Importing into public folder on Exchange 2013

Outlook 2013 Pro
Exchange 2013 SP1
I created the public folders and granted publisher rights to the outlook client. I exported a list of contacts to contact.pst from another account. In the exchange account, I import, point to the contact.pst and say place in same folder (public). Nothing
is imported.
If I expand contact.pst tree and select the contact folder (e.g. vendors), I get error ... Item cannot be created in the root of public folders.
How do I import into public folder?

Outlook doesn't support importing into a public folder.
You would either need to open the PST file in Outlook and then copy/move the contact items in the PST file to the applicable public folder.
Alternatively, if this is something that you're going to do on an on-going basis - any of the ContactGenie Import/Export programs may be of interest

    Hi Guys
I'm trying to publish an exchange 2013 public folder calendar. from outlook when I go to publish it give me the following error:
The mailbox folder identity ":S4ABAQH/////LgAAAAAAAAAoEFwKAAAAAPUAAAAAAAAAVhBcCgAAAAAAAAAAGkRzkKpmEc2byACqAC/EWgMAvY9C6z7Df0uoy78J0eSm+gAARbBnPwAAAAAAADihuxAF5RAaobsIACsqVsIAAEVNU01EQi5ETEwAAAAAAAAAAByDAhCqZhHNm8gAqgAvxFoGAAAAOTkzMDU4ZGMtOGY5Yy00Yzc5LThkZGQtMTE5NzEyNTgwMDA3QGtpbmdzY2h1cmNoLm5ldC5hdQAvbz1raW5nc2NodXJjaC9vdT1FeGNoYW5nZSBBZG1pbmlzdHJhdGl2ZSBHcm91cCAoRllESUJPSEYyM1NQRExUKS9jbj1SZWNpcGllbnRzL2NuPWUwMzkxYTQ3MmI0ODQxZDg4NDE4MzI5MjQ1MmUxNGY3LUR5bGFuIE1jTGVvZAAC" isn't in the correct format. The correct format should look like this: "<MailboxIdentity>:<FolderPath>".
I've been searching but am unable to find any information regarding the error.
Is there something that i'm missing which would allow me to publish the calendar?
    Regards

    can you help me please?

Meanwhile, you can check-out few below mentioned resources to troubleshoot PF migration in exchange 2010 : http://justaucguy.wordpress.com/2013/08/22/troubleshooting-a-public-folder-migration-to-2013/

  • Migrating public folders to exchange 2013 hebrew issue

I am migrating public folders to exchange 2013. half of them a named in hebrew.
The migration fails, the error is character  related.
Is it possible at all to migrate hebrew named public folders?

    Hi,
Did you got the error message mentioned in the following thread?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/8b383a46-b710-4fc0-aa0b-e52f288cf93d/e2010-to-e2013-public-folders-migration-failed?forum=exchangesvrdeploy
If so, please check if they are mail-enabled public folders. If they are mail-enabled public folders, please make sure there are no invalid characters in alias.
Based on the description, you couldn't migrate public folders named in Hebrew, other public folders could be moved successfully. If I misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
If the issue persists, I'm afraid you need to rename these public folders in English.
    Best regards,
    Belinda

  • Exchange 2013 Users cannot access Public folder in Exchange 2007 SP3

    Dears,
i am working in Upgrading Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 CU7,, I came to know with CU7 we have new way for coexistence with legacy Public Folder
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn690134(v=exchg.150).aspx
i did the steps exactly as it is in the article,  but now users in Exchange 2013 always prompt for username /password when opening outlook and i found they still trying to connect to Exchange 2007 PF Server using HTTPS and failed..
BTW, Outlook anywhere is disabled in EX2007 and as per this article Q/A , it is no more needed
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/11/07/on-premises-legacy-public-folder-coexistence-for-exchange-2013-cumulative-update-7-and-beyond.aspx
the issue now, still users getting prompted and cannot connect to PF in EX2007,,
    your help is appreciated
    thanks
    Mufleh

I ran into the same situation recently, and found out that you need to make sure InternalClientsRequireSSL is set to false.
To verify: Run Get-OutlookAnywhere | fl Identity, *ssl
If it is true, try setting it to false.

  • Unable to expand public folder in Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 CU6

    Hello,
we have just migrated Exchange 2010 to 2013. Everything works great, except public folders, which we are not able to expand in Outlook 2013. Public folders can be added to OWA without any problem, so just the Outlook 2013 is a problem (we never tried any
other version, as all the e-mail clients installed here are Outlook 2013).
The public folders are visible under node Favorities in Outlook 2013, but whenever we click any folder, the Public folders disappear completely from the left navigation pane or the message is shown on the right pane, that the public folder cannot be opened.
When Outlook is started, a dialog is sometimes opened, which contains prefilled Microsoft exchange server, mailbox, button Check name, which is disabled. The only thing which can be done with that dialog is clicking the button Ok.
Any help is appreciated, the desperation level starts to be reaching max threshold.
    Kind regards,
    John.

Thank you for your quick response. I have tried removing and creating new Outlook profile many times, without any effect.
    1) When I switch to the online mode, only the node All Public Folders is displayed in the left navigation pane and after I start the Outlook the dialog mentioned above is displayed. The node Favourities is not visible.
    2) In offline node, node App Public folders is visible and whenever I click it, message "Cannot expand the folder" is shown. After checking Download favourities, the list of public folders is available, but whenever I click any folder, it shows
"We didn't find anything to show here." and "The folder is up to date." in the bottom status bar. The content is rendered correctly in OWA and these public folders contain many e-mails and subfolders. None of these is rendered in Outlook.
Thanks in advance for any tips and inspiration, we start to run out of ideas. I am more than sure that it will be something simple, but we can't still figure it out.

