Importing from an Oracle database converted from non-unicode to unicode - SSIS 2012
Hi,
I've some SSIS 2012 pkgs that read from a non-unicode Oracle database to a non-unicode SQL Server database.
Few days later, the Oracle database will be converted to unicode one and so I need to update the SQL database and the SSIS pkgs. Obiously no data conversion transformations are present in the pkgs. I'd like to avoid to add more of these data conversions.
As a first step, I'm trying to convert a SQL table to unicode format, but it isn't possible to convert non-unicode and unicode string data types.
I did not expect to have an error about the conversion from to non-unicode Oracle database (not yet converted) to unicode SQL Server database: a such conversion doesn't lost any information content. For me, it is right to have an error by from unicode to
non-unicode conversion.
Any suggests to solve this issue with a minimum development effort? Many thanks
Nope once you change datatypes to unicode you've to refresh metadata settings within SSIS packages for it to work fine. SSIS doesnt have the ability to do metadata changes at runtime. So someone has to update package metadata information to make them unicode
to make sure it works correctly after the changes.
What you can do is create test dbs in oracle and sql in uncode and create some modified packages based on it. Once you make changes to production dbs you need to move these modified copies also to production after making necessary config value changes like
servername, dbname, folder paths etc and then they will continue to work normally without causing any further downtimes to the customer.

Tax on Imports from Non-EU Countries
Hi Experts,
In SAP Library, following explaination has been given for tax on import.
Tax on Imports from Non-EU Countries
Definition
In Spain, you are obligated to pay a tax on imports from non-EU countries.
Use
This tax, which usually does not appear on the vendor invoice, must either be paid directly to the Spanish tax authorities or through a customs agent.
The R/3 System allows you to post the tax to a separate tax account, which is independent of the tax base. The account is especially set up to allow manual postings, whereas the normal input tax account does not.
Example
You receive an invoice from a foreign vendor. You post the amount of the invoice, but not the tax. A few weeks later, you receive an invoice for the tax from a customs agent. You must then create a manual posting to the account especially created for customs agent charges.
But, I could not found any config document for the same.
Can you please help me by explaining configuration to be done and process to be followed to achieve this practically.
Best Regards
SDthanks AP,
That is fine for Vendor side, I want to know for tax treatment. explaination clearly says that "The R/3 System allows you to post the tax to a separate tax account, which is independent of the tax base. The account is especially set up to allow manual postings, whereas the normal input tax account does not.
now, what settings I need to maintain for this seperate tax account?
And this should also reflect in SAP standard tax report "S_ALR_87009895 - Advance Return for Tax on Sales/Purchases "
Best Regards

How to export & import customer table space from non-unicode to unicode sys
hello all,
I have performed a migration of Single code to Unicode system. -
(ECC 6.0 SR2)
After completion of export & import i have noticed there is one customer table space which is missing.
eg - PSAPABCD
I have checked in source system & noticed that Table space is created by customer & not maintained properly as required,
therefore it is not either exported or imported.
Please advice me how should i manage to export tablespace from Non - unicode system & import in Unicode.
Is there any work out.
Thanks & rgds,

