the vendor code of the clearing agent and customs duty for these condition types. Anyhow, the currency in those vendor codes will be local currency only and hence you can post in local currency.

  • BILLING TO ACCOUNTING - FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATE IN THE PAST

    Hi All,
    1.     In FI, we are maintaining translation rates on regular basis and the translation (FI)/ pricing (SD) date is our reference in SD transactions from Contract to Billing.
    2.     In Contract, we maintain foreign currency, exchange rate, and pricing date.  Here in the contract, we are currently billing an item in the past using exchange rate in the past as well.
    3.             However, when we pass this to billing, pricing date is updated on its current date.
    4.             Because of this, accounting entry that was recognized was also translated on current date.
Is there any way that we can change the pricing date to the Billing Document so that the accounting entries will pick up translation rates maintained in the past.  Please advise.

The issue was resolved by also maintaining exhange rate inside SO/Contract in "Exchange-Rate Accounting" field.

  • Foreign exchange rate issue

    Hi all
Has anyone come across this issue before? If so, any guidance on how you resolved this would be much appreciated.
I have Plants Abroad active and I have a company code in France with a local currency as EUR but a foreign plant in the UK with a country currency of GBP.
France uses a Central bank rate but the UK allows for a market rate to be used.  In the UK you can also produce invoices in a currency other then GBP as long as you show the exchange rate used and amount in GBP.
When you receive a USD invoice you are required to match the exchange rate used by the Vendor in order for your country currency tax amount to equal the amount in GBP on the invoice (i.e. you reclaim what the vendor has charged). However, when entering the incoming invoice under your UK VAT registration there is no field to enter the exchange rate used by the Vendor on the invoice as the only manual exchange rate field available is used for transaction currency (USD) to company code currency (EUR). Therefore your country currency tax amount will differ to the Vendor and this is incorrect.
    Thanks

    Hi Aldo
    Thanks for your reply.
I'm using FB60, Post Vendor invoices.
The problem is SAP will only convert the doc currency USD to local currency EUR. However, I need to capture the exchange rate used by the supplier (specified ont he invoice) to mirror the VAT amount on the invoice, which is in GBP.
Legally, the VAT amount must be shown in GBP, but the doc currency can be in any currency, e.g. USD.
I hope this clarifies the issue.
    Thanks
    John

  • Foreign Exchange Rate Type - M and EURO

    Hi All,
My customer is maintainng the M exchange rate type as
    1 USD = 106 JPY
along with this they are maintiaing a extra Exchange rate Type EURO as
    106 JPY = 1 USD
    Comany Code Currency is JPY.
In the document Type level they are not maintaing any of the exchage rate type. Means system is picking default exchnage rate type. As we know M is the default exchange rate type.
So, now customer doesnt want to maintain the EURO exchange rate type.
    So,  i want to know
    1. if customer not want to maintain the EURO exchange rate then it would give any impact on the working.
2.Is any realtion between to maintain the two exchnange rate type.
    3. On a document level, can we know that by using which exchnage rate it was processed. whether its was processed from M or EURO. We want to know the Exchange rate type of each document.
    4. In M Exchane rate type we have both Direct and Indirect Quotation for same currency pair. So in this case which qutation system would take for the document processing as default quotation for a exchange rate type M.
    Looking for early response.
    Sachin

    1. if customer not want to maintain the EURO exchange rate then it would give any impact on the working.
<There is no impact as long as this is not used by any other applications. For eg, In controlling, project system, budget, at FI document type level etc, we have option of choosing different exchange rate.
2.Is any realtion between to maintain the two exchnange rate type.
    No relation
    3. On a document level, can we know that by using which exchnage rate it was processed. whether its was processed from M or EURO. We want to know the Exchange rate type of each document.
< You can see this at Table level eg - BKPF. But at front end I dont think it is possible atleast upto 4.6C4. In M Exchane rate type we have both Direct and Indirect Quotation for same currency pair. So in this case which qutation system would take for the document processing as default quotation for a exchange rate type M.
<To my knowledge, System will not allow to maintain rates in both types. so question of option doesnt come>

  • Foreign Exchange rate for INR to EURO

    Hello,
I want to maintain Exchange rate for INR to EURO.
What exchange rate type "m", "EURX" or "EURX" is relevant for the conversion of INR to EURO.
How to maintain direct & indirect rate for the same ? I understand that system is not accepting rates maintained in "Direct Quote" coloumn.
    Thanks & Rgds
    Dwijendra

    Dear Venkatesh,
For exchange rate from INR to EURO, system will not take rates maintained under exchange rate type "m". It only considers exchange rate type "EURX".
    Hope I am clear.

  • MIRO - Import PO exchange rate amount is booked in wrong Account

    Hi expert,
In case of Import PO while doing MIRO , Ex. difference should be loaded to Material or consumption as per the stock level. Some where it is loaded & some where it is heat the cost in Ex. diff unrealized
Client requirement is should always be go to Consumption / Material Account
Please tell me how to solve this probem.
    thanks
    gkumar

    Hi,
If yur import PO is created without ACCOUNT ASSIGNMENT CATEGORY, then it will post the exch diff to material accounts only.
In case of POs with ACCOUNT ASSIGNMENT CATEGORY (either F/K), then it will post to the EXP GL of your PO line item only.
