Importing images not in iPhoto.

While I do use iPhoto somewhat, I don't use it for everything.
I would like to import some images into Pages that are not in iPhoto, but I do not see a way to do it.
Is there a way?

You can also use Expose to find your image in the finder and then drag/drop to the appropriate spot in your Pages document.
I find f11 the easiest if you have not located it. Press f11, browse through to where it is click and hold down the mouse button to keep your image selected, press f9 to bring up all open windows and once your mouse is on the Pages document window pressing f9 again will return you to your document.
If you have not let go of the mouse button during that procedure your image will be inserted in the document. Through the magic of Image Placeholders in most templates placing your image over another image should replace that image, scaled so your image fits.
It sounds complicated, but expose is something you will find yourself always using once you start.

    Open iMovie. Open your Project.
Open the Finder. Navigate to your photo. Drag and drop it into the Project.

  • Imported images not displaying in LR

My images do not display in the Library module. If I click on the Develop module I can see an individual image or three, but then as I go through the album previous viewed images go blank again. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

Need to know the steps you are taking when importing images into LR.
By default LR is set to always show newly imported images under the Catalog heading on the right, Previously Imported. That should read Newly imported as apposed to Previously Imported, IMHO.
What Albums are you talking about? LR doesn't have Albums. It does have Collections. Semantics, maybe, but it is helpful to use the correct terminology when asking for help. Apple Mac iPhoto and maybe Aperture have Albums. LR doesn't.

  • Importing images: not in "recognized format".

    Hi,
I encountered a problem last night, but thankfully found a solution.  I've decided to share it here.  (There are a number of threads in the Apple forums discussing the same problem, but they were all archived, so I couldn't add my solution to any of them.)
    Problem:
I converted some Canon RAW (CR2) images to grayscale using Adobe Camera Raw CS5, then saved them as JPEGs.
When I tried to import these JPEGs into iPhoto I got the error message "The file is not in a recognized format". (I might not have that error message verbatim.  Sorry.)
However, other RAW files that I had not converted to grayscale, but did save to JPEGs from Adobe Camera Raw, imported without trouble.
    Solution:
After some searching of these forums I found a couple of threads that all pointed to the same problem: the JPEGs were missing a 'colour space'. (Not sure if that's the correct technical term.)  Essentially iPhoto expects to deal with colour images, but my grayscale JPEGs were missing a suitable colour space because I had converted them to grayscale.
I re-opened the grayscale RAW files in Adobe Camera Raw, and selected all.
At the very foot of the Adobe Camera Raw window, right in the centre, is a hyperlink that lists the colour space, dots-per-inch, and some other settings.
I clicked on this link to open a dialog box, and changed the colour space to sRGB from the relevant drop-down.
    I clicked OK.
I re-saved the RAW files as JPEGs.
I imported these new JPEGs that contained the sRGB colour space into iPhoto without any problems.
I deleted the original JPEGs that failed to import.
Hopefully this might help you solve a similar problem that you are encountering.
    Regards,
    Ken.

In summary: Cameras shoot in RGB. iPhoto supports RGB. It doesn't support Greyscale or CYMK.

  • Imported images not showing in catalog

I have imported images from my Canon 5D markIII and somewhere along the way, I've made an error in the settings.  The images are on my computer but not showing up in a folder in the LR4 catalog...how do I get them into the catalog?  When I try to find them, they are all greyed out and I can't move them - a message says that it seems that duplicates are already on the computer (or something like that).  Can anyone guide me through this?

uncheck "don´t import possible duplicates" in the import dialog.
this is a screenshot from the german version but you should be able to find that checkbox:
    http://i.imgur.com/S4EcC.jpg
when you are sure they are in a folder on your harddisk you have imported into LR already, but they don´t show in the LR catalog, then rightclick on the folder in lightroom and choose "syncronize folder".
a windows will come up with different options you can choose.
you can search for new files in the folder and import them into lightrooms database.
or delete files from the database when they are not in the folder anymore.

  • Recently imported images not displayed automatically

When I import images from a card reader the Organizer no longer automatically shows the recently imported images.  In order to view them I must do Find on Untagged items.  I thought I was selecting to turn off  the dialog box asking whether I want recently imported image to be automtaically shown but I must have selected that the images themselves not be shown.  How do I restore so that recently imported images are shown so I may easily tag them.  I am using PSE 8.

Do you have Show All files checked in Edit->Visibillity menu. Also please check if you have View->Media Type checked for all the media types

  • IPhoto 9 importing images already in iPhoto's library

I have iPhoto 9 running on a MacBook Core 2 Duo running Snow Leopard. First issue in four years:
I tried to import 29 new jpg photos emailed to me and iPhoto indicated it was importing 828 photos after dragging them to the iPhoto icon, the import screen displaying photos that have already been in the iPhoto library for years. What on earth is this about? I had to force quit. I have restarted the computer as well as the app, but no change in behaviour. Anyone ever experience this? Does not appear that I lost any pictures. Why and how is it importing what is already in it's own library?! Any fixes?

I realize this is difficult to understand as the problem is absolutely bizarre. I do drag the 29 new photos directly to iPhoto. iPhoto then proceeds to try and import them along with over 800 existing photos all on it's own that are already stored only in my iPhoto library. As a result, iPhoto becomes non-responsive. The 29 new  photos start off on the desktop. My one and only iPhoto library cache where the other imports are coming from is on an external HD with about 5,000 images. I do have another external backup HD, but it isn't connected when this problem occurs. Seems like iPhoto is trying to chase it's own tail...