Data extraction from Non-Unicode ECC6 to Unicode SAP BI system
Hi,
We have an existing non-unicode ECC6 system. Currently we are installing SAP BI unicode system. Can anyone tell me are there any issues in data extraction for SAP BI from a non-unicode ECC6 system to an Unicode SAP BI system ?
Please also note that our data consists of Asian (korean, Japanese & Chinese) fonts.
Regards,
AnirbanHi Des Gallagher,
Thank you for your reply.
I have gone through the notes suggested by you, but they suggest issues related to BW 3.x versions. We are currently on SAP_BW 700 - SP16. Also, among other notes i found note 510882 which might be helpful for custom developments.
But i am still wondering whether we are going to face major issues related to data extraction from non-unicode ECC6 system to unicode SAP_BW 700 system.
Incase you have any further details, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) is now available!
Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) is a next-generation GUI migration tool to help you migrate your databases to the Unicode character set. It is free for customers with database support contracts. The DMU is built on the same GUI platform as SQL Developer and JDeveloper. It uses dedicated RDBMS functionality to scan and convert a database to AL32UTF8 (or to the deprecated UTF8, if needed for some reasons). For existing AL32UTF8 and UTF8 databases, it provides a validation mode to check if data is really encoded in UTF-8. Learn more about the tool on its OTN pages.
There is a new Database Migration Assistant for Unicode. We encourage you to post all questions related to the tool and to the database character set migration process in general to that forum.
Thanks,
The DMU Development TeamHI there!
7.6.03 ? Why do you use outdated software for your migration.
At least use 7.6.06 or 7.7.07 !
About the performance topic - well, you've to figure out what the database is waiting for.
Activate time measurement, activate the DBanalyzer with a short snapshot interval (say 120 or 60 seconds) and check what warnings you get.
Also you should use the parameter check to make sure that you don't run into any setup-induced bottlenecks.
Apart from these very basic prerequisites for the analysis of this issue, you may want to check
SAP Note 1464560 FAQ: R3load on MaxDB
Maybe you can use some of the performance features available in the current R3load versions.

Lars

Problem publishing database contents from non-unicode to unicode system
Hello everyone!
We just set up a new SAP WAS based on Netweaver 2004 as a unicode system. Out problem now is that we have a content management system on our non-unicode system and that we are publishing the contents via rfc to the WAS unicode system to display the contents online. the contents are stored in our own database tables.
The problem thereby is that many texts pasted from microsoft word contain special characters like bullets, long minus or low-9 quotation marks which are not correctly displayed in the unicode system / on the website. we already found out that it has something to do with the codepage. the sap notes say we should use 1160 instead of 1100 and that the transaction SPUMG would be helpful. but we are not able to select any tables there.
so now we do not know what to do exactly. do we have to change something in our non-unicode system or do we have to conversion in our unicode system. and what happends if content containing special microsoft word characters is published after the spumg conversion? do we have to to this frequently?
We would be glad if anyone could help.
Thanks a lot!Hi Martin,
thanks for your quick answer.
You got me right. We have a local non-Unicode SAP HCM Netweaver 2004 system running a self-developed web based content management system / wiki. The texts entered in the bsp application are stored in a string field in our database table. Actually we publish the contents to a WAS 6.20 non-Unicode system with the same database tables to provide the content via BSP for the public. Everything is working fine including the special characters.
Now we want to replace the WAS 6.20 non-Unicode system by a new WAS 7.0/2004 Unicode system. But when publishing the contents via the same RFC function module to the new system the special characters seem to be damaged. We are not able to replace them with abap commands and when they are displayed on the website we only see "boxes".
If I get you right we have to run SPUMG on our nw 2004 non-unicode productive hcm system, right? but isn't there a danger to damage existing contents?
Best regards,
Stefan -
Importing from Non controllable device via dsr 11 not working
I am importing segments from a dvd (yes, I am allowed to) and for some reason the dsr 11 is not sending the info out via the firewire cable into my G5. I have been getting around this by recording onto a tape, and then importing from the tape, but that is doubling all the work I have to do. I did limit capture now, and read a lot of posts regarding this problem but I haven't been able to solve it. Clearly all my cables are working as I can go from the dvd player to the deck, and from the deck to the computer, though not from the dvd player to the computer via my deck. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
Thanks! You probably won't get better image quality that MPEG Streamclip which does a file conversion. You should take this question to the Final Cut Pro forum as they will have more experience with the many more setting options available in that application.
If the device is not be recognized no capture process will work, and it has noting to do with the DVD. You need to sort that problem first. Try trashing prefs, rebooting and making sure the device is turned on and in the correct mode before you launch the application. -

Transport from Non-Unicode to Unicode system
I'd like to transfer program from SAP 4.6c to SAP ECC 6.0.
But source system is Non-Unicode, and target system is Unicode.
I exported transport request from SAP 4.6c into files:
K920948.D51
R920948.D51
then importing into SAP ECC 6.0 by STMS and getting error:
"Program ZRM06EF00: Syntax error in line 000000
The program 'ZRM06EF00' is not Unicode-compatible,according to its program attributes."
What should i do?Hi:
It is required to make the change accordingly of UCCHECK.
So upload in the higher version, and check its syntax error first and then activate.

