Importing from Media Playar into iTunes

I have all my music library organized with Windows Media Player and also filled fields like 'Album Artist', 'Contributing Artist', etc. When I import these files into iTunes the iTunes fild 'Artist' contains the WMP fild 'Contributing Artist' (i.e. all the list of the musicians playing in the song). Two dowsides: i) iTunes does not retrieve the album artworks from the internet and; ii) searching for an Artist on my iPod is a mess because rather than having to choose the single artist I have to choose its combination with any other player he plays with.
Does anybody know how to solve both?

Do not do any work at the Windows folder level, you're sure to screw something up. Instead, do all your editing in the tags. Check for consistency within the tags of each song on a given album. Are the applicable fields identical? (artist, album artist, album, # of tracks, # of disks, etc.) Any variation in the tags will cause songs to be filed in separate Windows folders. Also, sometimes albums are mis-tagged as Compilations, so check all songs on the album for that setting (on the Options tab within Get Info).

  • Putting music from Media Player into iTunes???

So....I just recently bought my Nano. I have lots of songs on my computer (that I put on there from my CDs) in Windows Media Player 10. When I connected to iTunes (to put music on my iPod) some of my previous songs from Media Player were put into iTunes, yet there are still LOTS of songs not in the iTunes Library. And I don't think that they didn't transfer because they are "protected", it has to be something else. I've tried dragging, copying, nothing is 'allowed'. I've gone to about every window, menu, and help/support site in both iTunes and Windows Media Player. This is almost a last resort.
Thank you SO much if you have ANY information at all!!!

I'm having the same problem, can someone help us?????

  • When I connected iPhone5 to MacBook, the music I bought from iTunes store transferred to iPhone, but the music I imported from CD's into iTunes did not.  How can I "synch" those imported songs over to iPhone?

When in connect my iPhone5 to my MacBook, the songs I purchases from the iTunes store transferred over, but the songs I imported from CDs into iTunes did not.  how can I "synch" over those imported songs into my iPhone?

You have to connect and select iPhone in iTunes under DEVICES (Left panel), select Music tab (right top), check Sync Music, and all the music you want on iPhone then tap Sync button (bottom right).

  • How to import from iPod back into iTunes?

Old computer (with iTunes synched to iPod) crashed and died suddenly, with effectively no recovery ability for iTunes Library.
'No problem', I thought, because the music's all still there in the iPod...right?
Yes, but I know see iTunes 'synch' function wants to delete the iPod music because it doesn't match the music now in the (newly downloaded onto the new computer) iTunes Library.
Any ideas on how to sync music backwards, i.e. from the iPod back to iTunes???

I can't speak for other people or other systems, but after a puter crash (and recovery) here's how I got all my iPod songs back into iTunes using Windows XP:
    1) While holding Ctrl+Shift, plug in iPod to computer (via USB cable).
    2) Still holding Ctrl+Shift, if iTunes opens, close it.
    3) Open My Computer (on Desktop) and click on iPod.
    4) Find file called "iPod Control" and copy it.
    5) Create new folder (anywhere) and paste "iPod Control" there. It will take several minutes to load.
    6) Right click on new copy of "iPod Control", choose "Properties" and uncheck attributes "Read Only" and "Hidden".
    7) Disconnect iPod from computer and open iTunes.
    8) Click "File" at upper left then click "Add File to Library".
    9) Browse for your new folder, open it to find "Music", open "Music" to find "F00, F01, F02, etc.
    10) Open "F00" and hit Ctrl+A to select all files in "F00", then choose "Open" from popup menu. Files will copy to iTunes.
    11) Repeat procedure for "F01", "F02", etc. until all files are copied.
    12) Do not delete new folder.

  • Importing from CD's into iTunes

Hello, I am a newbie to the use of iTunes. I have been successful in downloading songs from the iTunes Music store to my computer. I am having difficulty however in importing music from my CD collection into my computer using iTunes.
    Here is what I do:
1.) Boot Machine and open iTunes.
2.) Insert CD. (I have both a CD Writer and a DVD/ROM - I have tried both drives).
3.) I then see that the machine notices a CD in the tray as a small CD icon briefly appears by my cursor.
4.) I then see a window appear indicating "Referencing Gracenote OCCB ....".
5.) I hear the CD drive spinning.
6.) I never see a list of songs on the CD appear or a window open. I also do not see the songs imported to my library source list.
I have run the CD Diagnostics check and everything appears to be OK. I have the latest version of QuickTime and have disabled error checking. I have tried various CDs.

  • Problem with import files from windows media player into iTunes

When I have tried to import my .wav lossless files created under windows media player into iTunes I use File, add folder to library but when the action is completed I get all of the files under the heading 'unknown album' with 'unknown artist'.
Does anyone know that I need to do in order to include the artist and album ?
    Many thanks,
    John.

You'll first need to add the MP3s to your iTunes library since the iPod is not compatible with Windows Media Player. You can use, for example, the File > Add to Library menu to do this.

  • How do I import just PART of a song from a CD into iTunes Library?

I am trying to get just a little bit of one of my songs from my CD into iTunes Library so I can use it on a website. I do not want the entire song. Can this be done?

No, not as far as I know.
You can, once imported, change the 'Start Time:' and 'Stop Time:' (Get Info, Options tab) and convert it, using the converter of your choice.
The copy will have the length between start and stop times.
Beware of copyright issues before putting (parts of) songs on a website.
If you own the copyright, it's no problem of course.
    Hope this helps.

Please help. I had a new hard drive put into my imac flat panel g4. When I try to import music from a cd into itunes it closes or freezes itunes after one or two songs have been imported.

hmmmm. do you have any other USB 2.0 peripherals plugged in to the PC?
if so, try (experimentally) disconnecting them prior to a sync. (sometimes power drain through one port can affect an ipod connection on a different port.)
any improvement in sync performance if you try that?

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are having trouble importing music into iTunes. A frustrating situation for sure. The first article should help get the music imported. The second article shows what formats are compatible with iTunes.

  • Import music from iPod Classic into iTunes

I have an iPod Classic 120 GB that is still in perfect condition. I got it 5 years ago. I had imported several CD's into iTunes on my family computer and then imported them on to my iPod. I also had purchased some music from the iTunes store, but I had a lot more music that I had imported from CD's. An incident happened where a lot of my music got deleted from my iTunes account. I had over 5000 songs on my iPod from all the CD's, audio books, and purchased music I had imported into iTunes and then on to my iPod. When I plugged my iPod into my computer, iTunes recognized that there was music on my iPod that wasn't in my iTunes library. It asked if I would like to import the music that was on my iPod into my iTunes library. I said yes. Of the 5000+ songs on my iPod, only about 300 were imported back into iTunes, and then my iPod was synced. I lost the rest of my music. After this incident, I took several hours to re-import the CD's back into my iTunes library. Not too long after this, my computer crashed. Everything was wiped from my computer. We started by re-installing the drivers, Google Chrome, and I just re-downloaded iTunes. All the music that was in my iCloud has been backed up and added to my new library. This is only about 31 songs. I'm afraid to plug in my iPod again because it still has all the music on it that took so long to re-import. But now I can't add another CD on to my iPod without the fear of losing everything again. Does anyone know how I can make sure that ALL the music will be re-imported into my iTunes library again when I plug in my iPod? I don't want to go through this ordeal again if I don't have to.
