Importing iCalendar to iWeb

How do I import my iCalendar into iWeb as a new page on my website?

I don't think you can. It might be possible to publish your iCal calendars to .mac and then provide a link in your website to it. I'm not sure if this will work or not, as I don't remember if it is possible to access calendars published to .mac with a browser. If it isn't, there are some other free calendar hosting sites (and some that charge fees) that do provide a web browser interface.

  • Import Website Into iWeb

  • Can I import a non-iWeb website into iWeb?

How can I import a non-iWeb website into iWeb so that I can use iWeb to edit the site?

You can't: iWeb cannot import html files, and relies entirely on its own 'Domain' file which lives by default in your User Library. You would have to recreate the site from scratch, using the original as a guide and a source for images and text; or use an HTML editor.
Depending on how complicated the site is you may be able to do this in Kompozer, which is free. It is a WYSIWYG web page created which also gives you access to the code, and which can open any HTML page (though if the page is heavily dependent on external CSS you may have difficulties with it).

  • Import iCalendar: all events lose their actual owner?

We are migrating calendar events from a previous
installation of a different software into SunJES. While
I've eventually got the ical file screwed up enough so
both, the Web frontend as well as csimport do accept my
    file, I encounter two problems:
First, the organizer's email address is either completely
lost (when importing via csimport), or replaced by my own
address (when importing from the Web frontend), even though
the icalendar file contains the correct addresses (including
    the X-S1CS-EMAIL blurb). Why's that?
Even worse, all imported events (regardless of which import
method has been used) are no longer owned by me, so
I can display them but not change them anymore. When
I re-export them into an .ics file, I can still see my cn=
as ORGANIZER, but no email address is attached at all.
This is all regardless of which method has been used to
produce the icalendar file, even files produced by the
Web frontend's export function or by csexport experience
    the same behaviour.
How to export/import events in a way to not lose any
    related information?

Well, after a few hours more of experimenting, we've been
    successful now.
It turns out that you cannot import anything into another
calendar than your default one. While experimenting with
the import, we've always been using a different calendar
for testing (so it could easily be destroyed again using
cscal). However, in that case, you can never get the
ID of the owner of a calendar event to match your calid,
which apparently is the basic requirement for the software
to actually accept the event as your own one.

I don't think this is possible. In any case, the iWeb blog has very limited capabilities and you certainly would not want to move to it without being aware of them.

  • Importing video onto iweb

I have some video I am trying to import into iweb. Since the size of these files are so large, what would be the best method ??
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    brkpsu,
    Welcome to the iWeb forums.
Without knowing the file sizes you are considering, the easiest method I would suggest would be to link to the file.
Play your movie file, and freeze on a frame that, in your opinion, best represents the movie. Using AppleShift4, take a snapshot of this frame, and place this snapshot into iWeb. Using the Inspector, link this photo to your movie file by choosing "A File" after checking "Enable as a Hyperlink". iWeb, upon publishing, will upload the movie file; all a visitor has to do at that point is click on the photo that represents your movie, and your movie will play.

  • How import folder into iweb

As I posted, my iweb project is missing - it is no longer listed in the index when I open the program.
I have the site saved in a desktop folder - how do I import the folder into iweb so i can load the porject again?
    Thanks,
    Diana.

Occasionally iWeb will open and you won't be able to see anything in it, not the websites you've built nor any of the menu items.  If you're experiencing that try the following:
    1 - open iPhoto.
    2 - select a couple of photos.
3 - use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photo Page menu.
It might take a couple of tries.
    Happy New Year

  • Import pdf into iweb

How do i go about importing a pdf file into iweb? Any help will
    be greatly appreciated. thanks.
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Mark,
Thanks for ur quick response. I did exactly as the article from James Tseng
described. I linked it exactly as he describes but only the 1st page of the
pdf file is displayed. Its actually a large pdf file with 96 pages. Could it be
the size of this pdf (96 pages) that is keeping from downloading all of the
    pages??? Something's not right.

  • Import pdf from iWeb

How can I export a simple pdf file to iWeb ?

Drop the pdf on the canvas. Change the size. It's now a picture.
Select the picture and create a hyperlink to the pdf.
Upon publishing iWeb will put the pdf on the server.
When your visitor click the image the pdf will load in the browser.
You cannot import the content of the pdf on a iWeb page. Create the iWeb page from the content where you created the pdf in the first place.

  • Importing eBlogger into iWeb Blog...

    Good Afternoon,
Is it possible to import previous blogs from eBlogger into a blog made with iWeb? Would like to keep what I've done previously, but, from what I can tell, this may not be a viable option.
Would love your input on this...can it be done? Is it worth it?
    Thanks...
    TMCinDC

No, you can't incorporate anything into iWeb as it has no import facility.
The best you can do is display your eblogger blog in iWeb using iframe code - place the code into an html snippet and people can scroll the site within your iWeb site.
Other than that, there is nothing that can be incorporated into iWeb.

  • Can't import site into iWeb

I just updated one of my machines to Mountain Lion as a clean install, and i installed iWeb because that's what I created my website in. I had copied the saved file (Domain.sites2) from my other computer, and tried to open it in the ML iWeb, but it won't open like it does on my 10.6 machine. What's going on? I hardly use the 10.6 machine anymore, and will be using this one more, so i need tog et this to work. Thanks

    Try this:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Best way to import video to iweb??? FCE or imovie?

I am putting a video website together and create the videos in FCE -- I have found that I can save as QT and drag to the page I am making or I can post it thru iweb (am I correct?) I wasn't sure if uploading to imovie then posting it would make it more web friendly???
is there a preferred export setting thru FCE QT conversion to use??
    THanks
you can see how I have the videos set up now. www.piercemediaproductions.com
BTW. is there a prefered way to post videos on the iweb templates. ( meaning I use the blog and the podcst area as well as just blank pages to post clips as well. I wasn't sure if search engines find you based on where the video is???
    TIM

I'm going to answer the last part of your post and leave the rest to those that know something about movies!
If you put more than one movie per page, the download time will be slow.
I personally wouldn't use the blog or podcast format because you are dependent on the iWeb standard navigation. If you want the search engines to "read" your website, you will have to build your own navigation.
The SE spiders can't watch movies so it would be better to have a page with a frame of each movie, a text description and a (descriptive) link to the individual movie page. The "descriptive" links will show up in your sitemap and should contain key words about the movie to help with SE ranking.
To keep your navigation menu down to a reasonable size, the individual pages would not be contained in the main menu. You can use sub menus for this.
Example of main and sub menus....