You need to use the transaction UCCHECK.
The report documentation is here
ABAP Unicode Scan Tool UCCHECK
You can use transaction UCCHECK to examine a Unicode program set for syntax errors without having to set the program attribute "Unicode checks active" for every individual program. From the list of Unicode syntax errors, you can go directly to the affected programs and remove the errors. It is also possible to automatically create transport requests and set the Unicode program attribute for a program set.
Some application-specific checks, which draw your attention to program points that are not Unicode-compatible, are also integrated.
Selection of Objects:
The program objects can be selected according to object name, object type, author (TADIR), package, and original system. For the Unicode syntax check, only object types for which an independent syntax check can be carried out are appropriate. The following object types are possibilities:
PROG Report
CLAS Class
FUGR Function groups
FUGX Function group (with customer include, customer area)
FUGS Function group (with customer include, SAP area)
LDBA Logical Database
CNTX Context
TYPE Type pool
INTF Interface
Only Examine Programs with Non-Activated Unicode Flag
By default, the system only displays program objects that have not yet set the Unicode attribute. If you want to use UCCHECK to process program objects that have already set the attribute, you can deactivate this option.
Only Objects with TADIR Entry
By default, the system only displays program objects with a TADIR entry. If you want to examine programs that don't have a TADIR entry, for example locally generated programs without a package, you can deactivate this option.
Exclude Packages $*
By default, the system does not display program objects that are in a local, non-transportable package. If you want to examine programs that are in such a package, you can deactivate this option.
Display Modified SAP Programs Also
By default, SAP programs are not checked in customer systems. If you also want to check SAP programs that were modified in a customer system (see transaction SE95), you can activate this option.
Maximum Number of Programs:
To avoid timeouts or unexpectedly long waiting times, the maximum number of program objects is preset to 50. If you want to examine more objects, you must increase the maximum number or run a SAMT scan (general program set processing). The latter also has the advantage that the data is stored persistently. Proceed as follows:
- Call transaction SAMT
- Create task with program RSUNISCAN_FINAL, subroutine SAMT_SEARCH
For further information refer to documentation for transaction SAMT.
Displaying Points that Cannot Be Analyzed Statically
If you choose this option, you get an overview of the program points, where a static check for Unicode syntax errors is not possible. This can be the case if, for example, parameters or field symbols are not typed or you are accessing a field or structure with variable length/offset. At these points the system only tests at runtime whether the code is sufficient for the stricter Unicode tests. If possible, you should assign types to the variables used, otherwise you must check runtime behavior after the Unicode attribute has been set.
To be able to differentiate between your own and foreign code (for example when using standard includes or generated includes), there is a selection option for the includes to be displayed. By default, the system excludes the standard includes of the view maintenance LSVIM* from the display, because they cause a large number of messages that are not relevant for the Unicode conversion. It is recommended that you also exclude the generated function group-specific includes of the view maintenance (usually L<function group name>F00 and L<function group name>I00) from the display.
Similarly to the process in the extended syntax check, you can hide the warning using the pseudo comment ("#EC *).
Applikation-Specific Checks
These checks indicate program points that represent a public interface but are not Unicode-compatible. Under Unicode, the corresponding interfaces change according to the referenced documentation and must be adapted appropriately.
View Maintenance
Parts of the view maintenance generated in older releases are not Unicode-compatible. The relevant parts can be regenerated with a service report.
UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD
The function modules UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD or WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD are obsolete and cannot run under Unicode. Refer to the documentation for these modules to find out which routines serve as replacements.

Anji
