Importing Itunes Library - Itunes crash

Hi, I received an "Importing iTunes Library" pop-up when opening iTunes. It does it's stuff for awhile, and then replies with "iTunes library is corrupt." I replaced it with my latest backup (from last night) It is a regular computer backup, not an iTunes backup, and I still get the same response. I replaced the entire iTunes folder in Windows (not the music itself) I have the latest iTunes software
Please help! Thanks

Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?

  • HT1349 Is there anyway possible to retrieve your Itunes Library from crashed computer

We had a computer that crashed around Christmas time.  We had put SO much in our Itunes library and now we have to start all over again.  Is there a way to retrieve that Itunes library and successfully import it to our new computer?

Yes, although it depends a bit on how your library is organised. If everything is in the iTunes standard folders, libraries are in ...My Documents\My Music\iTunes and all the media in ...My Documents\My Music\iTunes Music then you can share the main iTunes folder over your network. Install iTunes on the laptop, then hold shift immediately after clicking on the iTunes shortcut to get the option to choose or create a new library. Navigate to your network share and open the iTunes Library.itl file. Don't try to access the library from two machines at the same time.

  • Itunes library on crashed computer

OK I'm new to this, so maybe it's just because I didn't read the manual... :-)
This is the challenge. I bought an iMac and later I bought an iPad. Bought some stuff at the Apple store and put some other stuff (like photos and so on) on the iPad. Then lightning struck, no seriously, lightning struck and the iMac didn't survive. So I lost the iTunes library.
New iMac, new iTunes library... Issue, the iPad doesn't want to share its content with the new iTunes library... or at least I cannot make it share its contents. As you can imagine, there is a lot of sentimental stuff on the iPad, how do I get it on the new iMac.
I tried to share but I can only synchronise from the new (thus empty) iTunes library to the iPad and not vice versa.
Anybody out there that can offer assistance?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hanzie

This should explain it all to you. I found it in another thread. This is the thread. It is an iPhone discussion but it works the same way with an iPad. Pay close attention to the steps under the heading in bold type below.

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are replacing your computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

  • How to sync ipod touch to new computer itunes library after old itunes library computer crash without wiping out "library" on ipod touch

how to sync ipod touch to new computer itunes library after old itunes library lost in computer crash, without erasing ipod touch

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • HT4527 My home computer with my iTunes library has crashed. How can I transfer all my music from my iPhone to my new computer

My home computer which has my iTunes library on it how can I transfer all of my music from my iPhone to my new computer

The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintan a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.  Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.

  • When adding songs to Itunes library, itunes stops working

When adding songs to itunes library it stops wokring and itunes closes.

I'm having the exact same problem and I came to this forum seeking the answer.
To go into more detail, the problem occurs when you click on 'Add File to Library', then select multiple songs from a folder using the CTL key. You can add tracks individually with no problem. Use CTL to choose two or three tracks, that works fine, too. But if you choose more than that, nothing gets added to the Library.
If I had to guess, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the total number of characters allowed (on the selected tracks) before the 'Add to Library' pop-up form basically fails to work properly. I've also noticed the magic number of selected tracks to be somewhere in the 3-4 range before it doesn't work.
It definitely feels like a software bug and I've experienced it in more than one version of iTunes, including the current release. I'm hoping Apple will recognize and fix it sometime soon. Having to go into the same folder three or four times to import 10 or more tracks from the same album is pretty irritating.

  • How to copy everything from my ipod, back to my itunes library? Crashed external hard drive- containing all music/media that was linked to itunes.

My external hard drive crashed and that is where I had all of my music/media files.  I do have some content on another external drive, but not all (and not my movies, etc).
How can I copy everything, from my ipod classic, back to my itunes on my PC with Windows XP?

The media is laid out on the iPod in a completely different stucture to that used by iTunes. However, if all your files on the iPod have tags (i.e. are not wav files) then you can try the following:
Create a new empty library by holding down shift and clicking the icon to launch iTunes, then select Create. Choose a location with enough room for your media, ideally on the same drive letter your missing media folder used to be on.
Copy the contents of \iPod_Control\Music into the Automatically add to iTunes folder of the new library.
Move the resulting iTunes Media folder into the location that your current library expects to find it. (If you can't do this for some reason move on to the next step, then use my FindTracks script to reconnect your media)
Hold down shift and click the icon to launch iTunes, then select Choose and select your original library.

  • Transfering authorized itunes library after crash

My computer crashed so I rebuilt it from a 32bit to a 64 bit system and installed new ITunes.  I do not have access to my old I tune library files.  I have tried different ways to get my library items into this new computer with no luck so far.  When I attempt to download purchased apps and music through I tunes I got this message: "Some of the purchased items on the IPhone could not  be transferred to your I Tunes library because you are not authorized for them on this computer.  Even though I have Authorized This Computer?  How can I omit the old computer as being my authorized computer to this new computer?  Thanks

Dandewalter back:   I looked into deauthorizing my old computer and it appears that with my new install my account does not show any other computers being authorized but this computer only.  Why can't I transfer all my purchased apps and music.  This image is the message I mentioned in my earlier post.

  • Itunes library/ itunes files/  2nd computer

I just set up an old Cube as a jukebox on our stereo. Getting the music files to the Cube via external drive was easy enough. Moving the library file has me confused, though. I would like to preserve all the custom info (song ratings) I've worked on over the years - how do I move that from the first computer & access the music files it refers to on the external drive? I seem to get the ! mark on those songs as itunes can't find them. If I just add the files to itunes again I loose my ratings! (And end up with 2 libraries- one with ratings not linked to files, the other with links to files but no ratings.

I might be wrong here, you might have already tried this..
With the music library on the external drive copy over the music library data files and pop them into the usual location.
Open up iTunes and tell it that all the music is in a external location (via the preference menu).
Try that, like I said i might be wrong but i guess its worth a shot.
Here's another thought, would you be able to simply switch on iTunes music sharing? That way you should get a mirrored image of the shared library

  • Import iTunes Library from External Drive to New Computer with Vista

I can't seem to "import" my entire iTunes library from my external hard drive to my new computer. However, I can import songs one-by-one. There must be a way to transfer the whole file at once but it is beyond me. Anyone have a solution?

Hi I am new and have found a way to import Files & Folders over my home network and or other drives.
Start in File, click "Add File to Library", or "Add Folder to Library". In the “look in” dropdown window, locate the File or folder and double click on it. It should begin to transfer. I have never transferred an enter library though.
    On a personal note,
I have come to realize that I can only transfer iTunes music. I can not transfer or even find the music that I have installed from a CD into my iTunes library. iTunes dose recognize even the folder that such music is in. If any of you have an answer to this problem let me know.
    Thanks
