My friend lost all of his music on his computer but still has every song on his ipod. Does any one know how to import the song from his ipod to itunes library. The music does not show up when you go add to library or import but his contact, notes, and everything else does.

  • Importing From An Ipod to new PC

    Hello,
I read the import instructions for moving music files from my Ipod to my new PC; however, my old PC died before I had a chance to complete those steps. When I plugged in my Ipod to the new PC, it only moved the purchased songs. Can I still move the rest?
I did create a backup of my old Itunes on cd-rom, but that is now several months old. If I cannot copy from my Ipod that will be plan B. Is there a link on this site for how to restore via cd-rom?
Thanks in advance for your help!

The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Can I import from an iPod?

A little while ago I wiped my computer in entirety: I even removed the OS and reinstalled from the ground up. Before doing this, I tried to salvage all of my music and pictures, and various other documents, but my music collection bizarrely vanished, and I'm left with an empty iTunes library and an iPod full of music I want back on my PC. I am, however, at a loss as to how I go about doing this. I'm pretty sure syncing them will wipe my iPod, and I'm not very keen on trying it, so if anyone has a solution, I'd be quite gracious to hear it.

    Hey there,
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes.
There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead.
You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
If you have any purchased from the iTunes store, it would be a good idea to sign in onto hisyour account and authorize the computer. Also, when you plug it in, make sure to hit "Cancel" if it opens up iTunes and asks you if you would like to Transfer Purchses, or Erase and Sync. Hope this helps.

  • Please help - how do I import music from my ipod into a new itunes library?

    Hello
I would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me how to get the music from my old ipod mini into the new itunes library on my new laptop.
The mini was previously sync'd with my old PC which died so my files are only present on the ipod. Upon loading itunes, the software is only letting my sync the ipod providing I wipe it (obviously not desirable...)
    Thanks for any support, Andy

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" as you already know will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer

Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Is there a way to import music from my ipod to the computer?

is there a way to import music from my ipod to the camputer?
I have music from all over the world and i want to import all of it to my computer..

Sorry for insulting Apple. This whole thing has me frustrated. You would think that this is an easy thing...which it is after downloading the third party software and all.
I am just a bit edgy after talking to 3 customer support folks for almost 2 hours, who I could barely understand and then having them just tell me to download the files again. 3500+ songs...jumping out the window was looking more pleasant (jk). Now I have to explain to the wife why the phone is busted in-two...lol.
Anyway, I was able to get hooked up with some software and it seems to be downloading fine. I am using iPodCopy. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction and putting up with a bit of attitude. I am sure they have their reasons for not making this an easier operation.

  • Hi at the moment my ipod is on manual sync mode. Is there any way of changing this to auto-sync without losing the music on my ipod or library? Possibly more importantly is there a way I can transfer the ratings from my ipod onto my i-tunes?

This is so I can delete music from my ipod knowing its rated on my i-tunes so I can then see later if I want to re-add it based on its rating
    Thanks

    Unfortunately there is not.

Not without the help of third party software such as this one:

  • When I import photos taken from my Ipod Touch 4 to My Mac Desktop, I click delete photos on ipod, but they do not delete. Is the only way to delete them individually (I have 1,400 photos!) or is there a way to delete them all in one go?

I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?
    Software: 4.3.2

Thanks If anyone can help me.

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • HT1329 I have imported music files on my iPod Classic which I don't have on my old PC as it had less capacity than the iPod. I now have a new PC and want to transfer the music from the iPod to my new PC so that I have back ups. How can I do this?

How do I move music imported from my old CD collection onto my iPod, which I did not retain on my old PC as there was not enough memory. I no longer have all the CDs so cannot import them to my new PC, so want to copy them directly off my iPod Classic to my new PC.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks

You cannot do it (transfer song files from iPod to computer) using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download previous purchases using the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can be used to transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer's hard drive, drag them (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window to add them to your new computer's iTunes library.

  • Can I import my playlist from my ipod to my iTunes?  My playlists in iTunes has disappeared....

I recently upgraded my old mac with a new mac.  I transferred everything over and it worked (including the itunes xml file that contained my playlists).  I erased my old mac and gave it to a friend.  I synced my iphone to my new mac and all my playlists on both the mac and iphone are gone.  Is there a way to import my playlists back into itunes using my iPod (I haven't synced it yet)?
On a similar note....  All my pictures in iphoto lost their "faces"....  Is there anyway to import the faces data from my ipod back into iphoto so I don't have to rename everyone (I have a lot of photos....)?

Check out this post and the possible solution.

  • I am having problems importing from a DVD or a CD to my Ipod nano via windows 8.  I initially set everything up on a computer with windows 7, and authorized the windows 8 computer as well.  Howevre, the oly thing that comes up on windows 8 is my purchases

I am having problems importing to my Ipod nano via windows 8.  I usually do this from a windows 7 computer and have had no problems; hoever in windows 8 I can only see items purchased in the Itunes store.  I do not have access to my entire library, which includes song uploaded from CDs and some videos.  As a result, I'm having problems uploading any new items from CDs or DVDs.  The computer with windows 8 is an authorized computer, so I don't understand why I'm having the problem.
