  • EXIF time difference once images imported into Organizer in PSE8

I have been frustrated for a very long time and did some reading on the web - The solution: Sorry it is a bug
in PSE* and cannot be fixed!!!!!
The problem: Once I have imported images into PSE8 Organizer the EXIF time is converted to exactly two hours earlier, i.e. to GMT whereas I am at GMT+2. Note that the time on my Canon 7D and my computer (on windows 7) are correct!!!!!! If I do not use organizer, I do not have the problem!
From what I have read it is a bug in PSE and there is no permanent fix, but really.... How can Adobe not solve the problem?
Will it help if I purchase another copy of PSE8, is there a PERMANENT fix available and if so, what?
I am really frustrated, as I want to use the organizer, but cannit do it as the time is of great importance to me in my wildlife photography!!!!
    Anyone?
    Rudi

Wonderful! This EXIF standard, 2.2, http://www.kodak.com/global/plugins/acrobat/en/service/digCam/exifStandard2.pdf explains to me that the original form of the material digitized could be a "slide", "paper", "map" and so forth; so it's a standard for many types of digital still "cameras", not just a standard for typical, portable consumer cameras. EXIF time recording is first described on page 55.
Most of the time (or all of the time for me?), in Lightroom, the "date time original" and "Time Date digitized" has been the same and changing the original date will obviously (?) change the digitized date, too.
    Thanks!
PS: re-reading my post, I don't want anyone to think I was really getting RAW data from my Sony. It's a great little pocket camera but it only produces JPG's.

  • Keyword tags not being imported into Organizer when doing Save As

I've got quite a number of pictures in the Organizer, and find the keyword searching invaluable.
However...  When I open a file containing keywords in the main editor, and save as, it offers the choice "Include in the Organizer" which is ticked by default.  This brings the new version of the image into the organizer, but the keywords don't appear.  They are still in the source .psd or .jpeg, going back into the editor and doing File | File info... shows that they are there.
I got round it by saving with "Include in the Organizer" unchecked, but it doesn't remember the setting of this - it always switches back on.  This keeps the file out of the Organizer so at least you can use Ctrl+Shift+G to import which will take the keyword tags.
I guess there are two questions here:
    1. Is it possible to get the Save As to put the keywords as well as the image into the Organizer?
    2. Failing that, is there a way to turn off the "Include in the Organizer" check box?
I've searched the web, messages in this forum, and the FAQ by John R. Ellis and haven't been able to turn up any clues.  Hope someone can help or advise :-)

    Duncan

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
How are you opening the files into the Editor. Are you in the Organizer and you select a photo and the Ctrl-I (or menu command) to open the editor? Or do you open the file from the Editor directly, searching for it among your folders?
I'm opening the files from the Organizer using Ctrl+I.
    What version of PSE?
I'm using PSE7 with the latest updates applied.
What file type are you trying to save the photo as? Please confirm that the originals are .jpg and not RAW.
I'm using .jpg and .psd, using Save As with the same filetype.  e.g. open dsc1017.jpg save it as dsc1017_modified.jpg

  • Importing into iMovie issues

Yesterday, I started importing videos from our family's Canon VIXIA HG21 camcorder to our iMac (which we purchased Jan. 2014) through iMovie, Version 10.0.3. I had to leave it on all night, because there were about 160 videos to import. The computer went to sleep, so it stopped. I started it this morning, but had to stop the importing to take the camera to church. My brother was celebrating his b-day and I needed to take video and pics. Now I can't get it to continue importing the leftover videos. First it was blocking the "Import all" button, and now it keeps on freezing! It has uploaded most, but not all. Please help!

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums
Yes absolutely. You won't need imovie HD, indeed imovie HD won't import video from this camera.
In im09 you should be able to import directly from the camera from the file menu, if not (some cameras don't), you can now import AVCHD as an archive from the same file menu.

  • No connections of photo files loaded into Organizer - Elements 13 - PC

I downloaded Elements 13.  I already had Elements 9.  Download went smoothly but there must be an issue with the download.  All files I import into Organizer are fuzzy and very low resolution. If I click on a photo to Edit, it says that I have to reconnect.  I didn't have it in there in the first place.  I have been playing with this for a week so I uninstalled and re-installed and still same issue. Can anyone help?? Thanks.

    Hi,
It sound like your files have gone missing.
Please follow this article to reconnect missing files:

  • How do I get video clips into Organizer from Elements?

I have broken my raw video into pieces in elements but can't get it to import into organizer.
I am using Elements 11 Trial.

The video is actually a football highlight film for our son and came to us as a single mp4 file with about 60 plays of video on it.
What I am trying to do is
    1) Cut it down into 60 individual videos (which I did and currently have in my project).
    2) Save the pieces off as individual video clips.
    3) Get the ability to rank/rate each video and select the 25 or so that will make up the final video.
    4) Polish/edit those that make the grade.
    5) Organize and assemble.
    Does this make sense?

