Importing idvd to DVDSP

is there a way to import iDVD motion menus into DVDSP?

There is a way but its severly limited by version.
For example, DVDSP 4 can only import iDVD projects from version 3 and 4 of iDVD.
Here's another thread on it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3892027&#3892027

  • Help importing iDVD video

I'm having trouble importing iDVD videos into iTunes (and then into my iPhone) that I made with iMovie and then burned with iDVD. When I try to import it, nothing goes into my iTunes movie folder. I get the sense that there's a problem with the type of file it is, but I'm not sure what to do about it (and haven't seen a similar post here). Thanks-
    Dino

If you still have the working file from iMovie, you should be able to save as mp4/aac file (quicktime), instead of working with iDVD file. If you have one of those, it is even better - just drag it into iTunes. If you have non-standard aspect ratio, then you will have to convert it to iPod video somewhere (in iTunes also).
DVD files are in a folder called Video_TS and they need to be ripped using Handbrake or some other software like that so it can be used in iTunes.
It is time consuming, from my perspective, so I don't do it very often...

  • Import iDVD menus

I am working on a project and one of the menu themes from iDVD is what I need for this proect. I have been told that it is possible to import these into DVD Studio Pro. Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks!

Each iDVD theme is a video clip in the background and the iDVD application adds buttons on top of it. Since DVD SP won't do this for you like iDVD you'll have to put your own buttons in.
    1. To get the iDVD theme files go to your Applications folder.
    2. Right/Control click on the iDVD Application and choose "Show Package Contents"
    3. A new window will pop up with a folder named Contents, open this folder. Inside this folder double click on Resources. You're now brough to the folder where iDVD's resources are located.
    4. They're in alphabetical order. Find the theme you want, should have a moving video background, such as Gen Y.
    5. Right/Control click on the theme and choose "Show Package Contents" in this new window, double click on Contents. Then go to Resources.
    6. If you're using a moving video theme you will see the video file, which is a QuickTime .mov file, in this folder. If you're doing a still menu, you would find the background picture which can also be used.
    7. Duplicate this file, either picture of video. Drag the duplicate to the desktop. Import int DVDSP
    Good luck.

  • How can I import idvd back to imovie?

How do I erase audio on idvd project?  Looking to separate audio from video, and apply new audio. Using 10.6.8 macbook air, Processor 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.   Using imovie 11, 9.0.4, idvd 7.1.2.  Could not import to imovie. I am grateful to all suggestions.

Okay, this can still be done.
A DVD is a highly compressed video format. However, tools do exist to uncompress it and get it into an editable file. I've had to do this myself on a couple of occasions when the only thing people had was a DVD.
The software below is what I use.  It will create a video file that should load into QuickTime 7 or QuickTime Pro, allowing you to eliminate the audio as described by Old Toad above.
I use it with iMovie 06 (and a few times with iMovie 11) and iDVD 11. It has several modes of converting the data. One mode is called "lossless".

By the way, I am pretty good with movie editing using iMovie HD 06 and sometimes the newer versions of iMovie.  Old Toad is a much better expert than I regarding video.   He has helped me countless times.   However, others here can help you as well. Unfortunately, the iDVD section is not visited as often as it used to be. Once you have a working video file you might try posting in the iMovie or QuickTime areas as these are visited more often by experts.

  • Error importing iDVD projects - feature or bug?

I know you used to be able to import projects created in iDVD into DVD Studio Pro, but is that a thing of the past? I see there's a current known issue where projects created in iDVD 5 or 6 will not import into DVD Studio Pro 3 or 4
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301385
and I'm wondering if that's as designed or if it's a bug that's being worked on. If there are any existing threads on the topic, I'd much appreciate a link. Couldn't find one other than the above Support document.
    Thanks!

Forgot to close the link, sorry
But here Using DVD SP Elements also works to some degree with iDVD elements and you can get elements and recreate to a template, have not worked it all through with all the new iDVD yet though you can get some elements (from iDVD APP->SHOW Packages>

  • Making the jump IDVD to DVDSP - Apply chapters to DVD?

Ok... I took the advice of many. Started using compressor to begin making DVDS with DDVSP.
So here is where I’m at. I finally got my FCP white water rafting movie formatted and filed correctly with chapter markers using compressor.
I imported the asset files into DVDSP. I even successfully burned a DVD.
The DVD movie looks and plays great! That is a victory for me.
Now I want to apply the chapters that are already in trackone and probably use one of the basic templates to make a functional DVD for the viewers to enjoy.
I cannot find a written or video tutorial that will walk methrough the steps so I can finish making my DVD with functional chapters and(Menus?)
So…. Does anyone have links to tutorials on the basics, making a chaptered DVD with DVDSP?
I have looked at quite a few tutorials, video and written that have not helped so far. The project is just one 30-minute video with just six chapters already assigned in the VI track. It should be simple right?
    Thanks
    Gary

They are already active. Viewers can just use the chapter button on the remote to jump to the one they want.
If you want a dedicated menu with titles for the chapters, place as many buttons as you need and set their Target in the bottom right window.
    Click the first menu button.
    Click the Target button.
Choose Tracks and Storiies > Track 1 > Chapter 1.
    Click the second menu button.
    Click the Target button.
Choose Tracks and Storiies > Track 1 > Chapter 2...

