Importing from finalcut pro

My projects are normally 1 hour or more. When I import into DVD pro I use quicktime and it seems to take at least 4 hours or more. Have attempted to try compressor but I am not that clear on that software. Am I missing something or is there a better way to import a program that is an hour or more into a dvd buring software that will not take that long. I like the different looks that I can get from DVD pro.

Export self contained current settings from FCP.
Open compressor.
Drop that file into the pane,
Then select the 90 minutes best quality DVD encode and AC3/dolby2 audio and apply it to that movie.
Hit submit.
You have to spend some time learning your tools.

Grading over a transition imported from Premiere Pro

Anyone out there have a simple, fast and relaible way to deal with grading over a cross dissolve imported from Premiere Pro?
How do you (can you) dissolve from one grading layer to another over the transiton clip? I have been having no luck at all with the dissolve feature in SpeedGrade.
If anyone from Adobe is out there listing, SpeedGrade needs a drag and drop cross dissolve effect / tool like Premiere.
Working on longer pieces with multiple cross dissolves - SpeedGrade almost becomes useless!
When can we expect a proper upgrade to SpeedGrade that will bring it in line with Premiere and After Effects?

Unless you turned on proofing, that would have no effect whatsoever.
It sounds like the root problem is that color managed applications are having problems displaying the color you expect - which means that you expect something unrealistic, or that your display profile doesn't match your actual display.

I canot change an .img (video) file to a .mov file. It ends in .img no other endings. It plays on my computer but not on my blue Ray player TV. It came from Finalcut Pro as a home movie. Any help?

Encore CS6 crashes when importing from Premiere Pro CS6

When sending a project to Encore as a Dynamic Link from Premiere Pro, Encore hangs then a message pops up that it has stopped responding then closes. How do we get this to work?
The computer has an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and is running Windows 7 Pro x64 with Service Pack 1. Adobe CS6 Master Collection is installed. The computer is joined to a Windows Server 2012 domain and the user of the machine has local administrator rights.
The Adobe suite has been uninstalled and re-installed multiple times without success. Sometimes after re-installing, sending a Dynamic Link to Encore will import as expected once, but then after restarting the computer, the problem will occur again. This has been tried with and without installing any Adobe updates. The system has also been wiped and had Windows and all software clean installed on it again which has not resolved the problem.

Audio Key Frames Scrambled On Import From P Pro

I'm importing three audio tracks from Premier Pro 5.5 into Audition, and each audio track may contain several dozen separate clips.
On some tracks I loose all my audio key frames, and the "rubber band" has snapped
to the bottom and the track has no output. On other tracks, I'm loosing about a third of the key frames, poof, gone. In some cases, the key frames have been moved around within the clip,
say I created a fade up at the beginning with two key frames, and after import the first key frame, at -00 db, has moved ahead five seconds, and the second key frame is
at the proper level, but also has been slid over five seconds. Other key frames randomly drop to -00 db from where they originally were.
In P Pro I adjust my audio automation by setting key frames and moving the "rubber band". I then export by Edit > Edit In Audition > Sequence and check the "Send
Clip Vloume Key Frames" box, and un-check the "Render Audio Clips Effects" box. In the P Pro timeline I have not seclected any individual clips or tracks, I don't
believe I need to.
A multitrack session opens in Audition, and my key frames are scrambled up.
Using Mac Pro with OS 10.6.8 , P Pro 5.5.2 and purchased the CS 5.5 Creative Suite last December

I have to admit the following QT movie inspector details of my original video are below and play fine in QT but once I convert the video appears choppy at times almost as if clips are being dropped?
Is my default format simply not compatible?
If not then what would you recommend my settings be in MPEG Streamclip to export without any choppiness?

Aspect ratio wrong when importing from QuickTime Pro

Movies shot with Cannon still camera came out sideways. I used QuickTime Pro used to rotate them. They then look fine. However, when I import them into iMovie HD6, they remain vertical but are flattened down. I am sure it's a settings thing but this recent PC convert needs help!

So you shot in "portrait" instead of landscape?
I hope these are 320X240 instead of 640X480 files.
Easiest fix it to create an all black image file and use it as a background in QuickTime Pro.
Make the image 640X480. Import with QT Pro.
Select all and Copy.
Switch to your 320X240 movie (now 240X320), select all and "Add to Selection & Scale (Edit menu).
Open Movie Properties window.
Highlight the video track and adjust its offset and dimensions. Set its track "layer number" lower than the image file layer number. Negative numbers can be used.
Once happy with the file export to DV Stream.
Use the .dv file in iMovie.

Arbitrary data param not importing from Premiere Pro project into After Effects.