  • Importing contacts into Public Folder email contact list under the folder

I am able to create a public folder and add a blank contacts list
    1. How to do I import external contacts into the public folders contact list?
    * I imported all external contacts via CSV into the GAL and then manually added all of them to my contacts list. I then moved them form my contacts to the public folders contact list.
There has to be a easier way.
    2. How come I can't show the public folders contact list in Favorites? I can see the public folder but not the contacts list in that public folder even after I add it to my favorites.

    Hi,
You may export the contacts from the Personal contact folder and then import it to the Public folder.
The following article for your reference:
    Export contacts
You can export contacts to a file that can then be imported into other applications, such as Web mail clients, Excel spreadsheets, or database applications. The most common export file format is a comma separated value (CSV) file.
    Import contacts
Contacts can be imported into Outlook from other applications or from exported Outlook contacts. These instructions assume that you have already exported the contacts from the other application, such as a Web client, Excel spreadsheet, or database application.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Public Folder in exchange server 2013

We are using an legacy application developed in Classic ASP. In this application we are rendering the message items in the public folder on the exchange server 2003.
Now we are going to migrate our exchange server 2003  to exchange server 2013.
Do exchange server 2013 have public folder? Is this migration have impact on the public folders usage.
Please let me know for any clarifications.

There will be no co-existence support for Exchange Server 2003. In your scenario, you will have to migrate twice, once from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 or 2010, then again to Exchange 2013 or another option you have to proceed that by using any third-party
migration tool to accomplish this task in one go. When you preparing to migrate mailbox, you can have a look at
exchange server deployment assistant to see the current recommended steps for your configuration. A good resource for swing migration direct from exchange 2003 to 2013 can be explored at
    here.
In the same way, You cannot migrate public folders directly from Exchange 2003. You will have to move all public folder databases and replicas to Exchange 2007 SP3 RU10 or later. No public folder replicas can remain on Exchange 2003.
I would like to refer on couple of links mentioned below. It will help you better to clarify the scenario further :

  • Having issues seeing public folders in Exchange 2013.

We have an multi-tenant Exchange 2013 environment and are currently trying to set up up Public Folders for use with one of our tenants.
I have created the primary public folder mailbox and then created a public folder for the Tenant and assigned the necessary permissions to user account I would like to access the folder from (in this case "owner" permissions).  However I cannot
see the public folder from Outlook.  This is the case with both Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2013.  I have made sure I am in the folder view (Cntrl + 6) but I see no public folders to speak of.  I am able to log into OWA and add the public folder
to the favourite list by right clicking and selecting "add public folder", I am also able to access the public folders using a third party mobile app for iPhone called "Public Folders".  I've also tried creating completely new profiles
in both versions of Outlook but I cannot see the public folders that way either.
We are currently using a third party wildcard certificate with our multi-tenant environment, not sure if that would have an impact on what we are doing here but thought I'd throw that in just in case.

    Hi,
Do you mean the public folder still cannot be seen even you logged the Outlook 2007 good user on an Outlook 2013 machine?

  • Enable legacy public folders for Exchange 2013 prior to migration?

We're about ready to migrate to Exchange 2013 from 2010. We have a public folder database on 2010 that users can't see once migrated to 2013. If I run through the commands according to the technet article "Configure legacy public folders where user
mailboxes are on Exchange 2013 servers" (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn690134(v=exchg.150).aspx), will users who's mailboxes are still on Exchange 2010 be able to see these public folders?

I know they've made alot of changes recently in how legacy public folders are handled in Exchange 2013 (mostly CU7), but I haven't had to do anything more than just setting the proper public folder database on the Exchange 2013 databases.
That being said, looking over the article you are not doing any moves, and it looks eerily similar to this blog post:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/11/07/on-premises-legacy-public-folder-coexistence-for-exchange-2013-cumulative-update-7-and-beyond.aspx
So I don't think this would hurt Public Folder access for your users in your legacy environment.
Did you deploy CU7?  If so, then do what both articles say.  If not try using Set-MailboxDatabase -Identity <2013 db name> -PublicFolderDatabase <PF DB NAME>

  • Edit public folders in Exchange 2013

With the help of Microsoft I migrated my whole 2007 exchange to exchange 2013 including public folders. In 2007 I had a DB with folders like "First Year Students", "Second Year Students" ect... and used to update  the contents
of these folder in the DB with CSV files. All of my migrated public folders show up in EAC/Public Folders as "PFMB1" I have no idea how or even if I can edit this.
Any help on this area would be appreciated

  • Photos imported into wrong folder

When running an import and setting destination to import into subfolder organised by date (2011/2011-04-29) the ophotos taken late in the day do not go into the correct folder, they import into the next days folder. It appears the calculation used for the import does not take into acct regional settings.
Using lightroom 3.4 (also seen with 3.2 and 3.3)
Any ideas other than manually sorting all photos?
I notice that the Canon import software correctly sorts the photos, just have to use that then synchronise in lightroom, not good but at least till adobe fix the bug it will have to do.

  • Is it possible to access the Public Folders in Exchange 2013 during a migration from Exchange 2007 to verify the files are there?

This is a migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  We're in the middle of migrating the Public Folders.  Is it possible to configure a database to point to the Exchange 2013 public folders so I can verify the data before the final cut?
If so what are the steps to do that?  Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge no.  It's an all or nothing thing with public folders.