Pick a file type that suits your needs.  Be sure to check the box titled "Share WorkArea Bar Only".  Unfortunately, the clip piece will be re-encoded.  PrE11 will do that well, but not perfect because any encoding always seems to loose a little. You did not say what camera you are using.  The software that came with my Sony and Panasonic camcorders is much better for splitting clips into smaller clips.  Some sort of magic is in them where re-encoding does not take place.  The pieces have the same picture quality as the original.   So, when I do what you want, I break it into pieces with the camcorder software, the put the video together in PrE with all the creative tools it offers.  Bill

  • Import photos into Organizer Photoshop 7

How can I import photos into Organizer from a Desktop folder in the same order that I have arranged and numbered them?

I can confirm that Barb's method also works in PSE 7.
Are you on Vista or XP?
Can you give an example of two files that are in the desired order on Windows Explorer but a different order in PSE?
Most likely, youre encountering a feature of Vista Windows Explorer. PSE sorts filenames in Folder Location view by the customary dictionary (lexicographic) order used by most applications. For example, the file p15.jpg will come before p2.jpg, because 1 comes before 2 in the dictionary. But Windows Explorer sorts p15.jpg
after ps2.jpg, because it uses a different rule for sorting filenames if filenames end in numbers, then it sorts files that all have the same leading prefix by the numeric value of that number, not by dictionary order.
If this is indeed your issue, there are several alternate approaches:
    - Rename the files in Windows Explorer to have names of the form p002.jpg and p015.jpg (that is, the same number of trailing digits).
    - Use PSE albums rather than Windows Explorer to create ordered collections of photos. Its very easy to rearrange the order of photos in albums, much easier than renaming in Windows Explorer. In general, if you want to use the PSE Organizer, then things will go easiest if you do all your file management within PSE and not try to use Windows Explorer.
    - If you want your photos in order of date taken, use the PSEs Display > Thumbnail View to show them in date order. (Folder Location view shows in filename order, and albums show in the order you set.) Use Edit > Adjust Date And Time to change the date taken of any photos as necessary.

  • Unable to import into PSE 7 Organizer

I've got PSE 7 on a Windows XP- "Fusion" partioned drive running on a Mac OS 10.5. The editor of PSE 7 will open these images from a shared file, but the organizer will not import them from that same shared file. I’ve tried to import into organizers of versions 5 and 6 with no problem. Is there a solution  or workaround for this problem? ps The organizer will import if I copy the files from Mac into XP, but I don't have the space on the Windows partition for 70G + of images.

A couple of others have reported issues running PSE on a Mac virtual machine.  It appears there may be incompatibilities somewhere between Mac, the WIndows virtual machine, and PSE.  See this thread in particular:
    http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:YFm4lVWRHUQJ:www.adobeforums.com/webx%3F14%40%40.59b6 aaf4/1+Phillip+Ushijima+site:adobeforums.com&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
(Unfortunately, I'm not able to find it in the new forums -- the indexing of archived messages doesn't appear to work very well.)
This person seemed to have a similar issue: PSE on a Mac virtual machine can't access a native Mac volume.  HIs solution was to export the Mac volume as a network drive (using SMB) and then access it from the Windows virtual machine.   Maybe that approach would work for you.  (Ignore all the stuff about converting his database.)

  • Importing MTS Files into organizer

I have about 70 files that are .MTS without the directory structure. When I important them into organizer, they are vertically stretched. How can I fix this?
I have a feeling this question has been answered, but after 45 minutes of searching the forums I was unable to find it.
    Regards,
    Fan

    Fan,
    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you have posted to the Tips & Tricks sub-forum, which is basically a repository for articles on how to do things in Premiere, and gets very few "eyes." Maybe our MOD, Steve Grisetti, can move this out to the main forum, so that more can see it, and can help.
I do not use MTS material, so am not an expert in this area. However, if footage is being stretched, or squeezed, it is usually an issue with the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio), and Premiere not picking up the flag for the footage correctly. See this ARTICLE for more background. Usually, one can use Interpret Footage in the Project Panel, to force Premiere to "see" the correct PAR.
    Good luck,

  • Window 8.1 is not allowing Elements Organizer 11 to import pictures from SD card into Organizer

After installing Windows 8.1, I am no longer able to import pictures from SD card into Organizer as Elements simply stops working after Import from Card reader is selected. Obviously I am shutdown from importing pictures.

