Importing jpeg frames to timeline as single frames

How do i import images as single frames on the timeline? instead of the usual length. It's for a kind of stop motion.
Many Thanks
Ollie

What you want to do is use an image sequence. Your images should all sit in one folder, and be named sequentially: "movie0001.jpg," "movie0002.jpg" and so on...
Now as far as importing is concerned, I don't know if FCE supports importing an image sequence directly, but I do know Quicktime does (however, I think its a Quicktime Pro feature only). Go to File -> Open Image Sequence, and select the first image in the seqeunce and click Open. Quicktime will then read every sequentally named file in the folder, and load it into a movie. You can then save this movie in whatever format you like, and import it into FCE.

  • If I want to make a single-frame importer, e.g. - for WebP image format, do I need to implement an SDK importer plugin? Are there any examples?

The title says it all really. Was wondering if there's a simpler interface to implement which does not contain video or audio, but just a still frame image.
I don't care about exporting this format from Premiere, just being able to read a single frame or a sequence of frames to be used as footage.

    Hi Rotem,
A standard importer plug-in is the way to go for a still image importer.  You could start from SDK_File_Import in the SDK.  There is also a WebM plug-in on GitHub:

  • Premiere Pro CC 'single frame' export squashes aspect ratio

    Hi,
When I used the single frame export button to export a single frame from my timeline, the 16:9 ratio gets squashed in.
The image has a play button graphic on it and that should be round but it comes out oval.
When I import the image into Photoshop, it looks normal 16:9 but when I save it as a jpeg and open it up, it's still squashed.
I would be so grateful if someone could help me sort this out.

Thanks Jim for your quick reply.  I am still wondeirng if there is a better way.  The footage I am editing is 1920 x 1080 DSLR footage.  Anytime I export a frame from Fnal Cut Pro it does it fine.  I moved over to Adobe recently and I'm suprised that it's not working.  I wondered whether there was a way to change my export settings so that it exports with square pixels from Premiere Pro.  Meanwhile I will try to follow your  instructions re square pixles and photoshop.

  • HT200044 how to export a single frame in 10.0.6 - I cannot find option?

With 10.0.5 There was an option on "share" to pick a single frame from the timeline and export the image as a JPEG or other formats.  I do not find this option on the new version.

It works now, you need to go back to share and a new option is available that was created by the step you mentioned, listed as share frame one -- when selected, this allows for exporting the frame to the desktop!
    Thanks.

  • Export Specific Timelines (Main, Nested, Frame counts)

It seems that every Flash file exports the main timeline in its entirety.
Is there a way to choose to export jpeg sequences, mov's, and swf's of:
    - Specific ranges of frames
    - Specific timelines within a symbol only?
    - Specific ranges of frames within a specific symbol?
    - Specific layers of specific timelines within specific symbols?
This flexibility would be great but I'm not sure if there's a way to do it. It seems like a pretty basic feature. Anyone?
    EX:
    - I make a file named BALLBOUNCE.FLA
    - I have created a graphic symbol called "BOUNCE1" of a ball bouncing. 1 bounce. 1 single cycle.
    - In the main timeline I put BOUNCE1 on the stage, then tween that cycling ball across the stage so that the same bounce is used 25 times, moving slowly across the stage.
    - For reason X, I decide that I need to export JUST the frames inside that symbol as a SWF. One bounce cycle within the graphic.
WITHOUT copying and pasting frames into the main timeline - is there a way to export that specific timeline directly as a SWF?

  • Duplicating a single frame

I want to duplicate a single frame tens of times so that it plays as a single stationary clip and you can put a crossfade on the end of it,  which you can't do if you just drop lots of identical frames to the timeline

    Tim,
Export the Frame. Depending on your version, this might need to be done in slightly different ways. If you do not have the option to Add to Project (differs by version), then Import it. Place it on the Timeline, and then click on the Tail, to extend as is needed.
    Good luck,

  • Need help on saving single frame animation as avi

i am new in flash. any one can help me on how to save single frame animation as avi movie?
the default export setting gives a movie with no length....
    thanks

This is I got when google it:
you mean your trying to export a flash animation as an avi and your using movieclips???
if this is your case i have a very simple solution export it as a swf,  now import that swf into a new file and export it as an avi all should  be good.
The reason why flash doesnt export movie clips is because it has its own  time and if your going to use a flash animation for video it should  have only one timeline alone thats why movieclips dont work when you  export it as an avi.
Now the reason why this works is because when you import the swf all teh  animation are in the maintimeline so do it and post back your results  good luck
    Hope it helps

  • Not seeing all my frames in timeline

I am using Mpeg Streamclip to convert my VOB files so that I can edit the movie I made in final Cut Express HD. What is the best conversion to use? And when I have converted recently and imported the conversion into Final cut, I am not seeing all the frames in my timeline. Isnt there supposed to be a frame with a picture of each and every frame on the timeline?
    Thank You!
    Erik

    Hi Erik.
To see every frame in the timeline:-
    1. Click the little arrow to the right of the tiny Timeline Size Graph near the bottom left of the screen.
    2. In the window that opens select "Show Video Filmstrip".
    3. Hold your finger on the Control Key and hold down the + key.
Your timeline should expand to show every single frame.
    Ian.