  • Import iDVD project into Quicktime

I love the effects from iDVD Themes 6 and 7. I would like to produce simple iDVD movies and then import them to Quicktime movies for online advertising. Anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks
    Earl

You can use QT Pro to open an iMovie and then export from there.
Also, I'm not 100% sure this will work but this too may be worth a shot:
    By sdmacuser at 2007-10-26
    By sdmacuser at 2007-10-26
Or .... you might be able to hint the above movie for use with QT Broadcaster for streaming over the internet from one mac to another (but for streaming to multiple macs you will likely need to have a server to reflect the hinted iMovie from).
If the above fails then try this app (however there will be some loss in quality):

Good luck and keep us posted.

  • Import idvd to imovie

    Hello Apple and iMovie Geniuses
I have created 3 year ago a movie which I have burnt on iDVD. I have since had to reinstall the operating system and also upgraded to Lion. The iDVD project is on my external drive, I have managed to re-burn it on iDVD. I want to promote my work and post it on my website. I can not import the DVD project on iMovie nore on QuickTime player 7 or 10 or iTunes... How can I resolve this issue to post the film I made on my website please. I am out of solution and also out of patience now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you a lot.
    Fred

    hey there iNead...,
there's no way to go from iDVD to iMovie w/ a DVD project. you can rebuild the project in iMovie; have more photos, make them last 10 secs or longer & lay captions on top, but 10 sec isn't very long-keep captions short.
    good luck.

  • Cannot import idvd slideshows into imovie

Does anyone know if there is anyway around the error message: "QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -43" recieved when trying to import .dvdproj fies from idvd?

I'm sorry but I am having the same trouble and I did not find the previous answer helpful. I used "show package content" to open the file "Contents" but inside "Contents" there are two items: "PkgInfo" and "Resources".
When you say "view the individual files" - which files do you mean? What files do I drag and where do I drag it to?
    Thank you!

  • Importing iDVD created movie from the DVD I created it on

I recently created an burned a movie using iMovie 08' and iDVD 08'. Unfortunately, after i burned the movie to DVD i deleted the data from my computer. Now after watching the DVD I realize I'd like to break it up into further chapters. So I'd like to know if it is possible to upload the movie I made using iDVD back onto my computer so this may be accomplished. When i put the DVD into the computer it wants to play it. When I try to import using iMovie it won't let me. The same goes for Quicktime Pro. Help?

Keep in mind that your project was compressed (lossy format) to go onto a video DVD. If you then take the DVD and convert it back to a form that can be used with iMovie, you will now be working with footage that is not the same quality as you originally started with and when you go back to iDVD again, you will be compressing it again, creating further quality losses. It might still be acceptable to you, but just wanted to mention it so you realize it.
Anyway, here is a page to start you off figuring out how to get your DVD back into iMovie...

  • Importing iDVD project into iMovie

I want to send a slide show from iDVD into iMovie. The show looks normal in quicktime but when I attempt to drag the .mov file into iMovie I get the message "Error during import. The file could not be imported: Unknown error". The procedure has worked fine in the past but now I've hit a brick wall. Help!

I finally found out why I was unable to import my iDVD file into iMovie. I am a new Mac owner and I had used an illegal punctuation mark in the title of my slide show (China/Japan). I received a useless message - "The file could not be imported: unknown error". Thank you very much. My old PC with Microsoft would have immediately told me to retitle the file and that would have been that. Mac's poor error warning caused me to stop my project for days because they could not even give me a simple reason for the error. My education continues. I love the iLife software but find it to be incredibly difficult because every day I run into unexpected problems. When finished the results are truly beautiful - if you have unlimited time. I am impressed with Apple's help forum.

  • Importing iDVD footage to FCP

I have a disc containing a sample of my video production work that was created with iDVD. I am trying to transfer this video to Final Cut Pro in order to break it up to make different chapters on a new DVD.
I extracted the .VOB files using MacTheRipper, but when I import them into FCP, the audio tracks contain nothing.
MacTheRipper created both a VIDEO_TS and an AUDIO_TS folder when it extracted, but the AUDIO_TS folder is empty.
I have been able to burn the .VOB file to a new DVD (including audio), but unable to import it with FCP.
Any ideas as to why the blank audio bars in FCP or suggestions on how to manipulate the footage?
    Thanks for the help,
    Ryan

Search is your friend this topic has been covered ad infinitum on this and may other forums ...
google for MPEG Streamclip ... that is a free app that will let you "demux" the MPEG2/VOB file so as to enable you to access the audio

  • How to import iDVD app from Time Capsule to my new iMac 21" that does not have iDVD?  I can find the iDVD app in the Time Capsule, then what?

I have a new 21" iMac to replace a 6-year old iMac 24.  My Time Capsule has the iDVD app saved (?) and I can find it, but I can't figure out how to move it to my new iMac that does not have the app.  How to do this?

You are probably better to install it from ilife disk.
Can't Find a update or latest Version of iDVD to Download or a Compatibility to Yosemite
