Importing jpeg into pages

I have been sent a jpeg to use in a document.
It views fine when I open it in preview.
However, when I import it into my document it just displays as a black rectangle.
What am I doing wrong?

How are you importing it into Pages? Pages does seem to handle graphics that are inserted using Insert > Choose... better than dragging & dropping. You might also try saving the image as a PDF from Preview & using that in Pages.

Can you import jpegs into Livetype as fonts?

I have a logo, in which I have broken up all the letters into separate jpegs, so I can animate them in. Unfortunately Motion has limited animation for objects that are not fonts, and as far as I can tell, livetype will not animate anything but fonts. Can someone help me figure out how to...I guess create a font in which these different jpegs would make up the letters of the font, and import that into livetype? Thank you!

You pose and interesting question. Live Type works best when you use the exisiting fonts provided in the program
Yes you can import jpegs into Live Type and you can use the pre-fabricated effects to animate them if you please, you can even modify many of the effects.
If you have a just a few elements of a logo you may be able to create what you want relatively fast. You can do this in Motion as well, where you have more control, although IMO the learning curve is steeper in Motion. For that matter you could keyframe and animate in Final Cut Pro as well.
If you choose to try this in Live Type then go to File>Place and select each of you jpegs indivudually.

Getting error when attempting to import jpegs into Premiere Elements

When attempting to import still images (jpegs) into a video project I am able to import some, but on others get the error "importer reported a generic error," and I can't figure out why some photos load and others don't. Can anyone help?

SOME pictures may be created with "malformed" file header information... the solution is generally to open in Photoshop and resave to fix the file header

Importing JPEGS into FCE 'unexpect quit'!

Any ideas as to why when importing JPEGS (2mb) into FCE it 'unecpectantly quits'? Its very consistent even after dumping plist.

So the file gets into the application OK. It crashes when it goes into the sequence. What are the specs for the JPEG file? What's it say in item properties? Was it made in RGB not CMYK?

Can't import jpegs into drop zones in 7.0 themes

I've followed the thread regarding mac book pros and hang ups with iDVD 08 and the 7.0 themes. I have a G5 and can't get the 'Revolution' 7.0 them on main menu to allow me to 'drop' a jpeg into its drop zone. I drag the jpeg over, the green sign appears like its going to allow it to be dropped, it drops but the zone remains black like nothing is there. When I go to the info tree for the drop zones, its shows up like it is there, but on the main menu it remains empty. Any one with any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any info.

What happens if you click on the Drop Zone button and drag the image there?
This frequently helps solve some problems. Quit iDVD. Search for the file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and trash it. (A new one will be created next launch of iDVD.) Or look in: User/Library/Preferences. This may solve project loading errors too. Restart and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
You'll need to reset some Preferences.

Problem with importing JPEG into Flash

Hello,
Im using Adobe Flash CS3 PRO. I don't know what's wrong..when I try to import photos into the stage the photos get resized.
My photographs are 550px by 413px. I set my stage to the same size. Then I go to import to stage. I click import as a sequence. All the photos are appear smaller on the stage. They are only about 200px
Why is it happening?????
I am basicaly trying to import a sequence of photographs for my stop motion animation. Do you have any suggestions?

I don't know the why of it. I don't have this problem most of the time, but I have heard it come up before--I don't remember the solution though. It may have involved importing the image into something that is already scaled smaller.
Anyways, here's a couple of things to check while waiting for someone who might know more to come along.
First, select one of the images and select Modify -> Transform -> Remove Transform. If the Remove Transform option is grayed out, then nevermind.
If that didn't do anything, try dragging one of the images out to the stage from the library and see if it is the proper size.
If you have a ton of images, it's likely that neither of the two things above is an attractive solution anyways.

Why do I see in the preview panel black edge on sides of imported jpegs into premiere CS5

We sized a jpeg in photoshop to 720 x 524 to import into premiere project frame size 720 x 480. Proportions all look good, but there is a black edge on each side of the jpeg in the preview panel. Will this show up when viewed on a tv screen once we create the dvd? On my preview tv screen, it looks like it will not show up, but I do not want to do this whole project that includes 50 jpegs and then have a problem? any good answers or things I should change.

720x540 was the square-pixel equivalent before the correction that considers the difference between clean aperture and production aperture. In CS4 and later, it's 720x534.
There's a table of the square-pixel equivalents here. There are also presets in Photoshop that match this.