Windows 8.1 is not allowing Elements Organizer 11 to import pictures from SD Card in card reader into Elements Organizer. The Elements Program goes to a blue circle and the program times out.
    I have:
    Tried different SD cards
    Tried different card readers,
I can import off files or folders. However card reader does not show up on this menu within Elements.
There is obviously some workaround that could be contemplated BUT Elements Organizer cannot import from SD card in card reader and this is a very inconvenient situation.  It worked fine in Windows 8.0.
I would appreciate a reply. Thank you.

  • PSE-10 how do I import and copy from external hard drive into organizer

Can I import and copy from external hard drive into organizer? Under Get Photos, I select import  from folders/files but after browsing to the external hard drive the copy option is disabled/greyed out. I there a method to import and copy?

That would be mounted as an internal drive and hence the corresponding option is not checked during Import.
Once you import the media form this drive, you can select all and go for File >> Copy/Move files option and copy them wherever you want to.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • I imported files into organizer but when i try and open the folder no thumbnails open

I imported files from my sd card into organizer but when I click on the folder nothing opens in the window.  I also imported all my files from iPhoto and can't find them either.

Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have a backup of the library (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Importing flv into CS6 issues

I brought this up durring the pre-release but still can't seem to get any resolution to the fact that perfectly valid flv files that play just fine accross multiple other software, give a "file haas nsupported compression type" error when trying to import into Premiere.  I have recieved this with other formats in the past that required me to install additional codecs, but I would think flv being native to Adobe should import.  In CS5 I had similar issues but used to be able to import them into AE and then bring the AE sequence into PP as a work around, but can't seem to make that work in CS6.  I noticed in searching the forum that this was an issue for many in older versions, but didn't see any recent ones or any real solution.  Any insight would be appreciated!

FLV support is only partial, as there are several "flavors" of FLV. My memory is cloudy, but IIRC, FLV's with Sorenson Spark will not Import, where others with CODEC's, such as On2 VP6, etc. will. FLV is but a container, like .AVI, but with far fewer possibilities.
For the FLV's, that do not Import, which CODEC was used?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Importing GPX file into BlackStar issue

This is similar to the Cacheberry issue mentioned elsewhere. I can download the file onto my device just fine. However, I can't get it imported into BlackStar, it counts down from 100%, then just hangs. Have worked with, and received outstanding help from BlackStar, but seems to be isolated problem. Anyone have any ideas? SD card issue?
    Thanks

I strongly advise against using MPEG audio files in Encore.
Instead, use an uncompressed WAV or AIF file, and then let Encore transcode it to AC3, which is universally supported by all DVD players (some players can't playback MPA streams). Don't recompress the MPA to AC3 in Encore as MPEG-1 Level 2 compression in MPA is already lossy, and recompressing to AC3 will involve further lossy compression.
If you have a good AC3 encoder, you could also use an AC3 stream in Encore.
But avoid MPEG audio - if not for the reason of the trouble your seeing, then for player compatibility.

  • IPad 3 audio sync issue when video imported into CS5.5

Hi everyone, long time lurker here, love the support you guys are giving!
I'm hoping you'll be able to help with an audio sync problem I'm experiencing with videos recorded with the latest iPad 3 (well, that's what I'm calling it anyway).
I believe the iPad 3 recording format is 1080/30p with 44.1Khz / 16 bit audio, but when I match those settings on a Premiere Pro CS5.5 project (or try 48KHz audio as a test), the audio gradually goes out of sync. If the video is several minutes long, it becomes quite obvious, and by 10 minutes, it's terrible!
I should add the file plays back fine on the iPad itself and was imported to a Mac via iTunes. It also plays fine on the Mac itself in Quicktime.
Does anyone have any suggestions on project settings that'd work?
On a related note, I additionally captured the audio using a Zoom H2n which i intended to replace in Premiere, but foolishly I captured it at 48KHz, rather than the 44.1KHz of the iPad video file. Should I resample it?
I actually managed to line-up the 48 and 44.1KHz waveforms from the iPad and Zoom in Premiere quite accurately, but again both gradually go out of sync with the video...
I'm running Premiere Pro 5.5.2 on Mac OSX 10.7.3.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
    Gordon Laing

To update my original post, I have found this problem happens about half the time.
Sometimes there's no issue and the audio is in sync when imported into Premiere, but at other times it's way off.
I did however find a workaround which has resolved the problem on my iPad3 videos which were out of sync and that was to first import the video clip into iMovie on the Mac first, then simply export it again using the 1080p option. The subsequent file is much larger (so there's been an annoying re-encode), but when imported into Premiere, the audio is at least now in sync.
I used this to fix the audio on a couple of the videos you can find on this page (all of which apart from the last one were filmed on the iPad3)
    http://www.cameralabs.com/features/Working_holiday/
Since the video wasn't exactly critical to start with, I'm not too bothered by the re-encode.
Let me know if this fix works for anyone, and also if anyone comes up with a different solution.
    Thanks,
    Gordon