The only issue I have found, is that when importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects with the "Import -> Adobe Premiere Pro Project" option, the value in the Arbitrary Data
parameter is always the default. There is no problem saving or re-opening projects within AE or PP... and there are no problems with cutting and pasting instances of the effect.
Importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects using the Dynamic Link works correctly... the Arbitrary data is imported.

im editing some stuff in premiere pro cs5 and when i import it into after effects cs5 for colour correction and other effects all the transitions that i had from premiere will disappear. if someone can guide me step by step to this process it will be very helpful

As Mylenium suggests, there are many ways to move information between Premiere Pro and After Effects.They are all outlined on this page: "Working with After Effects and Premiere Pro"
You didn't specify, but I'll assume as he did that you are exporting a Premiere Pro project from After Effects. That works by converting things from native After Effects to their equivalents in Premiere Pro; sometimes there isn't a good equivalent, so the conversion isn't perfect. The same conversion is done as is done for copying and pasting between After Effects and Premiere Pro. There's a set of tables that describe the conversions here.
The way to get perfect fidelity is to either use Dynamic Link (as Mylenium suggested) or render and export a movie from After Effects and import that into Premiere Pro.

Render video pon audio import from Soundtrack Pro

Unique issue I have here. My video is standard NTSC Animation Codec and is in my Sequence in FCS2. I import my project into Soundtrack Pro edit my audio, Export back into FCS 2 (following the manual to insure proper steps).
Once I arrive back into FCS2 my video needs to be rendered. It checked the codec and everything matches up fine. Why is it now asking me to render mt video?

Did you edit to picture inside STP? And was it in sync there?
You may have an issue with a frequency shift. Audio doesn't have frames. It really runs in "real time." So if you shift frequencies the units per second change. It still has the same number of units, so ultimately the time changes.
How did you get the audio into STP in the first place?

Speed/Duration info not preserved when importing from Premier Pro to After Effects (CS3)

After succesfully importing my PP project into AE and adding effects, I realised that all clips in PP which had speed/duration adjustments resulted in blank black screens after rendering out on AE.
I then imported the AE composition into PP as a new project and the clips with any changes to speed were stilll black/blank.
I made changes to the speed of individual clips by right clicking on the clip an changing Speed/Duration.
Any help would be appreciated, fellas - thank you!

Incase anyone else is having this same issue I have discovered what was causing the problem. Apparently the program Hear by Joesoft is incompatible with the MediaCore service. Only after uninstalling Hear was I able to run these programs again.

Importing from Go Pro as MPeg4

When I try to import my GoPro footage which is currently as MP4 files it says,
1 files recognised
0 access denied
1 file unknown
Even if I try and convert these into MOV files using Handbrake it still says the same message.
Help!?

What you convert to depends on exactly what you should. I have to give the complete and exact specifications on the original media. Use the QT player and look in the movie inspector. There will be no quality loss but the files will be much larger.
Again a forum search might help you find an answer quickly.

Is there any way to Import From Camera (dv) in a way that Final Cut Pro can later import everything, including the audio

I know iMovie dv to Final Cut Pro has no audio. At least with my old events. But is there any way I can make it so future dv files Imported From Camera in iMove 2011 will later work in FCP?

And it depend's on what quality You want and how much problem You stand in FC - and what version of FinalCut You mean.
• FinalCut Pro-X - I have no clue at all
• FinalCut Express and Pro (till 6.0.6) - I'm very familiar to.
• If You take out the Imported/Captured material from Event's - it seems to be 100% OK - but in wrong codec so it will work in FinalCut BUT with a lot of RENDERINGS - every slight change = Need of RENDERING. To much for me.
• If You aim to do some Editing in iMovie them move over to FinalCut = Moving from Event's to Project's result in that every second line in the picture is discarded ( and can not be repaired ) so the project will lose a lot of quality - whatever way You use to Export/Move it over to FinalCut.
So at least I'm better of by Capture in FinalCut from Start as I can keep 100% quality till Movie is done.

iTunes does not use the .xml it uses the .itl
If you are sure your old library file migrated across (does the file size and modification dates suggest it has?) start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the .itl file to get it to use that one.

I have the new macbook pro from late 2011. when i try plugging my cannon gl2 into the mac via firewire 800 it does not show up in iMovie as an option to import from. i even have gone into my settings on the camera and changed it to vcr.

"the one before the new ritina display" i have a cannon gl2 video camera which is mini dv. when i plug it into my mac via firwire 800 it does not show up in the iMovie. i have set the settings on the camera to vcr mode and changed it to av->dv out. when i click on the import from camera on imovie it doesnt even show my camera in it. it just gives me the option to import video from my facetime camera. the camera is turned on the wires are connected i know for fact that its a firewire and not a usb. i know what they each look like. i bought the firewire cable and it was marked down cause it was an opened and used item. would it be possible that it could be deffected and if that is not the reason what other options do i have?

I would say that odds are high that you have a bad cable. Maybe that is why they returned it.
I would suggest trying a different firewire cable.

Other things to check:
Is your camera plugged in to wall power (not to batteries only). Must be hooked to an AC power source to import.