  • Imported images very dark iPhoto 11 (9.1)

Imported photos are very dark & require considerable editing to improve. Same images imported into iPhoto 09 (8.1.2) on my MacBook are good color and need minimal editing if at all. Can someone advise how to solve this? Or alternatively how to uninstall iPhoto 11 (9.1) and go back to iPhoto 09 (8.1.2)?
For info videos from same camera imported into iMovie 11 (9.0) are good color.
    Help! Thanks

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Imported images not showing.

    Hello,
I recently updated to iphoto 08. I've done 2-3 imports since the update. I see all my photos on the update screen, but after the import I click on library / photos and I see only some of the images that were imported. This has happened all three times. If I search for the image names of the missing photos they still exist, but they don't show anywhere in iphoto. When I try to reimport them it says they already exist. When I import them anyway I then show 2. What gives? =0)
I have rebuilt the library, thumbnails etc.
    Thanks,
    Shawn

    Shawn:
Are you getting no thumbnails for those missing image files or thumbnails but no large image when you click on the thumbnail? If you're getting "!" in the large window iPhoto has lost the link to the original file. You have a couple of options.
1 - download and run the iLife Support 8.1 and iPhoto 7.1 updates.
2 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
3 - If that doesn't fix the library you'll have to start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from the old one as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Images some old loading new imported images not showing

I am working with cs4 /windows.  I can not get new images to show.  When designing the page and importing the images it shows. When "putting" publishing it does not show.
The only thing I could see as a problem would be old (very) server?.
I left some images that were on the server to begin with and they show up. The newly added images do not.
    http://www.twinsburgtravel.com/sandals-resorts.html

checking into that... I am thinking it is the server being old and not being able to handle space and new images.
thanks! will get back to you on this later this afternoon.

  • FCE for Slide Shows - Can Import Image Files Without iPhoto, iMovie?

From posts and the manual it sounds like yes, you can import files (of the right type, such as TIFF or JPEG, and even Photoshop with layers) directly into a project in FCE. Is that so? No need to have them in iPhoto or iMovie or somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Rich
Context (repeated for a number of questions about FCE I'm asking separately): Trying to escape the Windoze world where I've been using ProShow Gold to make still images (and video) slideshows somewhat easily, I'm thinking I'll be fine with the "more work" to build slideshows in FCE, and would enjoy using the increased power of the program eventually for working more with video. Already hip to the Tom Wolsky posts and links that look great for how to preprocess still images via Photoshop to ready them for FCE, along with lots of other info. Also have looked at all the free Apple web tutorials, as well as the FCE 4 Manual.

Thank you. I've kind of been thinking that I'd use the info found at http://www.fcpbook.com/Photoshop1.html and hopefully with a batch type process precondition all the images so they'd be more video-ready. But before I do much I'll experiment with just bringing in the full-sized, straight out of the camera image and how it looks after applying the De-interface filter.

  • Why are imported images not visible any more in My Catalogue?

I am trying to find out if there are limitations in PSE's Organizer that make it pointless for people with large numbers of photos to bother buying PSE 12.
I imported 1050 JPEGs into My Catalog without problem using PSE 8 but all subsequent imported JPEGs show up as Thumbnails that are Opague with an Hourglass design on them. This makes organizing these images impossibly slow.  When I created a new catalog -- good advice from "andalebbfatima.1" --imported thumbnails were visible again.
But what to do about the 1050 images in the original catalog? I've got two thick "how-to" books and they say nothing about copying images from one catalog to another.
More important, to have confidence to buy PSE 12, I need to know what caused the 'invisible' thumbnails in the original catalog and is it something that could happen again after another two years of scanning, importing and trying to organize?

    Glad you got it working.
For creating multiple catalogs from this original one, you can create copies of the original catalog. Check your catalog location using Help > System Info in Elements Organizer.
Now copy paste the catalog folder (i.e. the folder having same name as your catalog) in the same location. So now, you have say folders say- MyCatalog and MyCatalog-Copy.
You may open MyCatalog-Copy from Elements Organizer using File > Manage Catalog. Once this open, you can remove images from it so that only a selected set of images can be organized in this catalog. Now images get deleted from the hard disk in this process. Likewise, you can organize the original catalog.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Can I import Photos NOT in iPhoto?

I have a large number of photos on my computer that I'd like to use in iMovie but DON'T want to import them into iPhoto.
Is there any way to accomplish this? Seems like the only options for Photos is either via a connected camera or thru iPhoto.
    Am I missing something?

You can drag photos in to an iMovie Project from the Finder.

  • Is there any way to import photos not in iPhoto?

Is there a way to drop or import photos from desktop to iWeb instead of using iPhoto in media browser?
Yes, drop the photos from the desktop to a iWeb Photopage. If you have an empty Album page, it will be automatically filled.

  • Import images not responsive

Working on xp-sp2 machine, had LR beta 4.1 installed. Un-installed 4.1 & installed v1 w/o incident. Deleted all LR libraries as I am cleaning up HD & archiving pix elsewhere.
Created new library & attempted import pix. Everything seemed ok, LR indicated 2 processes at work......endlessly.....endlessly....endlessly & nothing happened.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

How many images? Depending on the number, the size of the previews, type of file, speed of machine, it could take a very long time. Any numbers you can post?