Importing jpeg into Flash

When I import a jpeg image into a flash document the edges

Poor Quality Importing .jpeg into iMovie

When I import a picture into iMovie it comes out extremely blurry. When I select the photo from "Media" and from iPhotos the picture looks great up top. When I drag the image down to build the project it gets insanely blurry. I've tried different things including importing on the "Clips" page rather than dropping from the "Media" page.

Pictures are different from video. In addition to that the quality of your movie/slideshow should be judged on a TV screen. iMovie provides you with a preview (even if it's a good one)

How can i split a long table (forecast 2013 - 2043) and import it into pages?

I have a problem with numbers 09. I made a business plan including a cashflow forecast for 30 years. Now i need to split the table to export it into a pages document. Everytime I tried to cut or copy only parts of the table, the formulas dont work anymore.
I would really appreciate suggestions!!!

Try copying the whole table, then paste into a new (temporary) table using the menu item "Edit > Paster Values"... then copy this to Pages as needed

Unable to import jpegs into Library

HI all,
I hoping somenone has come across a similar issue and resolved it. When trying to import my jpegs from both my iphone and my digital camera the import runs but at the end when prompted to keep originals or remove a message box prompts with the folllowing:
Unreadable Files: 26
The following files could not be imported.(the Import failed)
Has anyone had this and resolved it. Its disastrous for me at the moment as i cannot back up all my photos of my new born girl.

Thank you for your response, but unfortunately this did not help as i get the same issue as before - "The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognised file type or the files may not contain valid data)"
I now have another problem, where when i now open iPhoto it comes up with this message box:
25 photos were found in the iPhoto library that were not imported. Would you like to import them Yes or No.
if i click yes it tries to import them, shows the above error message again (files could not be imported etc) then creates an album titled recovered photo's with no pictures in it.It also actually downloads the photos to a file on the HD titled " iPhoto Library Recovered Photos"
If i click NO a message box appears stating " these photo's have been placed in folder xx/xx/xx etc titled " iPhoto Library Recovered Photos", so i now have 2 folders with the same pictures, but still unable to import. Plus i cannot stop iPhoto doing the above. every time i open it i get the above message and it creates a new recovered folder.
I am now worse off than when i started.

Pages 2.0.2 was delivered in 2006 which is an eternity in computers world.
If I remember well, I was able to use it under 10.6.8.
Under 10.7.2, I may start it but I can't type any character.
It's not really surprising.
I have no more detailed infos about iWork '06.
iWork '08 applications must be updated to version 8.0.3 to be used correctly under 10.6.8 or 10.7.x

Applications and Operating Systems have independant parallel lives.
When an application is alive, it may be updated when some new system features require that it evolve.
When an application is replaced by an other one, it's no longer updated so, more or less soon, it become incompatible with new operating systems.
If you refuse to upgrade your applications (which means buy new versions), don't apply the system updates which may render them obsolete.

Images lose quality when imported into Pages

Hi,
when I import images into Pages, they lose quality. They are normal jpg files.
After the import they look a bit fuzzy. I dunno why...

In the Inspector "Measures" there is a button allowing us to reset to the original size.
Of course, the picture will be smaller than the blurred one
or
will be too large and parts will be hidden.

Pdf into Pages?

I've been tring to use the pdf2rtf service from Devon technologies to drop text into Pages (which I only bought today). However, it doesn't seem to work! If I use textedit there are absolutely no problems. Pages, however, refuses to open the pdf (greyed out in the open dialogue).

I think the problem is the assumption that since Pages can import RTF files it uses RTF within it's file structure, which is wrong.
Both of the sites (I checked them last night) mentioned that their product will work with any Mac OSX program which reads RTF. Since Pages does not (importing converts RTF but does not read RTF) this may be why it will not work with the program.
For now, though, you may be able to get the most by opening the PDF document in Text Edit, saving it as RTF and then importing it into Pages. Not the most elegant, but workable. It's too bad there is no way to build an Automator flow for this procedure.

Trouble with aspect ratio importing jpegs

I am importing JPEGs into Final Cut Pro. They are all formated at 740x480. All appropriate settings in FC are NTSC-DV Anamorphic. The photos are coming in squeezed down. Any help would be appreciated.

The pixels are not square. All you need to do is open the Motion tab and adjust the distort.