  • Photos as single frames

This is probably a really stupid newb question, but I can't figure out how to import photos (jpegs in this case) as successive single frames into iMovie 08. I'm trying to create a time-lapsed movie from about 300 still images. Can someone give me some help on this? Thanks.

Unfortunately, iMovie '08 automatically imports photos and adds them to the project as a "still frame" sequence assuming you will either add a KBE or display the photo for a fixed duration of time. Here is a "Quickie" Tutorial to get around this problem.

  • How do I export a file to mov? I always get just a single frame.

I don't work in flash. So excuse my ignorance. I have a flash file that I want to import to After Effects. Everytime I try exporting it only exports a single frame and everytime I publish it I only get an html file. I'm getting fustrated! This should be straight forward!

is all your animation on the main timeline?  if not, move the animation to the main timeline.
do you have any movieclips on the main timeline?  (if yes, change them to graphic symbols and retest.)

  • Extract single frame

I know how to choose a frame and add it to the end of my movie (control click on the frame and select "add still frame to project"). If I control click on the frame and choose "reveal in finder" I can see an icon of the image in a folder titled "Stills". I want to use that image in another project but I can't find the folder titled Stills. I've done a search with no luck. How can I get the still out of iMovie to use in iPhoto?
    Thank you,
    Linda

    Save Frame in iMovie 08:
There have been 2 or 3 workflows proposed. Which you use probably depends on exactly what you plan to do. For example, Lets say I want a single frame saved as an external file. Normally, I would just open the clip in QT Pro and export using the "QuickTime movie to Picture" option. However, If I am in iMovie '08 and don't want to leave for some reason, I simply do the following:
    1) open or create a "work" project (I keep a "work" project in my list of projects at all times)
    2) open the "Events" window containing the frame I want
    3) Expand the "timeline," select the exact frame I want, and add it to the "work" project.
    4) Share the project using the "Export using QuickTime > Movie to Image Sequence > 1 frame/sec" option which gives me a single JPEG frame image.
    OR upgrade to iMovie 06.
    Then, File > Save Frame.
    Done!
iMovie 06 is a free download to iLife 08 owners.

iMovie 06 and iDVD 08 is a terrific combination.

  • 1 single frame being dropped in a layer

Hopefully I can explain this without going into too much detail...
I have an project (about 30" long)... There are a few layers to it... I added new footage to a specific part of my project. But the footage drops a single frame at a particular part of my timeline...
I added an image mask and noticed this. So I deleted the image mask, same deal, it drops a frame just at a certain point in my animation. I deleted the footage and re-imported it. I checked the footage in Quicktime, looks fine, no dropped frame)...
I checked each layer, everything seems to be in working order... No accidentally opacity key frames or anything.
Any clue? I also restarted the program...

Well I found the problem but not the reason why... I moved a group 1 frame to the left (seemingly unrelated to the layer with the glitch) and it works... When I move the whole group to the right, it makes the footage disappear until the other group appears...
    Confusing?

  • Converting a single frame swf to a gif

I have a couple of really cool animated 'shockwave flash
movie windows projector' images that i would love to convert into
animated gif's so that I can edit them to work in a theme I'm
designing for my sony ericsson w580i. I was finally able to convert
the exe files into swf's... but that didn't really do me any
good... same issue. Also upon further scrutiny I discovered that
both animated file types have only 1 frame! What should I do?!
    Please help!!

I've experienced the same thing sometime long in the past,
and I probably did a frame by frame Print Screen to get around it.
If it's single frame swf, then that's probably all you're going to
get is one frame as an output.
You may be able to incorporate a jpeg encoder of some sort to
take snapshots as the piece animates in some form of loop fashion,
but I'm not savvy in that dept.

  • How do I position to panels in a single frame?

    Hi,
Can someone tell me how i can position two panels in a single frame using the BorderLayout class.
I have included my code below. When it is run it shows two JPanels positioned at the top and the bottom, a text area to the right, a panel in the center and a panel on the left. I want to get the panel on the left - the yellow panel - to be positioned in the lower third of the center panel. I have tried to use the BorderLayout.SOUTH statement - but this positions the panel across the very bottom which causes the bottom JPanel and part of the text area to disappear.
Can anyone help with this please???

One solution would be to create a new panel, bothPanels and adding the two panels that you need to this panel.
Once you have done that, you can add bothPanels to contentArea.add( bothPanels, BorderLayout.CENTER)
